10.0 Excellent
Pros: Vicky and her hubby are lovely and natural hosts who make you feel very comfortable and welcome
Cons: nothing, only constructive negative to perhaps look into is that it might be good to have blackout curtains inthe bedrooms for light sleepers like myself. I found myself up at about 4 am because of too much light coming through.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable and welcoming. Hosts super, nothing was too much trouble. Homemade goodies delicious. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners were so charming, and the breakfast was really superb. They had a darling miniature wire- hair dachshund as well .Loved the house and beautiful garden. I was offered tea and scones and clotted cream after checking in. The village of Crondall was extremely pretty. The room was just perfect with a comfortable bed and lots of amenities. I would definitely stay at Vine Cottage again.
Cons: I liked everything.
10.0 Excellent

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hosts who gave us a warm welcome, Excellent afternoon tea in the garden was a treat. Although we stayed during a spell of extremely hot weather we were provided with bottled water in an ice bucket which was most appreciated. Home baking and preserves at breakfast were delicious.
Cons: Missing Daphne.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hosts were fantastic, so lovely it was like staying with friends. Room and gardens were beautiful. Had a wide range of drink choices in the room and some yummy strawberries and biscuits and the breakfast the next day was delicious.

Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful cottage in a gorgeous location with delightful hosts. We were made most welcome and would highly recommend Vine Cottage. The little extra touches like home made jam and scones made it even nicer.
Cons: Nothing!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: My heart sank when I realised that there was no ensuite. A private bathroom is inconvenient for dashing to the loo in the middle of the night. The dressing gowns provided are great if you are a standard size. Having said that, the towels were large enough to cover up with and everything else was so amazing that moaning about no ensuite seems petty. Vicky & Robin are superb hosts & their beautiful home is a tranquil haven. Home made rock cakes on the tray with an amazing variety of teas. Breakfast was superb. Home made jam & all served on beautiful china.
Cons: That I could only stay one night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Lovely cottage and situation

Pros: Availability of the owners for explanations and the pick up to/from Farnham Station. I lost the sole of one of my trainers and the owner kindly lent me hers. Very comfortable bed. Immaculate bathroom. Lovely garden to chill out. Pub nearby - 10-min walk through the forest.
Cons: The room was advertised as ensuite but you had to pass by the upper hallway to reach the bathroom (3 steps only but not ideal for a romantic weekend) There is a dog on the premises, very kind and sweet. I am not too sure whether that is mentioned on the accommodation page.

Pros: Rooms were very comfortable and clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast was great
Cons: There's nothing that I disliked about the hotel or our stay
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent establishment which surprised us considering it is in a country side but the standard and offering is world class I must say. Very modern and yet very traditional English establishment which has been well maintained. Only regret we have is that we did not stay for much longer.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Easy to book in nothing seemed too much trouble for the staff Nice comfy bed. Fluffy towels,
Cons: Would have preferred a shower rather than one over the bath. Food excellent only criticism had the duck with pears for dinner would have preferred warm pears rather than ice cold.

