Excellent hotel, superior room is beautiful. Nice village, hotel is near the lake Gerardmer. Worth more then 3 stars in our opinion. Owner was very interested in our opinion. Breakfastconcept is ridiculous, standard price is €16,- supplement of €8,- when you want eggs for breakfast. Better have breakfast at a local terrace for €6,-.....
The hotel is in a very nice setting, right by the lake and within reach of the Vosges mountains and beautiful villages like Colmar and Riquewihr. The hotel did not have air conditioning and it was too hot to sleep in the rooms. We couldn't open windows because of the noise outside. We booked a table in the restaurant on the Sunday night after choosing a menu which was displayed. When we arrived, again, the temperature in the restaurant was unbearable and we were told that there was only a buffet. We left, as we wanted waiter service and then had trouble finding a restaurant which was open.Such a shame, our stay could have been so nice.
friendly helpfull staff looked like 5 star when we arrived heated outdoor pool very nice with bar reasonable prices.right in town by bars and restaurants but still quiet at night. seperate w.c. but extractor fan not sufficient so we had toilet smells in the room
The hotel is idealy situated, with good private parking right in the centre of Gerardmer. The rooms were spacious and quiet. The breakfast varied and plentiful, the service excellent. A very enjoyable break.
The location was excellent. Parking was available which was a huge bonus! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. A great visit!
nice hotel, nice location, nice ambience It was mentioned that the hotel would have a fitness room. The small room was located at the swimming pool area and the room also contained the sauna !! Obviously non of the equiment was maintained for years and half of the maschinery was not useable at all. So not usable at all.
Lovely Hotel, all the facilities we wanted. Very hot when we were there and no aircon or fans. Quite uncomfortable sleeping.
Good hotel and fascilities, but rooms a bit run down. Nice bar with friendly staff. Breakfast not great rooms run down a bit, breakfast not great
Friendly, helpful English speaking staff. Good breakfast.
The staff is very helpful and nice. When choosing the type of room we want, I was attracted by the description in booking website that this room is "more spacious than the standard room". In fact, this room should be described as a "family room" with a semi-separate smaller room of two twin beds. So, since we are a couple without children, the extra room/space does not give us any real benefit.
Ideal location near to bars and restaurants. Very clean hotel, large rooms and good value. Breakfast quite expensive but room reasonably priced.
super nice personal, good location, beautiful hotel - everything was just perfect! ;))) we liked everything very much :)
Friendly staff/owners ; nice, honest breakfast although some fresh fruit would have been nice ; some rooms are still to be refurbished/renovated, which is also planned. Due to renovation, the bar was closed. (But Rome was not built in one day either)
Location of this hotel is very good. It is too expensive and the heating system is very poor.
Owners were very pleasant. Hotel is currently being refurbished which meant not all facilties were available. Standard of rooms was good. Lack of facilities (see above).
Very dark and un-welcoming room, although comfortable. Hotel lacked any character and breakfast was a bit disappointing in the variety of food available.
Staff pleasant and helpful Bar + computer access shuts at 9.30pm
The swimmingpool and the emplacement, next to the Lac and near the city. I made the reservervation for one big bed, and there were two smoller. The personnel from the hotel, the recepcionists was all the time rude. All the rest OK.
It was very close to the race I was taking part in and the manager arranged to have breakfast at 6:15 on race day instead of the normal 8-10am which was greatly appreciated. The shower head holder was loose which meant you had to hold the shower head when having a shower. The decor was a little outdated and the carpet on the walls is pretty novel.
The room was excellent value, clean, exactly what i expected, and a good location. If i was confident of arriving before the close of reception i would use this hotel again. I arrived 2 minutes after reception closed at 9:00 and the hotel was in darkness. Fortunately the receptionist was still in the car park and directed me to the location of the key and room details (in another building, also in total darkness, i neverwould have found it by myself), so i would not recommend this hotel unless you are confident of arriving while reception was open. The curtains in the room were very thin which was nice because it meant you could look through them and see an impressive view. It also meant that anyone looking in from outside when the lights were on and the curtains were on can see into the room from the road outside the hotel.
Hotel very well located and friendly staff.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location. Very pleasant hotel.
The Location The hotel manageress was a bit curt, to the point of rudeness. Not far off being like Basil Fawlty.
Reception staff not particularly friendly
Breakfast and main hotel good, staff helpful, garage security good annexe bit basic but functual, bar not allowed to serve drinks and restaurant now closed.
Safe parking There was working going on. The Hotel lighting could have been better. Had a hard time finding it.
the owners are very friendly and discret, i would definitely stay there again on my prochain trip, and they speak english very well
Staff were without exception excellent and the dinner we had was both very good and very good value
Situation is very good because at walking distance of the center of Gerardmer. Good value for your money.
