Pros: The resort itself is absolutely beautiful with plenty activities, some for a price. But, if you plan on exploring the city of Escondido or visiting San Diego, a vehicle is required because the resort is in a very secluded area.
Cons: Didn't like the bottom level floor/ground level of the mountain villas.
Pros: Gym is the best equipped I have ever seen.
Lots of exercise & yoga classes available
Very nice Executive golf course
Staff for most part very helpful
They really try to keep you entertained right on the premises with shows, & other activities.
The units are very nicely laid out large & comfortable
If you have kids, lots of playgrounds, slides, & pools to play in.
Overall it's the staff & the rooms that make this a very nice relaxing stay
Cons: Terrible internet connection on my laptop
Location not convenient, have to drive some distance for evening out or dinner out
Pros: Comfortable beds, spacious for our family, washer & dryer in villa, fully stocked kitchen to prepare anything, helpful, friendly staff, and most of all, Esco is a short drive (minus CA traffic) to all sights.
Cons: We are a family of 6 and stayed mid July. This was our second stay at Welk and due to a lot of noise upstairs from us last year, we requested an upstairs villa this time. They were nice about accommodating our request however, when we pulled up to the villa, parking was limited because of construction. The first night we discovered ants crawling on the kitchen counter, so I called and they sent someone over to resolve the problem(but not completely). Oh and the people below us smoked, so whenever we chose to sit on the patio we were greeted with cigarette smoke. Construction began early in the mornings and it was loud. I can't help but think it was our fault for requesting an upstairs villa and that is all they had available. We stayed for 7 days and housekeeping came once. Let's just say I never felt comfortable removing my shoes inside the villa. The kids loved the rec center and the pool, however the latter was never kept clean. I overheard a guest mention how he could actually 'see his feet' today but then pointed out everything floating on the top of the water. None of this bothered me overly much until I took my kids to the pool on a Sat night around 7ish, and encountered a group of twenty year-old girls at the hot tub, drinking, cursing, and talking very loudly about their sexual escapades. Don't get me wrong, I'm not some prudish anti-fun individual and my kids are not completely ignorant about life but what those girls discussed made even me feel uncomfortable. We were about to leave until they took their party elsewhere, but I can't help but wonder what they were doing there in the first place? Were they with family, or did Welk rent a villa to a rowdy group of individuals who wanted to party in a family environment? We will not be returning next year.
Pros: clean, new appliances. attractive decor, good bed, good price
Cons: lights too bright, pillows kinda hard (?)
Pros: The staff was very friendly, our room was very clean. Great value!!!
Pros: Nice place, clean, comfortable bed (probably the most comfortable bed of our entire California road trip), friendly staff. I would definitely stay here again. Everything about this place was a pleasant surprise.
Cons: Neighboring businesses made me wary before I checked in. It was in the search for San Diego hotels and I was booking several places so I guess I didn't double-check the map. Escondido is not staying in San Diego.
Pros: WOW, much better than what I was expecting for a Motel class establishment. Clean and tidy bathroom, room came with refrigerator and microwave standard, recently refurbished, staff (Bobby) was professional and prompt.
Pros: Clean bathroom
Cons: That it was located next to the Adult book store. That did not sit well with me.
Pros: Good value for the money. Check in and out was very easy. Continental breakfast was decent.
Cons: Rooms were very small. Furniture old and worn.
Cons: Came back to our room around 11 after going to a wedding. Our neighbors have the door wide open smoking weed and then were playing with large lighters and other drug paraphernalia in the bed. I couldn't sleep due to the fear the place would be bursting into flames. Awful. Tiny rooms, tiny bathrooms, dirty, grungy. $100 a night for this place on a Saturday. STAY AWAY.
UPDATE: after walking out of our room to check out and leave because I was so nervous. Caught of glimpse of what they were smoking with these large pipes: METH. I say this only because I made eye contact with one and their pupils were pinpoint small at 1am - it's dark so your pupils should be dilated. Could've been some other highly illegal substance- but appeared on all accounts as meth. So, good job. Door right open. The clerk simply said "you're checked out" upon us leaving.
