Pros: Bed was nice and comfortable. Hotel was only a few doors away from a launderette, 15 min walk to town, church with active bell tower behind property.
Cons: Only thing i did not like was that i heard the bell practice in the church tower behind the property and immediately wanted to go join them as i,m a ringer, but sadly could not get into the church as it was locked at all entry points. Never mind, went back to my room and listened to the bells. Wish i could have joined them to ring with them.

Pros: There is nothing not to like. Top quality accommodation provided by friendly pub owners serving excellent home cooked food from within either a restaurant area or as I had my evening meal within the bar. Pros: A delightful pub in rural Devon. Our room was large, bed huge and very comfortable, and new modern tiled bathroom a pleasure to use. Big fluffy towels, fresh each day. The breakfast was enormous and delicious. We seemed to be the only guests staying there, but Dave and Ali put out the full complement of food voices every morning. In the evenings we at at the pub, selecting from a large menu. Everything we had was delicious and reasonable and it was so nice after driving all day to eat and drink and sleep at the same place. No need to drive at night.
Cons: It was a bit of extra driving to stay at black dog rather than in a town, but worth it. We went on day trips each day in a different direction, so that aspect of location was great.

Cons: Lack of change in breakfast variety
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was tasty and hot. Bedroom curtains shut out the light then the courtesy light in the hallway was too bright. The beds were a tad hard for me. A bell to press on the Reception desk might help draw attention to the fact that guests were waiting.
Cons: waiting to be attended at the desk, as above.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was brilliant, one of the best hotel rooms I’ve ever stayed in, the facilities were super easy to use and super clean, the staff were really friendly, the hotel itself was beautiful from the inside too.
Cons: The location of the hotel wasn’t in the most beautiful place, but since the Central of Exeter was literally just a 10 min walk from the hotel I’m not going to complain any further, at the end of the day it’s a small niggle. The breakfast was ok but it could’ve been better.

Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent all round xx was able to chat to the owner and was made to feel totally comfortable and all questions I had were answered xx I can totally recommend xx
5.8 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was brilliant, a large continental and full English Breakfast, for which I could not have asked more. Usually staying in hotels, this Guest House was what I might have expected but was not something I would do unless there was no alternative....there's too much risk. Cleanliness lacked detail (cobwebs in small corners), the facilities felt cramped, the mattress was lumpy (although the sheets were perfectly clean) and the bathroom lacked surfaces on which to put my bathroom bag and "cleaning stuff" (the bathroom and shower were perfectly clean and functional). I guess I just prefer 4-5 star hotels.
Cons: See previous comments, but as a Guest House, it's fair enough. When you stay by the seaside on a busy weekend and it's all you can get, this is obviously one of the best choices in Exeter.
10.0 Excellent

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Beautiful location, fabulous room, warm attentive and effective staff.

Cons: Lighting level low in our room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast, delicious coffee
9.2 Excellent

Cons: Not applicable
7.5 Good
Pros: Location was great . Breakfast was excellent . Public rooms were excellent. Staff were excellent . Bar menu was good value but the wine list a little costly but not impossible.
Cons: We did not like the room..... WILBERFORCE. When we made the reservation we understood it was going to somewhat a budget accommodation but we did not imagine it would so small with what we can only describe as unpleasant shower and toilet arrangements. These were very clean but so small. I am a large man who found it difficult to shower in so restricted space although I must say the water pressure and water temperature were excellent......not found in many hotels. The distance between the foot of the bed and the wall holding the T.V. was minimal making it very difficult NOT to knock ones ankles on the outstanding frame of the bed when crossing the room. The bed was very comfortable. The window has a broken pane. Tony Crowe

Cons: Car parking wasn't on site but only a minor issue. Would have preferred a separate room to eat breakfast.
6.3 Good
Pros: All was overshadowed. by the way the owner. dealt with me at breakfast.
Cons: The owner made me feel so uncomfortable and unwelcome at breakfast, due to his own staff's error, that I left without breakfast. Should have apologised for the error, but instead was clearly irritated by me being too early for breakfast. Was travelling alone and with no one to talk to in what was clearly the owners domain, it was an unpleasant situation.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely pub, very nice landlord and staff. Excellent food and beer. Very good breakfast freshly cooked. Ideal stop off from M5.
Cons: Very nice staff and very good food - but rather slow in the evening when we were very hungry. The room was great for one night but there was very little hanging space. The bathroom was very small.
6.3 Good
Pros: When we arrived the staff were very helpful and showed us to our rooms and explained things very well. Our very small room had been recently decorated and was ok but in our view overpriced. We liked the village very much and it’s surroundings.
Cons: Breakfast didn’t appear to run smoothly. We had to wait for well over half an hour for our cooked breakfast The croissants were taken away before the full English breakfast was served. It would have been nice to have a bowl of chopped fresh fruit, prunes or even grapefruit. Only three cereals to choose from. When the full English arrived we were not warned of the very hot plates.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Wouldn't change anything.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is served in a very pleasant room and the choice on offer was both varied and of a high quality.
Cons: The Swimming Pool Area is a bit dated.

