Great location all of the towns other attractions were close to the hotel. You could hear the hotel plumbing during the night.
Improved room following renovation, central location, friendly atmosphere Increased use of inexperienced foreign workers?
Efficient staff, good food and excellent bar. Toilet did not function in room allocated, had to change rooms. Room very cramped, more suited to a single than a double.Nowhere to sit down and no drawers in room.
Very comfortable, good service. Original room allocated was on 2nd floor not 1st as requested. Changed immediately with no quibble. Nothing at all
Friendly staff and an excellent breakfast. Great beer (Wainwrights) None
Excellent Cumbrian breakfast. Staff very helpful. Good base for exploring Northern Lakes.
Friendly relaxed and welcoming, modern bedrooms in an old charming hotel.Good bar food and beers.Lots of extras for the walker.Excellent breakfast. No hotel parking, it can be quite expensive to park in keswick, unless you are fortunate enough to find a free space it costs £6 for 10 hours.
Location The room smelled funny. I was only given one pillow that was flat, I asked for another and this was just as flat. This hotel is in a great location but not worth it.
Very helpful & friendly staff Ideally situated for walking & evening leisure Restaurant meals excellent We were celebrating our Wedding Anniversary & the Manager organised arrangement of flowers for our room for my good lady - brownie points gained As there is no parking facility, because of the superb location in the village, there was only side road parking - There is however a loading bay area for removal & loading of luggage - so once unloaded , parking was available within a 2 minute walk - so perfectly acceptable for such a busy & popular location
great staff very friendly. we booked with 4 friends 2 rooms. the staff noticed that we were close friends and asked whether we prefered one 4 person room. great idea. good service!
Excellent location; Good value; Good food; Staff friendly and welcoming. None.
The views from the hotel, closeness of the lake and access to mountains, freedom to come and go as we pleased.
Hotel is in a perfect setting with great views and beautiful grounds running down to Derwent Water. Rooms are comfortable and the food in the restaurant was excellent. Our second stay at the Derwent, there will be more. Bed could have been firmer, bit soft for me.
The hotel was tired looking, our room had damage to the wall where the door banged open. The bathroom was cheaply decorated and like the rest of the hotel in need of refurbishment, quite old fashioned, tho might suit the older residents. The hotel manager Russel Theron, was less than helpful when we arrived to find the lake view room we booked was unavailable. He showed little concern and tho' he gave us another room over looking the road he made absolutely no effort to compensate us in any way. The next day he was off for 2 days!! it took a lot of effort, on his return, to have the bill amended as he felt he couldn't make any changes. Who is managing this hotel then? We checked out as soon as possible.
Wonderful position and very helpful staff We didn't find any bad points
Very pleasant location, peaceful, helpful and accommodating staff, used to older discerning clients, relaxing for a leisure stay, convenient for business stop-over. One important one - the hotel had no information o hand that I was arriving, fortunate a suitable room was avalable Staff were unaware of Active Hotels internet as an agency.
Very pleasantly surprised at the value for money.good location, friendly staff, comfortable room, good food & service, good atmosphere. None.
The staff were very friendly and efficient - good and quick service at breakfast and dinner - both were extremely nice - very satisfied with the service and staff - room was comfortable and keep very clean no
Relaxing atmosphere, especially in conservatory & grounds. Excellent location. Polite & pleasant staff - Good food. Encountered some problems in trying to book direct with the hotel so decided, eventually, to book on the internet.
Very little! Having spent a lovely family four night stay at Dww Hotel some years ago, we looked forward to our overnight stay on 08-06-2010. We were very disappointed - with the accommodation, the breakfast preparation, the general lack of attention to detail and value for money. We shall no longer recommend this hotel and certainly shall not book again. See above.
Nice comfortable room with friendly staff
Well-equipped rooms with everything working well. No expense has been spared to provide top quality accommodation. Excellent meals. Beautiful beds. The front door mat looked scruffy and the mat well needed cleaning out. This obviously gets rough treatment so it is understandable that its condition should deterioarate quickly. However, it does give a bad impression when you first enter the hotel. The overgrown ivy needs cutting back.
The setting next to Lake Derwentwater and the wonderful views from the dining room at breakfast. The room was very small, and the breakfast was not very good. Not value for money.
Location Food average
A very friendly place, food was very good albeit with overlarge portions. Bedroom was rather cramped.TV In room had very poor reception! Booking confirmation said that the hotel took amex for payment when I tried to settle the bill with my amex card the Reception Manager said that they did not take amex. This was problematic and could have been very serious if I did not have another card or sufficient cash!