Very enjoyable surroundings, very nice pool, much above the usual hotel standard, good food Price for the 4 person room much too expensive, service at the restaurant a bit slow, especially with young childfre
Excellent food and staff.
good room. very conveniant. quiet you need french
cleanliness of hotel service in restaurant
Clean, comfortable room. Nicely furnished. Friendly and efficient staff.
hotel is located on a noisy street. not what you expect in a holiday (mountain) resort.
Great value for money! Great Breakfast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
very good food / value for money at restaurant
The location overlooking the lake was good. The terrace and lounge areas were very well done, comfortable with a great view. The buffet breakfast was overpriced at 20 Euro per person. We would not expect a luxury hotel to run out of bread at breakfast. Only 3 or 4 tables were taken at breakfast and food was not replenished as it ran out.
This hotel is very nice. The furnishing and decor is attractive. Mr. Valentin (proprietor) takes care of his guests and makes them feel very welcomed. We were there for the StrongmanRun, and he opened his kitchen for us on Sunday night (usually closed for dinner on Sunday). The meal was delicious, and he paired it with a wonderful wine...nice. Thank you, Mr. Valentin. The bed was too firm.
The location is very nice and the rooms were swish & in good condition, but small. Food for two adults could easily cost more than the room rate for a night. They charge additionally for everything including Breakfast and access to the Sauna and Spa. The staff were inconsistent with some very nice and some very angry people.
Beautifully stylish hotel in a beautiful setting. The staff ware very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very good and the bar was very nice. The fitness was brand new and the swimming pool was nice. A refreshing place in the Vosges. At our stay, the spa was malfunctioning and wifi was in repair.
The renovated room & bathroom, the restaurant (ambiance, food, wine), the desk personnel. The bed (too soft), the restaurant personnel.
Lovely, friendly staff who were very helpful bearing in mind our poor grasp of their language. The walls seemed very thin and we could here far too much of our fellow guests toilet habits!! The heating sysyem and bathroom must be due an upgrade although this may be adaquate in a 2* hotel.
The location Having to pay more by booking through the internet !
Good location close to lake front. Good restaurant. Helpful staff. No seperate lounge area
The location was brilliant. The town of Gerardmer is a real treat after having stayed 4 or 5 times in La Bresse. The issue was not the hotel, but the folks that were in the hotel who came back from the casino and were very loud. It is to be expected, the casino is across the street.
Nothing I booked room with lake view...no lake view..the lake was so far away...so we could see the casino instead. Breakfast was gone until 9h00...if you go later you will not find anything. The hotel is very old, everything is old. Restaurant was kind of ok. But the waiter was taking our full beer glasses non stop. You really have to guard your drinks.Forget about spa...swimming pool is small and warm but in the other hotel. For sauna and hammam you have to pay 8-15 euros per room. You could also hear you neighbours. Please have in mind that this is a one star hotel.
Not expensive and well located, the food at the restaurant was good and the staff attentive. Rooms were dated, cramped bathroom, and not a very comfortable bed.
Extremely friendly and helpful hosts; the rooms are new, very clean and extremely spacious. An additional fee of 30 euros was asked for 2 separate beds (for 2 nights). Were not aware of this additional cost until checkout. Without this additional fee I would have given 10/10; now I rate it 8/10.
Best place ever! Brilliant beautiful room combined with perfect service, gourmet restaurant and lovely surroundings. The restaurant alone is an experience - where else you see the cook pick up fresh herbs from the garden several times during the evening?
The owners are excellent and very friendly. The rooms are confortable and clean. We would love to use the common space that is in the hotel to relax in the evening, but it is used as a restaurant (mainly for external guests)and is closed rather early. He had to stay in our rooms.
Outstanding hotel, wonderful location and value for money. Rooms are very comfortable, clean and designed in a posh way. We stay in the hotel for 2 nights and we had 2 breackfast and 2 dinners (both were great). High level of food. All the personnel are very kind and professional. We will return for sure.
Clean, comfortable and very well equiped accomodation, charming owners, excellent cuisine. Breakfast offered no choise, no variety and was rather overpriced for what it was (7 Euros).
The relaxing and friendly atmosphere, great design throughout the hotel, and the quality of the food was very special indeed. Nice furniture in the rooms but unfortunately the wardrobe doors could not be opened and closed properly. Good to have interesting furniture but it needs to function well also.
A family run hotel that exceeded our expectations. The room was warm and comfortable and the meals were exceptional. We would like to stay there again.
The hotel is in a peaceful location in the mountains close to Gerardmer. There was a very friendly welcome, the room was clean and spacious and the food was excellent.