I called the hotel and then priceline to attempt to get our money back. They could only say, "Sorry, but the hotel is non-smoking". Okay, well I'm sorry but maybe they thought that was exclusive to cigarettes? How am I reporting to you that OBVIOUSLY this was not the case hence my very upset demeanor upon checking out?
Also, rooms look nothing like the photos. Dirty, grimey, gross.
STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS MOTEL AS POSSIBLE. SPEND THE EXTRA $50 TO AT LEAST FEEL CLEAN AND SAFE ELSEWHERE.
Cons: if anything the location was kinda weird with the side road, but still not a problem after back tracking
Pros: Breakfast staff were very polite and had an excellent vibe to them
Cons: No bacon for breakfast
Pros: Clean, comfortable, nice

Pros: Always a pleasant stay - staff is great! Rooms are comfortable.
Cons: Remodel is occurring - can be noisy during the day.
Pros: Very friendly staff is enough to inspire us to return
Cons: Don't like that the restaurant next door opens late on Saturday morning.
Pros: I loved that they had a kitchenette, refrigerator, and cable. Its was a cool lil spot to be at for a couple days
Pros: Location, loveseat, fridge, microwave. Bed comfortable.
Cons: No coffee maker in room as advertised. Alarm clock not by bed.
Pros: Cheap room price
Cons: -Rooms smell like old sweaty socks
-Uncomfortable bed, sheets and pillows
-AC/Heater that is loud and probably from the 1970's
-TV definitely over 20 years old
- Old ugly carpets
- Old ugly paint
- Old ugly everything
Cons: Parking was atrocious.
Staff was rude and preoccupied with Snapchat (literally)
Pros: the hotel was clean and the pool area was clean. the staff for housekeeping was very nice. the wifi was great. the breakfast was good. the price you pay is exactly what you get.
Cons: the way the tv is program to shut off every 45 min. it is ridiculous . the front desk is terrible. they have no answers and refuse to try to get answers.
Pros: Rooms were newly done and clean.Staff was pleasant and nice, also had a swimming pool outside and only 25-30min downtown San Diego, loved the stay for the amount of money!
Cons: The toilet : it was so hard to flash..
Pros: Loved the fact that everything has been well kept and maintained. Looks like new ownership/new decorations.
Cons: People lingering around the hotel at night.
Cons: Old outdated building !!
Pros: Finally getting to check out the next day….
Cons: Everything about this place spells disaster. Right next to homeless shelter, bus station, goodwill and detention center all within no more than 1 mile in a circle around this place…
In the morning breakfast place where you get the "continental" breakfast - horrible food, there is toilet right next to the counter where the food is and the homeless people come in there all morning long and take a poop in the restroom and stink up the breakfast counter food and the entire room - makes you wanna throw up literally…no good run and believe all the crappy reviews!!!!
CHECK YELP REVIEWS…...
Cons: The AC was very loud, and the curtains covered the wall unit. Also, there were ants all over the bathroom.
Pros: I liked that it was in a good location.
Cons: The room we stayed in was horrible. The air condition did not work, room smelled like mold. My husband and I went to take a shower and there was no hot water. When I called the front desk, I was told sorry about that miss let me turn on the hot water. When I also talked to the front desk about the air conditioner I was told there is nothing that can be done right now the maintenance man is not here to fix it. I also complained about the smell and was told that there are no rooms available right now. The next day I complained again about the air conditioner and the smell. The front desk employee said that the maintenance man is still not here to fix it so since a room opened up he can move us to another room. When we moved to the other room it was nice the room smelled great and the air conditioner worked. The only problem with that room is that it had ants all over the counters and in the bathroom. My husband and I thought we would try to relax by getting in the hot tub. The hot tub was colder than the swimming pool. The hot tub also smelled really bad. Our trip was horrible. This trip was supposed to be a get away from our kids and relax. But because of the hotel and all of the problems we had with the room it ruined our trip. I will never stay at this hotel again and I don't recommend anyone else to stay there either.
Cons: Tile floor in room
Planters beds ground covers
Bath products were not good, low quality all
Pros: Location was OK as near relatives we were visiting
Cons: No complementary breakfast and no near by affordable restaurants. Grossly overpriced.
