Pros: The castle is just picture perfect, you feel you’re back in the 16th century. It is beautifully restored and such a joy to stay in. Sharon and Jacques are just the best hosts, they made us feel welcome and had great advice on the area. Very happy to recommend this unique place.
Pros: Everything. Especially the hosts.
Pros: We were fascinated with the history and restoration of the Chateau. Jacque and Sharon have poured their heart into it (as well as I’m sure a lot of money). It is beautifully and authentically restored. We loved our room overlooking the garden. Breakfast was very good and we enjoyed their hospitality. Their is no restaurant at the Chateau, but the village is an easy stroll and we had delicious meals there. We stayed three nights and it allowed us enough time to explore the area.
Pros: Everything was perfect
Pros: The hosts were extremely welcoming and friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the chateau. A very unique opportunity - would highly recommend.
Pros: The chateau is impressively renovated by Sharon and Jacques. The chateau is renovated in the ancient style as it should be, with a keen eye for the details. The more you see, the more respect you will get for Sharon an Jacques, who did a tremendeous job. They are, btw, very friendly and helpful in giving an overview of the must-sees in the neighborhood.
Cons: There were no 'didn't likes'. It was just perfect.
Pros: Love the history connected to the chateau. The owners shared all their experiences re the renovation which was so interesting. The rooms are very opulent. Was my dream to stay in a chateau and this one did not disappoint
Pros: Extraordinary: history, comfort, location and service combined! An amazing stay in this beautiful castle. The host is the owner and catered to us wonderfully, figuring out the perfect room for us and calling us personally to propose booking a restaurant as we were arriving late. The room in the tower was amazing. Truly remarkable stay overlooking alps and lake.
Pros: An amazing castle, I look at the pictures of where we stayed and it seems surreal to me now. No need to go and pay to see a museum when you can live in one! The family took upon itself a very brave project to make it as beautiful and high standard as it is today - as a guest you are lucky to enjoy their effort and vision. The breakfast is rich and very tasty and they offer you drinks upon arrival. Lovely gardens to explore, amazing view and lots of activities nearby. Parking right up the entrance to the castle. And there's even an elevator!
Located in Crots, Hôtel Les Bartavelles is within a 15-minute drive of Ecrins National Park and Lac de Serre-Poncon. Free self parking is available onsite.
Cons: The cleanliness of the place in general is something to be desired. Silly things like hairs in the bathroom. Dirty knives and forks in the breakfast room. Could be a little bit more clean.
Pros: Lovely big room and quiet location with nice view to the mountians.
Cons: The air con didn’t work very well, meals were a little pricey.
Cons: Family rooms in separate buildings, without air-conditioning, no electrical outlets in secondary room upstairs, noisy, renovated a long time ago in DIY style. Staff thinks they are running a Michelin star place, where it can hardly live up to being a family hotel. Not worth the prices charged. A deception.
Pros: The rooms and the swimming pool
Cons: Nice stay for 3 night. Everything was perfect.
Pros: Not much
Cons: Beside very busy road car essential for all trips.
Pros: Convenient location alongside the main road.
Cons: Not too much to say for only one night stay. Evening meal was Ok without saying more. The "magret de canard" was not up to standard.
