7.9 Good
Pros: Clare was superb host and could not do enough for us. The breakfast was excellent and lovely hot water for bath etc. Coffee and tea facilities etc very good. The views were beautiful.
Cons: Clare said she wanted to upgrade the room and this was definitely needed. It was the only thing that let this stay down. There was a ground floor room we were going to have but this changed by arrival. I do not know what the other room is like.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Claire was an amazing host, she tended to us so well and very friendly. At one point we were really hungry so she brought us some munchies to snack. Lovely stay, lovely family :-)

Pros: the breakfast was excellent and options were plentiful. eggs cooked to our liking and were excellent quality. the bed was comfortable and the view from our room was excellent - exactly what we needed for a wedding locally.
Cons: the phone reception is intermittent (I was on Vodafone) due to the remote location but this is to be expected given how rural the B&B is but something to consider if this is really important to you. No fault of the venue of course, I blame Vodafone....

Pros: the breakfast was really good. So much to choose from and the staff were lovely. Even though I was on my own, I felt very comfortable and they were very helpful and friendly. The room was fine. It wasn't huge but everything was there and certainly enough space for everything. The bar area was nice to sit in before I checked in and nice and cosy to have a drink. the car park had enough space which was great
Cons: It would have been good to have a lift to the second floor but it wasn't a major issue and the staff were available to help with luggage.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff here are lovely. We had dinner and despite a two events going on elsewhere in the hotel, service was excellent and food great.
Cons: If I have to say anything negative it is that the shower doesn’t have much power, but you could always have a bath.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice as always
5.4 Okay
Pros: Location was handy for a visit to friends
Cons: Too expensive given the standard of accommodation. Room not ready at check in. Cleaning staff sat on the floor of room corridors chatting before they began servicing rooms. Rooms too warm/no air con.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The breakfast was very good. When I reported the missing tv remote the receptionist said she would get it replaced, but told her we would not be needing it as only there one night
Cons: The hotel looked nice, great location, however, once in the room I found rubbish left from the previous occupants in the wardrobe and one drawer, there was no TV remote, heavy dust on lamps above the bed, in the bathroom the grouting in the shower area needed cleaning. On the bed was a small throw across the bed, with a huge yellowy stain on it, which I could only describe as dried bodily fluid. This was very apparent and clearly visible to whomever made up the bed. Plus the glass shelves, in the breakfast room, above the toaster had a heavy layer of dust on them.
7.5 Good
Pros: We stayed at the Best western hotel to go to a wedding, it was a good choice, the staff were really nice.
Cons: The hotel was a little bit far from where we had to go for the wedding.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The hotel is quite pleasant, parking is a breeze, the grounds are well kept with nice outdoor furniture etc. Ideal for a function. Staff on check in were very pleasant and efficient. the staff otherwise, seemed to be a little "inconvenienced" by customers....
Cons: As I said, quite nice, but it is located close by the A12.. that's a very busy road 24 / 7 ...The room lacked Air Con and was too warm to keep the windows closed(the heating was off) ....however, the road is too noisy to keep them open. The room itself felt a bit "cheap & nasty" and was a bit tired and dated.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Nice location lovely grounds
Cons: Ridiculous price £175 for a delux room which was adequate at best. TV didnt work, very small, tired decoration
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice friendly staff and welcome. Good car parking facilities.
Cons: Four poster bed obscured view of TV on one side of the bed.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The position re the reason for My visit to area
Cons: It was tired inside
7.1 Good
Pros: Staff are helpful. Car park is good and nice shower!
Cons: No Wi-Fi in the room!!
5.8 Okay
Pros: The location suited us as we had travelled for a family wedding & the hotel was close to both the motorway & the venue. The staff were pleasent & cheerful.
Cons: The room smelt odd & it was incredibly noisy. There was obviously a party on the Saturday evening & we could hear other guests going back to their rooms into the early hours of the morning. This on it's own wouldn't have been too bad but there were noises from the plumbing & noises from the road too. Unfortunately this didn't make it very restful.

