Overlooking Oxtongue Lake, this cottage resort is 10 km from Algonquin Park. It offers on-site access to a sandy beach and a fully equipped kitchen in each cosy cottage. A TV is included in all waterfront cottages at Lakewoods Cottage Resort. Gas barbecue facilities and a picnic table are also provided. Select cottages feature a gas fireplace. Guests can enjoy free use of canoes, kayaks and paddle boats. Paddling the Oxtongue River to Ragged Falls is a popular activity. A children’s playground, volleyball court and horseshoe pits are also available. The town of Huntsville is 30 km from Cottage Resort Lakewoods. Dwight Beach is 10 km away.
Pros: The cottage was well-equipped for making meals. It also had Internet and satellite TV, which I wasn't expecting. Nice location by the Oxtongue Lake and one of the closest lodgings to the West Gate of Algonquin Provincial Park.
Cons: Just another foot of space on each side of the bed would have sufficed to eliminate the cramped feeling of the bedrooms. Also, be prepared that there is no maid service (at least no one changed our towels during the three nights we were there). I don't need someone to make my bed for me, but clean towels would have been nice since there is little space in the cottage for hanging them up to dry each day.
Pros: Small but equipped with everything you would like. The area is very nice as it is near a big like and a national park. At the reception you can take movies, board games, books,... all for free during your stay. So if the weather is bad, you still have something else to do!
Pros: Lakefront, clean, comfy cozy,
Pros: The privacy, location and facilities of the cottage was beautiful and excellent. Coming from Asia, I am particular about the comfort and cleanliness . THIS cottage exceeded my expectations.
Pros: The cottage is extremely clean and well decorated. Kitchen is well equipped to cook your meals, includes a bbq which we used. Really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend!
Pros: The host was incredibly friendly and very thoughtful in making sure we had a great time. The cottage is fully equipped and ideally located if you want to explore Algonquin park.
Pros: Very clean cottage, amazing owners, free canoes, clean beach, LCBO and store 10m away. Beautiful trails and waterfall
Pros: The kindness of the owner, upon arrival. The fully equipped kitchen. The view. The amenities. The serenity. The information booklet. All were appreciated.
Pros: Great place. Lots to do.
Cons: Bed was too small for two people. Needs to be a queen but the room wouldn't fit one.
Pros: It was very cozy and it had everything you need and more so you can enjoy your stay comfortably
Located in Lake of Bays (Parry Sound District), Dwight Village Motel is within a 5-minute drive of Dwight Beach and Lake of Bays. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The staff were so nice!
Pros: Great that it was located not far from Huntsville, as well as close to Algonquin Park. Lots to see in the area.
Cons: There were way too many mosquitoes! But that was to be expected because of all the rain this spring.
Pros: Very clean
Pros: The room was very clean and comfortable. The location was exactly what we wanted.....close to Dwight.
Pros: U can BBQ in the area
Pros: Friendly and clean. A little outdated though but have stayed before so we’re aware of that.
Cons: Tv only got 4 channels. Listed I believe 8 channels but half were blank
Pros: Beautiful outdoor activities areas with fire pit, logs for free, sport areas basketball, volleyball, swingers, and very nice and clean barbecues. Super nice flowers. Very nice staff.
Cons: A lot of insects of all kind in the room. Dead insects on the walls. Super stinky armchairs. A bit of toilette smell in the rooms coming from outside during night. The bed sheets are weird. They don’t stay on the bed you end up sleeping on the mattress. Old bathrooms.
Pros: Our room and the motel grounds (BBQs, firepits and ball/soccer area) were wonderful and "private"; everything was in pristine condition with easy access to the highway. Also the restaurant next door (Moose Cafe) was excellent for breakfast.
Cons: It would be great if there was an external pool as the motel is a short drive from, and opposite, the beach. Also, upon check-in, we should be asked how we prefer to receive a copy (paper or e-mail) of the receipt since the office was locked when we checked out; accordingly, we were asked to leave the keys in the room.
With a stay at Port Cunnington Lodge & Resort in Lake of Bays (Parry Sound District), you'll be a 1-minute drive from Lake of Bays and 10 minutes from Marsh's Falls. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Cons: Mattresses could be firmer
Pros: Property is beautiful and staff were nice. loved the view; its serene and calm like the perfect autumn wallpaper. This is the second time we have come here. The weather was rainy so could not enjoy the trails; other than that property was good as usual. This piece of Muskoka is really a piece of paradise!!!
Cons: We have come here before; but this year i was dissappointed with the dinner at the lodge on thanksgiving weekend; last time the food was delicious and it was a buffet ; and i could see the chef’s effort and everything tasted and looked so good. This time ; food was average and tasted nothing special. It was not a buffet. Also the desserts were like store bought and warmed up!!! Plz my suggestion go back to the quality and standard of meal of 2015 specially when the price is over 100$.
Pros: Resort was beautiful and well maintained. Lots of activities on and off the resort
Pros: Beautiful property, peaceful sorroundinfs-wouldn't change a thing!
Pros: Clean, quiet, beautiful and well maintained cottages by the lake. Everything is Perfect.
