Pros: Beautiful location and wonderful views over Dartmouth and the River Dart. Our host Brendan was very hospitable and we had a good chat with a pot of tea on our arrival.
Cons: Visitors need to be aware that the parking can be a little tricky. We were fortunate to find on street parking close by but it could be harder when the summer season is in full flow. There are a couple of spaces in the drive but not that easy to park there.

Pros: Location superb for views; ambience, decor and comfort and cleanliness excellent. Hosts solicitous and always helpful and a provided very good breakfast with a twist. They gave good advice on local activities and restaurants and were altogether very engaging. Altogether a great short break venue.
Cons: Narrow approach roads, not for the faint hearted especially after a long drive! Need to follow the hosts map guide to the house with the advice on parking to the letter. I failed and had to ask for parking assistance from the hosts which was very willingly given. But don't be put off, Compass Rose is worth it.

Cons: If we had had the time to stay longer, but we had to get home!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The whole place was restored and renovated to a very high standard. Room had a superb large bathroom and the room was a good size and very comfortable. The Breakfast was excellent, even though I was nor aware that it was continental. I like it more than the standard full English one. The chance to eat breakfast on the terrace with a superb view was really nice when the weather is suitable.
Cons: Could do with improving wifi access for bedrooms. I had to sit in the lounge to get a connection. The location is a bit far out from the centre of Dartmouth and there is a tough climb back if walking that some may find hard, although, Personally we did not find it that bad and only used a taxi once - cost £4

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The people John and Barbara were really nice and the room was great
Cons: There wasn't any thing not to like
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Stayed there for just 2 nights. The room and beds were very comfortable and clean. There was fresh milk in the little fridge in your room and also 2 bottles of water each day. The breakfast was lovely and and varied and the hosts made you feel very welcome. A massive bonus was a car parking space at the rear of the guest house for free as there is just no parking anywhere...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Barbara and John are a lovely friendly couple. Felt like one of the family by the end of the week. Breakfast was delicious.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: As above. John and Barbara are excellent hosts and made us feel right at home. We were very sad to leave as Dartmouth is such a wonderful place. Very peaceful stay. Barbara is the Queen of breakfast. The scrambled egg and smoked salmon was sublime. My full English was amazing.
Cons: Nothing. Everything was excellent. Location accommodation hosts. Food. All top flight
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It doesn‘t happen very often that hosts really make you feel like home, but Barbara & John definetely did it. Thanks to their thoughtful, lovely, honest & humorous ways we enjoyed every second in their cosy place. The city is beautiful & there are wonderful walking trails nearby. We highly recommend this place!

Townstal Farmhouse - Dartmouth - Building
6
9.1 Excellent (301 reviews)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We received a warm welcome from the owners upon arrival. The B&B is in a good location, only 15 minutes' walk from the centre of Dartmouth - a lovely walk downhill on the way there, but a steep climb on the way back! The rooms were spotlessly clean. I was given almond milk to cater for my dairy-free needs, and a communal fridge was provided to keep fresh milk.
Cons: Somewhat basic and dated decor and facilities in the rooms, nothing fancy. No vegetarian option for the cooked breakfast (I was advised to just have the fried tomato and mushrooms when I asked), but plenty of other options available. The decaf coffee wasn't great and I was advised that the cooked breakfast ingredients were a bit cheap 'n cheerful (definitely not local or free range!).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was out of town and therefore we were not woken by herring gulls,or late night revellers. The bus service into Dartmouth was nearby and frequent, thus we were able to forget the car. The breakfast was perfect for us, as we like a cooked breakfast. The staff were very friendly at all times and we intend to return with our dog for two or three nights in the near future
Cons: my husband struggled with the stairs, but that was due to his worsening Parkinson's. A dog friendly room would be on the ground floor.
9.5 Excellent

Pros: Good comfortable bed and room. It was lovely to have a bath.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, warm and friendly owner, comfortable room and really tasty breakfast. Perfect for our short stay in Dartmouth.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Such lovely friendly people. Everything was considered from breakfast to location and directions to town to Wi-Fi availability. Really quaint 16th century farmhouse, in a lovely village.
Cons: Only that staying on a Sunday night public transport including taxis, don't exist after around 6pm, which was unexpected. Its not an issue if you're in the quay or town, but walking uphill on very steep dark country roam was a little bit daunting at night. But the locals were very friendly and showed the way and assured it was very safe. Only seemed daunting due to the unfamiliarity of the route. That's all really. Day time it's picturerque and downhill . And there's buses both ways if you don't fancy walking. Lovely place though and not a negative regarding hospitality or stay at all. Thank you so much
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Cosy and friendly

