The Front Desk staff is fantastic. They were very helpful, friendly and efficient, checking in throughout our stay to make sure we were making the most out of our trip. Even if the hotel is far from downtown, the views are great and it's relatively easy to get to the funicular that drops you downtown. We had stayed here before and really like the old-town vibe throughout.
We had stayed here before, and it felt as if there has been no maintenance to the facilities since. The rooms are run down, curtain rods were broken, furniture and carpets were stained, the TV in one of the rooms did not work and it was not fixed during stay. The washroom setting is grand and the hardware interesting, but it's also in need of repair, as faucets were loose and leaking. The two times we had breakfast, service was very slow, taking us close to two hours for the meal, as the staff was nowhere to be found throughout. We also came down for breakfast around 10.00a on a Sunday and the buffet was not ready yet, we had to go all the way into the kitchen to find someone to help us. The place has a prime spot and incredible potential, but it definitely needs some maintenance/renovations.
Amazing views over the city, staff were great and the food was delicious.
The rooms are a little tired, but I think it adds to the charm and rustic feel of the place. Could do with a pool on the property.
It took a long time to check in. There was only one guy at the front desk to help us with the check in. He doesn’t speak English. Even though I already showed him the receipt that I paid online for the stay, but he still keep using the translator to tell me pay the fee. Eventually he gave up, and decided to show us the room. First, he took us to a room with only one bed. Then I told him I booked a double room. He left for couple minutes then come back. Bring us to the double room. He left again and finally find the right key for the room. The place and the hotel is totally wonderful, it’s just the check in experience is so bad. Don’t know why he ask me to pay again.
We liked the great view from the hotel, the room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable, most staff were friendly.
Firstly, during our 3-day stay, there was no running water for one whole afternoon and evening at first time, then next day no water for few hours as second time. We were told the water is coming but it turned out not to be true, we were very disappointed by the reception staff. Secondly, there were 2 scorpions in the room. I know we were in Mexico, but we are also talking about a 5-star Hotel listed here. Staff didn’t speak English, except for one waitress in the restaurant.
Only the view
The service, the scruffy accommodation, little interest in being helpful, pedantic accounting systems
