Pros: Everything was fabulous: extremely friendly hosts, stunning location, beautiful and well-equipped apartment. A picturesque village surrounded by rolling hills, many great places to have a dinner/drink, superb and spacious apartment. Everything a traveller needs for a comfortable stay. I really liked the idea of goodie basket (filled with the English staples, i.e. beans, custard, mint chocolate, porridge oats, cereal bars and more) for which you put few pounds in the honesty box (awesome idea). Beautiful view from the apartment. Truly idyllic place and worth visiting again.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Full of flavour, freshly cooked to order.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We’ve intended to ride the Monsal Cycle Trail for a long time and so we’re more than pleased that when we finally got round to it we chose the Samuel Fox as the base for our two night micro expedition. It’s not easy to define whether it’s primarily a hotel or a restaurant even though it’s still a country inn where the odd cyclist or whatever can pop in for a pint. It certainly doesn’t appear to be a drinker’s pub. Whatever the case, it’s superb. Even before we got there we were impressed by the consideration and attention to detail which the manager, Matthew, extended to us vis a vis the meal arrangements. When we eventually arrived he was attentive, friendly and helpful. He showed us to one of the four similarly furnished rooms and we were impressed by its bright décor and cleanliness. We ate both nights in the restaurant which is comfortable yet quite chic. The small but well thought out menu would have catered for all tastes and the dishes we chose were excellent in every way. They really were very good. It’s not pub grub and the prices justifiably reflected this without being over the top. There’s also a decent wine list. Breakfast was as impressive as the evening meal. It’s fair to say that we’ve rarely come across anywhere that’s ticked all the boxes so well and we’d gladly return or recommend it to anyone. It was a refreshing change and thanks all round.
Cons: There was nothing not to like.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean, comfy bed, great breakfast, gorgeous location, gracious and helpful host
Cons: The WiFi was non existent. The host conceded it was terrible, offering that we might get a signal if we stood near the window. It is possible the problem is limited to our unit, which was the furthest from the router. Nonetheless, because cellular signal is unreliable in Peak District, we were unable to plan our travels or communicate effectively with others - something we had planned to do with our evenings. The TV did not work despite host’s repeated attempts to fix the signal. Although bikes were advertised for hire, they were not available due to weather event out of the hosts control. None the less, the stay was still quite delightful. I would simply warn others that if you are like us, and on an extended trip where you rely on internet to plan, our room wouldn’t be a good choice.

Pros: Bedroom was larger than expected and very comfortable
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location and views from the hotel are outstanding and there won't be many better anywhere in the U.K. The room was very comfortable and the bed was ideal (just what my partner requires with a bad back). The bar has a good selection of beers and spirits and the feel overall is comfortable in a stylish way.
Cons: Unfortunately breakfast was an unmitigated disaster for my partner, when asked what she wanted from the menu pointed at the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and advised the waitress "the scrambled eggs". When they arrived there was no salmon and the eggs tasted as though it was a chopped up omelette. We advised the waitress and expected her to take the plate away and resolve the issue but she disappeared into the kitchen only to return with a ramekin with cold smoked salmon in (which included tail trimmings). This was rectified when we checked out but it put a dampener what was otherwise a very welcome night away.

Pros: Bed very comfortable, staff all extremely welcoming and delicious breakfast.

Cons: Our bathroom was lovely but didn't have a traditional shower.

Pros: The breakfast was excellent and served by really friendly staff. Meals are good filling and tasty we have stayed here several times and are never disappointed. It’s location is excellent.
Cons: We stayed during the heatwave and the staff member we spoke to was great we had a fan in our room but my only suggestion would be please get better fans but other than that there’s nothing we don’t like about the Cheshire Cheese.

Pros: Breakfast great
Cons: room window looked on to a small court yard noise of metal beer barrels '
6.8 Good
Pros: Friendly, quaint.
Cons: I booked a king size bed deluxe room and it was nice. The problem with the Room was the location. Incredibly noisy with traffic from 4.30 in the morning as the cars were only feet from the bedroom windows. Even with closed windows it was still impossible to sleep.

Pros: The breakfast was substantial and hot.
Cons: However, the queue for the slow toaster was a bit of a pain as it was in the way of people at the counter.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Amy the Hostel manager was amazing. I emailed her several times before our booking with different queries, she responded quickly and was really, really helpful. The location was also excellent.
Cons: There were only 2 showers between about 15 ladies... it was ok though a few of us had a 'shower' in the sinks.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was super nice and helpful. Location was excellent and also the cleanness.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Such a great location and the staff was very helpful with tips on what to see and holding bags if you got there before 10am and wanted to leave a bag.
Cons: It is a small staff so reception is closed between 10-5. So if you are hoping for an early check in, it isn’t possible. They do make that clear when booking though and there are picnic tables outside to chill on while you wait.
