superb location. nice staff, big room poor breakfast.
It is very close of the lake situated in the main road and has parking The doors are closed at night and if you arrive after 12pm you will have to phone a very nice guy Joel to open the door (poor him!)
We liked the location and the oldness of the hotel. The room view of the lake was splendid. The rooms were very small, and the bathrooms smell bad.
we had a very nice room that was larger and much more elegant than we expected for the money - a cut above other rooms! breakfast was dreadful - not at all worth the money. orange jiuce wasn't juice, coffee came out of a self service machine and tasted horrible, hardly anything to eat - I would only recommend this hotel if you pay more for the lakeside view and larger room
Good price, beautiful view of the lake from our room and private balcony. The interior was a little over the top. And the "hot breakfast" was only server for a couple of hours in the morning.
excellent English breakfast, free parking nearby without security. BIG room and romantic lake view. 2 min to the Pier. wonderful with those who like Lake and leisure far away from City. It's a big hotel so there are a lot of crowdy group tour
Very comfortable rooms and lounge areas, though very ornate. Ideally situated for Lake Como and the cross lake ferry service with wonderful access to the lake side and the few shops wine bars etc. Especially attractive at night looking across the lake. The staff were very polite and helpful Wasn't very impressed with the evening meal but the breakfast buffet service was excellent with a very wide choice on offer and of good quality, run very efficiently for the size of the hotel which is huge.
Very nice atmosphere. Excellent location. Very courteous and professional service ----
off season price -breakfast included.
close to the local activities.
We really enjoyed the family friendly atmosphere, the view to the mountains and the wonderful host family. I think the website showed and old picture of the view which is now obscured by another buidling. When we arrived there was a strong odour a bit like a curry had been cooked in the kitchen but the smell permeated throughout. These are not big issues but obviously the only things we could find fault with. It was really a very pleasant stay.
it was quiet and relaxing and comfortable and very clean I expected a better view from balcony
Lovely location, friendly locals, nice to have freedom of the appartment. Although the owner was able to get to us quickly it was not immediately obvious that we had to telephone her on arrival which was irritating after 12 hours in a car. Also, although there were notices to tell us to put rubbish in the correct bins and not to leave air con on when out, there were no details asd to where the bins were or how to control the air con (which, incidently tipped water out all over one of our bags with no warning). The appartment vwas lovely but was obviously not cleaned thoroughly between visits.......though this did not mar our enjoyment of Bellagio.
We left after one night. We were most unhappy with this establishment and will not be recommending it to anyone. This is not a hotel!!
The hotel is close to the lake and in one of the best parts of lake Como. So we could come back to the hotel during the day so that kids can have some rest. They should put some basic stuff in the kitchen like sugar and salt and dishwashing liquid.
The view and the facilities.
Stunning Views. Very clean apartments. Pool was a bit too chilly for me.
A beautiful location, quiet and peaceful. Helpful staff and spacious rooms. Off-street parking. It would be good to have basic items like soap, detergent, sugar, etc. available. These are available in most hotels and apartments.
We were very late but the staff were excellent and very helpful
The staff were very friendly, the apartment was spacious and well equipped. The pool was a nice size and the lake view was absolutely beautiful. There were so many rules to adhere to written all over the place, we had to check out by 9am on a Sunday (in the rule book it stated we would be charged 70 Euros per hour for staying later)!!
excellent location and view, comfortable, friendly staff. had to pay extra for linen, gas, would be easier if it would be included in a price.
the view from the room was amazing the room was good, but there was not an elevator and no facilities enough at the room.the swimming pool was told to be heather and it wasn't,and there were nobody at front desk al the time
The family who holds the residence is very very warm and welcoming. The apartment was brand new, clean and had a great view on the lake of Como. There is nothing to criticize about this place.
Room was very clean and fully equipped, staff was very helpful, great view. While the room was supposed to fit 6, there are 2 double beds and 1 single one, which would make things hard for the 6th guest.
It was wonderful. Clean, comfortable, good food, reasonable prices, helpful staff, lot of parking space. It is a relaxing choice.
The hotel was lovely and clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. There was a wedding dinner taking place whilst we were there but it didn't disturb us one bit, because we were far enough away from the dining room.
