very good room, spacious, with my balcony overlooking the river/forest. a bit out of the way, but a travel pass is provided, and I think on the whole worth the extra bit of travel out of Freiburg to have the beautiful surroundings.
Two nigths stay-over on our return trip to DK, excellent restaurant and reasonable prices at the restaurant
Lovely staff and breakfast
Very friendly staff Did not sleep very well because bed was rather small and squeaky
The view from our balcony was terrific! Staff does not speak english, except for one employee who by the way was very nice. The pool closes too early.
Staff very kind, good location
We used the hotel as a base for day trips throughout southern Germany and Switzerland. The hotel was convenient to many wonderful places and a great place to come back to after a long day. The staff was "extremely" helpful and accommodating.
Location was great - used hotel for our base to travel through the Black Forest. Breakfast included in hotel rate. Most of our encounters with staff were positive, however, limited as we were away from hotel touring. Delicious breakfast. Charming small town. Hotel located on main road, easy to find. Sufficient parking. Room comfortable. Beautiful view from our bedroom balcony/deck. No complaints.
Same people didn't speak englich
The hotel was easy to find, and in a lovely little village - central to many Black Forest excursions. Breakfast was wonderful! Our kids enjoyed the indoor pool as well. For a family with younger children, we found the hotel's restaurant to be on the pricey side (but this was true of all the restaurants in the village) - got the impression that it's not really a family hotel, though the staff were very friendly and accommodating.
lovely dining room - proximity to Freiberg no
Nice hotel with parking facility and very good breakfast, wifi-internet access, very nice room
The hotel is quiet and pleasant. The rooms need fans in the warmer season--AC is not necessary, but a fan would have made our stay more comfortable. The staff is very friendly, the hotel is clean and the restaurant is quite nice. No fans in the room, but that's it.
good location , clean , good breakfast No air conditioning - not easy in hot days
Everyhing The food at the restaurant is not good enough
the family, the location everithing was excellent; I only need a refrigerator
Nice hotel looking like a big "chalet". Good rooms and good service. The road next to the hotel is a bit noisy although it does not have a high traffic.
Very nice room with balcony. The food was exelent. Surroundings nice as well.
Courteous professional staff in a family run hotel who made us feel extremely welcome. Excellent food. No.
Incredibly good food, can strongly be recommended. Very nice staff. Large comforable rooms with view of the hills in the Black Forest. Near great sigh seeings.
Very nice hotel, good food and wine and friendly staff
The hotelstaff was very kind, we feld at home
Newly furnished and very clean room with international satellite TV. Friendly staff. Good restaurant. Very good value for money. Only a detail : would have appreciated coffee making facilities in the room.
Very nice Guesthouse, we had a large room with a view on the curch. The restaurant is an excellent value for the money.
it really felt like I was in the black forest.. a wonderful old world country experience. The food was superb and I loved the big fat friendly orange cat. He reminded me of mine. just the fact that it was closed when I came back for a few more days
We were extremely happy with the guesthouse. The innkeeper was very nice and spoke English, which was very helpful since we are from the USA. This is a great place to explore the Black Forest from. Their restaurant was open for dinner and was gourmet, which was a pleasant surprise. The rooms were spacious and clean. We would definitely recommend this location!
A traditional Black Forest timber building festooned with geraniums. Bedroom furniture is painted in traditional Bavarian style. Breakfast was an excellent buffet. Dinner not taken because the restaurant was closed the night we stayed but the owners recommended an excellent local one. The nearby Church clock which one reviewer commented on is silenced during the night.
Nice atmosphere and location. Friendly staff and nice modern rooms with a nice view. Good food (At least the night menu after 22 and breakfast) The church bells in the morning... :)
There were a number of things; the friendliness of the staff, cleanliness of the room, quality of the restaurant. We really enjoyed our stay.
We enjoyed three nights at this excellent hotel. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
People were very kind and the food was really good.
Excellent restaurant. None
Place was nice in the middle of the forest and with a very nice environment. Perfect to someone that has a car and does not care if it is outside the town. The staff was nice and there were restaurant with good food nearby The hotel missed soap in the bathroom, otherwise it was good relation price/quality
Excellent quiet location - set in vineyards on the edge of the forest, yet just a short walk from a popular village centre with tourist info, shops and choice of other places to eat/drink. Beer garden/restaurant terrace has great views over the valley, as do most rooms. Good buffet breakfast. 2 of our 3 rooms were very good - large, airy and light. Good bathrooms with first-rate showers. Our daughter's single room was small and rather dark.
