9.2 Excellent
Pros: The tranquility and nature of the area
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is perfect. Staff is wonderful and comfort is great. We Europeans always love to see the preservation of Japanese interior style, local dressing code or cuisine. There is not much to improve, as everything is close to perfection.
Cons: I would like to see a little more fresh fruits at breakfast. Especially local Hokkaido fruits like melons should be absolutely fantastic to see more of!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful stay Helpful staff Ms Dom, the hotel staff Give the good advise for interest place to visit during our stay.
Cons: Buffet breakfast and dinner, Only two days dinner food are the same.00
7.1 Good
Pros: Great overall experience
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: Only the onsen hot spring was good.
Cons: I do not recommend this hotel. I have requested to stay in a non-smoking room and they gave a room with severe cigarette smoke odors. We asked the staff and he said we are fully booked and more rooms available. We asked to speak with the manager and changed to another with less smoke odor. Evidently the staff was not honest. I cannot tolerate this type of treatment when I am paying $437.00 USD for one night. The room was very old and outdated. Furthermore the food was terrible at the dinner buffet. The breakfast was a little better with baked croissant.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good and friendly staff, a staff who familiar with English escorted us throughout the period.
Cons: Nil
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our room was fantastic, with the onsen on the deck overlooking our private garden. We had the kaiseki dinner and the staff were so knowledgeable about the food and really friendly and helpful. The pillow personalisation was a lovely idea, something I've not seen before. I'd love to return!
Cons: I cannot fault this spa resort

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff and food were excellent. Very friendly and delicious!
Cons: Actually I think it was all very good! No real views of the lake from the hotel itself but it's very peaceful.
6.3 Good
Pros: The staff do not help unload luggage from our car. The staff do not help to move our luggage to our room. If they do not have sufficient staff, they should provide a trolley for us to move the luggage.
Cons: There is no open air onsen. The enclosed onsen is very small. This is an Onsen hotel. We come here for the Onsen which is disappointing.
7.9 Good
Pros: Quiet environment with birds singing every morning. Good and delicious meal. Waitor and waitress are very polite and helpful.
Cons: Onsen is good but many guests ( I heard them talking in Japanese) didn't wash well, as the guideline said, just poured one pot water on their body before they got in the onsen bath !!

Pros: No choice for dinner...take it or leave it so vegetarians beware
Cons: No choice for dinner...take it or leave it so vegetarians beware
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very peaceful and comfortable hotel - great location on the shores of Shikotsu-ko. Largely Japanese clientele when we were there who pad around the hotel in their yukata speaking in hushed tones. Friendly staff and lovely onsen. Good breakfast buffet with decent western options. The lake shore - in good weather - is absolutely beautiful and a great hopping off spot for hiking in the area.
Cons: When we arrived in the late evening the only dinner option was a buffet which was pricey. We could probably have made it to the village to get to the ramen shop before it closed, but didn't want to chance it. So we splashed out on the buffet.

Pros: We arrived a lot later than expected, and the owner was waiting for us patiently. He greeted us warmly knowing that we had a long journey - even offering us a can of beer and mineral water. :) The next morning, we had a delicious homemade breakfast before rushing to the airport for our flight back, complete with freshly made bread, salad and even cheesecake :D The accommodation is also very well decorated, with a nice homely atmosphere. Thank you so much for the kind hospitality - we'll definitely return to North Gate Inn the next time we're in the area again ^^
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly couple running it. I guess they have about 5 rooms so it more like a family run bed and breakfast that you might find in England. Rooms were very modern and newly furnished. Great breakfast and different from the standard Japanese fare we had in other places.
Cons: There are no easy to get to dinner venues so you need your own transport

