You get what you pay for Room smelled Carpet was kind of gross
It was a pit
We were harassed by the proprietor who wanted to know if we were going to be sharing a bed. How is this a relevant question to ask someone using your hotel. Also the door to the room was unlocked when we got to it, and it would not lock for us. We had to get said proprietor to show him it would not lock, because he didn't believe us. Additionally, the chain lock on the inside of the door was long enough that even with it in place, I was able, from the outside, to unhook the chain and open the door. When we asked for a different room, he gave us a different key, so that we could actually lock the door. Why were we not given a working key to begin with!? Because this hotel is a roadside inn, where there is no barrier between you and the highway just outside, except for the door to your room, it was a very unsettling experience.
Nothing. Dirty, depressing, the worst. Avoid at all costs.
Location The room was disgusting. I was afraid to take my shoes off. It was dark, dingy, and had a strange odor; the room had only one tiny window. My boyfriend and I ended up being the only guests at the motel, with the exception of the belligerent drunk we met while checking in who has apparently been living there for 3 months. There's not much surrounding the motel, so once the sun went down, it just felt kind of creepy with no one there and the drunk weirdo staying 2 rooms down from us.
Helpful inn keeper, bed comfortable, thoughtful selection of pillow, clean towels and bedding Although the place is run down, it is as clean as an old place can be. It is dingy and you might want to leave your shoes on, but it was a comfortable place to sleep.
The price for the room was excellent . The staff was friendly and informative. The location right off of 91 was very conveminet. No lobby to watch television while the family is sleeping and no breakfast .
Fantastic experience! For the rate of 75.00 a night, it was perfect. Husband and 7 year old son were on a small Getaway from CT. Pool was clean, room as well. Staff very friendly. No issues at all, would stay there again!
Pool was great for children.
Pool hours. Only 9am - 9:30pm Too close to expressway. Loud at night if your room is in the back.
Comfortable beds and pillows, relatively quiet in room. When a room change was requested, it was provided quickly and the new room was in great shape. First room we were given (#141) smelled very strongly of dogs. The A/C was running constantly and we were chilly, so we turned that off and the smell worsened significantly. Requested and were given a new room. Also, fan in bathroom and variable fan control in room would be really nice.
Room and staff were excellent no food service except for breakfast
New, clean, friendly, organized, the wifi in the room even worked. The design made it look like they'd done some surveys and found out what annoys travelers and fixed them: no hard corner of the bed to stub your toe on, plenty of power outlets including a built-in power strip, etc. I honestly can't think of anything.
Well located, clean and nicely presented, the facilities at Fairfield Inn are very good. The cost is a bit on the high side but there are few quality choices nearby,
Hotel was entirely adequate for our needs (one night stay) and seems to be well maintained. It was clean and the full breakfast was pretty good. It's a good value! Staff was very nice. The rooms are a bit small but not ridiculously so.
The bed was super comfortable. Also, I was worried that it would be noisy because the room was right near the elevator and ice machine, but it was quite sound-proof. Great shower, too!
Terrible internet (too slow to even watch YouTube's videos), bad was not really comfortable, and too manies layers on the bad. Rest good
The staff was friendly Poor management of rowdy guests. The third floor was like a frat house. When I called at 2:am to complain the desk clerk just chalked it up to homecoming weekend at UMass. Also the sheets didn't fit the bed which didn't fit the box spring mattress.
40-50 dollars less than anything else in the area. Has everything you could expect from a budget hotel and then some. Bed was surprising comfortable and the place was pretty clean. Continental breakfast was decent. Good size fridge in the room. AC/heat control worked fine and was easy to adjust, which is rare in my experience. Location is pretty much in the middle of a parking lot. Guy working at the front desk was dressed kind of sloppy with the top few buttons of his shirt undone. But it was a pretty hot day, so I get it.
The room was clean comfortable and served its purpose. We just had an overnight stay between zip line and white water rafting at Zoar. I didn't like people smoking outside the building
If you're spending time in both Northampton and Amherst, the Econo Lodge is about equidistant between both, although its location is nothing special -- in front of a Wal Mart, grocery store and others. It's clean, not noisy, has a small pool and the staff is friendly and efficient. Completely charmless, and it needs some updating. My wife and I joked about a "round-screen" TV in the room, which seems about 15 years old. There was paint peeling on the bathroom ceiling. There's nothing that can be done about being located in front of strip shopping center and a storage facility, but keeping the place up to date would help.