Pros: Very attentive and friendly staff, restaurant for lunch offered better than average pub food at reasonable prices. First rate full English breakfast
Cons: The shower tiling and ceiling had signs of black mould so some more attention to detail on cleaning and maintenance would be useful
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were helpful and attentive Rooms were clean and comfortable
Cons: Hotel address suggests Farnham but it is a bit outside Farnham, not easy to find and on a main road so location was not great if you wanted something in Farnham itself
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast, friendly service.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Great Breakfast
4.3 Okay
Cons: Being a big fan of the B&D’s in Cookham and Windsor (I use them both for work functions and socially) I thought this was a safe bet for a birthday night away with my other half and meeting friends for dinner. Unfortunately the condition of the Churt pub is very disappointing in comparison to its sister pubs. Some of this is down to wear and tear but generally it’s just dirty- carpets, cushions, seats etc are all in need of a serious clean, the same could be said for our bathroom. The first bedroom we were given was small, very plain and shabby with no character - not what I would expect for for £165! We were relocated to a second option which had far better decor but looked over the flat roof kitchen which has large, noisy extraction equipment. Staff were average- didn’t seem to clean up spilt food or drinks from floors or tables- I had to ask a waitress to clean up all the blood she had spilt from my main course before I either put my dress or arm in it. Plates were cleared from the table before we had finished eating and drinks orders forgotten about. Considering our dinner bill came to just under £400 - it really didn’t feel like value for money. There are far better pubs in the area, who’s service is far better and feel like far better value for money. Overall a pretty poor birthday weekend away
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable and homely
Cons: Bedroom above kitchen and no tea/coffee in room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant young staff team, vibrant , energetic ,mostly students these young people we applaud, they made our stay first class!
Cons: Our room (Wickham) was vey small , but cosy. We will return in the future and would like a larger room please!
7.0 Good
Pros: I booked this for my husband and stepsons for a boys' night away so my review is based on their feedback. They liked the location and the friendly, welcoming staff. The breakfast was excellent, all made with local produce.
Cons: The food at dinner was hugely disappointing. Starters and sides were good - but the main dish (a 30oz West Country Rib of Beef to share) was overcooked. The beef came with potatoes, which all three said were hard and inedible. My husband complained at the time and the staff responded well and offered them a complimentary dessert. The boys thoroughly enjoyed what they chose but my husband (who is French & in the food business) didn't rate his cheese board at all. The cheese was fridge cold and the grapes and celery were past their best. On the whole, the food was overpriced and underwhelming. The sheets in the boys' room were stained. Something else they mentioned, which was beyond the hotel's control, was the noise during the night. A car alarm went off in the early hours and there was a plumbing emergency which meant that people were up and about and chatting, making sleep difficult. I feel disappointed that I booked somewhere in good faith and, while my family enjoyed their night away, it didn't live up to expectations. It was a lovely place but the attention to detail that could have made it great was lacking.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Decent wine list.
Cons: Our room was noisy to begin with (some form of generator or extractor hum), but then a deafening droning noise from an airlock caused us to vacate our room at 4:30am and do the 1.5 hour drive home to London. Another couple was sitting in the lobby in their nightwear to escape the noise, waiting for someone from the hotel to pitch to deal with it (there are no night staff on site). This same noise had happened in the afternoon and been reported to hotel staff, but they had not resolved it. Our room also faced directly into the pub garden, so had zero privacy. You could close the blinds and sit in the dark or be stared at. The wi-fi is an O2 freebie - to sign up you need a phone signal and there isn't one, so no wi-fi. We returned from an event at 10:40 where there had not been a lot of food and were starving. Clearly it was too late for restaurant service, but we asked if it would be possible to get a cheese sandwich or anything that took little effort. We were told to buy crisps at the bar. The stair carpets are filthy and the carpet in our room leading into the bathroom was threadbare. There were also niggles with the bar service, but not material enough to list. Despite having to vacate in the middle of the night, no one followed up with us until I left a message at around 3pm, at which time I received a sincere apology and explanation about the noise. They offered to comp the room (obviously) but not the two glasses of wine on our tab. Only when I pointed out that given that we had had to drive home in the middle of the night, they might consider whether that was appropriate, did they then comp the wine as well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly atmosphere, good food,
Cons: No phone reception, dirty carpets, mirrors in the bar filthy

7.0 Good
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: No internet all day and night yet not warned. No sugar in room
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff, very friendly, well looked after property and an excellent location. We would definitely stay again.
Cons: It’s a carbohydrate only breakfast. Bit of a problem for me as I’m on a ketogenic diet (no carbs). Still, there’s a smashing posh cafe up the road where you can stuff your face to your heart’s content, so not a disaster at all. How to get to it? Come out of the front door, turn right, walk 200 metres, cross over the road and go through the entrance to a lovely old street. If you feel as though you’re in a Harry Potter movie then you’re in the right place. Coffee is great too.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff, the hotel was in a great location in the middle of Farnham and our room was beautiful and very clean.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Spotlessly clean room, clearly recently renovated and exceptionally well priced.
Cons: The bedding could have been better quality, divers felt a bit cheap but given the price the whole experience exceeded my expectations.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderfull place :). Lovely location, quiet.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Modern, courtyard-based rooms. Good bathroom.
Cons: Not the most comfortable bed.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Room was of a good size for one person. Fixtures and fittings of a high quality. Housekeeping good. The proximity to the Town Centre. Ease of Parking. Friendly staff
Cons: Only a couple of minor points. The TV was small and the speaker not very good. I found the wardrobe too low.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Welcoming professional staff, clean room ready ahead of allocated arrival time
Cons: Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay, to enhance the experience I would like to suggest a wider selection at breakfast (cold meats, cheese and different coffee offer)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Spotless rooms and hotel
Cons: No cooked breakfast and the continental was very limited. Eg no cheese, ham etc.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff, location and the room was perfect.
Cons: There was nothing I would change.