Pros: Nice breakfast. Good bar and prices. Comfy room. Very good value for money. Have stayed b4 and will stay again.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The area was great for local pubs restaurants and takeaways.
Cons: Rooms were very basic but were clean Can’t knock it for the price and lovely breakfast and staff were very welcoming
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent family room
Cons: No lift
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location was really lovely and the accommodation was nice. Brilliant stuff. I really enjoyed myself. It's only because I had to return home for work the next morning that's why I couldn't stay longer. I would definitely stay there again whenever I'm in the area!!! Highly recommended.
Cons: My room was smelling of smoke presumably because it was close to the smokers' area and the previous occupant of the room had left the window open. Thankfully, a staff member provided a spray to get rid of the smoke. If the smoke area could be moved away from near the rooms, better. Other than that, it's a wonderful hotel in a lovely area. No question about that!!!

1.0 Poor
Pros: Breakfast
Cons: everyhingp
6.7 Good
Pros: Drink prices and cheap over night stay.
Cons: Needs update. Noise from A12
7.5 Good
Pros: Good value for money, you get what you pay for. Convenient chalet type rooms, which yo ca park immediately outside of.
Cons: The accommodation is a little tired.. the bathrooms definitely need a refresh. The water pressure in the shower was por, but plenty of hot water.
6.7 Good
Pros: Friendly, helpful staff. Good value lunch menu in the bar. Fairly clean and comfortable.
Cons: The hotel’s main building is historic but the majority of rooms are in what appeared to be stable blocks, the horses would complain about the lack of space! Very dated windows and not attractive from the outside. The room smelt mouldy and our pjs still smelt mouldy when we unpacked them at home. There was an event in the function room approx 50 metres from ours, the music was very loud and disruption from partying guests kept us awake till after 1 am. It would have been better to stay in a room away from the venue and it’s guest or given the choice.
6.7 Good
Pros: Staff were friendly. Bed was comfortable. I had control over the heating.
Cons: The room was dirty. No mattress protector on the bed. The hairdryer and hair and fluff stuck to it. Bath had hair in it. Taps on WHB fitted too close to the side so not possible to get your hand under neath and if you did water went on the floor. Shower gel had been opened and partially used. Back of the toilet seat, yuck!!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It was clean and comfortable.
Cons: Nothing
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The breakfast
Cons: You couldn’t shower as the water pressure was so low You could feel the metal springs and frame when you were laying on the mattress
8.8 Excellent
Cons: The room whilst lovely had a musty smell
6.0 Good
Cons: The visit was fine except that the mattress on one of the twin beds was very uncomfortable - it needs replacing - I did tell the receptionist as we checked out and she said she would get it replaced - hopefully she will
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Almost everything else. The hotel is a bit dated and certainly not luxurious. But it was very clean and comfortable at a very reasonable price.
Cons: There was no spoon for the tea tray.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice apartment, walking to town center, close to shops, bars, restaurants etc
7.1 Good
Pros: The apartment has a lovely setting overlooking the quay with a supermarket within 5 minutes walk. Rooms are spacious and there is a large balcony
Cons: On arrival the apartment hadn't been checked very well for damages. The shower was broken as the inner tube had been removed, freezer door wouldn't shut as door was left open, curtain pole hanging off wall, cigarette butts in a dish on balcony. Having said all the above, the maintenance guy fixed everything once I called the office. However had the apartment been checked properly this would not have been missed. You can also hear the neighbour upstairs stomping around. Only stayed two nights and the noise was from 8pm til 1am both nights.
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: The location is within walking distance to town. The balcony is nice but there are only two cheap, uncomfortable beach chairs to sit on outside.
Cons: Everything else was a nightmare! -Cleaners never showed up my first day, so the house was still being cleaned hours after check in. -when it was finally “clean” the dishes were still covered in green dish soap and the cabinets were soaked with water from the dishes not being properly dried first. The bath mat had hair all over it. -they give you one garbage bag for your stay and don’t tell you where to dump the garbage. But upon departure told me I left a “mess” in the apartment. I had two bags and a box of cups neatly sitting next to the garbage. Maybe there was a “mess” because I couldn’t throw out the trash. The first night I made mussels and literally had to put the garbage can on the outdoor patio because the apartment stunk (no circulation) -The apartment which boasts being able to host 6 people only had 2 forks! (See photos) -no mention of where the jacuzzi was -when I complained they offered me a refund, then reneged on their offer and CHARGED ME FULL PRICE without telling me. -They accused me of having a party and unprofessionally texted me two days after I checked out telling me about the mess, even though they specifically told me another guest was checking in after me. -they lied throughout the entire process and nothing they said added up. I’m sure they’ll try to defend themselves below but honestly my best advice is to STAY ELSEWHERE. There are plenty of cheaper, more reliable & honest options in Chelmsford. If you do choose to stay here my advice is to take pictures of everything when you arrive in the apartment and again when you leave it. Because they WILL try to screw you over. Thank you booking.com for resolving this issue.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Spaciousness
Cons: Dirty. Dusty. Cobwebs. Kettle extreme scales and unusable.
7.5 Good
Pros: Clean, safe place
Cons: Damage deposit taken, didn't realise till I had booked the place. They have the Credit Card details, so if there is a genuine issue surely it can be dealt with afterwards. Think they have had trouble here before, no need to tar everybody with same brush. Police called at Apartment during our stay, looking for someone..... Took a while to get Damage deposit back, it was returned, but I do not have time to chase this, I run my own business's This put me off booking again. Clean place though.
6.7 Good
Pros: Location was good and the apartment was very nice
Cons: The keys were not where they should have been. The apartment had been used and had not been cleaned. There was food in fridge, rubbish in bins, beds unmade, dirty towels in bathroom.
7.5 Good
Pros: Clean, easy arrival instructions.
Cons: No hot tub as advertised??? Damage to the sofas and curtain rails. £150 security deposit taken but no inventory to complete on arrival so worries during the stay that your deposit could be taken for damage not caused by yourself. This also wasn’t stated on the original booking.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean tidy and good facilities

