Dishonest advertising and company
Pros: There was nothing to like in here
Cons: 1st thing was time to pick up the vhicle was 10 am i went there they said vehicle is under service and they gave me vehicle at 11 05 am. My schedule was messed up. They added other hidden fees. I bought the insurance while booking online but they added other insurance cost in it. Totally bulshit

Cons: Apparently, I accidentally selected an off-airport rental site. When I arrived at the ON-airport site, they simply said I had no reservation at their location and that I'd have to get a ride to the off-airport site. When I tried to call Hertz at the 800 number on the Kayak reservation I'd printed out, I repeatedly got an "all circuits are busy" message. I gave up on Hertz and rented from the company adjacent to their booth.

Pros: They did help me but resevation was at a different location than the airport. So i had to pay an up charge and wait for an hour for a car.

Worst experience ever!!!
Pros: Terrible terrible service. I reserved a specific vehicle at a specific pickup location and made plans based on that location and timetable. I was contacted 2.5 hours prior to my confirmed pickup time (7:30 am) and left a brief message to call back. Around 8:15 am I contacted the rental office only to be told the car that I had reserved 24 hours earlier was not available and there was nothing they could do for me. I insisted that they figure it out for me and after some persistence on my part the person who had left the message and been my only contact said he would transfer the reservation to a not so near by airport location. I was not happy about it, I asked if he could have the vehicle transferred to his location since I picked that location based on travel time and picked lodging due to proximity to that location. The associate rather unhelpfully declared that was the best that could be done, regardless of any confirmation #. I arrive at the airport pickup location only to be turned away almost instantly. 1. You MUST have a ROUND trip ticket to present at airport pickup locations in order to pickup a rental ( Even if you fly one way, each way, which is cheaper! A one way ticket isn't enough) Why was I not made aware of this by the associate at the time of the transfer??? 2. You NOW ( as of Jan 1st I was told) must have a valid major credit card in order to rent at certain AIRPORT rental locations! Usually this wouldn't be a problem, but my replacement did not reach me before I left home. I had used a debit card before and knew a credit card was always preferred but was confident it was a non issue due to experience. How wrong I was!!! Sure at the non-airport originally chosen location a debit card would have been just fine. That part was clearly explained to me by the lady at the counter at the airport location, she empathized but said she could do nothing. I asked for the manager and the eyes of the gentleman one register down lifted in my direction, he reiterated shaking his head and stating there was nothing that could be done, while tossing me a piece of paper with non- airport pickup locations and a customer service number to contact. If only everything in life was that easy, just shrug and throw your hands up. It's not their problem was the consensus, it was mine. Company values, customer service quality , and "guarantees" don't mean what they once did. I would like an explanation, however I won't get my hopes up, it's already been made clear that no one cares.

Elk Grove store was disappointing
Pros: The clerk was nice.
Cons: Pick up was kind of a joke. The car wasn't ready for a few minutes, and then the lady led us through a back room that was so disgustingly dirty, I would have been ashamed, and out the back of the store. The guy was still vacuuming it and there was still a carseat in the back. Then he had to re-vacuum it. They should have cleaned it and then drove it to the front where we inspect it and drive off. But, they did the same thing to the customer before us. We also dropped the car off about 8 hours early. We only had the car for about 10 hours, but the price wasn't any different. That wasn't surprising, but disappointing.

Safe driver
Pros: Ease of reserving
Cons: Had to pick up at airport, my driver had to pay for parking and took us a while to locate Avis. Very high price of added insurance .. All vehicles should come with standard navigation, should not be an upgrade. Difficult using phone navigation as it was hard trying to drive and read small guide thru phone as it had no sound when plugged in thru the USB port and no where to place phone without it falling, had to place on lap which is a dangerous option.