Pros: Loved the hot pools
Pros: I booked my stay at The Tuscany Hills Resort because the price was great and it was conveniently situated to reaching a wide number of San Diego locations I had to call on for business. What I got was a very authentic feeling Tuscan family style hideaway. The surrounding scenery was gorgeous, and the cascade of small "soaking pools" that flowed through a garden area connected by mini "waterfalls" were a delight to unwind in each evening and wake to in the crisp January mornings. Add a nicely decorated room and a full size swimming pool for the family, and this place offered loads of benefits at a meager price.
Pros: The 24 hour spa pools were nice. The resort was extremely quiet, relaxing, and the landscape was beautiful.
Cons: There were lots of spider webs in the room. The décor of the room was old and appeared unfinished.
Cons: There were ants in the bathroom and hair in the bathtub.
Cons: Our room smelled like butter that went bad
Pros: Room was dark and quiet for sleeping. Bed was comfortable & nice pillows. Friendly staff.
Cons: Breakfast on weak side. Make eggs and bacon easier to hey to, not in corner.
Cons: Very bad experience, poor plumbing. Room had bad odor. Not staying here again!
Pros: The location worked well for us, as it was close places we visited and there were good choices of restaurants and shopping close by.
A nice walk along the nearby Escondido River was a pleasant surprise too.
The staff was very warm and helpful. The pool and spa were nice.
I would stay there again.
Cons: The phone in the room did not work, but the staff fixed it right away.
Pros: That it was fairly close to the beach. The $80 price that I was quoted at first somehow was quoted for Sunday night instead of Saturday. It ended up costing me way more than I planned.
Cons: Location was ok and room was ok except I am a woman alone and had to carry all my luggage up 3 flights of stairs and the parking was poor. Very difficult to even get into the place.
Was very disappointed that the price ended up being $140.00 instead of the $80.00 which I know that I put in Saturday but my confirmation showed Sunday so I had to quickly just change the date and did not have time to find another place. I would have preferred to pay that much at a better place.
Pros: Great friendly staff
Nice and quiet
Fridge and microwave a plus

Pet Friendly with a charge Cribs and rollaways at property
Pros: Good AC , fridge, bed clean, no one will bother you
Cons: Stole my cell phone charger, weak shower, AC leaked water. Pool looked to gross to enter. One ice machine on whole property
Pros: Complimentary breakfast was great!
Cons: Rooms seemed dirty. Graffiti on furniture. No shower curtain. But I guess you get what you pay for....
Pros: Front desk guy was nice.
Cons: Appearance. Cleanliness. Quality. Value. Had to switch rooms due to missing items from first room. Second room had the items desired, but the smell was awful and the shower and sink were not functioning properly.
Cons: I found a cockroach alive in a dresser.
Pros: Price is good, location is convenient. Hotel was quiet. Free wireless internet worked just fine. More space in bathroom than I would have expected for the price.
Cons: Breakfast is a little minimal (waffles, cereal, toast, coffee, juice), but that's fair given the price of the room. Similarly, there's not much of a lobby, but I didn't need that.
Cons: Unsanitary bed bug infested, black mold, old, dirty bedding, heaps of overflowing garbage on motel lot
Pros: Was okay, just crappy location way out of San Diego
Cons: Location, staff a bit unsure of things, nice enough though! If you want to be in San Deigo dont stay here!!
Pros: There were restaurants nearby (cross Centre City Parkway for the Sub Shop and yogurt place), as well as grocery and pharmacy.
Cons: Breakfast consisted of: Cheerios or Fruit Loops with milk; coffee; juice; a very small selection of blueberry muffins or danishes. There was no table to sit at to eat breakfast. I didn't bother with this free breakfast after my first day. Wi-fi was fine for my laptop, but spotty for my iPod.
Pros: The staff was great, the price I paid was the absolute best for those dates, the location is super convenient.
Cons: The rooms are small it felt crowded , the bed and pillows extremely uncomfortable, there's no free WiFi, the room I got had microwave and refrigerator but no hair dryer or coffee maker, there was a gathering of homeless people in the very near by sidewalk the 3 days & nights I was there, I didn't feel safe.