Fantastic country side! Friendly service. Excellent restaurant. Got more then pay!
Very well situated, next to walking trails and very close to centre of Glottertal. Spacious room. Overall a very nice hotel. The only thing was that in the morning the hot water in the shower was erratic.
owners didnt give a damn about foreign guest. Very unhelpful in every way. Made you feel like an intruder
Quiet environment next to the vineyards
Fantastic hotel in a fabulous Black Forest village with wonderful views. Fabulous breakfast with lovely German bread and fresh food. Good sized room, bathroom fine, parking ok despite saying that you have to book. Amazing views, totally peaceful, a hotel definately to go back to. Can be tricky to find as set back from main road, no uk tv channels but you don't really need the tv. Could do with a kettle in the room like uk hotels.
A great hotel, quiet ambiance, beautiful nature and very friendly staff
This is a very pleasant hotel, nice location. Especially noteworthy is the breakfast, which consists of a wonderful display of very tasty items.
A wonderful hotel, everything was very very good!!! Very nice room, very clean, comfortable and furnished in a so pretty style. Good and fresh breakfast, friendly staff. The hotel is also located in a idilliac small town, near to Freiburg, in the Black Forest, ideal to visit them. Fantastic! Dankeshoen! I will come back again surely. Nothing, everything was very very good.
Peaceful setting....perfect for discovering 'The Black Forest Area'. The room (No1) was very comfortable and spacious and very good value for money. We were only passing through but a few more nights would have been very nice. Breakfast was superb and our hostess was delightful I'm unsure whether or not the Hotel Restaurant was open or not, so we ate at a superb hotel just up the road (albeit very expensive)
Located in a quiet village just a few kilometres from Freiburg, Hotel Schlossmühle is an ideal place for a stopover if you don't want the hassle of Freiburg itself. Reasonably priced, the room was spacious, with a large balcony overlooking a babbling brook, and the food was excellent. Parking and internet access were free.
Nice quiet room at the back of the hotel, excellent breakfast and friendly staff.
We had a lovely, very spacious room at the back of the hotel overlooking the little river with not one, but two balconies! The breakfast buffet was very good and the hotel was an old, very attractive, Black Forest style building. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the location. We had thought that we would be staying in a peaceful village in the Black Forest. Yes, it was a type of village but a very, very long one, stretching along the road for quite a way so that there didn't seem to be a real centre. Worse, the road going through (which the hotel was on) was very busy in the mornings and evenings which meant it was quite noisy. German friends of ours who stayed a night at the hotel had a bedroom at the front and said they found it difficult to sleep due to the traffic noise. Obviously this isn't the fault of the hotel but it does mean that we won't be going back again.
Comfortable rooms and a delicious breakfast each day. The restauraunt was also very good. The staff was very accomodating. It helped that some could speak English. The mattresses were hard and a little uncomfortable.
We ate in the hotel in the evening and the food was excellent as was the breakfast. Helpful staff. Probably an unfair comment but we stayed in a heatwave (36C) and our large attic room was very hot.
Clean and big room even such a low price.
Wonderful setting and beautiful room with balcony. Dining terrace beside the stream, quiet and peaceful. Food delicious. No restaurant facility on Wednesday evening but good meal to be enjoyed in nearby hotel.
Good food. Free sauna. Free wifi (must register first). Staff in local dress which gives a cosy atmosfere. Close to the motorway and Freiburg (+-15km). On the picture of the hotel it looks like it's located in the plain quiet countryside. That is not the case. It's right beside the main road with lots a traffic. Luckily the hotel is well sealed against the outside noise. Got a backside room with view on a tree... I'm getting the idea that when you book trough booking.com that hotels will give you the backside rooms with the poorest view. Happened a few times.
The hotel is excellent. The room was nice and very clean. The stuff were very nice.
very nice and quiet location. Renovated room are great. Nice restaurant, nice food. Takes a bit too long time at the restaurant. only german TV channes
The personal attention even at the dinner and breakfast table, the great food, the view, the spacey rooms and the very acceptable price for the arrangement: just wonderful and great personnel!!!
It is located in a farming village outside Freiberg with a forest with walking trails directly behind it. It is a functional clean hotel with a very good restaurant featuring local food and wine. It is probably a little overpriced.
