Very easy to reach and located conveniently close to lots there is to see in Edinburgh. Nice modern facilities. Very extensive breakfast offerings.
Location is great and rooms are spacious. But staff is kind of rude and don’t really know what they are doing, it felt like all of them were on their first day. Also, one elevator was out of order and it was taking forever to get the other one, and there was no one there to fix it. Finally poor drainage in the bathroom is kind of annoying.
Pros. I chose this hotel because it was centrally located, easy to walk to from the train station, and a good price. It was exactly as advertised - no more, no less. If you are just looking for a place to lay your head at night while exploring Edinburgh, IBIS is a good choice. The staff were friendly and efficient, the room and bathroom was clean, and check-in/out was simple and direct. Overall I would stay here again.
Cons. In over 20 years of travel, every hotel except one has fallen short on pillows. Doesn't matter where, they are universally flat and usually require 3 or so to be good for me - I'm a side sleeper who likes fluffy firm pillows.
Pros. The location was near many restaurants, shops, and tourist attractions.
Cons. It's very minimal and didn't get that feeling of home away from home as other hotels do.