It was peaceful and quiet in the bungalow annex where we stayed and the views from the dining room were extensive showing the lake and mountains. Personally I am not fond of gravel drives and paths
Friendliness of staff and hotel cleanliness Loved room 25 but found shower room dated
Lovely setting, beautiful views. Ideal with the Launch on the doorstep. Friendly staff and good food The times for breakfast could do with going to later- for a relaxing break to finish serving at 9 was too early. Bedroom was really cold in the evening.
Excellent location and good food
Comfort of large rooms; very good food.
Good location and excellent breakfasts. Comfortable bed.
A comfortable and quiet room together with an excellent menu in the dining room.
Staff were very helpfull ,breakfast was very good , hotel location next to keswick ideal walking distance. We were allocated room 118 on arrival - when going to the room the carpets and floorboards were all ripped up - big health hazard these days ! on on the second day the workmen needed access to the room so we requested a room change and this was done ok - shouldn't have been put in room 118 in 1st place - very inconveniant having to move rooms during our stay.
Everything. Hotel superb, location superb. Difficult to fault anything.
In a prime location for walking and generally relaxing. Warm rooms, good food and friendly, withiut overpowering, staff Can't think of anything that we didn't like!
Most staff very pleasant and helpfull a special mention for timothy in the dinning hall always smiling very helpful The room had, no hairdryer facilities, reception not helpful, room decor dull and dated, winows dirty outside, carpet trims loose, towel radiator hanging loose all but one bracket broken. Over all room very poor (309)
Location and friendly staff. Building which has alot of character and set in lovely garden. The floor of my room slanted badly. Although this is due to the age of the building, sometimes it was not comfortable sleeping on the bed. Decor in general could do with freshing up.
The Hotel was very near town centre. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was excellent, bedroom/ensuite were very clean. Ease of booking in/out. Choice of evening meal times. For my person needs it would have been handy to have an ensuite with a walk in shower. Disabled guest.
The Leisure facilities were very good and the Hot tub was excellant. The food was nice quality although was a little disapointed that they had ran out of scallops for the starter . The staff were excellant and gave very good service The mattress needed replacing . It was most uncomfortable and led to a poor nights sleep.
The setting, food and lounges are excellent for relaxing. Cosy, warm. The reception area was delayed in attending to queries on all (2) occasions. Bath robes were dirty, and after setting them aside for collection, these were politely hung up again. Not cool to have some lady's face makeup smeared all over the collar, had to be blind to miss it!!
The hotel staff were excellent, No mini bar and small bathrooms, with no shelf to put toiletries on!
Warmth & professionalism of all staff (except one!). Staff were approachable, knowledgeable and friendly. Smallness of lift, three trips loading luggage. I realise this is minor but I couldn't think of anything else bad to say about the hotel! Also menu offers four or two courses but not three, when three would probably be most peoples logical choice.
Scenery and location was stunning Meals were expensive
We hugely enjoyed the excellent meals and the ample lounge facilities which allow for peaceful reading. Only drawback was a difficulty in keeping the room cool: we settled for switching off the heating! Oh, and despite the eco-friendly notice encouraging re-use of towels, with which we sought to comply, all the towels were still changed daily.
Lovely hotel, fantastic location!
Friendly staff; clean, warm & comfortable room with a comfy bed! Ideal relaxation after a day on the hills.
The location and general facilities including the restaurant were of the highest standard. The staff were all very attentive and helpful. We will certainly return. The exit from the hotel onto the road was almost blind to the driver or pedestrian.
location and views the mouse running around the bar.
the overall experience was positive The mechanics of obtaining a hot shower were difficult. Bar shutting at midnight exactly even when 13 people still in bar (14/02), my previous experience of staying at a hotel were that the bar stayed open when people were still present. ( Obviously within reason!)
Locality, bar and food. Parking limited but understandable given age of building.
Very pleasant and efficient staff. I will be visiting again.
location, location location rooms could use a bit of maintenance
the nearby scenery and countryside along wiyh the lakes was outstanding as were the large variety of shops etc contained within the small town of keswick Loud street noise at night until 3.00am
location, views out the room. noisy radiator but now they have been told...
Staff were efficient and quick to serve at meals Top floor even though other rooms were empty
Not a lot The renovation work dripping taps cleanliness of bathroom overall decoration of bedrom
Excellent location, staff friendly and helpfull, espically pointing out how to claim back car-parking costs against the nightly tarriff. Breakfast 1st class.
Conveient & helpful.
good breakfasts very central didnt need to use car Could hear through hotel room to next room so didnt sleep much they snored very loudly
Spacious rooms, location was excellent, very quiet at night, good breakfast, good value and quality four course meals in the evening.
