10.0 Excellent
Pros: Was very clean and and beautifully decorated with flowers in and around the house. Staff was very friendly as well as the host. We were served with three different kinds of homemade jams everyday at breakfast and while leaving we also asked to buy some of it and the host was very happy to give us. She got us in touch with guides for horse riding trek as well as a jeep tour.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place was brilliant ! The eating area was bright and gorgeous rustic design. The owners wife was wonderful. Tea/coffee and water are available at all times. Breakfast was included in the room and consisted of a few types of bread, eggs made to order, cheese, meats, salad, fruit selection, delicious jams. Our room was a decent size, spotlessly clean and bright. The beds were awesome, Very comfortable as were the pillows. The shower had lots of hot water. They supplied shampoo & conditioner and soap. I really loved this place and would highly recommend it.
Cons: Loved everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: As is obvious from the exceptionally high reviewal score from all travelers - this place is perfect! Location, ambience, cleanliness, and all the little things that make a stay wonderful that escape easy categorization. Sipping a (free) coffee atop their rooftop terrace encircled by mountains is bliss (and the breakfasts are as tasty as they are beautiful).

7.9 Good
Pros: Washing machine (needed). The staff that was so helpful too. Good location to walk the city. We found people to do the dungan family dinner tour and visit Sunday morning animal market with, so good place to meet up with people. Others found hiking buddies.
Cons: Room is right by the dining room /social area and court yard so it gets noisy. No curtains to really block out light so no sleeping in. Anyway you wake up the moment someone makes themselves breakfast. Toilets didn't always have toilet paper and showers are either missing shower head holders or drainage cover so pick wisely ;)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hostel is in a good location for getting to the main bits of Karakol, plus they have lots of information about hikes etc out of the city. Staff were friendly, the beds were comfy and the bathroom was clean with plenty of hot water.
Cons: No complaints!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great facilities Good location Lovely staff Helpful information
Cons: Can be loud at night time with other guests talking in the shared area
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything - super friendly and helpful staff, clean bathrooms and showers, good wifi, lockers & bag storage, and a well stocked kitchen so you can cook anything you need. They also have information about treks, marshrutkas, etc. posted at the hostel. We ended up staying here three times (in both a dorm and 2 bed private) in September and will stay again if we return to Karakol!
Cons: Everything was great!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Probably one of the best small hostels in central Asia. The hostel is run very professionally. Everything is very clean and there are plenty of toilets/showers, so there's never any queues. Hot water and strong pressure! Some basic information available about hikes but best to go to the tourist information centre for most up to date info, and there's lots of interesting travellers all the time to share tips and stories. Hostel is cozy and very comfortable to relax after a long hike.
Cons: Laundry was quite expensive! Avoid going out at night as the walk back is very quiet and feels a bit unsafe.
6.3 Good
Pros: Wifi, bathrooms, kitchen, available staff with gpod command of english.
Cons: Atmosphere was a bit too quiet. Staff bossing like it was a teenager pensionat. Clean for this reason but detrimental for the vibe.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Helpful friendly staff
Cons: Its a hostel so can be pretty noisy if you want to sleep early for a trek, even in the private room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Tolle Hiking-Trip at the board.
Cons: All was good.

Pros: Eldar runs a great hostel. Loved my time here!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very new and clean hostel. Eldar is a supernice host, he can help you organize all kinds of good-value trips (horseback riding, skiing, para-gliding, transport..) you want to do around karakol. He also has travel guides and maps and can help with advice for your further travels. We especially enjoyed the nice and clean, sex seperated bathrooms with floorheating and very hot showers! The tents have comfortable mattresses and warm blankets and every tent has its own pair of sockets right outside. The location is good, close to the bus-station, animal market and the bazaar. A supermarket is a 5 min walk away and you can easily walk to the city center in 10 min. Thank you Eldar for the great time we had in Karakol, we certainly will come again!
Cons: No, everything was perfect :)
6.3 Good
Pros: The owner is friendly and helpful.
Cons: The house is cold, they didn’t put on the heater. No good isolation, you hear everybody and one room doesn’t even has a door! Kitchen ok but people leave it quite dirty and all over are leftovers. The sink is in the same room as the showers, you can look through the showers,it is female and male though.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Adler and his son are the nicest and most helpful people in all kyrgyzstan!! For setting up treks, and good restaurant locations, and info about Kyrgyzstan culture / government, this is the place for any solo or group travelers!! ❄

