10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good food and service.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Property location
Cons: Breakfast
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The meals, the service and the view from room.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The outdoor public onsen overseeing the ocean is excellent. Traditional Japanese meals inside the room, big meals with a serving lady present. Friendly staffs.
Cons: Couple free private onsens on the rooftop are quite small and without indoor changing rooms. There's a free private indoor family onsen with an indoor changing room yet without the ocean view. However there're couple onsen suites available at a charge. The overall dining experience was positive and interesting. I just didn't know how to deal with the odour left after having the meals inside the room. I opened the windows to let fresh air in (plus listening to the sound of the wave), only to find myself invited an unpleasant guest, Mr. Mosquito, who disturbed my sleep.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very delicious seafoods served in dinner and breakfast.
Cons: Would be better if some room equipped with private hot spring bath.
8.3 Excellent
Cons: I enjoyed its stay comfortable and nice ocean view from my room. Ar for dinner and breakfast dishes are too much. Delishas but too much dishes , then better for adjusting the price. Thank you,
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Top quality seafood and meals served in spacious and comfortable room. Lovely sea view onsen. Excellent omotenashi.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff was exceptional! The English speaking members were incredibly helpful and kind and went far beyond the expected to help us find places to enjoy in the area. The food was wonderful. The setting peaceful and lovely sea views and close to local highlights. So glad we chose the Hotel Hamanoyu. We highly recommend.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was fabulous. A real pleasure. Our Japanese-style room was beautiful and comfortable with a fantastic sea view and a most amazing private onsen built from stone by the owner’s grandfather. The staff were outstanding. Very welcoming and helpful. Shiraishi-san, who looked after us, was absolutely delightful. The breakfasts were spectacular and the kaiseki dinner was one of the best meals we have ever eaten anywhere in the world. We have come away feeling completely relaxed and very lucky to have had this experience. I would highly recommend this ryokan.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Exceptional view from the room even when using in room spring bath. Just not very use to the shower head but can get along with it. Due to the location the hotel staff has arrange to pick us up from Okawa station. All staff are very nice during the stay. Finally the dinner and breakfast is a surprise to the visit. Around 9-10 courses of dinner and more than 10 small dishes combined with main. On top of that they taste good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything. Very friendly and helpful staff beautiful place and great outdoor onsen. Food was delicious and beautifully arranged. Service on highest standard. Thank you!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The private room onsens are beautiful and convenient, but we also really enjoyed privately using the larger onsens at night. Great for those who want the onsen experience without having to bathe with strangers.
Cons: The futons weren't very comfortable to sleep on. We both woke up with aches in our back and it hurt to sleep on our sides. However, a dip in the onsen relieved the pain.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: You can enjoy the sea view from your room tub! And both dinner and breakfast were so great. All the sashimi were fresh and sweet.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location: Well, you are not here for sightseeing. There are good hiking spots around. Service: They would go above and beyond for you, and always with a smile. Cleanliness: AAA class, like most of Japan. Room: HUGE bed with an amazing private Onsen and an outdoor shower. Bed: HUGE! WIFI: Fast! Food: We took the dinner and breakfast, since there isn't much to eat around the place. It was a wonderful experience (with a lot of fish, so be prepared). And above all, they went the extra mile for my Vegan wife.
Cons: Nothing!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room, the food, the private onsens, the friendly staff and locals and the breathtaking scenery.
Cons: Nothing. A traditional ryokan with little English that perhaps is not for everyone. Bedding is futon. Functional and comfortable
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The service is really good. People here are kind and friendly, there are also free shuttle bus to use. You can enjoy the sea view from the bedroom. The hot springs are comfortable and you can choose outdoor ones and indoor ones, both are free.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The service was beyond excellent. There was always a staff member who could speak enough English with me that I was very comfortable. The onsen baths are amazing. Each one a little different and unique. The food was so fresh and creative and beautiful and delicious. Thank you for a great experience and a window into the Japanese culture.
Cons: I wish the app would have given the option to book dinner on my first night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The traditional Ryokan was excellent. We had booked two nights but had to cancel the second night due 6o typhoon Hagibis and they were very accommodating. The place was clean and the hot baths amazing. It's a shame we didn't get more nights here and to enjoy the seafood dinner.
Cons: Nothing

7.1 Good
Pros: The staff was very kind and the shuttle service super handy. The hot spring on the balcony and the bedroom were amazing
Cons: We found two cockroaches in the bedroom on the evening we arrived. The WiFi network poorly covered the bedroom and the balcony. A full blind on the balcony could allow for nice showers outside given that there aren't showers inside