Value cleanliness Nothing
Free breakfast curtains had cigarette holes, bed spread torn
It was exactly what we needed for a short stay. The facilities are a bit outdated, but we didn't need much. A good price and a great stay.
Fine for an overnight stay. Price was great and Amherst is beautiful. Old smell to the Libby and room.
No frills but good at what it does Rooms could've been cleaner
Location Breakfast choices were very average
Staff very unhelpful
Bed was comfortable, clean room, helpful staff. AC was so noisy had to turn it off to sleep - made for a hot, uncomfortable room overall. Pull out couch/bed was thin and very uncomfortable - son preferred the floor. Also, extra blankets were scratchy and low quality.
Rooms dirty Awful customer service
The staff was more than friendly, the beds were uber comfortable with so many fluffly pillows, continental breakfast was delicious, the room was clean, wifi was fast and accessible and did I mention the staff was amazing. No tissues in the room!
Location is ideal - you can walk everywhere. Hotel has good vibe. Get a room with a balcony in the main hotel - you can see what's going on in Northampton. Hotel is a big pricey but parking is free and you don't need to drive to good restaurants. Continental breakfast is included but we're addicted to the 'Downtown' at Jake's restaurant Last time we got a room in the Residential Cottages which is not part of the hotel. It's in the middle of the parking lot and you feel that. Room was big with kitchenette but didn't like it.
I had booked a room with a queen size bed, but they must have upgraded me to a king size. The room was very nice and spacious with a large bathroom and some very nice amenities; bathrobes, ironing board and iron. Nice continental breakfast with the price of the room in a lovely dining room. After check out we were allowed to leave our car in the parking lot for the rest of the day for some downtown Christmas shopping. I look forward to staying here again. There was nothing that I didn't like.
You can walk anywhere in Northampton from this hotel. It was built in the 1920's so has a lot of charm but it's been updated. Room on high floor with balcony is best. Free parking. Jake's for great breakfast is right across the street. Rooms can be noisy - don't get room near elevator or stairs otherwise it's fine.
This area of the hotel really needs work. The menu needs to expanded to cater to chicken. It was really slow both at the restaurant and room service.
Very good location with lots of New England charm and ambiance. Very comfortable bed and an ample size room. Good continental breakfast was included in the price. I was awakened by a loud group of intoxicated people after midnight. I felt like I was back in my college dorm days; very annoying! I'm sure that someone called from my floor before I did as the disturbance ended after about 15 minutes. I complained to the manager the next morning who knocked 20 bucks off my bill of 200. I don't think that was enough for the hassle of being woken up from a dead sleep, especially from a luxury hotel. Needless to say, I don't think I'll ever stay there again.
walking distance to university and town.
This hotel is dog friendly centrally located. The rooms are standard for a two star hotel, so I wasn't surprised or disappointed in that sense. For me this place was hands down an unfortunate experience. First, they shouldn't advertise "free internet" because it doesn't reach all rooms. I wasn't able to get a connection ALL night. The work I needed to complete was on my Ipad and it doesn't have wifi, so that was a total bust. It also would have been nice if the clerk had told me the office would be closed at night. It was unfortunate that I locked myself out of my room at this place. Without a cell phone the only thing I could do is walk down to the corner store and beg to use their phone. The number listed was for a HJ in Hadley. There wasn't anyone free to come help me out, but Jamal offered to send a cab and put me up in their hotel for the night. Thanks Jamal!! Out of desperation (my dog's food and all my money was in my hotel) I scaled the wall and broke into my room. Yes, it was crazy easy to break into my own hotel room. Good news if you're a dumbass and lock yourself out, bad news if you don't want to get robbed or worse. This place is a two star hotel, so I wasn't expecting anything special.
The location on campus is amazing. Our room looked south over the main campus, including the library and chapel. There's a student commons on the ground floor - recently remodeled - which has food, coffee and a campus store. The interior is nicely decorated and looks more modern than the outside. There's no way to sugar coat it: the building is hideously ugly from the outside; it looks like a Soviet-era apartment block.