Pros: Super kind and helpful owner. He helped us with planning a hinking tour and did a reservation for us in the guesthouse in the Altynarashan Valley. The place is nice and clean. There is a big community area and kitchen with everything you need.
Cons: There is no heating in the kitchen and living room (or at least it didn't work) so it was extremely cold there (October).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent place with a home-like atmosphere, extremely helpful and knowledgeable owner, super clean. Highly recommended.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Stayed in the indoor tent area. Was actually quite comfy. Common area really spacious and good for hanging out with other travellers
Cons: The tents got really hot at night and felt a bit like a sauna if you didn't open up the flap.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly place with a big shared area and kitchen, very helpful owner who was always available for questions or help.
Cons: -
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Its a quirky place with a tent dorm and what I would describe as tiki bar out the back. I booked a private room and it was excellent. Very clean and warm, I was there in Oct. Communication with the owner was excellent and he help arrange a bike hire last minute. Checkin was weird as I was the only person staying that night and there was nobody there to let me in. I just figured it out. That said, two friends of the owner did show up later and were more than helpful and friendly. Including me in a few drinks to finish out the night.
Cons: This is more of a comment than something I did not like. The property is about 2 km from the centre of town and at night it is dark walking back. Not really a problem as the town has a safe feeling about it and the locals are friendly.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The property opened in July 2017, is well situated at Karakol (easy accessible). Room, comfort, cleaning were ok. It is a small scale hotel (not many rooms), the atmosphere was nice and calm (a lot of wood was used for the construction). Great breakfast (eggs/pancakes freshly bakened upon request, cheese, meat, jams, honey, coffee or tea,....). Friendly service. At evening, we often used the common room (breakfast room), and mostly we had it for ourselves (games, books, maps, even a good quality guitar at your disposal). The manager spoke fluent English, so (for once) no communication problems in Kyrgyzstan. Nice sauna at the property! Lots of adventurous possibilities around (horse riding, hiking, hot springs...). We would definitely stay here again.
Cons: Everything was great. We all enjoyed our stay here and the relaxed atmosphere.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very Nice hotel. Clean room. Nice staff. Good atmosphere. Breakfast good. Little outside from the City center, near the Mountains - we enjoyed it a lot. Takes 5-10 min Walk to the center
Cons: Breakfast maybe a little slow to serve eggs, but nice and tasty.

Pros: Superclean hostel, nice people, good breakfast! Ideal place to stay!!
7.9 Good
Pros: Room + bathroom are brand new and very clean. Staff speaks English and is almost available 24/24. We didn't try it, but there's a Russian sauna available (for 1500 som)!
Cons: A bit further away from the city center (no issue if you come by car). We did not take breakfast, as it seemed not too special.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best accommodation we had in Kyrgyzstan. Comfortable, clean, new, well equipped, fantastic breakfast... And the most helpful and nicest people. They helped us with our transportation and taxis, booked restaurants, kept our luggage while we were away to the mountains, etc. It was a real pleasure to enjoy some conversations with them too. When I'm back to Karakol, I'm definitely staying with them again. We had a really great time there!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Both male (Azammat) and female (sorry did not get her name) helhed in everyway and made our trip a pleasure and difficulty free one
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: The guesthouse is run by a very nice family. Especially Askar is a very nice and hospitable host who made sure that we had a wonderful stay. We originally booked one night but stayed for three nights instead. Two before and one after our 3-day hiking tour. While we were away, it was possible to leave our rental car as well as our suitcases safely at the guesthouse. Breakfast was great. We would recommend this guesthouse greatly - it has been our nicest stay in Kyrgyzstan so far and we would definitely come back and stay with Askar again!

