Pros: Stunning tropical setting, amazing gardens, and well comfortable rooms. Tours were very well run by the excellent guide Kay.
Cons: Somewhat pricey, but this seems to be the norm in PNG. Food and drink service in restaurant could be improved but staff were very warm and friendly.
Pros: Breakfast was fine, with nice fruits and coffees. Some muffins could be good! The resort is centrally located in Kokopo, about 10 minutes walk from the market and two minutes from the Anderson's supermarket.
Cons: There is no wifi in the rooms. For me, this was OK but for others this will be a bit of a turn-off.
Pros: Freindly attentative staff
Cons: One of the meals we had was a bit bland. Not bad, just a bit ho hum
Pros: Very pleasant hotel, with a great view to the beach and volcanos. Snorkelling, diving, swimming with dolphins, climbing volcano and mountain, going to the market are great activities to do in Kokopo.
Pros: Beautiful views from the deck of volcano!
Cons: Nothing, was great!
Pros: Clean resort with well maintained grounds. Steps lead down to a sandy beach. Good at the restaurant was nice although there is a limited selection for breakfast, but they cover the basics (coffee, juice, cereal, bread and fruit). The tour led by Sandra was enjoyable. A knowledgable local guide. Thankfully there was an airport transfer upon departure. The resort has some nice touches of tribal art.
Cons: Upon arrival there was no airport transfer. There is no gym nor spa facility at the moment.
Pros: Everything was perfect
Cons: Not a thing
Pros: Liked the local food in the menu. Location at beach front. Location in CBD
Cons: The wifi could not reach Room 37 where we stayed - we needed to go to the reception area or restaurant to use wifi.
Pros: The internet and wifi were down both days but I was helped greatly on the last day the sales manager sent someone to get a local Sim card The restaurant was very good ... great seafood
Cons: Reception should sell Sim cards Poor tv reception no newspapers
When you stay at Rapopo Plantation Resort in Kokopo, you'll be on the beach and 6 minutes by car from Kokopo Market. Featured amenities include a business center, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The whole atmosphere was wonderful. I loved the layout of the hotel, the restaurants, pool, beach, and random balconies and areas to sit and relax. Enjoyed the free canoe ride in the evening as well. We got to know the directing manager, Megan, who is super friendly and generous. We got to taste the delicious sea urchins fresh from the sea. I wish we were staying there longer!
Cons: It's good that the airport is close and they have a free airport shuttle. But it's a bit away from the Kokopo center and not much around. However there are free shuttles to the market everyday so it should be useful. You can get pretty much everything in the hotel (food, drinks, marine activities, etc.) so it doesn't really matter.
Pros: Staff were always willing to help and friendly
Pros: Love the relaxed atmosphere- great snorkeling- amazing staff - delicious food! Love coming To Rapopo every time we travel to ENB.
Pros: Dolphin swimming excursion.
Pros: I didn't have meals there as I had other arrangements. Location wise, good location and absolutely beautiful.
Cons: No gym
Pros: Hotel did not charge me for a night I missed because of Air Niugini, although it was not their fault, I did not ask, and they had no obligation to do so. Food was great, dive and tour center was awesome. Pool is also very nice. Staff is extremely helpful.
Cons: Internet is slow, and water at beach is to shallow to swim comfortably.
Pros: I would particularly like to thank Susan who served us around the pool area. She was hospitable, her service was impeccable and her smile was inviting. Matthew from security, was also very friendly and was helpful when we asked questions when walking through the resort. The dolphin dive/swim in the ocean in front of the resort was unforgettable and an experience like no other. The view from the ocean deck for dinning was just beautiful. Thank you to Michelle for your assistance on our departure and for your referral for us to visit your sister resort in "Port Moresby" The Sanctuary.. What a beautiful resort also , which was accommodating and very friendly with the unique experience of an aviary.....thank you Bella and Gina and staff.
Pros: Super friendly staff, great food and service, comfortable beds, right on the beach
Cons: Property was excellent, dive shop manager appeared inexperienced; missed qualification checks, poor pre-dive briefings.
Pros: Spacious rooms
Pros: Food and location
Cons: Drain smell in the bathroom
Rabaul Hotel offers a year-round outdoor pool and is within walking distance of Rabaul's main port and tourist sites. The on-site restaurant, Phoenix Room International Restaurant, offers western, Asian and vegetarian options. All rooms at Rabaul Hotel offer cable TV, a private bathroom, tea/coffee making facilities and air-conditioning. Guests staying at Rabaul Hotel can relax by the poolside or enjoy a cocktail in the Lounge Bar, which boasts a large billiard table and historic photos and memorabilia on display. The 24-hour reception can assist with tours, hire cars and travel bookings.
Pros: Location good for Tavuvur volcano, but not good for proximity to Kokopo town. Hotel has a Japanese bunker and pool and welcoming staff.
Cons: The rooms are quite tired but clean. Showers need replacing.