We arrived quite late and the young lady on duty waited to help us locate the accommodation as the postcode does not take you to the address, she even came out in the damp cold evening to wave us down. All staff are very welcoming. Definitely recommend this place.

Pros: Can I give this hotel any more than 5 stars?? One of the best hotels I've stayed at. The room is amazing value - attention to detail is great. The staff were, without exception, all kind and helpful. The evening menu was original and delicious. I'm trying to find an excuse to travel again for work just so I can stay at this hotel. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Cons: Absolutely nothing. Cannot fault it.

Pros: Hotel is superb & very clean!
Cons: Room service for food as I had to drive in to town for something to eat. You need to cater for single travellers who don't want to sit in a pub on their own.

Pros: Staff from arrival to leaving were all really pleasant and I felt that they were happy in work.. The food was lovely both the evening meal and breakfast, nice freshly cooked and very tasty. The whole site was really well kept and felt fresh, and the chefs garden was well managed and added to the tasty food..
Cons: There is nothing that I didn't like.

Pros: Check in was quick and was shown to the room immediately. The room itself was immaculate, with a separate bathroom across the hallway from the bedroom. The bathroom facilities were brilliant, with a shower and a bath located in the center of the room. The bedroom was cosy, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The room had a large amount of additional equipment which you'd not expect, such as a high powered fan and a heater. The room came with Costa filtered coffee as well as fresh cows milk which was a nice surprise. Finally, the evening meal was fantastic (this night in particular it was Thai night).
Cons: N/A.

Loved the garden area outside our room, the spacious and super comfortable room, the amazing food (you just have to eat at the restaurant here!), and all the amenities. Free parking in a huge parking lot was amazing. WiFi worked great. The price was very reasonable. Would totally stay here again and again if I could!
