The staff were all very helpful and friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. Our room was comfortable and very clean and all the hotel facilities were good. I would happily recommend the hotel to other people.
Bedroom view Very expensive breakfast. Two teas and two tomatoes on toast=£23
The bathroom was very poor
I liked the hotels proximity to Chatsworth House and other places of interest. I found the hotel room draughty and a little cold.
Elegant but unstuffy country house hotel. Friendly efficient staff who were welcoming and helpful.
Convenient location to Chatsworth House, friendly staff and good food. Great views of open countryside.
The hotel was Heaven: beautiful location, amazing staff, and excellent accommodations.
Very peaceful & pleasant spot, rooms superb & food excellent. Breakfast should have been included in the room price
Friendly staff, excellent food No
Cozy rooms and lounge with comfortable couches. Excellent service. Poor quality food at high prices.
Beautifully warm room in a very cold spell Our room was actually in an annexe across a busy/dangerous junction from the main hotel,a fact we were not aware of when booking. When we asked for milk for our tea we were given an uncovered jug to carry across the road ourselves-we are in our 70,s.
N/A We booked to dine in the restaurant at 8 pm. When we arrived there was no-one in the restaurant for a good 6/7 minutes. When someone finally came, they told us that they weren't expecting anyone that evening!! Meal was however, quite good, but certainly not worth the money. Also bottles of wine were very expensive.
The staff were very helpful 2 items on the menu weren't available
Central position, efficient staff
All the staff were very friendly & helpful which is something we always like. The breakfast was very nice. We did feel that overall the price of the room was a little high, given the standard of the room. It was quite an old style room which was in need of a bit of an update, ie the furnishings. There was a new bathroom suite in place which was good but just the room itself needed an update in view of the price charged.
The location was excellent and the hotel itself was very charming and had inherent warmth.
the room was nice although we could hear what other rooms were listening to on tv maybe the guest had the volume a little loud. matteress was a little lumpy
The olde worlde feel comfortable country hotel good food central for town bed was a bit hard
Staff were friendly, relaxed atmosphere, good food, cosy lounge with great open fire, quirky antiques Everything was fine
made to feel "at home" - relaxed atmosphere minor comment:- the wine list was not too impressive and the food, whilst excellent quality, reflected London prices for some items.
It was classy, cosy, comfortable, welcoming, friendly staff, good food, in a lovely location and much better than when we came before 10 years ago. I forgot to pack my husband's razor and although the staff found one for him, it was not good and he cut his finger on it.
the resteraunt and food were outstanding the rooms, although comfortable were still alittle basic.
Lovely, comfortable hotel. Young staff - very helpful and friendly. Hotel loung very homely and informal with settees throughout and a small bar. Bed and pillows lovely - soft and comfortable. Would definately staff here again - highly recommended.
Comfortable, clean bedroom. Lovely restaurant and lounge area with welcoming open fire. Fabulous breakfast! Good food in the restaurant but evening meal limited in choice and quite pricey. Busy main road but quiet enough at bedtime.
Very good breakfast. Would have preferred an a la carte menu for the evening meal
The staff were exceptional and friendly. The cleanliness of the room was not to a high standard with dusty bedside tables and ledges. The choice of TV stations was limited and there was no room service for food after 10pm
Nice clean room Room was a bit small -
The catering No
The Mirabeau Suite was a nice large room, tastefully furnished with lovely views over the town. The suite had a beautiful big bathroom with a huge tub and plenty of hot water. In reading reviews before I stayed, I did notice a mentions of the bed being "rather soft". If you like a firm bed as I so, this is quite an understatement. The only downside to an otherwise perfect stay.
Nice in in a great little town Beds were not comfortable
The staff were friendly. The staff were not overly helpful, they offered to take my bag upstairs but not really. The room offered toiletries and such but you had to ask for them which seemed a bit stingy. I would have liked slightly better directions to the room.
It was peaceful and quiet and ensured a good night's sleep in a comfortable bed.The self-catering arrangements were good. The rather inadequate and difficult car parking facilities. The provision of a very limited breakfast made the evening before. I would have preferred that the butter provided had been of the wrapped variety rather than bits cut from a block and placed in a dish and the one small pack of jam would have suited me personally had it been marmalade. There were a couple of electrical faults that required attention.
We liked the friendly attitude of the staff and high standard of food. The location in the Derbyshire countryside is great for walking and knowing that you are coming back to comfortable surroundings in the Hotel makes for a good experience. That we could bring our dog is a great plus. There were no adverse points to raise.
Beautiful room with large bed and television. Amazing walks from the hotel - very good guide on the website Forgot the smellies in the bathroom and the coffee. Got the bill wrong.
I loved the view. When i walked in the staff were very warm and welcoming. They made the stay very very nice. Everything was excellent.
Location and restaurant.
Good size rooms and staff very good food good breakfast very good
Comfortable, 'old-english' style hotel with excellent menu and friendly staff. Have already recommended it.
Superb room and good food for 3 Star status
The Maynard was excellent. Staff were incredibly friendly. Room was very clean, with all those extra touches that make a stay special. Nothing - this was a highlight of our trip.
food very good, lovely situation
Quiet relaxing location with great scenery, walks and local attractions close at hand. The Maynard staff from the moment we arrived until our departure were excellent and provided great customer service. The food in the restuarant was first class and excellent value for money. The hotel has a lovely atmosphere, chic but not to posh providing for a very enjoyable stay.