Pros: Good facilities, Awesome views, Kind staffs, Amazing beach.
Pros: Super clean rooms
Cons: Summer is hot without AC
Pros: nice family friendly location. weather was great. Location is right by the water. plenty of room around the property to change location from sun to shade and to quieter spots.
Pros: Situated on a lovely, peaceful cove with well maintained, spacious grounds and a nice beach.
Cons: Dinner was very good, but is only available as part of a meal plan or as a prix fixe menu. Be aware that, in keeping with the peaceful setting, TV is not provided in the rooms.
Pros: Beautiful property, the cottage was clean and very well maintained. Like the use of Canoes, etc. There was a dining package available for those who really wanted to relax and not cook! Beach area is great for little ones as it slopes very gradually. Loved the bird show!
Cons: The bed for 2 adults really should have been at least a queen! Squeezing in a double bed was not not the most fun, especially an uncomfortable one at that.
With a stay at Dwight Riverside Inn in Lake of Bays (Parry Sound District), you'll be within a 15-minute walk of Dwight Beach and Lake of Bays. Featured amenities include express check-in and express check-out. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Interior is great, nice new bathroom and fantastic beds. Lovely crisp white linen.
Cons: The exterior is run down.
Pros: The owners we’re fabulous incredibly kind! The rooms far exceeded expectations! Just lovely and exactly what was needed after hiking all day in Algonquin Park!
Pros: Very nice motel, nature and Riverside swimming next to the motel. Nice and sandy public beach at beautiful bays -lake and grocery store in walking distance. Opportunity to barbeque, nice lawn for playing activity, very nice and friendly owners- they might prepare s campfire for you. Canoe rental possibly. Algonquin park entrance is just 10 minutes driving distance away. Good place to stay more days in nature, seeing beautiful stars at night and start activities snd day trips from here.
Pros: Dan the host is an awesome person, preparing camp fire for the guests. Good location to visit Algonquin Park or to spent a nice day at the beach (which was never crowded)
Cons: No hairdryer available, rooms with carpet which at least I don’t like.
Pros: 偶买咖,买它！ Very big property with not so many people cuz it's newly renovated. The location is good, both 15 mins driving to the town and the Algonquin west gate. All people here are very friendly, including the boat shop, ice cream shop , breakfast shop and the grocery store which all in 5 min walk distance. And they all know what they are doing, things are on spot. The cover/blanket are extremely comfy, the beds are OK, we got two kinds of bed in our room, the smaller bed is perfect for me, the bigger one is too soft for my taste. But the cover/blanket is a super plus. The room is clean and quiet, even with both room filled in besides you, it's still super quite, the insolation is great. Over all, if you compare it with $500/night hotel, it's not quite there , but I would like to pay $250 or even $300 to stay here during the peak season.
Cons: If I am the one who running this business, I will put more units in this big property, I was wondering how they can keep things going with only 12 units earning cash. But it's a good thing for visitors.
Pros: I loved the staff, they were always around to give us anything we needed, also renting the canoe was awesome!!!! Came with a few friends and we had a blast.. beach is walking distance and there’s a beautiful view and dock to jump off
Pros: Clean & huge playground! My son & my friends kids enjoyed it:)
Pros: The room was basic but had everything you need if you just want a place to shower, sleep, rest and spend your days in the park. The best part is the lawn out front. It was nice to see families enjoying it and the two bbqs were easy to use. We enjoyed a quick burger on the last night. It's also really close to a small beach which was lovely at dusk. Henriettas is just down the road, perfect for delicious sandwiches and cakes. When we arrived the lady checking us in was really helpful and answered all of our question. It was a relief as we were exhausted and need information easily before we crashed! Thumbs up!
Pros: Dan and Trippta are awesome
Pros: Very lovely place with lovely hosts. Perfect situated for visiting Algonquin and to enjoy time at the lake.
The Lake of Bays Lodge (formerly known as Bristlecone Lodge) is an all season resort, surrounded by tall pines overlooking the sparkling blue waters of Dwight Bay. This resort is located in Dwight, 250 km from Toronto and 18 minutes' drive from Huntsville. You can choose from standard rooms, suites and traditional Muskoka cottages. Each cottage features a wood or gas fireplace, as well as a deck with impressive lake views. Free WiFi is available. Guests can use the fire pits and barbecues at The Lake Of Bays Lodge. Children will enjoy the on-site playground. There is a sandy beach and dock on the waterfront. The Lake Of Bays Lodge is 20 km from The West Gate entrance into Alqonquin Provincial Park. The popular town of Bracebridge is 59 km away.
Pros: Location is beautiful. Unfortunately we were in ground floor of lodge and walls and ceiling is paper thin so family above was running over our bed all night. Towels were not fresh. No soap available. Etc etc.
Pros: Property manager, Kristal was kind and she introduced us the properties in the lodge kindly. The downstairs of reception has billiard, air hokey and other recreation materials and we could enjoyed it very much. Very quiet location and we could reach lakeside just across the road.
Cons: The carpet of the room did not kept cleanness in some area. But, it is acceptable level. BBQ was equipped but it was outside near entrance, then we had to bring the food grilled across the room to balcony. It was not convenient. We stayed the room A01 and it seems other rooms had BBQ in more convenient location.
