9.1 Excellent
Pros: Tasty Ceres bakery muffins for breakfast, ample water and juice, dead simple entry and check out, and lovely accommodations. Thoughtful email highlighted local restaurants.
Cons: As others have said, stairs to second floor are quite steep, treacherous if you’re unsteady. Just be sure to ask for ground floor room if this is any concern.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent boutique hotel in close proximity to Boston with amenities such as heated pool, indoor pool, and dining
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed 2 nights last year and 3 nights this year. Get the rooms that overlook the cliffs. Wonderful ocean roar all night and great patio sitting. The Cliff House facilities are endless and great fun.
Cons: Hot tub, cliff walk, dining, Tommy is your friend at the bar!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location, facilities, staff were amazing!
Cons: There is nothing not to love at this hotel
8.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel, staff, views and rooms were exceptional. Every person we spoke to was friendly. The restaurant offered to bring our meals out to us on a patio and housekeeping prepared the sofa bed for our children without us asking. The front desk keeps s’more kits available which our children loved. Our room included a balcony which looked over the ocean and was incredible to wake up to each morning. Our first night, the kids were through the moon (which meant I was through the moon), laughing, making friends with other kids and going back into the pool over and over with their new friends. They had so much fun we had to pry them out of the pool at the end of the evening. After our first night we had every intention of making this an annual trip. To find a wonderful hotel that our children could also enjoy was perfect. The next morning I went to the spa and enjoyed even more incredible views and relaxation.
Cons: While I was heading to the spa my husband took our two boys (9 and 12) to the pool (same one we enjoyed the first night so much). Whiile he was getting them ready to head in one of the hotel staff came by to inform him that beginning that day, children under 13 were no longer allowed in the resort pool. They were redirected to a family pool behind the resort. If you have seen pictures of the Cliff House and the incredible property you have seen the pools next to the cliffs, surrounded by flowers , next to a bar and restaurant. Bring your children under 13 and this is no longer available to you. While the family pool is nice, it isn’t the reason we booked our trip. It was crowded with many families and children. At the same time the front pool area had less than 10 people in it every time we walked by. Worse, our kids were devastated. They went from having the “best time ever” to feeling completely unwelcome. It certainly wasn’t the way I hoped my family would feel during our vacation. Other families at the pool expressed similar disappointment and several indicated they had called ahead to confirm that the resort pool was available to their children only to be turned away in a similar fashion when they entered the resort pool. The Cliff House currently advertises as welcoming to families and they should make a decision on whether that should continue. Indicating you are welcoming to families and then having a policy to exclude them from the primary portion of the resort is contradictory. I hope the Cliff House reconsiders this policy. Unfortunately until then we will need to look elsewhere for a location that truly welcomes our family.

2.0 Mediocre
Cons: After having booked our trip in early September we arrived to check in on November 2nd to be told they had booked our room with some one else for the weekend. Even though they could see that we had booked the room and they received the confirmation number in September. They neglected to ever enter into their system and booked the room for another customer. We were offered nothing even though we had done everything right on our end and had traveled over 3 hours to spend our 10th anniversary at their establishment. We were simply told sorry and left to find a hotel room somewhere else last minute.