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect!
Cons: I'd give a 10/10 rating if only they provide at least an hourly shuttle bus to the airport.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Room is clean and modern. Hotel is near to the New Chitose Airport. Can easily take the bus right outside of the hotel. Great place to stay if you have an early flight to catch the next day.
Cons: Nothing.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nice price and good interior design. Modern and stylish, clean and tidy. Combined traditional Japanese and modern style, thus spacious and beautiful.
Cons: Parking lot were full. The nearest cheap and useful parking lot is 5min far away from hotel.
7.5 Good
Pros: New and clean, very spacious room
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything was really good~
Cons: The only thing is parking. We arrived late and they don't have any parking space in their own parkade so we have to park our car in the nearby parking lot. We have so many luggages and it's really not as convenient to unload an upload our luggage in the front door.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is a very pleasant surprise. It is very modern, the rooms are very nice and spacious (good to rearrange your suitcase before the flight). The receptionists are very attentive, polite and helpful (e.g. by ordering taxi or giving you advice). The price is very fair. The location is 5 minutes from the train station Chitose by foot. There are plenty of restaurants around it. And a 7-eleven is right opposite. From here to the airport by taxi is 1600 Yen and takes less than 15 minutes. Hint: the airport is basically deserted till 6:30, the ANA counters only opened towards 6.45 AM (this was on September 30, 2019) and my flight to Tokyo was at 7:45. I got there way too early. If you arrive at the airport at 6:30 AM all should be good (I was there at 6:10 and had to hang around). Pay attention, if you have a transfer in Tokyo to a foreign country, you need to choose the dedicated counters. It was a very nice last night on Hokkaido before I flew home. And if I have an early flight, I will spend my last night at this hotel again and arrive the evening before. It takes away the hassles. Thank you.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location to rail, metro and short 15 minute journey to airport (early flight). Breakfast was good and polite staff.
Cons: Sometimes difficult to communicate with front desk staff, but manageable. Not a great selection of food choices in the immediate area, but ok for a stop over which is why I chose this hotel. A little far out from Sapporo but again stay was very short so not so much of a problem for a day or two.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Easy check in, central, good value
Cons: They charge extra to park the car
9.6 Excellent
Pros: New and modern furnishings. Friendly and helpful staff. Location is quite near chitose station. But still About 10 min walk. There is an izakaya right below the hotel but when we went on a Friday night they only took reservations. Overall recommended to stay there if you want to be nearer to the aiport.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Room is very clean. Stuffs are nice! It’s takes about 5 to 10 minutes from train station by walking.
Cons: In room refrigerator is noisy.

Pros: Everything, so peaceful
Cons: N/A
8.3 Excellent
Pros: This is a highly rated place and I must say my wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the level of service on our first day. Food was excellent and the staff took special care of your requests. In room Onsen is great. The consumables in the room is great. Cold brew coffee in the mornings is great! This wonderful place is situated in a peaceful and serene environment. Great if your intention is to switch off and attain inner peace.
Cons: We are not locals so we were generally hoping for a staff to show us the traditional Japanese way of doing things. Did not happen but maybe because the staff didn’t understand English very well. The staff (male) serving us dinner on our second (last) night was pretty awful. Request for a simple tea took 3 courses and multiple reminders. He took short cuts in his serving of our food. We felt very clearly the lack of intention to serve us. The last course (dessert) took about 15-20 min of waiting. We were clearly an unwanted guest to him and we were pretty upset given the price we paid for this place. This is one of the reasons why this place did not score perfect for service. I must say the dinner in our first night was good. And the female staff was top notch despite her limited English. The second reason why this place did not score a perfect for service is because on the day of our checkout, the staff at the reception were clearly uninterested to serve us. I had to move my car to the sheltered lobby because of rain. My wife had to move all the luggage herself out with their staff just standing and looking. Very different feeling we were getting compared to the first day. Note: If this was a budget or normal hotel, the service failures would be acceptable. But this really is not.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Courteous, friendly staff. Peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. Excellent accomodations. Meals were also excellent,
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The cleanliness of the hotel, the friendliness of the staff and the overall service.
Cons: Nothing.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff were friendly and attentive. Great room. Food was fantastic, like Michelin star restaurant, that is fanciful and in small portions over 10 courses. High quality ingrediets like abalone, wagyu beef.
Cons: There were brown particles floating in our private onsen. The staff said it’s onsen particles and perfectly fine. But it still grossed us out. They look like brown dirt.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: private hot spring bath
Cons: small shower room
7.9 Good
Pros: open air bath and meals
Cons: the room is too small to fit 2 big luggages.

