Old Camp is located in Kangerlussuaq. A roundtrip airport shuttle is complimentary (available 24 hours).
Pros: A converted military accommodation by the airport. Functional and fine
Cons: Arranged an airport pickup. Reconfirmed by email when flight changed. Nobody there and had to walk (c 2km) When I arrived and met a staff member he shrugged and said there was no pickup and that I should have gone to their airport office. They have no airport office. They ask you to participate in their cleaning by leaving used bedlinen outside the door. This is fine but at the prices they charge it’s a bit much.
Pros: Lovely staff, lovely places, very easy to go on tour. Amazing place overall
Pros: Rooms are small but that's enough for two people, beds are very comfortable and the heating system works very well -- we even had to open a window. The staff working at the reception/souvenir shop are very friendly and helpful. There is a free transfer from the airport (ask in advance) and a scheduled transfer to the airport (on 9 AM every day). The distance from the town and airport is walkable and very scenic. Old Camp is located in a perfect spot to enjoy the northern lights -- you can see almost 360° panorama and the display, if the weather conditions allow it, is mesmerizing.
Cons: Showers need a bit of repairment. Breakfast consists of only cold meals -- no porridge, scrambled eggs or something like that.
Pros: The room was comfortable and the breakfast was good. The showers were excellent, and despite the number of guests there was always one free when I wanted.
Cons: The price was extremely expensive for what is essentially a hostel - I wouldn't usually expect to pay over £100 a night and have to make my own bed. The main problem though was the noise - the walls were extremely thin and we were kept up a lot of the night by children crying / running up and down / generally being noisy, as well as noise from other guests.
Pros: The staff organises transfert to the airport and pickup to all excursions on request.
Pros: All was good
Cons: All good
Pros: Comfortable beds
Cons: Only paid WiFi, located in the middle of nowhere (no shops/bars/restaurants in the walking distance), old facilities, very basic breakfast.
Pros: Nice and clean and good breakfast
Pros: Hostel located approx. 2.5 km from the airport. A free transfer from the airport is on request according to your arrival but from the hostel to the airport only in the morning at 9 o'clock. At other times you can get by bus on a working day at 13, 14, 15, 16 and 18 o’clock, on Saturdays runs only a few buses in the morning and nothing runs on Sundays. Only taxi remains for around 60-80 DKK or walk on foot for 25-30 minutes. Breakfast in hours 7-9 am, basic but good, different types of bread, cheese, jam, cereal. Coffee and tea available in the kitchen throughout the day. The kitchen includes everything you need with lots of free-to-use things. The whole hostel is clean and warm, several shared bathrooms with toilet and shower. Small rooms, quite narrow beds, a small wardrobe, a hanger, a table, good lighting, a night lamp at each bed. On the windows there is a mosquito net for insects. Paid Internet, 30 min - 30 dkk, 120 min - 90 dkk, good signal. There is a shop on the premises (open until 16:00) with souvenirs, drinks and sweets. It is also worth signing up for various trips organized by Old Camp, there is a large selection of them on different days and at different times. I recommend to use the experienced guides of Albatros Arctic Circle.
Cons: No vending mashine, check-out at 9 o'clock - too early, free transfer to airport only at 9 o'clock morning