- Room was Clean, Enough Parking places, Restaurant food was excelent, Friendly staff. - Rooms are outdated, Wireless internet doesn't work in the Room, Hot water was cold.
The kindness of the staff was excellent. It appears to be family run with both mom and pop working side by side with the staff and paying careful attention to guests needs. The restaurant was a little pricey but served outstanding food in a charming room.
The attention of the staff was really over standart and the dinner excellent
Everything was fantastic, the room was really nice, breakfast excellent and staff really friendly.I would definately recommend it to everyone.
Good typical black forest cuisine. Most if not all staff spoke excellent English and were very helpful. Pleasant atmosphere throughout. Good position for overnight stay returning to the UK from Austria. Comfortable room. Our room was at the back of the hotel. I would imagine that rooms at the front could be a little noisy, the road was quite busy.
very nice hotel and friendly people.
Everything was excellent. I like it so much. Next time, I will stay at it.
Early check-in was useful and the location was quite good. Reception were friendly and helpful. Room was clean. Quality of the "Comfort" room was poor for the price (especially considering the hotel group running it). Bathroom very old and cramped. The hotel itself was a typical Schwarzwald hotel style but although balconies had flower troughs there were no plants in them (mid-summer) yet all houses and hotels in the vicinity did. Slow service in bar/restuarant. Dinner menu and breakfast choice a bit limited/poor. Hotel rating didn't match reality. Website did not mention trainline runs past hotel.
The peace and quiet, and the extremely courteous and efficient service.
friendly, helpful and considerate staff, a lovely stay and an excellent dinner. n/a
Friendly staff and management and exellent quality of the food We missed a kettle in the room to make our own coffee and or tea
The staff are very friendly, patient and helpful. The food in its restaurant is so far the best we have during our entire 3 weeks holiday in Germany.
The location of the hotel is right on the edge of the Black Forest, which made a hike quite easy to do. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel was perfectly located for our visit - Europa Park, Triberg, and Felburg.
Very efficiently run hotel. The hotel wasn't full while we were there but was somewhat disappointed with our rooms because the balcony had the roof of the function room/kitchen in front of it. Would have preferred a room with an unobstructed view.
Extremely helpful staff; comfortable accommodation; lovely food; excellent location; appreciated the tourist card which allowed us to travel on the train. we will be going back !
Spacious and clean Nothing
Location. Lovely and quiet. Very serene. No dining room. We arrived early evening but could not get a meal.
The hotel is veru nice, clean and located in a beautiful area which is very calm!
Breakfast was excellent. Our room was very big and had a nice view. Hotel staff was also very friendly Room should be better cleaned. We were looking for an earring that had fallen down under the bed and could notice how dirty it was (carpet in the room)
the breakfast in the garden / the sweet under the roof room with panorama to the valley At the end of our first stay we were told by the land lord that we are going to recive another room for the same money but were not told that is no min. resamblance to the first room.On our second stay at the tobererhof we recived a ugly unfriendly huge room with unfriendly furniture , it was 10 pm when we arrived otherwise we were out . .
The room was very clean and the decoration really cozy. The hotel is nicely located and has a nice view of the hill and the vineyards. The bathroom was excellent: clean, with new facilities and spacious. Overall I am very happy for the choice of this hotel, and would definatelly recommend it to friends.
I was a bit apprehensive about the hotel as there wasn't much information about the hotel and Glottertal in general on the Internet. To my relief and pleasant surprise, both the hotel and town did not disappoint me. Great base to explore the Black Forest region and the hotel is really good value for money. The staff are really friendly & helpful too.
A couple of kms from Europa park. Great local food, with good starter salad and a variety of schnitzel. We got a bottle of wine when we left, after 3 nights. :-) Staff could not speak English so well.
We stayed 2 nights to visit Europa park: 2 adults and 2 children. The family room was large and very comfortable. The staff is very helpfull and available. Although we reached the hotel late around 1AM, they were there waiting for us, took time to show us the room and to explain all details. Breakfast was excellent (continental). Only German TV channels available
The staff was extremly helpful and polite at all times. The rooms are very big and nicely decorated. It is a very peaceful hotel and the beds were very comfy :). Breakfast buffet is excellent. The room was clean and the staff was ever so helpful nothing was too much to ask. The location is great too, we didn't spend too much time in the hotel during the day but everything was so quiet. We had a brilliant time and would definitely recommend it to all our friends.
big room.breakfast. no safety-deposit box. no elevator .wireless internet was very expensive.