Cons: Unfortuntly the staff not speak in English but kindly giro evry request

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The service is excellent! More than we can expect! Onsen is real natural one. Food is awesome! Never had anything better, it was a smart choice to book the dinner and breakfast in the package!
Cons: The room is a little bit bright at night, some windows are the paper shades, not dark enough for sensible sleepers.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Their food is why we keep coming back. Absolute feast
Cons: We love everything
7.9 Good
Pros: The food is amazing, very abundant in seafood and beautifully presented. Service was exceptional and the hot springs were lovely especially the outdoor rainforest one, being able to book private sessions is a bonus.
Cons: The Ryokan is situated in a somewhat tired and rundown town, there isn’t much to do in the area and the ryokan is right next to the train station so there is no view or grounds to explore.
4.6 Okay
Pros: The hotel is a little run down, but clean and and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast was nice, but not served in the room.
Cons: There is literally nothing around the hotel. The town is very run down. This is my 3rd time in Japan and we encountered the worst costumer service in Japan, or simply anywhere around the world. We had trouble with our credit card payment, and the lady at the front desk gave us the biggest attitude ever. Her attitude changed 180 degrees in a second, after we tried twice and both failed - from all smiling, bowing, to refuse to say anything to us and it looked like she was genuinely disgusted by us. I'm still shocked till today that someone can do that. It turned out to be their credit card machine's problem, because I made a big purchase right after leaving and it worked perfectly. But even if it is our credit card's problem, NO ONE should never react that way. It was simply unacceptable. People always mention Japanese people have this "fake nice", and this is the first time I experienced it. I did not spend $800 dollar there to receive their attitude like this. It literally ruined my trip to Japan and made me question the entire country as a whole. Because of this experience, I don't plan to go visit Japan in the next couple of years at least.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We had room with privat bath. Food was brilliant.
7.5 Good
Pros: A bit old but the onsen and sand bath are good
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The food! I can skip lunch and have only breakfast and dinner here! So many of them and all delicious. Located near Izu-atagawa station.
Cons: Musty smell in room

7.1 Good
Pros: good...location good
Cons: bath water could be a little bit hotter
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We loved the dinner and breakfast, mainly Japanese mixed with a little western taste. The food was fresh especially the fish. The quality of the food was outstanding and the quantity was sufficient. The onsen, both indoor and outdoor, was excellent. The staff were great. They were friendly, cheerful and informative, and we appreciated their hospitality. Our room was facing the ocean. We arrived at 17:30 and missed the sunset view but were compensated with a stunning sunrise view. We had a morning stroll along the concrete path right below the hotel and the view was magnificent. Highly recommended.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything is perfect. We had a cozy vacation at here.
7.5 Good
Pros: They prepare really good breakfast and dinner. It was fantastic and the view from the room was amazing.
Cons: The building is old so the structure of the room was not practical.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Despite being an area with many fewer English speakers than in areas like Kyoto and Tokyo, the staff did their utmost to make sure we had every bit of information we needed. All of the staff, whether reception, cleaning staff, or anyone in between, were amazingly polite and courteous. The room was large and the futons were extremely comfy (and neither of us had a particularly comfortable experience with futons in the ryokan from our last trip). The public baths were super spacious, and the outdoor baths in particular were amazing on a cold winter night. The amenities in the women's side of the dressing room area were extensive, with all manner of skin and hair products to choose from. In general the room and bathroom were clean and beautifully presented. Wifi in the room was strong and fast.
Cons: Not a "negative" exactly, as we were handed a few sheets of paper with some basic information about the hotel when we checked in, but having an English version of the information in the big book in the room would be helpful next time.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent sights and hot springs Breakfast is also very good
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Almost everything! Staffs are really friendly and helpful. We were late to reach but did gave them a call beforehand and there's a shuttle waiting for us at the station! Love that they have a bath that we can reserve for private use.
Cons: Only the overall room n place a bit old and dated but gave a very traditional feel to it. Location is a bit out of the place with nothing much in the surrounding within walking distance. So just stay in and relax!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The outdoor onsen by the sea is definitely the highlight! I really like the game room too! And of course, the food was fabulous!
Cons: N/A
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It is a very nice hotel especially for the outdoor onsen by the sea. Food both dinner and breakfast is fantastic.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff was excellent with great service. Clear explanations given by staff during check in. The onsen opposite of the hotel was fantastic, facing the sea. Dinner was delicious with all u can eat tempura. Breakfast was Japanese type n the grilled fish was delicious. Room is big n sea view , able to see sunset n sunrise. We enjoyed staying in this hotel n will recommend to friends
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: None
6.7 Good
Pros: The private Onsen
Cons: There is no elevator, the room was old and the waiters forgot some details (first day wet napkin, second day sticks...)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was a wonderful stay! The tatami room comfortable with full length windows that opened up for the sea breeze and sound of the waves. The facilities bit old but we found it quaint and charming. Lovely onsens including one by the sea and option to use Caren (sister hotel 30 seconds away by free shuttle) onsen for fee. The breakfast and dinner selection generous and fresh. Good taste but nothing to rave about. Lunch choices limited - bento provided by hotel and there’s a small donburi (rice bowl) place couple minutes down the road along with a local conbini slightly further down (so we could pick up coffee, snacks and beer). We felt warmly welcomed and looked after. A relaxing place to unwind and step away from Tokyo bustle.
