The surrounding area was great. Completely immersed in nature. The room was big enough in the bedroom area (tatami) and lounge area, but a little bit small on the toilet part. Really enjoyed the onsen as well and the buffet dinner and breakfast.
The price is a little bit high considering the final experience.
The staff was quite nice with us. The food was ok. But that was all...
My partner and I spend more than 500 dollars for two nights, we were expecting a quality, confortable and clean hotel, but we received the opposite. If you see this comment and you book this hotel, you are at least warned from what you will get. It is a non-renovated hotel since at least 50 years, the room smell strong and the bathroom is a disaster. The food at the hotel is everydays the same.. we think that they re-use the same left over from the other days to save money. The onsen (hot water bath) are non hygienic at all! I tought I was going to get ill or have an infection after going there.. The bed were dirty when we arrived, we had to ask to change the sheet, and at the end we slept without it just to think about the bedbugs inside. We slept with our closes on.. Anyway: DO NOT GO THERE!!!
Hot spring was fantastic! We loved the simple Japanese style room too.
Quality of food was a littl bit disappointing, but again whole experience was very authentic Japanese Ryokan experience and we really enjoyed their hot spring.
The place is a joke. Stop smoking in the rooms. And up date the whole place.
The Manager Masahiro Abe was v competent & dealt with our concerns well. Ryokan style room good size and inane use was included. Location far fr Hakone Yumoto and reliant on shuttle buses and taxis after 6.45pm
Lack of alternative after arrival meant we chose the hotels buffet - at Y4000 each plus Tax it was overpriced as v limited supply of sashimi or sushi.
