The breakfast was good, although mostly the same every day. Traditional.small dishes, rice, a burner with a assorted vegetables on top, and furikake.
There was no WiFi in my room. I don't think that's appropriate these days, even in a classic ryokan.
Food at breakfast was ａｍａｚｉｎｇｌｙ ｇｏｏｄ
No toilets in room but shared by all
The Onsen! Especially my family members who had never experienced one nattural, in Da House onsen!
It would have been easier that the host had provided the information about the relief from the station to the hotel. On google it say "20 min" however, google does not tell us how steep it is. So, the host knowing it would be nice to recommend us taking a taxi considering it's not an expensive ride. Also, the host could have informed me when I asked if the Gora train station had lockers, of luggage storage facility, that it indeed has one. This perhaps is something the host can list on their already existing nice list of FAQ! ;-)
What a beautiful experience in a traditional ryokan! it's family managed, and a bit old, so don't expect luxury...but it's "real", and the food, wow, the food was so tasty and great! We spent 4 nights there, from Wednesday to Sunday, and the first 2 nights we were the only guests. The onsen is simple but nice, with a great view on the garden and mountains, and we were the only ones using is...private onsen, a bonus ;) The room was simple, big enough for our family of 4 (2 adults + a 3yo + a 8mo), with futon beds and some storage space, and a fridge. Owners were super nice, we could communicate enough in a basic English. Easy to get to the place using the cable car, and nice walk down the hill to Gora (steepy, but we managed to do it with a stroller, so nothing too crazy). So many attractions close by! I definitely suggest to have dinner in the property as the food was tasty and abundant.
the light in the room at 4:30 am!! some blockout curtains would be appreciated. The building is a bit old, some renovations needed, but it was still cozy
Small, no-frills accomodation in Hakone. Large, clean rooms with amazing naturally-fed volcanic onsen in house.
