The staff was fantastic. I think the pricing was a little high, but there was a big event in Madison that weekend.
Basic, clean and friendly. Nice little breakfast buffet and great coffee.
Very comfortable and quiet. Hotel staff was apologetic for not having my reservation in the system and made good on it. The hotel did not have my reservation--not clear where the ball was dropped. I had my printed reservation with me, they had an open room and they honored the price, so everything worked out. But it could have been a big problem if they were full. Please review your process.
We went to Madison for a house concert and to visit a friend who is attending UW Madison. The hotel was within 6 miles of both places so the location was great for us. The free breakfast in the morning was a bonus (eggs, sausage, waffles, biscuits and gravy, potatoes, oatmeal, fruits, juices etc). The place was clean, we forgot out suits so we didn't use the pool. The staff were all super helpful and friendly. Will for sure stay here again.
Nice variety at included breakfast bar. Manager's reception each evening with drinks and snacks. Free coffee an cookies by the front desk. Pool, hot tub, exercise room, fridge in the room. Friendly staff. Used to have flavored ice water dispenser (lemon/cucumber?) by the front desk, wasn't there this time.
I liked the friendly staff and the relaxing atmosphere. Upon entering the motel I felt I had just entered another world, a world of pampering and relaxation. Loved it. The room was comfortable but quite small and crowded.
The hotel is very conveniently located, very close to the highway but in a quiet place and I couldn't hear any noise at all in my room. It was just 15 min in car from the Alliant Energy Center which was the purpose of my trip and just 3 min in car or 10 min on foot from West Town Mall. A lot of restaurants with reasonble prices near this hotel. I wouldn't mind to have to have a refrigerator in the room. And it would be great to have a bigger variety of dishes at breakfast.
They offer a free daily all-you-can-eat breakfast that lasts until 10:00 a.m. and includes a great variety of food choices, from waffles to scrambled eggs to omelettes to cereal to pastries to corned beef hash. Very impressive and a huge cost saver for long stays. The pool area was small and "dingy," but I had little desire to swim so that was a minor factor. It could use some decor on the walls or something to make it look more appealing, especially since it's right by the elevators and most guests will see it.
Excellent price, fresh cookies, comfortable bed, nice and quiet room Got locked out of room, but that was my fault
Rooms are spacious and the extras such as wine at 5 and free breakfast make this our favorite hotel in Madison
Great value, easy checkin and checkout, very helpful staff. I left briefcase in room in error. Contacted by phone, case found, easy pickup later in day. Room clean & comfortable. Convenient, tasty breakfast. Nothing
The location to entertainment and attractions. Food was excellent.
Location and proximity to the event I was attending. The Wisconsin Ironman was held at the Menona Terrace and this was a short five minute walk to the event. Service and accommodations were top notch. Underground Parking was sparse and tight given I drive a full size vehicle. Managed to find parking but if there are any drawbacks on this hotel, this is all I could find.
location is perfect it would be nice if they offered free breakfast paying extra for parking
Wonderful and welcoming staff. Great location right on the square..
Mostly clean room. Great location. Walk to Capitol, restaurants, and shops. Parking was easy. Attached to a Starbucks. Loud parties on the same floor. Loud security breaking up parties. Hallways smelled like marijuana. Pillows and mattress were overly soft. Didn't get a restful night's sleep. View was of one side of the Capitol and a gravel rooftop.
Very friendly and accommodating staff. Nice exercise room. Good location for walking into Madison for shops and restaurants. Nice to have the shuttle to and from the airport.
Close to State Street. Easy walk.
Staff was very friendly and eager to please. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived so they upgraded at no charge. Beautiful building. Cannot recommend highly enough.
The location was convenient and the room was clean. Everything was satisfactory. Enjoyed the hot tub and pool. I was surprised by the smaller size bed and pillows. I regret not having brought my own pillow. The bedding was not comfortable.Thin blanket. I prefer having a sink separate from the tub/toilet area. It makes it easier for more than one person to get ready at a time. The TV was directly across from one bed if that matters to whoever is in the other bed. Only shampoo not cream rinse in the bathroom. Every place I stay has both. Usually I bring my own but forgot this time. That was a bummer. There was nothing major to complain about but would try another place before staying again.
We had a change of plans and needed to shorten our stay. I called within the amount of time allotted to make changes. They would not refund me a night stay. They instead said they could cancel my reservation and rebook for $5 more! Why would I pay $5 more to stay less time? We canceled our reservation and went else where.