Cons: Only one shared toiletroom for 5 or 6 rooms.
5.8 Okay
Cons: Bathroom supposed to be private, but unfortunately it was common. Heating system is not working when temperature is ~ 5 degrees. We need to ask for remote heater. Breakfast in mountain cities should be more valuable than pancakes. For all day trekking it is not enough.. Place rather out of center.

Cons: Nothing I didn't particularly like. I was cramped in the shower. Maybe she could hire someone to help her if her business booms. I think it's a chicken or egg situation. Perhaps if booking.com can lead more people her way?
5.8 Okay
Pros: We had high hopes after reading all the good reviews. We have seen some different places in Kyrgyzstan. Unfortunately only the shower and bathroom were okay. The lady was nice, spoke a tiny bit of English.
Cons: The breakfast limited and just plain bad: carbs only, eggs drenched in oil, no fruit and veggies. The room and facilities all feel worn down and the pictures of the nice hallway were not in line with the the actual stay. Not recommended.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The host was very warm and attentive. The place was quite lovely and cozy, the hotel was near some good restaurants. I enjoyed the food (sausage, eggs, blini)
Cons: The shower was cramped for me, the first room we were presented looked quite small (but the beds were big and they looked comfortable). Ms. Ludmilla was lovely and attentive, but she seemed to be doing a lot of work, I can imagine she'd have problems if all the rooms were full.
7.9 Good
Pros: EniRest is a great location to plan and start a hike - we could even leave parts of our baggage while trekking for three days. The owner and her son are really friendly and make you feel like home. The rooms are clean.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Enirest. Ludmilla, the owner, and her son are most lovable and saw to our every need. Upon check-out, Ludmilla even gave us a traditional kyrgyz hat and shawl as a parting gift. The room itself was spacious and clean and seemed to share its bathroom only with the landlord, which was a plus. The overall atmosphere at the hotel was also very nice as the building was nicely decorated and breakfast in the morning - with a variety of sweet and savory choices - was marvelous.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and friendly lady managing the place