10.0 Excellent

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and lodges fantastic - food and service wonderful.
Cons: Gym equipment great but could be a little bigger room - it feels a little crowded with 5+
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The ambiance was wonderful the facilities were just right
Cons: I was shocked to have paid £40 for 1 poached egg on toast and 2 poached eggs with 2 rashers of bacon especially when the eggs were well over cooked
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location and beautiful grounds.
Cons: The view from our room was obscured by the outside of the building and the window was very small. We would have preferred to be a floor below. The cooked breakfast was disappointing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Almost everything
Cons: The brasserie restaurant food
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ambience is peaceful, tranquil and utterly beautiful
Cons: In Smiths restaurant we waited 40 minutes for main course, despite others who came in after us, being served before us, and without the green vegetables. For breakfast similar.... it took 35 minutes for one English breakfast of bacon and eggs. Also despite others being served well before us.
6.0 Good
Pros: Beautiful hotel and surroundings in lovely order and lovingly kept gardens give a great first impression. The hotel has two restaurants with a good menu selection, food in the cafe when we finally got a table there was good, though not outstanding. Our room was small and quite dark but clean and well decorated and our bathroom was OK but no bath and in all it's not as sumptuous as one might expect for this price. The shower was a good one, the sink however ran only hot water. Comfy bed and quiet as we couldn't still hear the dog barking in the next door room once we were inside our room. Good pool and decent changing rooms, the hotel shop was closed when we were there which was a pity because it had some lovely looking clothes there.
Cons: The service was very slow, and casual at best. The hotel restaurants were fully booked even though the hotel was not busy. Be warned - as there is nowhere else to eat for miles around. The breakfast buffet was expensive £20 extra each but OK when we got to it. Reception slow and the girl was on her own and harassed. Resented the 12.5% service charge added on the final bill (for accommodation as well as the food and drink). I don't mind tipping when the service is good, but it wasn't. The service just didn't feel even close to a 5 star hotel - we were not made to feel special in any way.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely, central hotel. Staff fantastic.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great little hotel. I stayed at a room facing the garden, so very little noise. Great location and there is a great parking nearby.
Cons: For what they offer is a bit pricy. Over 100 pounds a night for a hotel with limited facilities seems on the high level.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Room facilities. Great coffee and Sky telly with sports.
Cons: Lack of parking
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Value for money is tricky. Over £200 for 2 nights and no breakfast seems not the best but normal nowadays. No lifts no parking and no cocktail menu are regrettable downsides to very good pub/hotel that we enjoyed staying at. Staff were very good and helpful. A good base for exploring Exeter and area. Watch out for the hills though.
Cons: All said above.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff at reception and in the adjoining pub were friendly. The room was comfortable and clean with some great little touches such as a complementary small decanter of port. The bathroom had excellent fixtures. The bed was comfortable. The location is right downtown, just a short walk to the Cathedral, restaurants and shopping.
Cons: The hotel is on a charming narrow street, which can be a little challenging for a tourist driver to drive up to. By driving 100 yards through an intersection, however, you can solve this by going into one of two parking garages. I know that’s not much of a criticism, but I felt the need to put something in the criticism box.

Pros: Very close to the center of the town, but provided with a private car park (even if not too large), it is possible to reach the center of the town with a 10 minutes walk.
Cons: The bacon smell spread all over the hotel in the morning

Pros: great location good breakfast
7.0 Good
Pros: The staff
Cons: Maybe a single bed with a desk/wardrobe rather than 2 single beds without one would have been better for a 2 night stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I booked my room on extremely short notice and didn't arrive till around 2000 however the welcome and reception I received where top notch. They even advised me where I could get something nice to eat. The room was really nice for the price extremely clean and modern with enough amenities. I had a shared bathroom which didn't bother me but ensuites are available. The bed was very comfy not too hard and but too soft and the pillows spot on. My stay came with breakfast included, there's a buffet style cold breakfast of yogurts cereal etc and cooked breakfast of your choice. I had poached eggs on toast with mushrooms and they were perfect, I'm not just saying that Delia herself would have a run for her money. All in all a wonderful overnight stay and bang in the city centre too
Cons: There was nothing I didn't like to be honest, if I had to choose one thing, and this is being really picky now is that the TV didn't have that many channel's although this isn't really the hotels fault is more to do with Freeview v reception
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, spotlessly clean, really comfy bed, great breakfast, Owner warm n friendly. Everything just perfect.
Cons: Nothing !!
7.5 Good
Pros: The location within Exeter was great, only 10-15 minutes walk to the city centre. The room was small, but tidy. The bed was comfortable! We didn't have breakfast in the BnB so we don't know what that was like.
Cons: The parking lot is very small, and someone had parked his car in 1.5 space so it was quite a job to park our car.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lorraine was very friendly and helpful, recommending restaurants and local areas. Very pleasant stay