Clean, comfortable room. Breakfast was good.
It was clean and seemed to have amenities that would be nice if I was there longer than one night. I selected this hotel for the free airport shuttle. When I checked in and asked about the shuttle they told me they needed a 24 hour notice. All they could offer was to call a taxi for me. I said I could do that myself. Not happy. Also the bed was not very comfortable.
Nice big room. Good breakfast. Second floor was awkward. You had to take elevator up and it was slow. I often simply walked out the back door and walked around to the front of the building simply to get to the lobby or the pool.
Accommodations met our needs. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Our sausage at breakfast was cold, but otherwise it was good. If there had been a microwave I would have just heated them up. The eggs were hot
Clean & comfortable room. Un-cleaned parking lot. Main entrance parking was blocked by hotel cars and there was no place to stop and unload luggage on a snowy day. Had to park far from the lobby entrance and drag bags in over 6 inch snow covered road and walkways.
Convenient to highway for a weekend visit. The room was very comfortable, great pool and hot tub area, and a really nice breakfast. Easy access to Capitol area.
Definitely recommend this hotel. Great location, very clean and comfortable.
Nice quiet stay o Room smelled like someone had previously smoked in it though it was non smoking room also room seemed damp no matter how we adjusted the air conditioner
Good breakfast and location. Bedding was old and worn. .areas of the hotel had unpleasant smell
Beautiful view!!!! Amazing location Convenient restaurant on site with overall delicious food Room humid, even with A/C on Weak water pressure in shower
Friendly staff. Clean. Gorgeous view. Delicious breakfast overlooking the water. Sheridan has more comfortable beds for less than half the price.
Great location, room, friendly staff and really appreciated hotel shuttle.
Dining choices and the university are within easy walking distance. The staff is very accommodating. I wish they had told me before we made the reservation that parking costs $18.00 per day. Hot water after running faucet for a full five minutes on upper floors.
The restaurants, the rooms, the views, the staff Nothing
Funny how the other negative review I read came true. We had a reservation for a lake view and when we checked in we had to walk to another building only to find a view not of the lake but of a parking area and garbage bins. It took them 30 minutes to gets a room with a view of the lake as printed on our reservation. Make sure it is all set when you check in. Bed was uncomfortable and linens were not luxury linens. Once we got the kind of room promised on our reservation, we discovered the main ventillation system was located on the lake side of the building (really?!) and even though we were five stories above it, we couldn't open our window without hearing it. Also, room air conditioning blew right towards the bed. I love sleeping in a colder room, but constant moving cold air isn't pleasant. This hotel needs some management and property attention. Too bad because Madison is a nice town and deserves better.
Clean room, great location and views, conscientious staff. Limited cable options, unnecessary housekeeping occurred/disturbed when not requested.
Cordial, helpful staff. Prime location right on the lake. Beautiful rooms with great amenities. Pricey - you're paying a premium price, though you do get what you pay for!!!
We left an item in the room, called within hours but they were not helpful in retrieving the item. Very disappointed that they could not have made a little more effort in returning the item (it was not valuable, but was sentimental).
Great Lake view
location Rooms were less than impressive for a large name hotel. Ice machine on floor did not work. There was no microwave or refrigerator in room. Thought I was getting room with both. TV did not work. Extension cord was running across the floor under the rolling chair. Rolling desk chair was ripped on the arms. Tub/toilet room is so small you barely have room to turn around. Light switch under bed lamp did not work. Toilet did not flush well and handle felt like it might break off. No free breakfast offered.
I liked the room a lot. I also liked the shuttle they had to take you to downtown Nothing
No coffee machine No microwave No frig No complimentary breakfast.
The hotel was clean and the service was fine. Free Starbuck's coffee in the morning. The decor in the hallways was dark and dreary. They are planning to update rooms. I thought it just gave off a feeling of being faded. My stay was actually fine.
The hotel location made it easy to get downtown quickly. The room seemed very dated. There weren't any plugs that were easy to access either. Most unfortunate was the fact that I discovered dried blood on the comforter.
Very comfortable bed Lights next to the bed did not work, one wash cloth had blood on it, poor directions to the room, when I found the room the door had been propped open bu the deadbolt which made me feel uneasy as it was unexpected. Conference facilities and staff were sub-par.