It was clean and comfortable, ok for one night stay. Hard to find and had almost no English service, or choice of English tv programming. Not much to do in that area.
Very helpful and courteous staff. Extremely generous size of room, with the added bonus of a large balcony. Although we were on a leisure trip this hotel's facilities were very good for corporate hospitality/seminars etc.
First class at reasonable rate. Dining room excellent, food great, service the best in our 6 week trip. Breakfast more than generous.
Good hotel, quiet, nice surrounding, only 15 min from highway
Location is good, facilities are clean and modern, restaurant and the food served there is good. When we arrived back to hotel in the evening, the parking lot outside was full. Maybe a little bit too small.
Although you need to get precise directions as it is quite hard to find, when you get there it has a pleasant restaurant and a very rural setting overlooking a corn field. We stayed in a "Comfort Double room" we thought that it was worthwhile to pay a few extra Euros, so we can't comment on the lower grade rooms, but ours was good. The usual difficulty with hard beds, but that is expected in central and eastern Europe. No aircon., too, so it could be a problem in high summer. The usual difficulty with hard beds, but that is expected in central and eastern Europe. No aircon., too, so it could be a problem in high summer.
it was quiet and very nice to leave the balcony window open at night to sleep in the country side not enought local directions. Thank God for my GPS system
Food and general atmosphere were good and staff helpful
Lovely personel and very good food. The hotel looks like a traditional old German Gästhaus covered with flowers, very nice. The pillows were a bit flat
The resturant was fabulous and so was the service. Our room was spotless and very comfortable with a balcony.
I loved the restaurant, the food was amazing and the staff were very pleasant. It is such a beautiful hotel to stay in! The only thing I did not like was the bed. It was a little too hard, and the pillows werent supportive at all.
The food guesthouse rooms
Sunday breakfast/buffet excellent as there was a tour group staying Saturday night. Not the same quality on Monday morning. Arrived late - not two beds as requested. Charged a totally different price than quoted. Saturday night arrival, Saturday night a bowl of soup in the restaurant. Sunday AM breakfast buffet. Sunday hotel closed completely from 2pm until Monday morning - not safe for emergency to contact them.... no numbers would reach them from Sunday at 2pm until Monday morning. Checked out on Monday and departed. Charged a totally different amount than the first agreed amount for this facility. I would never have paid 90 euro for this facility for two people. Monday breakfast not same as Sunday - left overs from Sunday, no brown bread, ask for boiled eggs. only a few pieces of cheese and very little fruit. UNHAPPY with this facility.
Cleanliness, Breakfast buffet, Restaurant with good food
Quiet and very nice valley in the black forest
Knowledgeable staff. Hotel Personel were very helpful. Told us about travel concessions on public transport for visitors. Coffee making facilities in the room. No
This hotel is situated in one of the prettiest towns we've ever seen. The staff were friendly and we really couldn't ask for anything more. We were sorry we weren't staying there an extra night.
The staff: good advice to visit the Friburg Area.
We liked the location, hospitality, the room. The walks through the wineyards and the hills are enchanting. The hotel does not have a restaurant. Owner was not fully aware of the catering possibilities in the village. I.e he recommended a restaurant which was closed that day, another that was on holiday and the one we at last found ourselves was full and we had to wait approx one hour to be served. An update restaurant list would have solved this.
Friendly and helpful staff. Welcomed my pet and offered if my pet needed anything.
Friendly guesthouse in a nice little town, quite near Freiburg which is reachable through efficient public transport
I'm very often doing business trip, every month arround 2 weeks. This Hotel is really nice serivce and kind attitude.I recommend this Hotel for people.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Traditional german food was excellent
Our host Ludwig was excellent and made us feel at home. Lovely location right in the heart of the Black Forest not too far from Frieburg so easily accessible. Would definitely stay here again.
very friendly staff
Extremely good value for money. Very clean. Spacious rooms and large, renovated bath rooms. Excellent breakfast. Great views over the black forest from the balcony. The restaurant is closed on Mondays, the one day we visited.
The owner and his staff are very good at taking care of any needs you may have.
Central location in the Black Forest, close to Triberg. The half-timber building was beautiful and well kept. The staff was very friendly, even though only one spoke English, which wasn't a problem. The restaurant is highly recommended. They are very generous with food portions and everything was very delicious. The rooms were clean and comfortable with a nice porch lined with flowers. I would definitely stay again.