Pros: After a long flight, it was great to have such an easy place to settle down. Staff was helpful and the included breakfast was plentiful.
Cons: The hotel is right in the airport which is closed for a good part of the night so no nearby stores or restaurants. There are also no early trains out from the airport (first train out just before 7 am). Staying in chitose or sapporo would make for an earlier start.

Cons: Nothing- perfect for a no frills airport hotel.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Its located with in the airport, with the free coupon to the airport hot spring.
Cons: room is a bit small, breakfast closed a bit early.
7.1 Good
Pros: The only reason for the stay was because of the early morning flight. There is no proper signage to the hotel. We had to google other bloggers to find out the directions. Even airport staff do not know where it is.
Cons: Furnishing is a bit out of date. Room did not appear as per pictures here. For the free drinks, we got the beer and wine, which were a bit stale and sourish taste.

Cons: Nothing. Great location with onsen as well.

Food, presents, fun kids stuff, the airport is well equipped. (not the worst place to get snowed in) the hotel room was pleasant clean and convenient. There is even a detached spa/onsen on the 4th floor
Cons: As far as airport hotels go this place was killer.

Pros: Everything!
Cons: Not applicable
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Room was small but ok for one night. Very clean and a good location for airport. Very easy transfer booked the night before.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I booked 2 room with queen bed. The rooms were small as usual (Japanese Style). There was coffee machine within the room which it’s free. They provide 4 types of drink(but I remember only 3 of them which are coffee, green tea and ceylon tea). The location wasn’t far from the JR station. They also have onsen, which it’s also free. I didn’t have a chance to try cause I was too tired from the trip. Lastly, they also have a bus to take you to the airport for free. It takes around 20-30 minutes to the airport.
Cons: They only gave 1 room card for each room.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hot spring and beautiful scenery surrounding shikotsuko lake.
Cons: WiFi accessible only lobby area - could not access WiFi inside room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lake side room's view is fantastic, room was clean, quiet and comfortable, in-room Kaiseki dinner was amazing and very delicious, and the buffet breakfast was good and delicious, the nice lake view onsen is amazing.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It's an onsen over 100 years history. Lake view is stunning and the general environment is quiet and peaceful. Make sure to book the lake view room. Food is nice in compared with the price you paid. If you reach there by Jan & July, the outdoor onsen water level will be at the highest point. We were there this Mar and water level up to 110cm +/- only, so a bit disappointing but it's the nature, no problem. Easy access with shuttle bus service from Sapporo station. You may ask the hotel staff to book for you and at 500 yen one way. will recommend for anyone.
Cons: The women outdoor onsen is abt 30m from the exit, it is a bit chilling to walk along. Make sure you put an extra towel.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We booked a lake side room, the view is fantastic. There are cherry trees outside. It would be great to stay there during cherry blossom season. We stayed there on 30 April. When we checked out on 1 May, we got a souvenir from the Hotel for celebrating the new era "令和". It's sweet.
Cons: Cigarette smell in the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing view, unique outdoor onsen, excellent service with a beautiful dinner and buffet breakfast
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The view from the room over the lake was great. We appeared to be the only non Japanese staying. Traditional meals in our room each night were memorable.
Cons: Bedding was too hot and as very little English spoken by staff, it did not appear possible to get an alternative.
7.9 Good
Pros: Love the outdoor spring bath. Cleanest water I've ever soaked in.
Cons: The mold in the other onsen pools.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: An onsen hotel full of history with great view of the Lake. Very clean. The open air onsen at the end of a secret path among trees is really a blessing. A great place to enjoy traditional Japanese onsen and bring out your inter peace.
Cons: Facilities are a bit old. Food is ok. Considering its location, driving is the best way. No milk is available after taking a bath. No shower in the room.
6.3 Good
Pros: The hot springs, scenery and general environment a wonderful experience. The evening meal, with a variety of Japanese dishes, delightful.
Cons: The hotel has seen better days. No shower facilities in room which adds to the Onsen experience but would prefer to be able to shower in my room in the morning. Breakfast average.
4.6 Okay
Pros: Views from room were amazing. Onson okay but needs refurb. Great location.
Cons: It's very dated and needs a refurbishment. Tinned fruit for breakfast!!! Yuk.Worn carpets. No choice at dinner, same set meal each night, so it was boring on the 3rd night. Staff said there was nowhere to hike but when you went to the tourist center nearby there were lots of trails up the vulcanos in the area.