Pros: So close to everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is centrally located within walking distance to every thing. Room was beautiful and clean. The shower felt so good after a long day on the beach in the sun. The beds were comfy but the pillows could be a little harder. The staff was amazing...always pleasant. The free breakfast was far more than we expected and was a great way of starting the day. Love the valet parking. ...very convenient. We will definitely be back next time we are in town. Kathleen Kelley September 2015
Cons: Pillows, not that I hated them...just that they need to be alittle harder....not enough neck support.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Loved how clean it was, the staff was super friendly. We both got a free drink for waiting a little extra for our room, our room was spectacular. Valet staff were great too. The overall stay was awesome!!!
Cons: The bed was a little uncomfortable. But that's the only complaint from us.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Sweetly redecorated to give a nod to old motels, but not old or worn down at all (nicer than the rooms at the Sheraton on the water). Breakfast was wonderful, all staff were very helpful and sweet, and it was easy to come and go from downtown (we chose to drive - it's less than a 5 minute drive).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything about this place! When we drove up I thought we were going into a motel from the 50's, which wasn't a good thing in my opinion - I didn't have fond memories of those rooms. However, when we opened our door we loved the room! It was just like a boutique hotel room - it was really nice. The staff was awesome!
Cons: I probably wouldn't like walking to the office/breakfast room in the cold months, but in May it was perfect.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The manager Steven went well above and beyond the service of any other hotel experience I've had and I travel quite frequently for work. I will certainly be back again. The breakfast is a great bonus!
8.2 Excellent
Pros: They were so good to our dog. We would stay there again
7.4 Good
Pros: We really liked the hotel. It was a convenient location, right off 95 on our way home from Maine. Clean, comfortable, and the staff was very friendly.
Cons: There was only ONE thing that bothered me and had we stayed more than one night would have driven me absolutely crazy: the floor above us. Our room was located on the bottem level of the hotel, room 125. The room directly above us has the creakiest floors which left me wide awake listening to the people above getting ready in the morning. Not a problem if they got up later or I was a deep sleeper, but the floor boards started their symphony at 5:30 am, far too early for my vacation.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Port Inn in Portsmouth, NH is a well kept, clean place to stay. Convenient to the highway and to downtown Portsmouth with a very welcoming and friendly staff.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place was very clean accommodating and for a great price!
Cons: The shower was a bit small and there wasn't a fan to circulate the air conditioning around, but still was cool in the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I love old motels. But usually they’re old inside too. Kittery Inn is lovely! What I want in a nice hotel in a motel setting. Comforters on the bed, nice toiletries, clean vibe. So glad I found this place - we stayed at the beginning and end of our vacation!
Cons: Nothing!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, comfortable room. Adequate amenities, everything worked. Fantastic breakfast! Friendly, helpful staff.
Cons: Wish we could have stayed longer!!
6.8 Good
Pros: The place is so cute. The bathroom was really well-done. It was nice having a little porch to sit on and the rug on the porch was nice and soft.
Cons: The beds were okay. I prefer feather pillows. The TV didn't work very well, the signal seemed to be really weak. The decor of the room was cute in some places but could have been a lot better in other areas. There was a lot of empty white space where there was microwave, that made you feel like you were somewhere very inexpensive. The breakfast was pretty bad - hard boiled eggs that were really hard to peel and plain white english muffins. There was some pound cake that they ran out of and the muffin I had was not very good. Coffee was pretty bad too.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Everything was great!

6.0 Good
Pros: Great location within walking distance! We came as a staycation to go out with friends we haven't seen in a long time!
Cons: We had three different interactions with the staff, and all three were very disappointing. We had drinks with friends (who were also hotel guests) and asked for extra glasses, which came an hour later, and the staff member who dropped them off just had a terrible attitude. It was obvious he was unhappy about it. Came back from dinner and drinks to a very rude third shift member who told us we had a noise complaint and grilled us about who was staying in the room. We hadn't been in the room since 7pm, so I don't know how that was even possible. Then we were given a late checkout till 12:30pm and were getting ready when a very rude house keeper can to the door at 11am and told us we should have left already. We explained and she scowled and stormed off! Needless to say we will not be back.
5.1 Okay
Pros: The hotel was ok Location was ok for the downtown area Being Halloween weekend my husband and I went to dinner and then came back to the hotel for a couple of drinks. The bar tender was nice- and accommodating. Kudos to him.
Cons: The staff upon check in- Male - Was rude. I checked in on my Marriott App which I do whenever I travel and the male at the counter said it doesn't matter. He then proceeded to argue with me. I showed my license and then gave him the same card on file- which BTW Is my Marriott card. No recognition of being a Marriott member. And clearly they did not read my account as I always request a high floor, Extra pillows and towels. I was on 3rd out of 6 floors and no extra pillows or towels. Then once in the room, which was nice- at first. The fridge smelled as old beer, the ice machine did not work. The bathroom has nasty black hair all over the shower, the AC did not work. I did call the front desk and was told someone would be coming up to fix and check room when they arrived. When I returned to the hotel, Hair still in bathroom, AC worked sporadically, a note saying ice maker did not work and to call for ice and a tool bag left behind. I have traveled for years for Business and Pleasure however this Marriott was less then appealing. I will be following up with the Manager of the hotel As well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was great, staff was very nice, the room size was just right for us. Great location to downtown and parking garage since parking is off site. Will definitely choose this hotel again.
Cons: Nothing