Good location, good view, quiet, friendly staff. Close to a lot of beautiful scenery. We wanted to stay longer. Close to Lake Como, Lago Maggiore, Lake Locarno, Bellagio, etc. Maybe too remote for some, sort of far out in the country, But as noted above, close enough to see the beautiful area by car.
clean and spacious rooms
The warmth of the staff and the good food No directions for the heating and we didn't realise that we could control the heating through the aircon so we were much colder than we needed to be.
location is the best thing about this place. very small rooms.
the room seems new it was clean and comfort. to room was far from the parking with no elevator . the water Pressure were very low you couldn't take a shower
The hotel is nice, friendly stuff,We enjoyed staying there.
Very charming, family run traditional Italian hotel. Straight away we were greeted with a very warm welcome, which was extended throughout the stay. The lady who's name illudes me (but literal translation was 'peaceful dove'), was one of the friendliest people we encountered on our tour of Italy. The charming pool area with splendid backdrop makes for a relaxing setting. The coffee at breakfast was very nice. No lake view, but with all day spent at the lakes, the mountain views were welcomed! The breakfast room was cladded in net curtains, please open them, let some natural light in and let you're guests enjoy the splendid views (I think in the height of summer you could probably sit out on terrace for breakfast).
proximity to Lake Como for an affordable price with breakfast included. Great family hotel in a beautiful location. Great pool
Room was tidy and looked gorgeous. Loved the blacony and the views. We came by bus and it couldn't have been easier to find because it was opposite the bus stop. The staff were excellent, very friendly, welcoming and considerate. It's in a near perfect location and I would love to visit again and would certainly recomend it to anyone! There aren't any bad points except that we didn't stay longer! :-)
Very friendly and helpfull owner, great little pub attached, the rooms deserve a higher rating, the views from the windows and balcony are stunning.
Very clean rooms, new furniture. Breakfast ok. Good staff . A little far from the turistic points. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel, but only 01 bus line (each 40-6omin). Not many facilities (restaurants, banks, laundry nearby)
Although it's not very big, but it offers everything we needed, including air-con, breakfast. Nice hotel!
very clean and brand new. breakfast room is not good. It is look like storage..
breakfast good,and service. poor heating
nice spacy rooms, nice pool aera, good breakfast (apart from the ghastly coffee) would be nice to have a frige in the room, rather expensive for the comforts offered
Cappuccinos were very delicious and breakfast offering good,,,maybe more fresh fruits. The Sonenga is away from the Piazza, has a charming up hill hike taking 15 minutes, thus it is very quite being in a residential neighborhood unlike in Menaggio. Room was very comfortable with a beautiful hardwood floor. Employees offered to do our laundry on site for a reasonable price.
One employee made all the difference. The rest was terrible. Owner/operator's attitude & lack of understanding of customer service, furniture quality (old and the cheapest possible), building quality (very poor with the cheapest materials possible), soundproofing (noisy), location and stated claims for views (which were non-existent). Price was comperable to a 4 star hotel, however, I would rank the hotel 2 star.
Beautiful view of the lake from the room balcony, proximity to the town, easy parking, nice bathroom Breakfast wasn;t great, a bit basic and dull. Also a lot of noise from adjoining room and below.
Friendliness of staff. Breakfast was pretty good. Room very good as we were given view of lake. That we were not told that there was a 1km walk up hill to get to the hotel. OK for us but the elderly would not be able to manage it. There was no heating overnight.
The room was comfortable. The location was quite a way uphill from the town centre so at night a taxi or car is a must as the way back to the hotel is poorly lit.
Very good value for money. Easy accessible from the ferry. Good view. Very helpfull staff. Nice breakfast area.
Beautiful balcony view; quiet area A 25-30 minute hike up a steep hill from Menaggio - definitely need a car. We needed to pay a fee for parking. A 5 euro charge for sauna use.
Hotel location in Menaggio was rather good. Although the hotel was away from the centre, you can easily walk there. The hotel breakfast was nice and breakfast room very nice. Bathroom was from the 70s and it was really small and not so handy. Rather big ant population also stayed at the same room with us!
