Pros: Great experience. Excellent stay. Great dinner.
Cons: Electricity went off at 6pm so we had no electricity for the rest of our stay.
Pros: Sameera was an excellent guide and naturalist and found all my target species like leopard and bear despite the bad weather, and he and his team provided exceptional service all round.
Pros: Everything inside the camp and the safari!
Cons: Nothing to complain, except the description of the direction could be improved by adding a signboard.
Pros: Amazing kind staff, great hospitality. We did the half day morning safari and felt so incredibly lucky that we saw two leopards as well as many other animals and reptiles! Clean tent & sheets!
Cons: not completely sealed in the bathroom as there was lots of insects in there! There was also a couple of lizards in the tent!
Pros: We stayed as a young couple for 2 nights and absolutely loved it. The staff was very friendly and the way they have served dinner and afternoon tea was very cute and they have put a lot of effort in. The tent was practical, the bed has white sheets and it’s in general spacious enough. We booked the full day safari and it was absolutely amazing! We saw elephants, different kind of deers, buffalos etc and we were happy enough to see leopards. Which was probably one of the most amazing experiences we ever had. We can definitely advise the Big Game Camp to you as it exceeded our expectations by miles.
Pros: Great place. Eco lodge, even in the weather and limited time we got to see a Leopard in the rain. Staff couldn’t be more helpful or attentive. We got to make our own traditional breakfast dhal for breakfast with the chef, in essence a private cooking class considering it was just the two of us. Great stay, would come back.
Pros: Great place to stay
Pros: The service was excellent and the food aswell. Very nice welcoming and dinner by the fireplace. The personnel was really trained to make you feel comfortable. It gave us the feeling of an expensive hotel but in a camp instead.
Cons: Everything was excellent considering, that we were sleeping in tents (bigger tents with electricity and an own bathroom).
Pros: Very eco friendly and natural setting
Cons: Poor singage to find the property
Situated in Nochchiyagama, this tentalow is within 6 mi (10 km) of Nochchiyagama Grand Mosque, Nochchiyagama District Hospital, and Wilpattu National Park. Thambuttegama Hospital and Mirisawetiya Stupa are also within 20 mi (32 km).
Pros: Outstanding personal service, very clean and safe tents which is sealed. Geartfull candlelight dinner outside by the fireplace, great safari - saw many different animals including leopard (3 times on 3 drives) Our naturalist was excellent, we learned so much from him. The camp manager gave us a lot of interesting information on the company and their mission and also Sri Lanka as a whole.
Pros: Good location and away from city life
Cons: There is no lady attendant , no phone, no toothbrush packet or tea cattle
Pros: Tents were the definition of glamping. Staff was fantastic.
Pros: Simply, wow! Food was amazing, staff incredibly attentive, tent was luxurious and comfortable. Safari driver and guide were incredibly knowledgeable. Would return here in a heartbeat..... And we were lucky enough to see a leopard and a sloth bear
Pros: The food was AH-MAZING! Can't fault it. The chefs really know how to cook tasty food and we were not left hungry. There was plenty to eat and they catered so well to my two year old as well. The safari tent was great. The space inside was amazing. It can get a little hot in there during the day but that's expected given the location- at night, the temperature drops and it is quite nice. The candles were lit when we got home from our safari which was a nice little ambient touch. Cannot fault the facilities/food and staff and TOTALLY worth the money. Dinner and a bonfire was a favourite of mine underneath the stars with my fiance + son.
Cons: We didn't organise a driver to our next stop Anunradhpura, so our host organised it for us. It cost us $40 USD which seemed a bit excessive for a 30 minute drive. We were told that there were no other drivers around and it was too late to arrange something else. We were told later by another local driver- that accommodations get a commission on the driver's bookings. Not sure if this is what happened but it was the most expensive journey for us in Sri Lanka for such a short trip.
Set in Nochchiyagama, Wilpattu Holiday Home offers a garden. The accommodation offers a 24-hour front desk, airport transfers, room service and free WiFi throughout the property. All guest rooms feature a private bathroom with a bidet and free toiletries. An Asian breakfast is available every morning at the resort. Anuradhapura is 33 km from Wilpattu Holiday Home.
Pros: Such a wonderful place out in nature. Loved staying in our own little "hut" You could bird watch right from your room or take long walks in the area. We saw peacocks and hornbills and even had a monitor lizard at our window. The air conditioning was fantastic. The electric strip in the room came in so handy in charging cameras and phones. We have never seen this anywhere else but what a perfect amenity! When you travel you are always looking for more electric outlets. Amazing hospitality with fresh coconut water or fresh squeezed juice when we had been gone for the day. They owner even arranged a safari for us at a pretty reasonable price. He also arranged a driver to take us to our next location in Ilandiya at a reasonable price. Enjoyed the breakfast each morning and though we didn't eat every dinner here the one we did have was delicious and hearty.
