Pros. Very picturesque - down a small side alley. As I understand it, these types of houses were the norm 100+ years ago in Japan. Great location ear markets/shopping/art and crafts. Great atmosphere Tatami mats, old wooden beams and pretty courtyard tiny garden. Modern kitchen and bath with VERY deep tub. Hot water plentiful. Small but efficient washer/dryer.Renters are super nice with excellent English.Nothing bad to say at all - just be aware of some of the limitations of choosing this type of accommodation. Daily cleaning was included, but must be requested.
Cons. Not a complaint per se, but this style means not for anyone with limited mobility. If I was going to stay more than a few days I would greatly miss not having normal chairs and table to sit at. Back was killing me. Only one bathroom very inconvenient. The walls are very thin, others were very quiet. I just hope we weren't too loud. It would be a challenge to keep warm over wintertime. Part of its historical nature - just be aware.