An excellent well run hotel in an excellent location, staff were very helpful throughout. Definitely recommended.
central location location of room made it noisy from stairs and very noisy from the street from late night drinkers at 2 am then the market setting up at 7 am
Location, staff, lift Noisy bar opposite, hotel could do with general refurb decor wise, needs better real ales selection - this is Cumbria!!
We had a wonderful time and both the staff and the hotel were very welcoming. We were happy with all aspects of care and service.
Its in a handy location. The service at breakfast was excellent the staff were polite and efficient and the food was nice with lots of choice and little time to wait for it. Our room was facing the market and was pretty noisey at 6.00am when the stalls were being assembled, ear plugs in the room should of gave us a clue.Didnt like the fact that if you lost the car park pass you would be charged nearly 300 pounds
The function we attended was done very well The standard rooms were very small and the staff on the telephone were not very accommodating when asked if we could check in a little earlier to change for a wedding function at the hotel. This was resolved after speaking with the manager. I think the hotel is overpriced
comfiness of the bed + nice bathroom bed cover was a bit garrish but not a problem
It was very noisey - being on the town centre.
the staff were very helpful and they was always some one there to help the lager was fosters and not carling but thats just me been petty.
We booked a double room but when we got to check in they had us down for a twin room it was only due to another family cancelling on the very last minute that we got a double room. During our stay we became aware of other offers that would have saved us some cash that were not offered to us on line.
Very nice room. We were told that is was the best the hotel can offer.Cozy hotel with a nice restaurant and pub. Lively town. Central location. None
Excellent beers in the bar, comfy room and excellent location slightly awkward parking, some street noise, but no problem really, big portions in restaurant a little over priced.
Plesant bedroom and spacious bathroom. Good food in nice dining room. Friendly staff who cared that customers were happy. No real outdoor space.
helpfulness of staff, good food central location
Convenient for Keswick town Check the booking rate twice before booking.
Being in the very heart of such a friendly town, with nice staff, good food and real ale. Would prefer bath to shower for the price.
Convenience to all Keswick attractions. Old World surroundings. Excellent bar meal and breakfast with prompt service. Staff who checked us in did not recognise we were residents and ushered us out of the bar to lock up.
Excellent location. Friendly staff. Vegetarian breakfast available without having to ask. Room was clean and comfortable. The age of the property and the sloping floors were brilliant!! We would have preferred a room with a bath. Tv reception wasn't very good and it was a bit of a pain not having a remote control
- breakfast was good - our room had an en-suite bathroom - friendly staff; recommended a great restaurant for dinner - George Hotel - great location, walking distance from main town area - the room was cramped - there was no 'do not disturb' sign to hang on the door
Great location, close to the lake and trails but also very close to the shops, bars and restaurants. Friendly owners, made some good suggestions regarding the area. Room and bathroom in great condition, nicely designed in modern style. Very nice lounge, where you can relax after a day out in the mountain side and read more about the beauty of Cumbria. We could not pick up the wifi signal in our room, but this was not a big deal as we did not need it that much. Also, the signal was much better in the breakfast room so you could still use it if you wanted to connect.
Very clean, good standard of presentation and facilities bedrooms lovely Staff very welcoming, polite and courteous and nothing was too much trouble for the staff Food excellent, well presented and great choice
Spacious room with beautiful design, lovely food, pleasant staff, beautiful setting. OTher than the exceptionally squeaky headboard that we reported during our stay there is nothing I can criticise.
We love Keswick anyway so of course the location was ideal. We would fully recommend this hotel. The food was excellent. The menu changed daily and every meal was superb. The staff couldn’t do enough for you.
very freindly staff, excellent food, first class accommodation, every was perfect. nothing
Warm welcome.Pleasing location near Lake Derwentwater.Excellent breakfast served by pleasant willing staff. sign of any owners or managers throughout our four day stay!? none at all!
It was my 60th birthday treat from my daughters and we all had an absolutely fabulous time. The hotel and food were excellent and the manner of the staff is very rare to find these days. They were polite and courteous at all times. Normally we wouldn't really be able to afford £80 per person per night but for the experience it was worth every penny. It certainly would be worth saving up to return.
The accommodations and the food were excellent! It was also nice to have access to a large car park.
The excellent food and the location and proximity to Keswick town. Bathroom was a bit dated and shower cubicle had seen better days.
Most of all the friendliness and excellent service given by all the staff & the quality of the food
The Hotel was and is amzing, food is gorgeous staff are brilliant. i stayed in the woodford suite and enjoyed every minute of it. keswick is such a beautiful place. nothing at all