Pros: Perfecto !!! We felt like were in Italy for one night.. dinner is a must ! :) thank you Memo !
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner Memo was very hospitable, gave many useful advises and created very friendly home atmosphere! It’s really small part of Italy in Karakol - rooms, food, design! Definitely will book it again if go to Karakol! Memo is motorcyclist, so it’s great place for riders to stop for couple days to ride around
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I absolutely loved staying at Memo's Boutique Guest House and would warmly recommend it to anyone visiting Karakol. The bright yellow guest house is set on a very quiet street easy walking distance from the town center. The location was very peaceful and quiet (no traffic noise). I had a lovely room with private bathroom (shower and toilet) which looked out over the garden. Actually, I think all the rooms have private bathroom. The garden is filled with flowers, and there are some wooden tables in the back where it is nice to relax with a cold beer or wine with a view of the mountains in the distance. The room was bright and clean and nicely decorated with furniture of Western style and quality. The Internet was surprisingly fast for Kyrgyzstan (fast enough to stream a Netflix movie). The included breakfast was excellent. Since I was tired after a long day, I decided to have dinner at Memo's as well, and I did not regret it: Memo prepared some pasta and slow-cooked ribs that just fell of the bone. Delicious! After spending so much time in Kyrgyzstan it was nice to finally have an Italian-style dinner and some decent wine again, and to enjoy lively conversation with Memo and the fellow guests in the common dining room. Memo, the Italian owner of the guesthouse, is super friendly and quite a character. He is an excellent source of practical information and he had lots of interesting stories about his time in Kyrgyzstan and his motorcycle adventures. This was definitely the nicest place I stayed in while traveling in Kyrgyzstan.
Cons: I liked everything
5.0 Okay
Pros: Not much as we wanted a more better location and ambience.
Cons: Not much as we wanted a more better location and ambience.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The bed was good and the volunteers at the property (Tekla and her husband) made us feel very welcome - I'd hate to think what it would have been like without them!
Cons: This place is a disaster. It is run by someone who doesn't seem to know what he is doing, but charging prices as if his is a well-run boutique hotel in Italy or France. It isn't. We booked two private rooms for three nights. When we arrived, we were told that booking.com was making mistakes and our rooms weren't actually available (after looking at the rooms Memo is offering on booking.com, it seems like the fault is more likely his), so we were given two private rooms for the first two nights, and then were made to move into a shared room on the third night. Despite being in touch with Memo before we came, he didn't tell us about this until we arrived. Because we had just cycled 150km from Kazakhstan we were too tired to go elsewhere, but if he had told us about this in advance we would have. Even worse, the price was the same despite having to move our things and share a room. Memo seemed to think that because we had a little lounge attached to the private rooms we had for the first two days, which we didn't want or ask for, he was doing us a favour not charging us more! Worse, there was construction going on at the property next to our rooms right through our stay. It started about 10 each morning but continued until at least 7.30 each night - one night an angle grinder was still going at 9.15! It was very loud and disruptive, and came with power outages as well - but of course no apology for any disruption from Memo. The rules at the property are also ridiculous. It is forbidden to bring food or beverages into the guesthouse, which makes a mockery of renting "apartments" that you use like home. Finally, what sort of Boutique Hotel uses the lowest quality toilet paper Kyrgyzstan has to offer? If you haven't been to the former USSR yet, be advised, bring your own supply to Memo's Boutique Hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was different every day and delicious. The host Memo was very friendly and gave us great advices (driver, food, hiking, mathruska). He even organized a dinner at a Dungan family which was unbelievable great. He itself is a great cook as well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Both the guesthouse and Memo's hospitality were much beyond expectations. This was our second visit to Karakol, and having seen a few other places Memo's is absolutely the best in town! Great breakfast, excellent modern furnishings, and a well-located guesthouse.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice and clean room. Breakfast was plenty and good. There was a nice sitting area in front of our rooms. The hotel is a bit far from the center but with a taxi it is a 5 minute ride.
Cons: Compared to other hotels in Kyrgyzstan it was a little bit expensive
8.3 Excellent