Location, facilities, room I was very unhappy with the service I received at the beach bar
The Hotel looks very nice from the outside. Furthermore its situated in Tremmezo which close to a lot of nice place like Belaggio, etc.. The reception staff is very friendly and helpfull. The rooms need a lot off refurbishing, its not looked after for a long time. Also the rooms are very noisy, you can hear everything what happens next and above you. The waiters aren’t what you would expect for a 5 star hotel. Long waiting times for drinks and food. They don’t seem to enjoy serving you or answering question. The food and drinks are extremely pricy. I have stayed in many 5 star hotels but this is definitely overpriced. Also the waiters and many other staff don’t speak english. Not a problem when you stay in a 3 or 4 star hotel. It can be charming in the begging that they don’t speak English but i would prefer they would speak English
Wonderful location, great service, excellent food, elegant hotel
Grand style of decorations, yet very comfortable, No
Fantastic old style hotel with great facilites and great staff. Just about the best location on the Lake Como with great views over the lake and Bellagio. Bad Internet service and ridicoulous to pay extra given the EUR 500+ daily room cost
free internet access
great place, would highly recommend one of the finest hotels in italy i have benn too. none
This place is fantastic. The day spa is superb and service tops
Very nice location and facilities. outlook from restaurants and bars over the lake very impressive. Nothing in particular.
the view of the lake
Amazing view of lake como from the balcony. We are already planning our trip back there to stay in this hotel. Easy to get to town Not so keen on the breakfast so after the first day we went to town for breakfast. Not suitable for less mobile people who dont have a car - it is a 10 minute or so walk down a steep hill to the town.
View, accueil, spacious room, location No shower curtain
Excellent location and view to the lake. Nice and serviceminded staff. Nice swimmingpool on the back of the hotel.
The stunning lake view from the fourth floor; plentiful parking, beautiful hotel; clean, comfortable, good bathroom; dining on site with a good breakfast; close to town centre; refreshing walk to ferries with short and lovely rides to Varenna and Bellagio; enough restaurant options. I think Menaggio is the best place to stay on Lake Como. No.
A very warm welcome, staff offered great assistance with directions for our further travels by car and train. We were delighted and our stay was a most pleasant experience in this elegant hotel.
The old world charm and the excellent personal service from general manager
Nice location, good staff, nice atmopsphere Pure breakfest and expensive scramble egs, old furniture in rooms
friendly staff. It was a nice, old fashioned, hotel - with old fashioned standards of courtesy and care. By modern standards, the bedroom was 'tired' - noisy air con, not enough room to sit and read.
Our room overlooking Lake Como was very comfotable and the staff and waiters were most courteous. No
the view from the room and friendly service there was only a hand held shower attachment and bath not a wall mounted shower
The personal attention & service, kitchen was good 'Playroom' for children would be great (TV, table football, biljart). Bathroom was good but a little bit oldfashioned, but might be a result part of the art nouveau style.
The hotel staff was very accommodating. I asked if they could find the Venice marathon on TV and they found it. They massage person was willing to stay late to fit me in. The staff in the fitness center was very helpful. The bed turn down in the evening could have left a piece of chocolate or something
Limited and costly use of the Internet or Wi-fi
One of the top hotels in the world. Every aspect of the stay was excellent.
The only good thing about this hotel in all honesty was the location in Bellagio. First of all this is a rather pricey place. That is fine if the hotel is worth it. 5 * this is not, I can't even push to a 4 *. This was supposed to be the best hotel in Bellagio so we chose to stay here for our friends' wedding in Varena. The hotel staff was cranky - not a smile on anyone there, if you ever could find someone! I felt like I was in the movie The Shining. The hotel was very depressing, really in need of renovation. It smelled old and musty-- there were lace doilies with plants throughout the hotel -- I felt like we were staying with Grandma! Electric outlets in our room didn't work, nor did the safe. Every noise could be heard in the hotel, doors slamming, echoes. I do not recommend you stay here.
We have stayed at the Villa Serbelloni three times and have enjoyed the elegance, romantic ambiance and comfortable rooms. The food was excellent in both dining rooms and the service excellent. The concierge gave us good information. We were also given an upgrade....great. there is nothing we did not enjoy about the hotel.