3.3 Mediocre
Pros: nothing about this hotel was nice!!!!!!
Cons: when we arrived the room we were allocated was disgusting! the night porter was outside smoking and took 20minutes to answer his pager only for me to find him outside smoking then on the morning of check out the receptionist also stank of cigarette smoke!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful food and lovely staff
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very large, comfortable bed. High toilet suitable for those with mobility issues.
Cons: Lift to first floor, ( I did not ask for ground floor room as at time of booking I was more mobile)
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the size of the room, the bed and the shower- The walk through the forest and by the pond was also very relaxing.
Cons: I found the lady at the front desk a little rude on checkout but that might be me- she never looked up at me, spoke to me while kept looking at her computer and was very abrupt when asking for my room number. She might have just been having a rough morning.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Location only
Cons: The service was absolutely poor, food was always wrong, and gad to call fir service, drinks, menus, ect
9.5 Excellent
Cons: Need to have a better stocked bar especially when there’s a wedding!
6.3 Good
Pros: The hotel was in a lovely location and very close to the venue I was going to, so very convenient. The breakfast was perfectly good, I had the Continental option and there were a range of options to select. I just didn't feel that it was worth the price being charged.
Cons: I was staying in the Yew suite and was disappointed with the general state of the room, especially considering the rate being charged. It was tired and shabby, someone had tried to make the curtain pelmets look more contemporary by ripping off the facing fabric however had left lots of staples sticking out, there were cobwebs and scuffs and tears on the wallpaper. Perfectly comfortable and a good bed but just didn't meet expectations. Also the bathroom ventilation fan hummed constantly even when the lights were turned off which was just irritating!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location stunning surroundings. Staff on front desk great and Ivan on the bar was a legend
Cons: Dining area sparse, and room needs some work, some of the wait staff and other bar staff (not Ivan) weren’t exactly customer friendly

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great place to stay. Would definitely be returning if I’m in the area
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and modern. Beds were very comfortable. The area was calm and peaceful and the peacocks in the year were a nice touch
Cons: Very weak mobile reception. There was a WiFi network bit it was also breaking up. The cottage would use a WiFi access point.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I booked this place last minute as it was cheap and not far from Portsmouth docks after our journey home from France. I couldn’t believe my eyes when we pulled up. The loveliest place. Perfect for a family of 4. The boys had their own little bedroom above us. When we then saw the place in the morning when it was light we couldn’t believe the surrounding areas. Absolutely stunning. Not sure why it was so cheap!!
Cons: Nothing at all :)
4.3 Okay
Pros: The on site staff did their best to address my queries. But phone message left on answerphine for main number went unanswered. They have offered my a partial refund in compensation as I needed to find wifi in nearest town instead.
Cons: There was no wifi, no 4g and very sketchy mobile signal. Downstairs rooms very noisy, sliding door inadequate and very squeaky floorboards above.
7.0 Good
Pros: Clean and comfortable rooms
Cons: No WiFi. Staff went home at 5.20 so couldn't ask about WiFi. No staff phones were answered when called.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything else was perfect
Cons: No milk to have for morning tea
5.5 Okay
Pros: - Really nice idea, especially if you are getting married and need people to stay close - It was cheap and had free parking - The bed was comfy and the balcony was a nice addition I would not have had in a hotel
Cons: - Was not made clear that it was a house share and that the living room and kitchen were communal areas before booking - I would not have booked otherwise - If you have people staying upstairs then you can hear everything and it sounds like they are stomping - The front door doesn’t lock and it made me feel unsafe - I had to stay in a locked bedroom after 7 pm through not wanting to be kicked out of the communal area - Hadn’t been cleaned and there were dead spiders in the bathroom - The freezer was not on and ready to use
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The lot