Friendly atmosphere, attentive staff at evening meal and breakfast. (Yes, as someone points out on your website, breakfast was just bread and jam - but that is what you get in France. Good coffee.) My partner (1m78/5foot 10 inches tall) thought bed a bit on the short side as his feet touched the foot board.
friendly atmosphere, peaceful location .. very relaxing
friendly and relaxed atmosphere, beautiful location.
A very pleasant hotel. The owner was friendly (and spoke some English). The food was excellent. The room was nicely furnished and very comfortable. Breakfast at 8:30 - later than preferred. Quilt too small.
Location is good, staff is very welcoming and we got a huge 4 persons room for only the 2 of us!! More windows : )
Close to La Bresse Hohneck Ski area, I would most definately stay again.
the location for a quite relaxing stay was ideal, ideal for hiking or sightseeing the area, very friendly owner who was more than helpfull
There was no sound proofing between the rooms so it was easy to be disturbed by the other rooms.
Location excellent Host very friendly and helpful.Restaurant very good.
The silence... The location was very pleasant. The bed was too short; the lighting in the room was too little; there were no side-bed lamps; no hairdryer; based on other hotels I booked in this same vacation, the price was high.
Clean and spacious rooms, very quiet location yet convenient for the town centre and lake. There was no fresh fruit or cereals for breakfast.
Good welcome from Monsieur when we arrived, with good information about facilities. Lovely decor - modern combined with traditional furnishings. Good on the eye. Lovely sunny breakfast room. None
The location and the rooms the help from the stuff and the breakfast , as was more that poor for the price. Maybe because the language.
comfortable but not luxury, nice breakfast in cosy atmosphere, great service from the owner and his wife. Familyfriendly, homely feeling, fireplace was lit every afternoon. many stairs without an elevator, very small shower
No frills bed and breakfast hotel. Room comfortable, simply furnished and decorated (grey one in pictures). Hotel is not far from the lake or the town centre offering plenty of places to eat out. Pleasant outside pool. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Free motorcycle parking offered in hotel garage.
Super Service :) The family-room was nicely furnished, the pool was warmed and the owners did their very best. Free parking and good location. At least worth off money. Breakfast from the skandinavian point of view was pour or less - as it usually in France is.
Very helpful manager. Excellent rooms, reception area and breakfast room. Good heating and proximity to the lake. Highly recommend this hotel
The room was very nice and the staff was friendly. Facilities were in order. Breakfast could've been a little more varied.
Very nice personnel, good localization and reasonable price. The only small inconvenience was the room size.. a bit too small .. the rest was really OK and I can recommend this place for low budget travellers.
It was good simple hotel. Staff were friendly and nice. Bathroom was surprisingly very small.
Very nice people. They were really helpfull. It's not a big room but that was not important for us. the services also very good. nice cleaned rooms! No
We were close to the city. The staff was really kind and the most important they accept animals at the hotel:)))))
Very cosy hotel, decorated in 'chalet style' but in a fresh and modern way. Set in fantastic scenery. Very good restaurant.
character. view from room.
The alpine ambiance was very welcoming, with collections of wooden objets etc. The restaurant supper was superb. None
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit; the hotel itself is charming in its decor and the staff was very gracious and accommodating. The food was wonderful, beautifully presented - and it was soooo delicious. The scenery, the forests, the mountains and the lakes around the hotel are simply spectacular. We stayed in the junior suite, and it was lovely and very comfortable, and it was well worth the extra rate over a standard room. I wish we could have been able to sit outside on our balcony and still be able to see the view, but the railing and sides of the balcony are high, so when sitting, one cannot see over the railing. A small thing, and it would not keep us from returning.
Friendly and helpful hotel staff, super cuisine, and very comfortable room.
Good setting close to the lake and a quiet setting with a balcony enabling us to use the evening sun for drinks. The bathroom and toilet could do with updating.
The restaurants are both very good they each have their own charm. If you want it more casual lunch or dinner cheaper too the "Toit du Lac" is perfect for you, if you want a gourmet dinner then the "Côté Lac" is the one for you. The service and staff are very friendly and love to do their jobs, both restaurants serve excellent foods and beverages I travel in a wheelchair and booked by E-Mail directly at the Hotel with the same room rate booking.com had given me their "Accessible" room. The room has a very spacious bathroom, but then the "spaciousness" is over the bedroom is really tiny and to turn the weehlchair around I had to use the little entry hall!?! There is no fridge in the room, the television set was basically falling off the wall! During all of our stay the elevator smelled really sour, due to the spa being on the first floor, and even after complaining several times, even to the director the situation did not change, thank goodness I could keep my breath long enough between stops