Pros: There was no power after midnight till we checked out next day 11 am. It spoiled the entire event. We can’t believe this can happen in Canada.
Cons: The property had mosquitoes and no power after midnight.
Pros: Kept well maintained
Cons: Misleading, it’s not right on the water. You have to walk a short ways and cross the road.
Pros: Friendly lady at front desk, homey feel of the place. Great location!
Cons: Some minor issues with the plug in the bathroom tub, overall not a big deal.
Pros: Need just another blanket for the bed.
Pros: We loved the shallow beach for kids, sand beach, kids playground, fire pit, picturesque views but mostly the people we met.
Cons: The cabins look like they are 75 years old with maintenance being performed by a 2 year old. Our bbq was totally rusted out and ready to explode so they gave us another one. Mousetrap was still in kitchen, bathroom was crumbling, fully stocked kitchen had 3 of most things but trying pan was only 7" with a 10" spatula (could get better supplies at Salvation Army store)
Pros: The location was nice.
Cons: The first cottage had no hot water. We had to move into another. During the last night of our stay there was a power failure. We were promised a discount for the inconvenience, however they charged the full price. The cottages are completely overpriced.
Pros: Location, use of facilities/amenities
Cons: Broken fridge and AC
Pros: Location is beautiful
Cons: Cleaneanleness. The rooms and the facility are outdated and not comfortable
With a stay at Algonquin Lakeside Inn in Algonquin Highlands, you'll be on the beach, within a 10-minute drive of Algonquin Provincial Park and Oxtongue Lake. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: This motel is the cheapest on the area
Cons: I don’t normally write reviews but this place needs a warning. This place is very badly kept and in some spots downright dangerous(broken and rotten deck noard right aside your door) Our carpet was very damp and from water stains on the walls, my guess is the room was flooded recently, explaining the smells. The TV did not work and the fireplace was closed off with cheap panelling. The screens were either off completely or not stapled down properly. The weeds have taken over all flower beds.
Pros: We are so happy to find this nice place during our road trip. So friendly and caring staff, shabby charming cottage with amazing lake view, barbecue, sun deck, kayak rental - we did not miss anything and wish good luck to the owner and staff for renovating work. Highly recommended for family as glamping location
Pros: The view was beautiful! The room was ok but the bed was comfortable!
Cons: Everything was great! No complaints! The staff was awesome!
Pros: The location close to the lake
Cons: Nearly everthing.
Pros: Lake access was nice.
Cons: We were woken at 2:30a to find we were being devoured by bedbugs. We scooped three into a cup and went to front desk which was locked and dark. After minutes calling the number, one f the two staff appeared and stubbornly brought us to a new room, saying it wasn’t a big deal. We checked the new bed and found them filthy, dust-covered, and the linens were stained. We didn’t see any bugs so we tried to sleep after hauling our bags between rooms with no help, apology, or admission. Several hours later, we tried to get garbage bags to seal our clothes, and the same staff waved it off as “unnecessary.” They claimed they deep cleaned every room every day, which couldn’t have been true given the filth of both rooms we had. We insisted and after sealing our belongings, we checked out. When pressed at check out, the staff gave us a number to call, stood up and walked away from the front desk. We tried calling for ten minutes, with no success, and left two voice mails. The staff did not return at any point. No contact has been made with us since, despite numerous messages. When checking in, the staff was wearing dirty kitchen. Whites with the same gloves they had on in the kitchen. As for the room, two thirds of the electrical plugs didn’t work, those that did were so loose that we had to prop our charges in. There was no phone, cups, cutlery, kettle, or coffee maker.
Pros: Receptionists very friendly. Room very clean. Location is excellent. Oxtongue lake is beautiful.
Cons: Outdoor facilities are in bad shape. Deck and dock Chairs are broken, dock is unsafe and sinking. The canoes leak water. It says on the web site that they are complementary but they want to charge you $20 when you ask for them. The place needs a lot of care and fixes. No freezer on my room. Hope they correct all these issues for next year.
Pros: Free use of the canoes and kayak was great. The front desk staff were friendly
Cons: Two staff that I spoke to did not know where Algonquin Park was or Dwight. As Dwight was the town the motel was in and Algonquin Park only 10 mins away I found that very disturbing. Also the blind wouldn't close properly so that it was possible to see right into the room and they did not have any ice in the motel.
Pros: Located on the water
Cons: The rooms were not as booked on the site. Property was very run down.
Pros: Great location at the side of a lake, perfect to relax by. Spacious rooms.
Cons: Staff were not the most welcoming on arrival. Shame that there was no bar or posibilty to buy alcohol to enjoy on the terrace. Make sure to take plenty of mosquito repellant if you're planning to sit by the lake on a summer evening!
Pros: The rooms and facilities were clean. Nothing to rave about but clean. It had a beautiful view but not a lot to do with it (barely any space). 5 min from ragged falls.
Cons: “Activity space” was not existent. Nothing to do really there. Only one common area and if a group is there you stick to yourself.. the food was awful. We got a refund. It was 100% microwaved pasta and butter chicken was soup..