Pros: A fantastic hotel, run by owner Susan who is the most amazing woman - the hotel has everything you need, oit may not be luxury but it is exceptional for its amazing staff and a chef who creates one amazing meal after another another - I love this hotel.
Cons: There is absolutely nothing to dislike - its a great hotel
Pros: A great location for snorkeling, visiting megapods and the local area history.
Cons: It took till the 3rd room to find one that did not smell damp. Room was left open with our gear in on a number of occasions. The pool was unusable as it was dirty and like soup. Prices at restaurant were very high for not great meals. Staff had limited knowledge on local trip arranging. Lack of towels, jug, hot shower water and flushing toilet were all fixed eventually.
Pros: The staff was amazing and so nice, suzzie the owner was so friendly and so lovely. There food provided was amazing and best of all so cheap as well. They gave us a room with a extra bed for no extra charge, best service and staff. It may not be the fanciest hotel in Rabaul but it was prob the friendliest I would Def stay here again. Its only walking distance to many tourist activities, take note it's a hours drive on a bumpy road to get up here, if you have many things planned in the old Rabaul your best to stay here rather then travel 2 hours every time to come and then go back to kokopo.
Cons: Rooms were a bit dated with linen etc
Pros: It was great to be able to sit under the awning by the pool and talk with other guests. We had meals and drinks there, rather than sitting inside. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful, and the Hotel vs Volcano story is quite fascinating.
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff, not just reception and restaurant, but the cleaners, groundsmen and security. It was fantastic having outdoor tables to eat and drink by the pool, and being a central location to the grounds, we were able to meet some other lovely guests there. That the complex is still continuing to operate after the volcano eruption and years of falling ash is a tribute to the owners. It is about 1 kilometre from town/market, which is a nice walk, or you can catch a bus for about 50c.
Pros: Albert the local guide will find you out and he is ok. Beware, he is a local guide so dont expect agency level service (he or the driver will be late, if you take the boat trip most likely you will go woth him to buy fuel,...).
Cons: The hotel is old and would really need some serious refurbishment. The staff is very nice, but clearly not trained and together with the owner they are rather a happy family entertaining themselves at the expense of guests. Tv has 1 working channel. Shower almost electrocuted me. Instead of cleaning the room in one go when the guest is away they first come in the morning to collect the towels, then comes the bin, then ... (I had 5 visits one morning). I suggest not going when the staff/owner are celebrating some events as music starts at 6.30. Balcony door is so rusty that was almost impossible to open or close.
Pros: Nice location if you are interested in the Rabaul tourist offerings. Staff and restaurant is nice. Waitress offered to take me to her village near the volcano. Great experience.
Cons: The hotel is very dated and old. The bathroom needs to be renovated (sink leaked constantly, toilet was old, tile and shower were old and dirty looking). But you are in a remote part of a third world country, so don't expect much
Pros: Nice large room with good aircon.
Cons: Food was very expensive in the restaurant. I asked about tours offered from hotel and the prices were prohibitive. Plus the price I was told was double what was written in the folder. When I questioned this I was told prices had gone up but the hotel had not changed the book. I felt like I was getting ripped off.
Pros: Great Location, easy to organise everything from here great base for a great trip to the volcanos. Albert is great for organising tours, staff were very friendly and even learn your name. Pool is good and beer is well priced
Cons: No wifi, but hey your in a underdeveloped country in a rural area, you will survive, my suggestion is to get a local SIM card, and that will sort out this for you, you don't really need it anyway.

Pros: Already answered above.
Cons: Tower hook came off. Basin spout needs to be cleaned better.
Pros: We had ar really pleasant stay. Nice breakfast, good restaurants, friendly staff. Amazing and caring general manager. He was always there to help us and treated us with very delicious food.
Pros: Restaurant and breakfast are good
Cons: Very noisy with their casino at the first floor
Pros: I liked the spacious and comfortable rooms.the stsff were very helpful and breakfast was great. the restaurant is welcoming.
Cons: I didn't like the noise from the dance downstairs and how you have to walk around outside from the hotel club back to the inside. I have stayed there a couple of times and would like to see the security gruard open the gate to the Ralum club promptly. .
Pros: The friendliness of the staff and attention to detail. Pick up and drop off at/from the airport was professional and courteous. Hotel was immaculate as far as cleanliness was concerned an the facilities were first class.
Cons: More coffee and a little bit extra in the fridge. All channels on the TV were not working.
Pros: Entertainment (Club Coe) and the food (I'm talking about the pizza and the lunch specials). The staff are friendly and polite. I recommended my friends who travel in to come to stay at Gazzelle IH. It's a great place to 'hide away'.
Cons: I didn't like drinking my tequila shots off plastic cups. When you allow people in make sure they carry appropriate baggage, bouncers have to look closely at snatchers (these are kids who are still in secondary).
Pros: Bed was comfortable.
Cons: Room service with breakfast ordered was not up to standard.
Pros: The hotel was excellent, clean and tidy the staff very helpful and we received value for money
Cons: The showers were warm rather than hot otherwise everything excellent
Pros: The bed.