The owners are very friendly, made us feel very welcomed and at home. The rooms were very nice and clean. We could tell that the owners love what they do. The food in the restaurant was excellent tasting and at an excellent price. Food was homemade - they had the best honey and bratwurst I've ever tasted. There wasn't any soap in the bathroom in the rooms.
Sympathetic staff and atmosphere. Caring and warm people. It feels like you're and old friend while being a new guest. Beds are great!
They were very welcoming
I was met by the Innkeeper Ludwig who was very friendly and welcoming. He spoke very good english and was helpful with my enquiries. Breakfast was plentiful and the Evening meals were good value for money. Simonswald is situated in a beautiful part of the Black Forest and is ideal place to stay for touring the countryside.
Fabulous room, well furnished and quality throughout. Difficult to find somewhere to eat in the evening.
The room was very clean including toilet. Beautiful small town around the hotel. The restaurant near the hotel was very nice for dinner. Breakfast also good!
the gardens were good, a general good feeling surrounds the place, and the views are outstanding... too many steps..
Excelent service, nice scenery with mountains surrounding the hotel, nice garden where the children could play. Ability to buy beverages. A pleasant place to stay.
Haus Sonja is in a lovely village in the Black Forrest only 15 minutes drive from Freiburg. The rooms are spacious, comfortable bed and very nice breakfast.
Beautiful location, very close to Frieburg and some wonderful places to visit. The cleanest rooms I have ever stayed in with very comfortable beds, state of the art bathroom, a balcony over looking a stream. The owners were not intrusive and you were left alone, but they were there if you needed anything Free internet in room.Yummy breakfast and able to make a coffee anytime of the day. More TV channels in English...especially sky news, or BBC Prime.pay per view films, or pay per view TV would be great and would be happy to pay extra...other than that everything was fantastic and would go back tomorrow if I could.
Very accomodating people . Lack of english knowledge .
Warm and helpful housekeeper , nice room , good breakfast The upper room stairs are difficult for lifting luggage. The upper room has no solution for covering side windows - so you wake up early in the morning. Some paper improvisation of the host were unseful.
Beautiful, quiet location well suited for exploring the Black Forest. Nice, clean rooms - enjoyed sitting on the balcony. Friendly, helpful hotel owner. Excellent breakfast included. Would definitely return.
We stayed here because we were going to Europa Park and we booked late and this was the best deal at the last minute. This hotel is 30 minutes away from the park if there is no traffic on the autobahn, but we did enjoy it and breakfast was good. Plus it was very nice. They only speak a little English, but are very friendly and clean.
Very nice room. Reception understaffed.
the rooms are enormous; the restaurant is quite good; excellent breakfast; nice garden; plenty of parking space mosquitoes
Location of hotel and friendliness of villagers.
Staff was very friendly and helpful (spoke German only). Breakfast was good with eggs cooked fresh. Location in Glottertal was excellent; several good restaurants within walking distance. Very quiet, relaxing. I'd recommend it to others. It would be hard to get here and enjoy the area without a car.
Good food at the restaurant
to visit europ park train noisy, no air condition ,Insects from the river
Hotel Ama provided a beatiful escape with a great affordable price near Europa Park. Their beer garden and restaurant is open late every night so that you dont need to rush during the late hours.
The rooms are very nice.
It was close to the centre of the village. Which was very nice. Beds were comfortable. The hotel is next to a train. If you are a good sleeper you don't have to worry about it.
Easy to find
Room was clean, and staff were accomodating and friendly. Convenient parking, and reasonably priced. Room was more basic than expected. Double bed was in fact two twin beds pushed together. Was near a railway line and so if windows were open, it could be quite noisy. No A.C. which would have been useful given that we kept the windows closed to keep out the noise. On plus side, the double glazing was effective at keeping the room quiet.
The food was excellent and the staff was really helpful there was a free computer to use with internet and wireless for laptops .. No.
The hotel is simply wonderful. The rooms look really new, clean and spacious. It is located in a very quiet environment. And the staff is extremely nice. It is really worth the price. Highly recommended.
The facilities, the rooms etc. are brandnew and therefore nice and clean. The place looks quiet, but behind the trees is a main railway. So it could become very noisy from time to time. But we slept very well.
