We have been before (the previous year) so we knew what to expect. Luxurious gardens next to a beautiful river and with the wonderful hills and rock tombs as a backdrop. Really love the location and relaxation but youngsters may find the 10 min walk to the town a bit of a pain if they want some life each night. Extremely quiet at night and very relaxed eating by the pool. We would even go again but maybe will leave it a year or two before we do (never say never though).
The information as to what you get on booking.com is very much cut and paste. You will really need to speak to the hotel directly to get exactly the room you want. We arrived and found that our requests (rooms together and pool side view) had been ignored as apparently we had not chosen the right option rooms. The staff tried to help but they said that what we wanted was part of the other half of the hotel (the Spa resort) and was fully booked. Strange as we thought we had booked the same as last year (we got pool side rooms then in the Spa part of the hotel) and the hotel was half empty most of the time (we choose to go in September exactly for this reason and the temperature is wonderful at this time).
The pool was excellent - lovely & clean. Ali the pool guy was so helpful and friendly - a real asset to the hotel. There was a choice of two pools with one slightly smaller adults only pool which is a nice idea. Some of the staff were great but others appeared untrained & disorganised - the impression we got (which may not be correct) was that the hotel may have been recently taken over by a new team - if so then this should settle down. Our suite was very nice in size. Late checkout was available at a reasonable rate which was a godsend for a late flight home. Position of hotel very good if you like to be a little out of town.
Have stayed at this hotel before a few years ago & the previously lovely gardens are now looking quite shabby by comparison. They need a really good going over to restore them to their former glory. WiFi was absolutely terrible. You had to log on with a passport no, it constantly cut out & required you to re-input passwords. When connected it was very slow & simple things like accessing BBC news website were almost impossible. I wasn’t even able to access the hotel’s own website to look at the Spa Treatment list!! This is nothing to do with Turkish Telecoms - during the first part of our trip we stayed at the small family-run Sultan Palas Hotel in a remote location 3 km from Dalyan and the WiFi was first rate. Food was not as good as before - not much variety & very little fruit apart from melon at breakfast & dinner. No tea & coffee making in room (this WAS available when we stayed before). Did not like the hotel adding our room rates to the extras bill despite me having paid in advance. Luckily I had a printed copy of the booking.com confirmation of pre payment with me. It was then removed from the bill but there was no apology. Didn’t think that the owners dogs walking about the place & drinking out of the pool was acceptable. On last day music was playing around an otherwise peaceful pool area. There’s no need for this as most people have access to their personal music through headphones. Enforced music would put me off returning.
We loved the location, next to the river, the calm neighborhood and the architecture as well as design. The breakfast was rich and tasty (although juices have to be paid separately), as well as dinner (which we only tried once)
The first shocking announcement at the reception was that we are not allowed to bring drinks from outside the hotel. That makes sense for a bar, or restaurant, not a hotel room but even then, there is a corkage fee so one can drink any preferred beverage. The second astounding rule was to receive one key only, even if you are a couple. Because of that, we had to knock at the door and wake each other up if one of us was taking a nap. The air conditioning device switches off every time the clients are out of the room, so the result is feeling hot and uncomfortable every time you return. The fact that the hotel is... careful with the expenses was first noticed by the fact the mosquito net was torn in a few places... it would only cost 20 euro to fix!!! The place gives the feeling of a retirement home: breakfast from 8 to 10 only, then nothing. Dinner is from 20:00 to 22:00! We wanted to book half board but could not (and only had breakfast) just because we like to eat late and enjoy music and a drink. So, we had excellent dinners in town, but for that you need a taxi or car, as the walk to the city center is long. The one time we had dinner (buffet): the dishes were good, tasty, varied, but it was fun looking at the staff when they served, and we had asked for more! They were frightened, as they had to only offer a spoon, not fill the plate! The other bad thing is that having dinner buffet only, you cannot order the plates you would like, as the choice is set … and that is it! The last thing we need to mention is the pool! In fact there are two beautiful swimming pools, big and clean. The problem is that the management allows clients to reserve sunbeds by putting a towel or a book on them. As a result you have no chance of laying down, even if a few beds are never used. Any hotel would collect all towels and books and consider them lost and found, as this attitude is insulting to the fellow travelers.
The hotel garden is well designed. The hotel is near the riverside. There is a little boat twice in a week which you can go to seaside. We met with the owner of the hotel. They are kind and helpful.
The hotel manager was very rude. Also the waiters are unnecesarily informal. My room was booked for a river wiev room. But they gave me a room which sees kitchen and with the kitchen smell. When I arrived hotel it was 9 pm in the evening and the hotel manager said " you can leave the hotel if you want. And I can go nearby the river and take a photo and show booking.com that I took the photo from the room. You cannot prove it. So, It is your choise". He was very unpolite but I stayed there for 2 nights. Because it was late and I couldnt find a hotel at that time. Later, booking.com send me an e mail if I stayed at the hotel or not ? because the hotel told them I didnt stayed there. I think they tried to prevent my comments on booking.com. Anyway, I proved it so ı can write comments now. Also the breakfast was bad. Very poor buffet. The fruit juiced were extra in the breakfast. ( I never see such a thing anywhere else) The other problem is, sometimes you cannot find a table at the breakfast. And the waiters never help. They say, " what can we do? &Quot;.
Professional staff, very well run. wonderful food especially including dinners. excellent location and well kept grounds.
noise generated by children. Units may need little updating to be perfect.