We were made to feel so special and nothing was ever to much for the wonderful staff
Gorgeous hotel in a beautiful Italian lakeside town - spectacular setting, beautiful gardens - hard to get to but worth it - rooms and hotel kept very clean - crisp linen bedding - Concierge very helpful with car rental, day trip to visit nearby villa, dinner reservations etc. - delicious buffet breakfast Didnt realize Bellagio was so far north - hard to get to as you have to navigate along a steep, narrow, winding road - We did not know that you could take a car ferry from Como which would have made things a lot easier - However, the hotel was beautiful
Wery fine hotell, service at top, good orchestra every night. One of the best 5 star hotel.
Mistral restaurant, quality of room, location and view; pool and lake swimming; access to ferries to wide range of destinations. The sommelier at Mistral was outstanding, as was all the service there. Our room (park view) was superb, spacious, elegant and had a balcony. The outdoor cafe - under the pergola - had much poorer service and value than any other part of the hotel and was disappointing.
Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni did a fantastic job of taking care of us - very comfortable room, welcoming staff, and wonderful facilities. They were great with greeting you by name, suggestions on activities and arranging dining reservations. It didn't matter if you pulled up in a Bentley or not ( we didn't)
Staff very eager to please Sadly our well behaved dog was restricted to room and non-public areas. He was welcome in the village terrace bars and surely could have been also welcome in the hotel casual terrace bar. We can find hotels more accepting of dogs. Hence my non-recommendation below.
The staff was excellent. Everyone was very cheerful, helpful, and attentive. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel is very easy to find and centrally located in the main square. It was warm so we kept our windows open. The nearby church bells startled us awake a couple of times and the noise from the road and the bar across the street was a little loud on Fridays nights (Italians do like to stay out late - why I love Italy). I'd recommend perhaps adding ceiling fans to the rooms and guests could keep the window closed? Once the windows are closed the rooms are fairly quiet. Luckily we're night owls so it wasn't much of problem.
Brightness of room, super clean, location great, steps away from excellent restaurants and walk to boat. Staff super nice. The bed was a little bowed, and therefore somewhat uncomfortable.
clean, big room, reduced price at the adjacent restaurant the view, quite expensive (price-quality rate), reservations were unknown with staff at arrival, arrival before 7 pm
Room very spacious, and very functional kitchen. Great central location. We had two separate studio apartments, with a central lobby that was very convenient Only one of the studios had a toaster
It was easy to locate, comfortable and very comfortable na
The atmosphere from the time of welcome was caring. The Hotel was clean and a pleasure to stay in. The lakeside setting was idyllic. Not a thing.
The staff was very helpful in planning our daily itinerary to visit the Lake Como area including a side-trip to Lugano, Switzerland.
The view I thought this hotel was expensive and it was quite shabby. There is no outside space to relax and parking was difficult. No air conditioning or fridge. It was very noisy from the road and other guests.
Genuinely lovely owners and staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. They were most helpful with advice and suggestions of places to see. This beautiful location is also close to buses and ferries.
Great place to stay with reasonable rates. Staff is very personable and helpful in directing their guests to places of interest and dining.
We slept one night. Family hotel with excellent location on the lake. Room clean and large. Rooms with lake view can be a bit noisy because of the road between the hotel and the lake. Small parking place available. The beds are not very long...your feet might come out.
Family run Owners speak perfect English Overlooks lake with parking Restaurant closed Mondays
Very nice and helpful staff. Everybody spoke English. Old hotel, but very clean and has amazing views of the lake. Also, has a nice little restaurant.
Very good service from the staff and the breakfast was good.
The owners were fabulous and really helped personalize our stay. Their recommendations of sights to see and restaurants to go to made our visit exceptional. It truly enabled us to enjoy a very cultured experience.
Easy atmosphere, well run, well staffed and overall very friendly place to go to. None.
Nice hotel right on Lake Como, easy walk to Villa Carlotta and Villa Barbianello. TV needs to be updated and more English speaking channels. no wifi in room.
The staff was excellent and very helpful. The room was clean and very comfortable. Parking was free. Breakfast was good. Excellent location. It should be known that there are additional costs for lake views, this information was not available at the time of the booking. Also that full board was available and what was the cost of this option.
The hotel has an excellent location on Lake Lario (Como) with easy access to water taxi services
The lake view is spectacular. The beds were not very good. Creaky and thin mattress.
