close by to alot of restaurants, shopping and in the center.
place was clean. nothing fancy but good value for money to stop for a night when traveling through the town
I liked that dogs were allowed and that when I requested no service for the room they listened. It would have been nice to have a fridge and table in the room.
Likes the newly renovated rooms and price
The whole place smelled like marijuana. We could not sleep, it smelled so bad.
The rooms have been redesigned in a contemporary look. Very nice. Dinette area with a built in sofa like seat very nice for working on laptops while watching some tv. The first night there was a kind of weird guy hanging out in the upstairs hall. Might have scared some people. A little mentally ill but pretty harmless.
Clean sheets. Very worn, very beat place. Wallpaper buckling, holes in the wall covered with plastic electrical box covers, a motion detector in the room that made no sense at all -- I don't even want to think why it was there. Crummy old TV with non-functional remote.
I liked that it was easy to book and a six dollar cab ride from the train station. My booking website had the name of the hotel wrong. I called and the kid behind the counter was not fluent enough in English to explain to me that he had me booked or even ask me if he had me booked at his hotel regardless of the mixup with the hotel name. He was Indian and the language barrier was that bad. I had my cab driver try to talk to him since he was from Bangladesh and that was equally useless. When I checked out the next morning, I had a cup of the free apple juice in the lobby and had to go spit it out the first sip in the parking lot.
It was more affordable than other places in the area. Very old building and furnishings. The first room we were given, the key card didn't even open the door. The next room was moderately okay, but the exhaust fan in the bathroom made a horrible screeching noise.
fast internet service, fastest I have seen at a hotel.
Gateway is not a trendy, brand name hotel, but it was a clean, decent place at a great price. The desk staff people were pleasant and helpful. The bathroom fixtures, fridge, TV and AC all worked fine. It's very close to the Raritan and Somerville train stations, as well as Duke Farms, where I was taking a weekend class. I would definitely stay here again. It's a solid, no-frills bargain choice.
The location The owners keep the garbage right outside the room, so it smelled...bad (no the hotel wasn't packed, they could have moved us.) Unable to get internet service, too far from the router, no coffee, the towels were horrible, the sheets didn't fit the bed...
It was convenient for what we needed to be close to. The staff was super friendly and helpful. This room is good for sleeping only. I did not pay attention to the fact that the room is only 120 square foot. I was shocked at the size of the room. The inside was old and outdated, but it was fairly clean. The property was quiet considering the location is on a super busy state route. Wi-Fi was terrible. There was little to no hot water, unless you are accustomed to taking 3 minute showers.