Cons: No complaints.
Pros: Food was super and calm environment to stay. Bandara the caretaker was soo friendly and very helpful. This is really nice place to stay.
Pros: Situation close to Willpattu NP Very nice staff (thanks Barran and Yashan) Nice dinner Beautiful area
Cons: Small room
Pros: The host was very friendly and surprised us with fresh drinks like a fresh coconut or a watermelon juice. He organized a fullday-safari for us - the driver was friendly and had a good eye for the animals. Also dinner and breakfast were delicious. We enjoyed our short stay there and would recommend it!
Pros: Near to Wilpattu National Park entrance
Cons: Host is a cheater! Took a 1:1 exchange rate Dollar-Euro and 18 EUR (6 EUR per person for 2 adults and a child!!) for the dinner (which was okay, but first not exceptional and second not much). Accomodation looks much more appealing on the photos than it is in reality. Bathroom didn't look clean.
Pros: Perfectly located for Safari in Wilpattu National Park. Host made us a huge lunch package for a reasonable price, also packed breakfast for the Safari. He arranges Safaris for his guests also. (Which we unfourtunately didn't book, because we had already booked "the same for better price" via our taxi driver. "Better price" was true, but "the same" meant 8 hours safari (minus 1 hour break) instead of 12 hours, what is the usual length for full day tours. After that we booked everything directly at the accommodations we stayed in for the rest of our trip around Sri Lanka and never had a bad experience doing that. They always try their best to get the guests satisfied.)
Cons: Only stayed one night - arrived late and got up early, so there wasn't much time finding something to complain about ;-)
Pros: The hotel had amazing food. Dinner is a must!
Cons: Although very friendly and attentive to guests' needs, the staff could be a little less stressful.
Pros: Perfect reeled Garden location, the birds at dawn and dusk and superb. The proximity to the park. Comfy bed. Cold shower with lots of water.
Cons: There was no WiFi at the property despite our staying so on the booking, considering the cost we needed to have WiFi to research the park, jeeps and location. Disappointed tbh. We were offered a jeep by the staff, which was expensive. We declined. We also declined to food - at six dollars for a box of rice and curry this is extortion locally. When we declined both, the whole atmosphere of our welcome changed. TAKE A LOCAL BUS FROM THE JUNCTION FOR FOUR KM TO THE NEAREST TOWN, CURRY RICE 150 LKR ($0.90), which is the norm on most of Sri Lanka. We booked a keep for a better price and more hours from the place next door. On the morning at 6am when we went to stay the trip, the owner/staff from Vilpatu Holiday Home has taken ahold of our keep driver /good by the sorry and stayed to hit him. This is UNACCEPTABLE behaviour and as such our experience of the place was tainted. We did some washing one afternoon and hung out of to dry. When we came home, a fire had been lit right next to our washing and plastic bottles were burning. Simply a bit childish tbh. There is a cafe opposite the home where we chose to take our breakfast and cup of tea, on the last day of appeared as though the owner of Vilapatu was talking to the cafe lady owner and telling her to charge us more money on our bill. FREEDOM OF CHOICE is a basic human right. We have NEVER seen this type of ambivilance toward tourists /travellers on 3.5 years of travel. The home is amazing but the crassness really put us off, if this isn't sorted out soon then the reputation will be ruined here for sure. I really liked the guy, but my guess is that it is so highly competetive in the region that this type of exhibition is probably more common than its known. For the record, our choice of jeep and driver were excellent, 11/10.

Cons: Not possible to reach the place without a 4wheel car, but it’s not really a problem as they can pick you up at the main road.
Pros: Eveything was PERFECT! Peaceful, cozy and surrounded by jungle! Couldn't ask for more! Food was amaaaazing!

Pros: It was close to wilpattu with all the facilities we were looking for. They were kind enough to pack our breakfast and lunch by 5.30am bcoz we were about to have a full day inside wilpattu NP.
Cons: Water pressure in the shower was very low. Very difficult to have a shower after a dusty day inside the wilpattu National park. Also the pool cleaners had used too much chlorine as most of the residue sits at the bottom of the pool and its very slippery and slimy. Staff needs to watch that Chlorine.
Cons: No plug point to charge at least phone.
Pros: The staff were very hospitable, was very willing to give me Dinner instead of Breakfast the next morning. We enjoyed the meal as well