The staff are helpful, but not too intrusive. The location is fantastic and it's great to have the pool as I'd certainly never swim in the lake! The rooms are a bit sparsely furnished which makes it feel a bit cold.
location, lake view small television in the room
This hotel was the best....the staff always going the extra mile to help you...the view is breathtaking...the breakfast was delicious and varied. Best hotel in Italy in our trip.
Very helpful and pleasent staff Nice large room with comfortable bed excellent location for ferry. Poor breakfast for a 4* hotel power bath and shower did not work properly Air conditioning did not work properly
It's not as touristy as the other cities on lake como. It was very easy to get around since the ferry is literally right outside the hotel steps. T The wifi was terrible. This seems to be the case for most of Europe, but it as quite frustrating since that was our main means of getting around.
This hotel is in a beautiful setting, right on Lake Como, with the Ferry adjacent! A wonderful place to relax and breathe!
Breakfast was good, yet served in a room away from the spectacular lake view which was a bit puzzling since that view is what they promote on their website as a selling feature. Bed was very hard and pillows thin and hard - I was glad we were only booked for 1 night on it. Given the star rating of the hotel, the bathroom toiletries & paper supplies were very cheap compared to other similarly rated hotels we stayed in this same trip.
Staying in a room with a balcony overlooking Lake Como. The hotel staff was reticent to recommend restaurants aside from their own.
A great position, get a lake facing view
It has a good location and must have been a lovely hotel in its day. The hotel is old and dated. It was expensive and yet the carpets need to be replaced, the hairdrier was brocken, bed linen was a bit shabby.
The view from our room and location It is old and needs major updates, parking is difficult
The location and the view of the hotel was fascinating. The city of Varenna is a really nice place. The stuff of the hotel were very nice and friendly (especially the receptionist). The room was poor and old furnished, equiped (e.g. old TV set), however it was clean and the common areas of the hotel was beautiful. Because of the quality of the room we think the hotel does not reach the 4 stars.
Location, fantastic view from the room, friendly and clean Room was gloomy, bathroom was small and shower was tiny.breakfast fruits were not ripe.
Beautiful view of lake and mountains. The hotel felt old but very luxurious. The room and bathroom were huge and very comfortable. Parking was scarce.
The location was great and the view from our room could not have been better.
Varenna is a beautiful place and hotel location is perfect This is the most overpriced hotel we ever stayed in. Poor service, hotel facilities and our room, very limited breakfast were not worth the money we payed.
Nice elagant old stile hotel with beutifull position and panorama. Excelent service in restaurant, fine kitchen. Also the open pool can be enjoyed if the wheather not fantastic. Not very update bathroom
it's a nice hotel - nice view, easily accessible 1) odour in the room and certain parts of the hotel 2) no internet connection/WiFi in rooms - need to go to the lobby to gain internet access
The setting was beautiful, and the view from our window was stunning. The staff on the front desk and elsewhere lacked charm and were even rude on occasion.
The location and view were very nice. Our room was filthy upon arrival. They did not compensate for this and have not responded to my email to them about this.
I stayed in a few places around Lake Como and this one was one of the most comfortable and friendly. A very relaxed atmosphere and very helpful staff. I would stay again and recommend anyone to stay here. There wasn't as much to do in Menaggio itself as some of the other mid lake locations but it was right next to the boat stop so easy to do day trips from here.
Staff very pleasant, views very good from rooms. Bar situated next door open till 4am quite noisy if you want quiet then may not be the hotel for you.
Very good view of Lake Como It is a stuffy place for old Europeans, mostly British, who come in large Groups
very satisfactory but we only stayed one night so cannot give a complete view. v.good breakfast!
Location - At 8:30 am there was no water. Breakfast closing time is 10:00 am, considering it was Saturday but at 9:30 am there wasn´t enough food and the service was acting as pushing us to finish soon. They let us feel that they were in a hurry. Very uncomfortable. The air conditioning was not working, when I ask they said " it's starting the Autumn season and the weather is cool so we turn it off. I couldn't sleep because the room was hot or at least not fresh enough.
Good location, excellent view of Bellagio. Old fashioned television. Bad selection of channels. Need more English channels Wall insulation is not good. You could hear the people next door talking.
