Compact cars are the best choice for most vacationers visiting Brooklyn, particularly if you plan on exploring the roads yourself. One-way streets and narrow alleys are typical in Brooklyn and are difficult to navigate in a large vehicle. Streetside parking is also very difficult to find in the most popular parts of Brooklyn, so it pays to have a smaller vehicle that can fit in any spot available.
For the most part, the speed limit in Brooklyn is 25 mph, as that is the baseline speed limit in all of NYC unless signage says otherwise. However, drivers will see the occasional speed limits of 35, 45, and 50 mph depending on the size of the road. In the densest areas, the speed limit will occasionally be 20 mph.
Parking in Brooklyn, while not as expensive as it is in neighboring Manhattan, can cost a pretty penny and at times can be difficult to find. In general, it pays to stick to garage parking, as that is the most readily available option in Brooklyn. Streetside parallel parking is also available, but at variable rates, and it is largely dependent on the popularity of the immediate area. On a positive note, though, streetside parking is almost always free for everybody unless specific signage says otherwise or meters are present.

Pros:
Location was easy to get to in Brooklyn and the weekly rates were very affordable.Cons:
The type of car I reserved was unavailable and I had to wait for a different (and larger car) to be ready. It would be nice if they had more inventory of smaller vehicles.9.2 Wonderful

Pros:
The staff was fast, efficient and very friendly. The entire pickup took 5 minutes and drop off took 3 minutes. They were great.Cons:
It would have been nice if there was an after hours drop off possibility since the site closes at 5pm but I understand that’s difficult at this time. In the end we made it back 5 minutes before 5pm, thankfully.10.0 Wonderful

Pros:
Staff were very friendly at both locations, and efficient.Cons:
I had a Chevy Equinox, drove it entirely normally (no speeding), but an hour into my journey I received a message that said 'engine power reduced' with no explanation. That's a car manufacturer issue, not Enterprise's, but it only had 3,000 miles on it, so it was alarming.2 locations in Brooklyn

Cons:
The car smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. I was in a hurry, and the attendant walked away after giving me the keys, so I didn't have time to find someone to see if I could exchange the car. However, the smell was so strong we had to drive with the windows down the entire 4 hour trip.10.0 Wonderful

Pros:
They charged me the wrong price (over $600 more). They told me they'd fix this but still have not. The display was broken (kept restarting), including the backup camera, which is a safety issue. And then the battery died. They couldn't get a towing truck there for 4 hours. And refused to book me a Lyft to the airport. I had to pay out of pocket, and we'll see if they refund me that price, or if I have to do it through my credit card company. Literally went wrong every step of the way, and they handled it terribly every step of the way.Cons:

Pros:
Eventually I got a car. It ran fine.Cons:
Counter staff tried to up-sell me on everything. Initially, he told me that there were no cars like what I reserved. (I reserved a compact) tried to get me to take a pickup truck or sports car for significantly more money. told me that the extra insurance I purchased wasn't worth anything and that I should buy their extra insurance on top of that. He finally "found" a car (larger than the one I wanted) and told me the wrong floor of the garage to go and get it. This all added 20-30 minutes to the pickup process. Inspecting the car was difficult because the garage was too dark to see anything. After leaving, I noticed a dent on the roof, dirty seats, and a slight smell like someone had been smoking in the car but then it was covered up with an air freshener. Also, their tolls policy is written strangely, possibly to convince you to opt into their overpriced unlimited tolls service.10.0 Wonderful

Pros:
Staff very helpful.Cons:
Not many people working, so line moved slowly. But it's a pandemic. That was probably just a safety precaution, which is appreciated.6 locations in Brooklyn

Pros:
The staff in BK was incredible, the car was excellent (and larger than what I thought I paid for, which was really helpful)Cons:
When I arrived there was an issue with the scanner; my name didn't pop up when I returned the car, and as a result I had to wait around while they figured it out, but no one ever explained the issue to me.3 locations in Brooklyn

Everything else, the car was filled with sand, it was given to me on little to no gas, I was unaware of the 30 min grace period on my reservation Causing me to rush to get the rental or lose my reservation, the location does not have any indication that it’s a thrifty location added with having hertz employees and signs.2.0 Poor

Pros:
The key remote to the car was Given to us low on battery so we had to manually do a lot because the key barely worked. The car wasn’t washed in or out which is pretty scary considering the pandemic. The car was given to us with less than even a quarter tank.Cons:
Better cars with working equipment, cleaner cars especially during a pandemic, and gas up the cars before handing over.2 locations in Brooklyn

This was a beautiful car, the customer service was great and everything was accommodating. My only complaint was that the price is high. I suppose it is competitive but it is a lot of money. If they lowered the price, I would be more likely to rent frequently. One location in Brooklyn