The hotel supplies a free parking voucher that can be used at several other car parks in the area as well s in Dartmouth.
Cons: The pub opposite can be a bit noisy. The parking is limited outside the hotel, however the main car park is close by, it can be difficult to find a parking space during the day.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming staff, great breakfast and very relaxing. Just what we wanted!
Cons: The heat, but nothing could be done about it a sit was a very hot night!
7.5 Good
Pros: Room was comfortable and everything was in the right place. Plenty of accessible power sockets and somewhere to sit. Plenty of space for clothes, luggage etc.
Cons: Breakfast service was a little slow but they run on low team numbers so to be expected. The advice is to relax and I guess that's fair enough. Was a little taken aback that a kitchen that cooks eggs couldn't do an omelette due to not having the right pan. Would have thought this is soon remedied. Maybe I should travel with my own pan to loan out in these circumstances
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant area nice and central. Lovely room spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Lovely breakfast.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast not available. location difficult for leaving luggage, but the owner was helpful.
Cons: Breakfast to be supplied, even a simple meal of cereals and hot drink. Parking up at park and ride took a round trip of 30 minutes. It would have been helpful to know that you could renew the tickets by telephone - we only found this out at the end of our stay! Consequently we had to return to the park and ride every morning to renew our ticket. the view from the two bedrooms was not as it is shown in the internet site.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room with a nice outlook rather than a ‘view’ as such. Big bathroom with an excellent shower, luxury bed linen, tea and coffee making...No breakfast available at the house, but plenty of good options nearby. It’s little way from the centre and you’ll need to walk your bags up unless your car is small. The road is narrow!

Pros: We absolutely loved everything about this place. The quirkiness of it was amazing. The place and staff were both outstanding. I have booked to come again with my other half this time!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Unique beautiful location. Charming friendly staff. Comfortable beds and delicious breakfast
5.0 Okay
Pros: Liked location ,room was okay .
Cons: The bathroom needed some attention in our four poster room, ,tired looking as did much of the outside woodwork , lack of varnish etc ,it was shabby not shabby sheek. Also dogs are allowed to run amok, both the owners and visitors which results in dog poo left on the garden since visitior's may be having breakfast whilst their dogs run around unsupervised outside. By the way I like dogs. Visited this B&B in the past not quite at the same standard

Cons: There is a pub on the ground floor and it was very noisy till midnight
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were a little apprehensive as some of the reviews were not good but this could not have been further from the truth. We were greeted by Chris and Claire the new owners who along with the bar man could not do enough for us throughout our stay. The Rooms were spotlessly clean and beds really comfy . The breakfast was great also the bar meals which we had on both evenings of our stay. There was a live band on Friday evening and music on Saturday which both finished by 11.15pm.We would defiantly stay again and wish Chris and Claire good luck for the future.
Cons: There was nothing to dislike.

Pros: The best view ever- excellent position for Dartmouth on the Riverside. The bathroom facilities were excellent, staff were very helpful. We would definitely return and have recommended to friends already. We ate in the Bar one evening and the restaraunt the second evening- each time the food was excellent and was good value for money. The best Chicken Ceasar salad I have ever eaten.
Cons: The room is large enough to have a larger bed- we found the standard double a bit too cosy- so a King size bed would have been better.

Pros: Fantastic location and view across the river from our very comfortable room which has been recently refurbished. Very well furnished and lovely bathroom with a huge shower. This is really a pub more than a hotel but we were very happy with everything and ate a really delicious meal there in the evening. Would stay again.
Cons: Stairwell is very tight and a little stuffy but goes with the style of premises. Could be difficult for a disabled person.

Pros: The view from the room was amazing - staff were very friendly - room was so clean and food excellent - had the weather been lovely and we hadn’t taken full advantage of the room, it was quite expensive as only cereal in the room for breakfast - but 10/10 from our experience

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Kaywana Hall is not just a boutique B&B, it's an experience. The room was comfortable, luxurious and chic extending outside to private decking with chairs, table and parasol. Relaxing in such beautiful, well-furnished and tranquil surroundings is recommended. Breakfast was perfect; plenty of choice with quality, fresh, local ingredients. We particularly enjoyed the freshly squeezed orange juice, homemade granola and crispy sourdough toast; from full English to eggs and smoked salmon, it set us up for the day. It was cooked to order and served by the hosts along with friendly conversation; very welcoming people generously sharing their 'ubercool' space. There were individual and thoughtful touches throughout our stay that contributed to the quality of this booking.

Pros: The breakfasts were superb. They were made from very good quality produce and cooked perfectly with a variety to choose from.

Pros: This is much more than a B&B, this is the little luxury escape you deserve. Kaywana is so peaceful, but yet so close to Devon’s Kingswear and Dartmouth. It all starts with the secluded driveway through the trees winding up to the Butterfly House. Every detail is taken care of. You feel so at peace with nature, with full height windows that bring the forest into the room. Little extras like the hand made fudge in your room, luxury toiletries, blue tooth sound system and a small library in the room. Gordon couldn't have been more helpful, from meeting us at the driveway to get our bags, to running around after us at Breakfast. The breakfast was so personal; just a few guests to enjoy locally sourced organic produce that was carefully crafted in their kitchen. The rooms all face different parts of the forest, giving full privacy. We only saw the other guests at breakfast. Our room was spacious, allowing separation of the sleeping area from the living area, with separate shower and a deep bath to soak in. We had a great nights sleep in clean luxurious sheets in such a comfortable bed. Our only regret is we didn't stay longer. We travelled from Perth Australia and plan on coming back in the near future. Thank you Gordon & Tony for a wonderful break.
Cons: Nothing to dislike, except we didn't stay long enough.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was private with its own decking area. Very quiet so good for relaxing. Nespresso machine with choice of decaffeinated pods as well as normal varieties. Everything you could need was in room including delicious fudge, shortbread biscuits and sweets which were replenished daily. Bathroom facilities were excellent with lovely toiletries. Breakfast was cooked freshly and served by the owners in their beautiful home.
Cons: Can't think of anything that needed improvement.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic Hosts, couldn't have done more. Linen and comfort of the bed was better than any 5* hotel we've stayed in. The product in both mini bar and bathroom were again better than most luxury hotels.

