Lake view East
Fun area, good for us as it's near family here, always a welcome option. Beds very comfy. Friendly.
Rough around the edges
Location was good, and it was nice to have the option for parking in the ramp around the corner. The staff was friendly enough but not very helpful with the issues with our radiator. The price seemed reasonable, although less so when we saw how small the room was, how noisy the radiators were, and how thin the walls were.
Heat is provided by old-timey radiators which clank and are hard to control. The front desk wasn't very helpful when we couldn't get one closed (we were roasting)- they just said, "turn the knob" (duh). Thanks to paper-thin walls, we got to hear all the noise from the hallway, plus the couple upstairs, um, coupling on a squeaky bed. The breakfast was disappointing.
Could use a facelift
Front desk very helpful. Room spacious. Beds very comfortable.
Hallway dingy. Room furniture sparing and dingy. Room doesn't have a closed off closet. Carpet and walls could be brighter.
Moving Day in Chicago
The staff is always so friendly and helpful. Paul was so polite and upgraded my room so my daughter, with whom I was visiting, could stay with me and we could each have our own beds.
My room had a hint of cigarette smoke when we first arrived. I had to spray it. The sign clearly stated NO SMOKING.
The place is in an old building, which is cool, but also has its drawbacks. I liked the feel of the place generally. It's definitely not posh, and you won't break the bank to stay here.
The bathroom was pretty lousy. Low shower head, toilet was on a tilt, and the room itself needs updating.
Bathroom was too small. The door hits the toilet, would have liked to have a comfortable. Chair or couch. Shower just trickles. The toilet clogged. Twice. Staff was great and took Carr of the clogs immediately
The radiator was SUPER noisy, and we were unable to control the temperature so it was not a good night of sleep. We were told it was being addressed the day we checked out, so we'd be willing to try them again. Cute place.
Nice location and space but a bit dated.
Size of beds, room, and bathrooms were great (we booked a 2 Queen room). Room was very quiet and the beds were comfortable. Plenty of space for our young children to run and play a bit before bed. The location is also great with plenty of restaurants in easy walking distance. Thanks to the attentive staff at check-in, I also managed to snag the last free street parking spot immediately in front of the hotel.
Age/quality of bathroom wasn't great, the little electric heater in the wall wasn't enough to make up for the cold air leaking in around the window-mounted air conditioner, and the breakfast wasn't that impressive (cereal, bagels, yogurt, and microwave sandwiches).
Comfortable and quiet in busy Lincoln Park
Friendly attentive staff during the day. Large rooms. Great neighborhood close to public transport.
Good value for the money. In a great area, Staff was excellent.
The price was very good for Chicago in the summer. Its a perfect location if you're coming for a Cubs game!
Nice but issues at check in
The atmosphere was nice. the architecture looks old but it makes you feel cozy. The rooms are nice. It's very clean.
During check in I was asked for a deposit of $60 which I was not informed of prior to my visit. There was no infomation on it. I did not have much money so I was left asking family to transfer money into my account. I'm only 19 and was in town for a special event. My room was paid for by family not me. So I was embarrassed and worried that I would be steamed without a room. I would suggest that you inform your guests that even after they pay for the room they need to put down $60 as well.
The staff was great. The price was great. The continental breakfast was great. The only flaw was the clanking of the pipes at all hours ( steam radiator heat) and the garbage trucks driving up the alley way at 6 a.m.I recommend staying on the west side of the hotel (away from the alley way)
The steam radiator heat made all sorts of loud clanking noises, and the alley way next to the hotel, was fairly loud when garbage trucks pulled in very early in the morning
Not far from Underground, nice area to walk at night, + 4PM Cookies
Only frozen burgers in the working and continental breakfast, hotel not really clean in the staircase.
Staff was helpful, friendly and service was always prompt and courteous. We were upgraded to a larger room without extra charge. Breakfast was more than expected. Location was great. Great internet access.
Room was large and comfortable but carpet outdated and steam radiators were sometimes noisy in the middle of the night.
The location was fab and the room was clean and comfortable. The staff was polite and helpful. The free coffee/tea in the lobby was great, the teatime cookes were good and the breakfast was filled with many options.
Staff very friendly and helpful, location very convenient, you can take tje bus on the subway to go to downtown for around a 15mn trip
I really enjoyed the quiet location and staff friendliness!
The location and the size
All Staff are excellent, courtious and helpful. Excellent location in Lincoln Park area. Good continental breakfast.
Lay-out of furniture in the room could be improved to get a little more space. The desk is particularily cramped with the bed.
The room, the staff and stmposhperhe.
The homey yet elegant atmosphere and the friendly staff. Theroom was lovely too