7.0 Good
Pros: the bed was comfy, breakfast was tasty, and out side area was great
Cons: decor needed paint and carpet was old,
4.5 Okay
Pros: Building from outside
Cons: Room facilities
6.3 Good
Pros: Room was a nice size. Having breakfast available on property was also nice.
Cons: No air condition (and we were there during the middle of a heat wave) so we had to leave our windows open and go into town and buy a fan. Problem is that they put the smoking section underneath our room and people would smoke there all night. It made our room hot and smoky.
7.5 Good
Pros: A very convenient place to stay for the wedding venue (Northbrook Park) next door.
Cons: The room we stayed in had interconnecting doors so you could hear ‘everything’ going on next door, needless to say I didn’t get to sleep until 4.30 in the morning! Not the hotels fault at all.
7.5 Good
Pros: Unusual location
Cons: As it was a very hot evening, there should be fans in the rooms.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Room was very comfortable. Lovely location. Felt like a friendly family hotel.
Cons: All good
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was lovely n clean with lots of character. The staff were so welcoming n couldn’t do enough for us which made our stay so pleasant. Kevin n Callum we’re very friendly in the bar n Rachel at reception was so friendly, helpful n efficient at her job. The food was good
6.8 Good
Pros: nice building, nice grounds, comfortable
Cons: In need of investment and more staff to encourage more customers
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I was attending a wedding at a near by venue - the hotel is lovely the breakfast was excellent and the staff were very helpful and a lot of fun
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: The staff were very friendly. The bed was very comfortable, gorgeous grounds around the hotel!
Cons: The room is a little dated, I wasn’t expecting it to be super modern due to the building but the furniture and bathroom needs updating but this can be done to keep with the style of the hotel. The room sort of let down the hotel’s beautiful grounds and other area’s. The location also was a lot further than I expected from the main town.
Hotel De Vie - Farnham - Bedroom
12
7.8 Good (147 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Farnham, Hotel de Vie is within a 15-minute drive of Jane Austen's House Museum and Farnham Castle. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: Could do with a spruce up
5.5 Okay
Pros: Bedroom very well decorated and well furnished. One member of staff around was helpful, but looked like he was overstretched.
Cons: Overall look was shabby and furniture in communal areas looked as if it needed some tlc. Breakfast offer was very limited, with no choice of jams etc. Very much help yourself to stuff still in packets from Sainsbury. No opportunity to warm croissant or like as only toaster available. Bathroom mirror light didn't work.
5.8 Okay
Pros: As I was leaving at 5am for a Running Race, some food was left for us on a table in the foyer but it was very basic. No cereal, just some cellophane wrapped Pain au chocolate and sliced white bread for toast. I think there were yogurts in the fridge. The hot water heater was left on so we could make tea or instant coffee. It was adequate. The room was clean and we had a WiFi code.
Cons: No tea and coffee facilites in room. I did get a bottle of water. I wanted a cup of tea and was allowed to use the breakfast facilites in the foyer, but there was only enough water for one cup. I did mention this but it wasn't filled immediately. I felt we were a bit "on rations" for tea and coffee. I would have brought my own tea bags if we had had a kettle in the room. I am used to taking my own breakfast with me if I am doing an event but I still had to go to the foyer at about 4 am to get hot water for a cup of tea. Considering the room was called Decadence it was not great value for money.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was tasty but not enough for someone with an appetite! Didn't see any preserves (jam, honey, marmalade etc.)! Bed was comfortable.
Cons: One person looking after reception, breakfast and housekeeping. Everytime something was needed you had to press a button for attention. Place felt like a ghost ship. Not welcoming! No tea/coffee making facilities in bedroom.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I liked my room The quietness and privacy And the staff were friendly
Cons: I didn’t like my Room Key. It was old fashioned and I sometimes struggled with the door. Breakfast could have been a little better as I got burnt bacon. But everything else was nice and the room was beautiful.
6.3 Good
Pros: Breakfast was bad. Surely we should have been offered freshly made coffee. Nothing set out, no butter in fridge, only a dirty, almost empty pot of Flora in fridge. Very unwelcoming. Surely they should do better than this.
Cons: Breakfast!
8.8 Excellent