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was a getaway for my birthday from my boyfriend, it was so beautiful. It is off season so none of the stores in town were open, but that was ok. It was so peaceful and relaxing. The hotel staff was great! The rooms were very clean. The pub was average. We went during the week so The Grill was not open and there was no breakfast served. Maybe they could at least do a continental breakfast?!
Cons: Not having breakfast served during the week. Maybe just offer danish or muffins.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Lawn across street from hotel had adirondacks and lounge chairs to take in the picturesque view from above rocks overlooking cove, with partial view of ocean. the side yard to hotel property was lovely for outdoor wedding but also surrounded on two sides by the road and another by driveway. Off season this was a quiet and nice location but since road wrapping around property is public access and offers free views I cannot imagine it feeling private in season. i would not want to stay there with young children, the beach is a stones throw away (literally) but too far to watch them from above, and nothing to do for kids at the hotel--and yard also is. It family frienlru imho. However for couples this is a plus! Friendly and helpful staff and charming restaurant are additional positives.

4.2 Okay
Cons: We were given a corner room which we were very happy with as it is usually a more quiet location building wise. Couldn't have been more wrong... Either an HVAC or some type of fan was located in the wall, behind a locked door, at the foot of our bed. It was EXTREMELY noisy. After several hours of trying to sleep, I called the front desk to request a room change. Yes, it was that noisy. No one answered at the desk after two attempts. I got dressed and went down to the lobby. No one could be found ! (It was 1am at that point). We ended up turning the heat down to its lowest setting and although we were freezing, it was somewhat more quiet. Not pleased at all.

6.5 Good
Pros: Convenient location
Cons: Valet could have locked my car to secure my belongings. I was handed my keys and pointed in the direction of my car when I had to retrieve an item. This was when I found it unlocked. Staff was courteous and apologetic. Additionally, we were locked out of our hotel room when returning from breakfast. Had to go back to lobby to have them recode the room key. This was a minor annoyance that went without an explanation.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: I would like to recognize Dimple Patel and Natalia for their exceptional service. Each encounter was so pleasant, welcoming and engaging. I travel often for work and never have I encountered such exceptional service on a consistent basis. Dimple and Natalia are what made my stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Portsmouth Downtown enjoyable, not the hotel amenities nor the look of the hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and modern, friendly staff and accessable to dowtntown
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved how clean everything was. I enjoyed their hot tub. The location was absolutely perfect -- right downtown, with access to practically everything Portsmouth has to offer within walking distance.
Cons: The price to store our vehicle (valet price) was outrageously high. We did use the service, I just didn't realize (or wasn't informed) the price was going to be $28 for a 24 hour period! We drank two bottled waters stored in the room was $6 total for the two.
8.6 Excellent
Pros: Overall nice place
Cons: No bath tub!
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and a great location
Cons: Valet parking was the only option

Cons: Parking stinks
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Loved being close to everything, but by far the staff at the desk, valet, and housekeeping was above and beyond super nice...
Cons: I just wished I could have turned the heat down more than to 65, without turning it off. it was very hot in the room..
2.0 Mediocre
Cons: Unable to stay here because they had no confirmed reservation
5.1 Okay
Pros: The location was fantastic. Walking distance to shops and restaurants.
Cons: Breakfast was not bad but definitely not worth the money. Our room was not clean in several ways, some the staff tried to help with. The room was simply way overpriced which was much worse due to hugh season.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Temporarily parked by entrance (20 minutes) while we got our room and unpacked. Valets were pleasant and professional. Hotel location was excellent and Portsmouth is very walkable.
Cons: At this price, we expected a complimentary breakfast. Expensive valet only parking. We found our own parking nearby for free.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was really nice. They had an awesome shuttle driver with convenient hours to take you downtown which was a short drive.
Cons: The rooms were dark. The wine was expensive. It was loud because they were doing construction during our stay.
3.1 Mediocre
Pros: When the shuttle was on its regular schedule & not ferrying wedding guests who had missed their ride -- it was a nice service to downtown.
Cons: Room smelled like cats, AC was musty & dank. Outrageous price for a room with absolutely no amenities. Are q-tips really too much to ask?
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Pool and hot tub.
Cons: I wish there were more selections on room service menu. Also a couple of lights in room were broken and clock was wrong time.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: The staff and service were both excellent. The free shuttle to downtown Portsmouth makes it a great location.