Great service, clean and very friendly staff. I didn't get a King size bed which was no big deal to me and the clerk gave me a complimentary breakfast which was phenomenal.
Decent location Room was not very clean, dhower was broken, outlets did not work, klennex container was empty. Tiny issues, but speak to the lack of care. Mentioned issues to staff their reply was "thNks for letting us know" not a 3&1/2 star hotel
Clean, Close to everything for our convenience. Also the shuttle was very useful. Very uncomfortable bed and pillows. Noisy all night long couldn't sleep.
I stayed at the Sheraton this weekend for a wedding and my parents came down to stay with our four legged son, Charlie. The staff was so accommodating to my family and the concierge was wonderful, chatting with my parents and giving Charlie treats upon his request. I think the staff went over the top with accommodating both humans and pets. If we are in a bind with Charlie, in Madison ever again, I'll be staying at the Sheraton.
The pool was lovely Wall very thin, could hear the couple next door who were talking in a normal volume. Bathroom was small.
I liked the driver Henry, the entrance, location, amenities such as the free Starbucks coffee and fruit, and the Starbucks packets in the rooms. Our receptionist upon departure was very helpful and kind when we left (young black woman with longer dread type looking hair). I didn't like that for two people, we were provided one towel in our room. The rooms are definitely outdated compared to the rest of the hotel. Also, I didn't like that we reserved a king bed room and were put into a two bed full type of room. Our receptionist upon arrival wasn't very kind. She was sort of short with us.
My stay was great, the only thing I didn't like, was my exhaust fan didn't work when I took a shower.
Spacious room. Clean. Excellent breakfast!!
Overall a very good place. I hear a lot of noises overnight from outside that wake me up despite being on a higher floor. I'm thinking about asking for a different room area.
The staff are friendly. The facility is clean and well organized. And it is in a very good location.
Staff was awesome -- friendly, helpful, engaging. The room was clean, well laid-out, functional. Super-close to the square, easy parking, good breakfast. Nothing.
Clean No ice machine on the 4th
Location, Breakfast, small loby bar Air conditioning unit was loud, fan was strong - blowing directly on bed. Was there for 2 nites - never did get this figured out for temp.
The staff were very professional. The cleaning crew were very polite and accommodating. I thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. The location was central to all the places I had to conduct business During my week there, several times I could smell marijuana. I know that this is not the fault of the establishment, but it made me feel like I wasn't in the safest place. They did however, evict the guests that were participating in the illegal activities immediately.
Front desk manager Alan Rose is super friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was good and we enjoyed the hot tub!
I liked that they had a pool and staff was nice. They have elevators. Usually I don't see elevators in any other super 8 I've been to. Floor was not as clean when I walked in.
We felt warm and welcome as we entered the lobby. The hostess at the main desk was very helpful providing us with directions to different businesses. As for the room, it was large and quiet and very clean. It left us feeling as if we were at home. Overall, this was a very good experience and we would not hesitate to stay again
Overall pleasant experience. Clean, friendly, comfortable. Good price. Adequate breakfast. Convenient location to downtown: we visited capitol area in evening, and again after breakfast.
The heating/AC in these rooms is a joke! The 'bedroom' is freezing and the other room is hot! Only 1 unit in the room, controlled by a thermostat in the hot room! Kept having to get keys remade for a multi-night stay. Pool area was so bad with chlorine small, could not stay in there more than 10 minutes! Did seem better the 2nd time we went, but still there. Did appreciate the cookies/fruit at the front desk, parking is good, ( a little hard to get to location of hotel, but plenty of parking there, including for big trailers and trucks. Room was quiet and breakfast was good, overall, it was an o.k. stay, had better, had worse. Probably would stay again, but wish they would fix a few things! Oh, friendly people, too!
Very friendly and helpful hotel clerk. Nice clean, quiet room. Group of softball teams there but very quiet. Great breakfast and opened early to accommodate early tournament times. The hotel is right across from a Noodles & Co, Starbucks, Buffalo Wild Wings and grocery store, to name a few, all within walking distance. I would agree with the a/c issue. Sometimes too hot and then too cool. Not sure what that was all about.
Very nice place to stay outside of the Madison campus area, but close enough to get there quickly.
Staff helpful, rooms in good shape, free breakfast pretty good too. Only problem is location, too close to the highway so plenty of road noise.