Pros: Escondido is in the bottom of a valley therefore it tends to retain heat in the late afternoon. This is an excellent time for a swim at the Motel 6 pool when the sun is at it's hottest, very relaxing.
I was shocked at how often I was at the pool alone, great. What few guests came were friendly and respectful.
Cons: The receptionist was not very friendly, there were many bugs in our room, and most importantly, the room itself was not clean or comfortable. During our night-long stay, a huge mosquito, large moth, and cockroach shared the room with us to our disgust. The water pressure was very low, the sink was clogged, it was very obvious that the soap had been reused from previous stays, and there were cobwebs around the lights in the bathroom.
Cons: I have Bed Bug bites all over the back of my legs.
Cons: The room smelled faintly of smoke even though it was non smoking.
Pros: It was close to places we wanted to go (Stone Brewing, California Center for the Arts). It was a place to rest your head - absolutely nothing fancy or overly comfortable about it.
Cons: While located relatively near places we wanted to go, the exact location of the motel was questionable. There were multiple homeless people wandering through parking lot while we checked in. We chose to Uber instead of walk anywhere. Why make people pay for WiFi? Why is there no shampoo in the bathrooms? They clearly attempted to "modernize" the rooms, but with the sparse furnishings and laminate floor it just lacked any semblance of comfort.
Pros: I liked that we could get multiple keys. Overall, it was nice. The beds and pillows were pretty comfortable. I didn't have trouble sleeping. I liked that the floors are wooden and NOT carpet. There was no cigarette smell which was excellent because most hotels I've stayed at reeked of cigarette smoke. The AC was strong enough to keep the room very cool.
Cons: I have nothing bad to say. Just wish there was a mini fridge or something like that. I also noticed that there weren't shampoos when we got in; only bar soap. So I keeping up with the housekeeping a bit more. It's not a big deal but it's just something I noticed :)
Cons: The amount of lies the lady told u the fact that the person working at the office was looking at us on the camara all the time when we where headed up to the room and she called us and said that 2 of my friends needed to leave because 6 people could not be in a 4 person room to hang out for a bit.
Pros: Staff was polite and friendly. My only complaint was that someone took the batteries out if the remote so I had to walk to the desk to get some. Other than that, the bed was comfortable, although 2 pillows wasn't enough, I still slept well.
Pros: It was a good price.
The lady in the office were very friendly.
The floors were faux wood so they appeared new and clean.
Cons: There were police presence every night.
It seems I may have gotten bed bugs from my two nights there.
There were only soap no shampoo.
Pros: Very clean. Helpful staff.
Cons: Very basic, no extras. As another reviewer said, you get what you pay for. It was just fine for what I needed: A place to sleep for the night.
Pros: Easy check-in and check-out, helpful staff, the room decor was modern, I went to sleep and slept hard. It was what I wanted and expected, few extras, and no hassle.
Cons: It wasn't as clean as it should've been. Although a smoke free room it still smelled due to other ppl smoking outside of rooms. Pretty damaged carpets and furniture. Found a roach.
Pros: The weather was awesome!
Cons: Closet size rooms, door had to be pulled before sliding door card, hookers working hard in the back room, TV volume didn't work on certain channels, air condition only worked if you moved the bed away from it.
Cons: Sheets had dried blood stains and other random spots that looked like mold on the flat sheet as well as the blanket, we requested several sets of new sheets.
Pros: It was convenient where we wanted to go. When we asked for a ground level room they were able to give us one.
Cons: The shower. There wasn't any place to put your soap. The room was small and only had one uncomfortable chair. There was no listings of stations for the TV remote. I asked housekeeping crew for fresh towels and never received them.
Pros: Staff was great, rooms were clean
Cons: Scary area, cramped rooms, hard beds.
Pros: The king beds were comfortable.
Cons: The floor was all tile. TV and phone both broken. Location is horrible. One roll of toilet paper. Didn't want to take a shower without shower shoes. Bathroom was dirty. Room was hot. A/C didn't work well, we had it set to 52 degrees and room was still hot.
