6.3 Good
Pros: The location of the property in the middle of a vineyard is pleasant and it was nice to be able to see how the wines were made. The staff at the property tried their best despite the absence of the owner or any empowered manager. The decor of the communal areas was well done.
Cons: When we arrived at the property we were kept waiting on the road for 15 minutes as the reception was not manned. Like other guests we spoke to, we had to climb over the gate and walk half a mile up the road to ask them for the code to let us in. The owner of the property was totally absent and her dog, who was left directly behind the property, barked incessantly all night. As a result we got very little sleep. When we raised this the following day we were told the dog would be moved but the following night was just the same. This greatly detracted from our enjoyment of the property. Whilst the communal areas are nicely done, the small swimming pool is crowded at weekends and meals and relaxation is in close quarters with others. The rooms are comfortable but are essentially smart portacabins which open on to the communal area. This would have been fine had the property not been marketed as a tranquil and secluded retreat and had it been priced accordingly. Overall it was a disappointing stay, compensated to some extent by the efforts of the staff present and a partial refund offered by the owner. We felt that with some small changes (such as a permanently contactable reception and removal of the barking dog) and a slightly more appropriate price-point, this could be a lovely hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautifull location, very quite, nearby my temporary working location. Nice staff. Very spontaneous. There was an error in the bill, but this was solved fast, and to mutual satisfaction. Staff and other guests did their best to speak english, as my wife and I do not speak portuguees.
Cons: Nothing we did not like...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing nature location!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing Experience. It exceded the expectations by far. The Accomodations, the locations, the surroundings and the family story and the wine business/passion. All included made our stay an unforgetable experience. Plus the care, grace and joy shown by D.Gloria and all the staff, made us feel like at home. For sure we will be back with more time to get to know the surroundings, the swimming pool and the rest of the restaurant menu with more detail.

Pros: Everything was amazing.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel charm: a number of corridors, passageways and staircases randomly set, giving access to rooms and indoor facilities. The quietude: although close to the center of town, no significant noise coming in. The swimming pool: intimate, with a nice view over the town center.
Cons: Meals (mostly dinner) not served at property. Parking space on a badly surfaced yard. Breakfast not realy variated (for a stay of 9 days, at least...).
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice old convent, good room with amazing terrace, the staff was very friendly, good wifi and the free bottle of water was a great addition.
Cons: Only a few minor details: thought the main courtyard was a bit cluttered with tables and the breakfast could have a slightly bigger variety (and healthier).
7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was very good. The staff was very friendly. The staff, the place, and the breakfast were great, but the room it should be a 3 star only. But I recommend it anyway.
Cons: The bed was too hard, and the room was cold. The A/C was very loud. It could use some refurnisment, it's showing signs of time. Room more 3 star than 4.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The place had great ambiance. Lots of places to sit outside of the room. The pool area was good with a good view. The room was spacious.
Cons: The chairs in the room could have been a bit more comfortable. There are limited dining options on foot. However, if one is inclined to eat local food there was one restaurant close at hand.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: fabulous breakfast massive choice in a beautiful room.spent a while walking all over the place and recieved a bit of the history of the restoration work, hard to believe the place was a total 13th century ruin.
Cons: sorry but i didnt find anything i disliked.would have liked to have dinner in but we were recomended a good restaurant close by.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: Coffee out of a machine. We hoped for fresh coffee in a four star hotel.p

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cool place
9.6 Excellent
Pros: staff, pool, tranquility
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A beautifully restored building with an interesting history. The staff member who looked after us was very kind and competent. The garden was gorgeous, and we were given a goodbye gift of pomegranates from their trees. The town is like a tiny slice of rural Portuguese history with beautiful views. The residents are obviously very proud of their town--many custom tile panels on corners, and restored artifacts such as wells.
Cons: The town is tiny, with no restaurants at all. This place is a great short stay when on a road trip, but otherwise would be challenging. Small refrigerators in the rooms would be helpful.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, lovely breakfast, great pool, spacious parking, safe.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous building in a lovely quaint rural village. Breakfast was super - all you would require including cakes and plenty of coffee. Staff (Elizabeth) couldn't have been more helpful. Room was fantastic with a modern twist on traditional furniture etc.
Cons: Nothing
Casa Arlindo Correia - Alter do Chão - Bedroom

8.2 Excellent (49 reviews)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location is great and quiet, the staff was amazing and the house has everything you need.
Cons: The bed was too hard for us and, although it is a country house, it could be a bit more clean.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location was wonderful - in the midst of rolling, undulating agricultural and farm land - completely different to the region of Portugal that we travelled from. Whilst remote from large towns, the property was close enough to neighbouring villages to make eating out and shopping very straightforward.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The house is perfect for children, full of entertainment and different places that kids love to explore. Also great for a big group of friends that really enjoys good conversations while appreciating delicious meals (kitchen and braai facilities are great). It was our second time in monte da boavista and we will definitely come back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the hospitality was beyond all expectations. especially because we could use the kitchen and bbq. but true ! we were 2 days all by ourselves( no other guests)
Cons: did not like that new guests took their dog
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The lady that welcomed me and my family was amazing and always helpful! The place so peaceful and beautiful! My kids loved to play in the pool!