Our experience with the Country Inn Suites of Madison was a wonderful, warm and comfortable experience! The place was full of charm and great personel!
Choose this hotel as our options were limited for the WI ironman- price was very high hopefully this was due to it being ironman weekend and not their regular rate. Breakfast could have been better- ran out of coffee and other things! Exercise facility wasn't much but they did offer free passes to Anytime Fitness. Easy to get to from highway very small pool area
Good location, great staff. Hotel is by highway. My room was on the side facing the highway, but it was very quiet.
Our room was quite spacious with plenty of room for our 2 year old and a 2 month old infant. Room was quite comfortable and yet was one of the more inexpensive rooms on our trip from Montana to Michigan. The continental breakfast was wonderful, especially the made to order waffles that my 2 year old enjoyed. Best hotel on our trip.
The beds were comfortable and the semi hot breakfast was nice. God location in Madison.
The customer service is great!!!
The staff welcomes you with a smile and a delicious fresh baked choclate chip cookie. They think ahead by supplying several tokens when parking your car, so that you can go in and out without having to ask for more tokens each time time you want to leave the parking lot. The hotel looks modern yet warm. The rooms have a sufficient size, are not noisy at all and the beds slept comfortable. It's located at a few minutes walking distance from the action at State Street. The business center of the hotel is very easy to use for printing a boarding pass for example and throughout the hotel there is free WiFi. Good value for your money!!
I was on a business trip to Madison - it was very convenient, comfortable and staff were helpful, courteous and attentive. It was fine.
Staff very friendly and helpfull, room absolutely clean, ideal location for business in the State Street area
Next to Mechancial room, air handler comes on and off all nite. Bed vibrates with the unit
Pillows, comforters,, shower Old smell in hallways, old beds
I stayed here before my marathon and they set up snacks for people getting up earlier so we didn't miss out on breakfast. The rooms were clean and spacious. It is further from downtown but it was nice to get away from all the traffic and craziness of downtown.
Clean room Staff was apathetic. Room was cramped & Overpriced. Hotel was full of kids for some sports event. Everything worth going to was a 20 minutes drive away. I wouldn't stay again.
The staff was warm and kind, the room was clean, the facilities were acceptable. When looking for matches, the bartender was kind enough to provide from his personal stash. So gracious. Our issue was with the other patrons of the hotel. 2 hookers walking in from the lobby. The pool was packed with adults that were loud and intoxicated. There was an actual brawl in the pool/spa area. One "bro" fell onto my 9 y/o. Another poured his beer into the hot tub. We had neighbors screaming down the hall on our L, three very loud frat boys on our R, and some sort of elephant walker stomping above us and possibly falling off the furniture. Perhaps I should have paid more for a room that would weed out these people, or paid less for an option with no pool or bar.
Food was excellent I didn't have any problems
Shampoo is awsome. Room clean Good staff Hotel very LOUD!!! Rooms are not well insulated for sound and not a place for a relaxing at all. The hotel is right next to the highway and you could hear the cats all night.
The selection of food. Sunday time for breakfast should have been until 10:30am. Ran out of items that were not replaced in a timely manner. Staff at breakfast were it helpful.
Staff was friendly and helpful and the room was very clean.
Great rooms, Friendly staff. Bar was very nice as well. Tiny, Tiny swimming pool, especially if you have kids.
The booking was easy. Our room was the perfect size for our family. Clean and welcoming! Staff was accommodating. Our TV didn't work for awhile. When we received the keys for room, we didn't get told room # nor directions to get there.
The fact that the rooms were very modern and comfortable, as well as clean.
The architecture and decor are impressive, and the place looks like new. Very, very clean. The mattress was uncomfortably hard, and I lost sleep as a result. Although I've rated the hotel very high in most areas, we may not stay there next time because of the bed.
The staff was very helpful, responsive, and friendly. The location was convenient. The hotel shuttle does not run on weekends! The fumes from the hot tub were noxious. Limited breakfast buffet should be free, instead of ~$10.
Location, Easy Check In, Room space was okay Carpet- The carpet looks old, taken care of, but old. I've stayed at modern hotels and carpet seems to be going away. I appreciate it.
Clean. Great staff. Great price. For the event I was at the location was perfect even though it was located in an industrial section of town. Access to the highway made it a great option.