Cons: Nothing

5.5 Okay
Pros: Not much
Cons: Hot as he.l , no air con , not sure why. But south facing doesn't help without insulation
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Hotel provided a lot of amenities for example spa, gym, swimming pool, gardens, restaurant and bar. It was possible to spend the day in the hotel as everything was on hand.
Cons: Quite isolated and the sat nav in my car was unable to locate hotel.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Rude staff on arrival breakfast and dinner service was not made clear so had to order a take away to our rooms
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The food in the restaurant was nice and the young waitress was very helpfull
Cons: The hotel was next to a very busy and loud road, this was made even more uncomfortable as the Hotel rooms never had Air conditioning and the rooms were very hot so we needed to leave the window open. When we asked the receptionist if we could move room to a more quiet room we were told that there were no rooms off the front of the hotel (main road side) but clearly there was. We asked to speak to the manager and were just offered a fan by him. I'm sorry to also add that we spoke to the Male manager and on both opportunities (one of which was serving food in the restaurant) there was a very strong smell of cigarettes from him, it was not pleasant.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Swimming pool facility was good.
Cons: Room was hot and stuffy + corridors. The room could also be cleaner.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: great service at the check in, good car parking. Nice pool and hot tub (could do with a deep clean though). Restaurant had great service and great food.
Cons: nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: Fan and iron provided. Good pressure shower and comfortable beds.
Cons: No drinking water in rooms. Some rooms really stuffy. No veggie option for cooked breakfast and cereal selection limited.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Pool was superb. The gardens are lovely and the breakfast is excellent. Lovely friendly staff. Nothing too much trouble.
Cons: Was rather warm in the room. Window didn't open very far.
6.3 Good
Pros: We were able to sit outside to have dinner whilst our children ran around without inconveniencing anyone.
Cons: The room was far too hot, it was only possible to open a small part of the window and the fan provided wasn’t sufficient to cool the room. Also, the room and bathroom were very dated.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: the pool and spa the besd were comfortable
Cons: I wanted to stay longer but the staff member I dealt with was not a bit helpful quite off in hermanner wish I had seen someone else as had to move mid stay which was very annoying would liked to have extended stay and the man in the swimming spa area sam was also not helpful I asked to see the pool area and was told to look through the small gap in the window maybe need to work on their customer service skills to encourage people to stay again and recommend there was a young man working behind the bar who was ideal service they should take a leaf from his book

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The reception staff were very friendly and the hotel is obviously newly refurbished. The room was lovely, very clean and the bed was comfortable.
Cons: Our air conditioning didn’t work meaning we had to sleep with the window open. The crossing outside kept beeping! If we had been staying longer I would have asked the staff to see if it could be fixed but it wasn’t a problem for one night.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Freshly decorated and updated rooms with big TVs, comfy beds and lovely bathrooms.
6.8 Good
Pros: Clean room, comfy bed and friendly staff
Cons: Hot room, water pressure quite low so shower and flushing the toilet were hard work
7.5 Good
Pros: Good choice of cereals and cooked items. Room was exceptionally quiet given that the accommodation is in the centre. Great nights sleep on firm but comfy bed.
Cons: Only downside was the corridors were in process of being decorated. Can not be helped without shutting the whole section off which would not be financially viable I'm sure
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable beds and clean rooms.
Cons: No lifts and long corridors.
7.5 Good
Pros: Great Thanks
6.8 Good
Pros: Beautiful building
Cons: Incredibly noisy. The walls are paper thin. Banging from decorators commenced from early morning. Shower hard to operate.
6.8 Good
Pros: Position
Cons: Unhelpful check in staff
6.3 Good
Pros: Great location, staff OK.
Cons: We had one of the very new refurbished rooms and unfortunately the floors were very dusty. The shower room walls were also not very clean. Expect a little more for £120 for the base price.
6.3 Good
Pros: Staff were helpful - but had to deal with several problems. Location is excellent.
Cons: Plug in bathroom sink didn't work. Cold water tap in bath didn't work. TV didn't work (though they eventually managed to sort this out).
