The location was fabulous and the atmosphere was charming.
They do not have many parking spots available and we had trouble parking on the premises. Also, I think they are doing renovations and so some areas were not the cleanest.
Luxurious room in unique location (a former monestary). Very close to the Centre of Ghent on quiet street.
Coffee cups and spoons could have been better cleaned. They were sticky.
The old buildings are beautiful and have been well refurbished. Breakfast was really good. But sadly there was no oat or almond milk for the allergies. Many cannot take soy milk any more.
One part of the building doesn' t have a lift which is a real disadvantage for us elderly people. It is the more modern part . Luckily, after we struggled up and down the stairs on the first day, we could move into a room on the ground floor. The showers are good but the floors are dangerous because slippery when wet Imagine us slipping in the shower and breaking our bones! A mat or something of that sort should be provided, or the shower floors should be "roughened up" with material that offers more friction.
The room was just fantastic and the location excellent.
We had a recently renovated room which was a real bonus given we were expecting something very basic from the room pictures we’d seen on the website when we book (NB, these have now been removed, but not yet replaced with new pics.). The main room and the bathroom were very spacious and well decorated. The beds were comfortable, an it was great to have very good reading lights, a good coffee machine and a mini fridge. The monastery/hotel itself is an extraordinary building for a hotel. Reception staff were helpful and friendly.
The lack of anything available to eat in the evening. We stayed on a Sunday night and by the time we got around to wanting to eat, it was raining heavily, we were very tired and something on site would have been most welcome. The breakfast is expensive and as we don’t eat much at that time of day, was not worth paying for, however good it might have been. (We found a great, cheap, small breakfast in the cafe just up the road.)