The room, the highland club, were very nice. The staff (Tamika) was very helpful and accommodating. Funny too. Angie the bartender was also nice. Though free, the breakfast buffet was not organized and food wasn't brought out quickly enough to keep up with the demand. Had to wait for a clean table and silverware.
The room was well appointed Everything except the interior of the room was under construction and they put me in a double when I needed a single king.
Picked it for the proximity to state street because we were going to a concert at the Orpheum. Every employee was really friendly and knowledgable. Very clean. Plus two unexpected but awesome bonuses: free breakfast and free shuttle down to state street!!! I don't think I disliked anything about the entire stay!
Close to the university which was a plus since my son was getting a second look to decide if he'd like to go here in the fall. Liked that they had a shuttle, but we didn't use. Good breakfast. Nice friendly staff. Comfortable rooms. Ran out of some food and especially coffee at the breakfast. We were there at 8:45/9:00. Nothing else since we only used the room to sleep and that was fine.
It was super easy and the staff was really helpful. The rooms were nice and clean.
Friendly staff who all went above and beyond expectations. They truly made our stay comfortable.
Great service! Very helpful staff. Made me feel at home. Would be great for out visitors.
Very nice - updated and staff was great. Recommended a nearby Supper Club and it was superb
weeknights offer socials (2 free drinks per adult/night) and fresh baked cookies - some nice perks! lots of options for breakfast! pool is very clean and the hot tub is kept very warm beds & pillows were VERY comfortable! parking got a little interesting at night time on the weekends, but we made the best of it :)
Quiet location. Close enough in and close to major interstate.
It seemed to be very clean. I didn't like the fact that pets were allowed in any room. That means I won't be back there for a return visit.
great value nothing
Good Location. Getting to be a bit tired. Mildew / mold on bathroom ceiling; staff did not apologize or offer partial refund. Breakfast choices are more limited than in the past. Many dogs walking around -- be sure to review pet policies prior to booking.
The staff was very welcoming and I felt comfortable the whole stay. It's about a 5-10 minute drive from the city center and there's a schlotzky's deli on the way (I would drive the 200 miles again to eat one of their sandwiches!) Really cool fish tank in the lobby :) AND you get a harder pillow and softer pillow to choose from. Overall a very nice experience :)
Brand new 5 month old facility- Arrvied at 130 PM on a Saturday to find 2 staff at the front desk. Asked about early check in as the hotel seemed quite empty. Were told thats not possible, which we understood. no problem. Asked if their shuttle bus sitting outside of the front door partially blocking the entrance was availible to take us downtown, which we were told was out of the way. Again, understand. So being out of towners, we asked if they could call us a cab. They proceeded to look in a drawer and pull out a business card and hand it to us. Seemed like on a Saturday afternoon with an employee and a manager both at the front desk, surely one of them could have gone out of their way for 20 seconds to make a simple phone call for a cab. Instead, we made a long distance phone call from our cell phone.\nMaybe it was the 4 hour drive, but I didnt feel we were greeted and treated in a way that was very customer service friendly.
I have been staying at this particular Holiday Inn once a month for the past year. The hotel staff ranks up there with the best.
We had a great 2-night stay, interrupted only by a terrible restaurant cook on our first night. We were one of only three tables in the restaurant, yet waited over an hour for our food. The front desk person was young and not well versed in dealing with our complaint. Other than that experience, the hotel facilities are very nice. Great location. Great pool. We will stay again . . . and make sure to go to the restaurant before we are famished.
We were in Madison for a football game and had a very nice stay at this Holiday Inn. The room was clean, comfortable, and reasonably priced. The only down side was the bed pillows. They were little squares instead of full pillows, which was a challenge to sleep on. We had a nice breakfast the following morning at the hotel restaurant. The service was good & quick.
The staff at the front desk were very friendly and took care of all my needs.
Hotel was clean, with rounded rod for shower curtain, hair dryer, no smell of smoke, lovely, new furnishings and very comfortable beds. Morning coffee in the lobby was very good.
Very nice and clean. Great room!! Will stay at this Hotel on all my trips to Madison.
everything was very good. Hotel was clean and staff was very friendly.
This hotel met our expectations in every way: clean, comfortable, quiet and in a good location.
Everything about my stay at this hotel exceeded my expectations. From the delightful service from the front desk staff, the pristineness of my room, the cleanliness of the perimeter and interior of this hotel was and is superior. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone.