Cons: Some problems with the shower
8.3 Excellent

Pros: friendly service good location clean and well-kept rooms a very tasty and varied breakfast I recommend it!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very clean hotel with a adjoining cafe so food is always accessible. Staff was accommodating to last minute changes in dates due to unforeseen changes to our trek.
Cons: Slightly far from the central area where CBT is. Hot water took a few hours to heat up.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great little hotel. Rooms are small but comfortable. Good buffet breakfast. Quiet at night. Attached cafe is the best I found in town.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Hotel location is easy to find, just beside the main road though slightly a little far from city centre but still walkable 15 to 20mins distance. Beds are comfy and clean. Breakfast is great but unfortunately there is a fly in my plate which is kinda disappointing. Coffee is really good, thumbs up. The cafe also serves good burger with nice ambience and music performance at night. Staff is helpful and friendly even though we had a few problems below during our stay and willing to cancel our booking due to our request, thank you!
Cons: Hot shower is not working. A lot of flies in hotel and rooms as we were informed by the staff that it's due to autumn season. Receptionist should have better command of English for easier communication.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Location was far from to the center. I was stayed at the room no 12. I think this was at the upstairs of the kitchen so every time smelling very bad with food cooking smell and my room was full of the housefly. The tap water was blackish at the bath. I did not like there and never need to go there again and never suggest to any of my friend. I found there kind an over-rated and over-priced place.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I have stayed at the Madanor Hotel on several occasions and it consistently pleases. Rooms are basic but everything works and my room is always clean. Hotel staff is always available and there to help. Orientation is to the customer. Room service every day but if you do not want it then just put up the "do not disturb" sign. Breakfast is outstanding. Sometimes they have a buffet with many selections and sometimes you can order from the menu of the adjoining restaurant. Very nice views from the rooms. Views from one side of the hotel look out onto the mountains to the south while the views from the other side of the hotel look out upon a nice farmhouse. Fast wi-fi. There are several different routers to provide the best reception depending on what room you are in.
Cons: The hot dishes from the buffet breakfast should probably be served from some type of heated tray as the food does cool in short order. Also, some cold drinks such as water and juices would be nice. Screens on the bedroom windows would be welcome to keep out the Karakol flies.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Well equiped and comfy rooms, Sierra cafe and restaurant inside hotel, warm atmosphere, open till 11pm
Cons: Staff could be more helpful - receptionist absolute zero english and lack of common sense
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Helpful staff. Good breakfast,
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was perfect. When the hotel was full we had great buffet style breakfast (fruits, cookies, sandwiches, scrambled eggs...) And when most rooms were empty we could choose our breakfast in the cafe menu. Sierra cafe is the best "chilling" place we could hope for. Good coffee, nice atmosphere, smiley staff.
Cons: Run out of hot water fast.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Social atmosphere, nice common areas, confortable beds, delicious breakfast!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, quiet hostel. This is my third stay. Erkin and his sister are very helpful. Outside of the hostel gate turn left and on the asphalt turn right and left again at the next crossroads. Keep walking straight up. At some time there is a big gate over the road declaring that you are now entering a village. Follow the main mud road through the village and up the hill. Cross a mud road cut rather brutally into the hillside. Keep walking uphill right of the small valley. After an hour or two of walking you will be on top of the highest hill with 2500m and good views over the Lake Issyk Köl and Karakol and towards the high snow covered mountains on the other side, i.e. the South. This is a rewarding walk of a few hours that does not need any preparation, transfer or climbing boots. You can climb into the valley beyond or just walk back.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was really good, different both days
5.4 Okay
Pros: Nice and comfy rooms
Cons: We stayed in the hostel for 3 days and for 3 days they did not clean the bathrooms.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good wifi, comfortable beds, hot showers. Helpful staff - the receptionist even helped us order food to the hostel after a long day hiking when we were too tired to walk into town for dinner. A nice garden with hammocks to relax in post-hike. We stayed in both a private room and dorm during our stay - both very comfortable. Dorm beds have individual plugs and reading lights, as well as individual lockers with keys.
Cons: Bathroom/shower room is a little "tired" and in need of renovating/modernising. Location is slightly further from the center of the the town than we would have liked.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, modern and English spoken helpfull staff. Everything you wish :)
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice rooms comfortable bunk beds, nice staff kindly helped us out pre and post hike to Ala Kul

Cons: Location is a little bit far from the city center, but taxi in Karakol is very cheap, so its not a problem at all!

Pros: The showers were hot and clean. The Western - style toilets were appreciated by some in our family. Breakfast was good, as was the one evening meal that we had. The family that owns it were very accommodating, even providing vegetarian options when requested. The children loved to play in the garden.
7.1 Good
Pros: Really nice and helpful host, very good breakfast
Cons: Only squat toilets, located at the very edge of town
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a great place - we loved every minute of our stay and are very thankful to the family for hosting us! We stayed in a cosy yurt (as we came in the beginning of the season, we were even so lucky to have it privately for ourselfes :)), got the greatest kyrgyz food (one dinner, the rest of the days delicious breakfast, always with fresh fruit and vegetables and tea, verey day something different). Also, we got some really helpful tips from the family on what to see and do in and around Karakol (and also- what to leave out ;)). Everything was cosy and clean, good showers, western style toilet, a beautiful (rose) garden --- and from the "breakfast yurt" you even enjoy a mountain view!
Cons: Well, we were not bothered, but we heard that some guests did not like the barking of the neighbouring dogs. As this is a usual sound in kyrgyz villages and city suburbs, better bring some earplugs to make sure you get a good nights sleep. And don't worry: all dogs are behind fences, you won't even see them.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful place! Very friendly owners! The speak very good English and can you tell a lot about beatiful places in Kirgistan. Everything is clean. And the best working wifi ever
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was such a beautiful place! The yurts were super nice and clean and very special. What an experience to sleep in a yurt. We had a great time thanks to the owners. Breakfast was very tasty as well.