Cons: N/A
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was in a great position,a minute from the harbour, and central to the bars restaurants and shops. We'd reserved a parking space and phoned when we were nearby for it's location. The phone was answered immediately by a very cheery girl who told us to come to the hotel for instructions. She came out to the car and offered to take our luggage upstairs to our room while we parked nearby. She was so welcoming that I was surprised how busy she was serving customers as well. The bar is lovely;small and cosy, and very busy serving meals. It also had a restaurant upstairs. All the staff were really friendly, especially Leah and Abbie. Our room was comfortable, and the bathroom had an excellent shower with an overhead as well as the usual shower head. The room had a fridge with milk ,bottles of water and excellent yoghurts, and another cupboard had three choices of cereal.Along with the usual tea and coffee, there was a selection of fruit teas and sachets of Galaxy drinking chocolate. The room was quite warm,so the fan came in handy. We didn't eat at the bar,but the food looked very nice, and not the usual pub grub. We'd certainly go there again and heartily recommend the Seven Stars.Well done to the staff!
Cons: I was disappointed that we didn't have a view, and the fan, although appreciated, was very noisy.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Central location but still quiet and peaceful with views of the harbour Large, comfortable room with a great bed Lovely meal at the pub restaurant with a good selection of local ales Friendly and accommodating staff Excellent shower Fridge in the room with tea, coffee and cereal provided
Cons: - The attic room we stayed in was very warm. A large fan was provided which we made constant use of but it was still 25C+ at night. Obviously the hotel can't do much about the weather, but when we arrived the windows in the room were all closed so it was very stuffy. Perhaps the staff could have aired the room out, or, in the long term, look to install air conditioning. - There are no parking spaces for guests so you need to either park at the pay and display in town, park on a residential street and walk or park in one of the 'free for 1/2 hours between 9am and 6pm' spaces, which is what we did.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious tastefully decorated. Lovely shower . Little extras like earplugs (which were needed) toiletries and a fridge etc. Would thoroughly recommend.
Cons: It was noisier than we would have liked from the room above . This was due to inconsiderate neighbours than anything else.

4.5 Okay
Pros: Has some facilities on the entertainment and sport side of things. The shower was quite good.
Cons: Rooms need updating and little dated with tiny old fashioned tv’s and decor. Wifi was useless for doing anything that was work/business related! Staff were really slow and uninterested apart from a girl called Chelsea (I think that’s was her name) on reception. Breakfast was ok but choice was a little sparse. a lot of moving and not a lot getting done with staff!

Pros: The staff were very friendly, breakfast was good and the facilities were good.

Cons: The sausage at breakfast but then I am very fussy with sausage
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast really lovely, hosts really lovely, fantastic location. Really lovely evening meal and entertainment
Cons: Nothing we didn’t like
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Central location in historic Dartmouth property, the ideal base for us whilst doing South West Coast Path / kayaking / boat trips. We paid extra for a large room, with sofa and lots of space for our adult children to chill with us (they had another bedroom upstairs). There’s a fridge (useful, as brilliant wine shop on the Butter Walk nearby selling Sharpham Estate wine) brilliant amenities in room (proper coffee) and we had a lovely meal in the restaurant. Breakfast is generous and freshly cooked. Staff couldn’t be more helpful. Dartmouth is a lovely place to be based, but the accommodation options are limited so we were very glad to have found this.
Cons: We loved it, but be aware that this isn’t a “hotel” - these are well appointed rooms above a restaurant, the owner lives upstairs and is on site. Nowhere in Dartmouth is cheap, but we felt this was a good value option.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: We loved our stay at Anzac! Everything about it was great - the location is brilliant, it’s easy to get everywhere on foot, the room was really clean and spacious with lots of good facilities, and the food (breakfast and dinner!) was lovely! Simon and Aga were very friendly, helpful and accommodating for the duration of our stay! Thank you!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The scrambled egg at breakfast was the best I have ever had. We had a meal in the Bistro on one night and it was perfectly cooked. The room was large and comfortable and bottles of water and biscuits were provided along with the tea and coffee making facilities. The town centre position was perfect and we managed to park nearby.
Cons: I don't think we disliked anything.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Simon was great. He helped us with our parking and gave lots of helpful suggestions on places to visit. He went the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable.
Cons: The room was very clean and comfortable however coukd do with a bit of a repaint - particularly the shower room.