Pros: It’s very near the JR station, we can walk to/from hotel back to JR station in less than 5 mins.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Close to airport
Cons: Beds very hard
7.1 Good
Pros: Literally few minutes walk from Chitose train station, so if landing into the airport or vice versa heading back out from Sapporo for early flight, it’s very convenient. Room quite spacious for a Japanese three star rating business hotel. We arrived early, staff were happy to take luggage and place on hold. Be warned though they are very strict with their check in time and didn’t let guests check in prior to 3 pm which is fine.
Cons: Few aspects which were a little frustrating, firstly the transfer service, one of the reasons I booked the hotel was the availability of the airport shuttle, no mention anywhere that they offer one service it would appear on the hour, with extremely limited seats, despite asking well ahead of time we were told it was fully booked, so we had to train to the airport instead. The comfort of the room, the beds were fine as was the room itself, however the air conditioner was not able to cool the room, it was set to 28 degrees and insanely hot. When I queried this with reception they said there was nothing they could do, I found this quite amazing and still perplexed. One of the front reception staff came to see, nodded her head, said open the window, and that only the communal areas had air conditioning working. I much prefer fresh air, however when one is on the 13th floor and the windows don’t have fly screens on and you are right near the airport, I somehow can’t quite believe this is the accepted practice. Was it the case they don’t allow guests to have cooling on until a certain time of year, or alternatively were we given a room with a broken air conditioner. Given what I paid for the room I personally don’t find this acceptable. Lastly the breakfast area, despite being down there just after 630 when it opened, it was packed with guests, and bedlam, guests had saved tables for others, and it was basically impossible to find a seat, we did eventually but extremely disorganised.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It is a good location near JR Chitose station. Good breakfast with a variety of food. Public bath on the first floor for men and 14th. floor for women. It's a quiet area but Aeon shopping mall is just 3 minutes walk.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It's a few minutes walk from the JR Station and, since we were only supposed to spend the first night before embarking on our 10 days tour of the island, it was just OK. They offered free parking for our motorcycle rental. Breakfast with many options and of good quality.
Cons: The room was way very small considering it was a standard room. The pillow wasn't so comfortable. It would be nice if hotels in japan would offer a dual option, hard and soft.

Pros: Rooms were awesome and really clean. So was the bathroom. And as it is for japan help was given whenever I needed some. They arranged taxi for me at the early hours and the taxi driver was really helpful too.
Cons: I chose a single room with shared bathroom. But it was too noisy. What people were doing outside that sound would be really clear in your room even if you close the doors. Except for this everything was top notch.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was incredibly friendly, hosting an Okonomiyaki party with free food and drink. It was great to try some more traditional japanese food, bringing together the guests and owners. The place was spotless and there was extension cords for the power plug and USB plugs which made life incredibly easy. It was a pleasure to stay and if I fly from Sapporo again, I will make sure to stay here again.

7.9 Good
Pros: nice public facilities for guests to use
5.0 Okay
Pros: Close of the airport, but reaching it by public transport is a bit challenging for non-Japanese
Cons: Considering the previous rating, we are a bit surprised as we were quite disappointed by this place. First, the owner does not speak a single word of English, so he points to printed explanations on the wall when we have a question. Thanks to his tablet, he asked if we would pay by cash or card, but finally said he could not use the card, but the money was taken from booking.com, so we did not understand what happened. We booked a taxi with him, but we were afraid this would not work, and the taxi finally arrived earlier than expected. The kitchen was not very clean, with large open garbage in the space. There is no restaurant in the area. The bathroom is located at the back of the house, stuck between the boiler and a storage room.
