10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spectacular view, very clean and comfortable. Very welcoming hosts
7.1 Good
Pros: The property is a short steep ride from the main highway north of Grenoble in a peaceful hillside village. There was a kitchen and spacious bath and a cheery hostess who showed us our room.
Cons: Given other reviews, I expected to find a spectacular place at a great price because it was off the beaten path. It was simply a place to rest our heads that felt a bit well-worn. If I returned to the area, I'd book a place north of Albertville and spend a bit more to have a less rustic experience.
9.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Daniel was such a warm and generous host, he made us very welcome from the moment we arrived. Our evening meal was absolutely delicious... all wonderful local produce, and we had some very enjoyable conversation over dinner, a great experience all round. Wonderful mountain scenery as well.
Cons: Nothing, it was all great
7.5 Good
Cons: We had been visiting friends in Herbeys and on leaving them found the auberge quite difficult to locate. Perhaps a note for future travellers indicating that it is at the end of a very long and twisting mountainous road would be helpful
8.0 Excellent
Pros: This was the perfect one-night stop-over for us on our way up to Chamonix! The property is conveniently located a half hour drive from Grenoble. The house is nestled high up in the mountains and the views are absolutely breath-taking. We loved being able to star-gaze at night and then wake up to a beautiful sunset over the mountains. Our hosts were very friendly and welcomed us graciously to their home.

Pros: This is my second stay at this place. We were very satisfied with our stay, everything was very clean, kitchen is very well equipped. A coffee machine to start our day, an oven to prepare a nice dinner. For our baby they provided us with a baby cot, a stroller, and baby chair. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The view outside is wonderful, it is the best place for someone who loves the nature.
Cons: Nothing was missing

Pros: The good place to spend with family. The appartment is rather in mountains, for the food you need to plan in advance. There is nice pizceria 5 min drive further to mountain vilages. And as suggested by owners in 10-15 min walking distance you can get it to even more better panoramic view

Chalet la Colombière - Sainte-Agnès - Building

9.3 Excellent (136 reviews)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The owners are very lovely, kind and openhearted. The breakfast was delicious and copious. Parking places are directly in front of the building. The B&B has a magnifique view with a swimming pool, accessible day and night.
Cons: According to my taste the rooms and the building are a bit over-decorated (i.e. there were more than 5 teddy bears in my room and additional decoration in each corner.)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful view and nice pool!

8.3 Excellent

Cons: A little hard to find and there is nothing in the area .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Owners, location & facilities
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: With a location and view like this you can't go wrong. The Belledonne chain glances at you from every spot. The view is perfect. Overall B&B only superlatives count, the room, the swimming pool, general atmosphere are great. The hosts are very friendly and know the region very well.
Cons: If there is one thing I have to criticize it's breakfast, the bread is not fresh. Me as a Belgian have a high standard in this. All in all its a typical French breakfast. The great coffee and local homemade sweets make up for the rest.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely wonderful accomodation. Hosts were incredible and could not do enough for you. Arrived late on a Sunday evening and the rearest restuarant was back in the valley. The host invited me to join them for dinner. Wonderful home cooked food and great company. Need I say more. Looking forward to revisiting in July.
Cons: Nothing negitive to say

7.9 Good
Pros: It was very warm, homely and welcoming. The hotel is run by a family of 6 and a dog which are lovely. They are very easygoing and they really let you be a part of their home and daily life. The breakfast was good and the room was great and the hotel as a whole had a lot of character and style.
Cons: Due to the hotel being far away from the local amenities I feel they would benefit from things such as a kettle/vending machine/minibar/fridge in the room or living room so you can self-cater. Also it would be handy to have the option to have the confirmation email sent to you in english, as because of this we did not know to book the hottub 24hrs in advance. All and all it was a great stay and would definitely go again and recommend.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Jerome welcomed us into his lovely home and served a delicious evening meal and a fantastic breakfast. After dinner we felt at home sitting in the comfortable lounge area. A very relaxing place to stay.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Really friendly owners!! We had a nice discussion in English, about the area and other things! Room was tiny, comfortable, with the BEST bed, I really slept well. Breakfast was nice and hiking routes start from the back yard.
7.9 Good
Pros: Nice, cozy room was exactly like on photo. Free of charge parking on the opposite side of the road. The picturesque hiking route starts right from the entrance of the hotel.
Cons: There was no hairdryer in the room. Breakfast was tasty, but quite modest: baguettes, croissants, jam, juice, tea/coffee + yoghurt though by the second breakfast they ran out of it. For some reason we were refused to have a dinner at the hotel even though we asked for it in advance.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: This hotel offers excellent value for money. We got a very nice room at the corner of the building with two windows with mountain view. Located at the edge of the village. Outstanding location as a starting point for hikes in the Chartreuse mountains. Cons: None
5.4 Okay
Pros: The environs for kilometers are simply breath-taking, yet breakfast was just OK. Croissant and bread were either homemade or local-- perhaps a little over-cooked for our liking. Proprietor was fine, but he never introduced himself (nor asked our names) and we had to call his mobile phone as we arrived about 15 minutes prior to 5pm, and we had told him between 5 and 6pm; his response to us over the phone and in person was a curt "You're early!" We waited 30-minutes for his arrival, in a messy patio area, which we worried might be for guests-- thankfully it was not. Bedrooms and bathrooms were overall very clean. WIFI is appreciated!
Cons: In terms of breakfast negatives, the coffee wasn't great, all the toppings offered were store-bought and when opening a pot of confiture, I found mold all over the top...not appetizing! Bedroom was very hot at night with only a door to a shared patio that could be opened, not allowing for any cross-breeze or privacy and the bed itself was very, very firm. Some other guests mentioned they slept outside instead...I will admit, I considered it myself. Bathroom linens smelled somewhat odd-- perhaps like they hadn't been dried enough before folding. The outside gardens were quite un-kept and the property itself was hard to find. A tiny sign was down on the road coming from the Museum of Grand Chartreuse, but none in the other direction. The very narrow road leading up to the inn was very steep and the only sign visible from the road was for private parking...the actual name Val'Ombre was hidden by overgrown grass. We literally pulled out our reservation confirmation to compare each house along the road to see if it matched the properties in front of us until we found it, then realized the parking sign had Val'Ombre written across the bottom among the brush. Overall, it seems that the property has much potential, but attention to detail perhaps has wained over the years as most reviews from 3-8 years ago were incredibly positive.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Amazing view friendly host
Cons: A little difficult to find
