See hotel page Located in the beautiful Sologne countryside, Gregory CHEVRIER welcome you at L'Ore des Chnes, The Originals Relais provides guests with a one-of-a-kind experience. An old farmhouse that's been transformed in a 26-room hotel, the site has been designed to be a personal living space dedicated to recreation, featuring a hunting estate where game is prepared in a three-fork, Michelin Guide restaurant, a farm, farm animals, and three ponds where guests can fish.
Pros: We loved walking in the park and meet the animals! Very nice and quiet place...
Pros: Kids loved the open spaces and the animals. It is a convenient position to avoid the city, but still stay close. The nearby villages are also interesting.
Cons: I am quite unhappy about this stay for various reasons. Primary problem was the bed with a stinky matrass and pillows. We were there during very hot days and with no air conditioning the room proved to be uncomfortable. It is a country structure, so don't expect spot clean rooms, but the mini pool was full of leaves and insects. The minibar in the room offers some refreshments but at a crazy prize. We were not impressed by the restaurant, with very limited choice and anyway not great for our tastes.
Pros: Calm and nice
Pros: Nice place, big and quiet, .. breakfast could be more about vegans and the room might be bigger or more luxery for that prive. But hey, very Nice and clean !! Wonderfull property
Pros: The room was quiet, also very private. The staff were very helpful.
Cons: The croissants were cooked too much on a couple of mornings.
Pros: The hotel was very attractive and set in beautiful grounds. The dinner was excellent and the staff very friendly.
Cons: The room was on the small side. I bumped my head on the ceiling when I got up in the night. The hot breakfast tray was only warm when we ate at 8:30am.
Pros: L'Oree des Chenes is a 4 star hotel consisting of 3 low slung chalet style buildings set in a large park which includes a separate enclosure for sheep, goats and wildfowl. It is very quiet and the rural peace soon has a calming effect. I have used this hotel on several occasions and it never disappoints. The restaurant is in effect 'fine dining' - albeit sometimes a little contrived. My starter of foie gras "panne" was served with raspberries which have too strong a flavour and overpower the delicate taste of the foie gras. The main course of monkfish was excellent but the rather bland accompanying sauce did bring to mind (unfairly) wallpaper paste. For the record the breakfast buffet could not be better (for me at least). I would certainly go again - if they will have me!
Cons: No complaints.
Pros: Beautiful and Serene setting. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. Parking was easy and the pool was great. The location was perfect, only a 40 minutes drive to chateau Chambord.
Pros: As a hotel, this place is delightful. Set in a large park, the surroundings are peaceful and idyllic. Swans and ducks populate a large pond, small flocks of goats (or sheep, I've seen previously) wander the park. The place is quiet, attractive and altogether charming.
Cons: The sound-proofing of the rooms could be improved, particularly vertically, and the pillows are too soft! Finally, the restaurant, while good, has never quite lived up to its own pretensions. There are good ideas, and certainly very good products, but the end result isn't always quite satisfactory.
Château De La Ferté Saint Aubin is situated in La Ferté-Saint-Aubin and offers a terrace. The property has garden views and is 33 km from Saran. The accommodation is fitted with a kitchen. A continental breakfast is available each morning at the bed and breakfast. Château De La Ferté Saint Aubin offers a children's playground. Guests at the accommodation can enjoy hiking nearby, or make the most of the garden. Orléans is 21 km from Château De La Ferté Saint Aubin, while Lamotte-Beuvron is 15 km from the property.
Pros: The large amount of available space. Excellent breakfast. Privacy. Responsiveness of staff.
Cons: Inadequacy of heating in bedroom and total lack of heat in bathroom - unacceptable in November. No tea/coffee-making facilities in bedroom. Shortage of comfortable seating.
Cons: I hate to complain about anything, because it's so lovely, but breakfast the second day was not as complete as the first day. No fruit and no petit puffs (which I loved!).
Pros: The staff was very friendly and the continental breakfast was very good.
Cons: We understand the owners are working to restore the property, and it is obviously a historical treasure. Our stay was comfortable and staff very friendly, but the photos misrepresent the condition of the building. Also, the check-in was very confusing. Their is no reception desk and no obvious person to speak with upon arrival. Once we did find the gentleman who was in charge though, he was very kind and helpful.
Pros: It was like staying in a museum. A very unique experience. Maybe not for everyone but I love it.
Pros: This place is an obvious 10 out of 10, it's so fabulous and we are all so lucky to be able to stay in such an incredible castle. Also met the owner who was a really nice guy. Incredible place to stay and must be back! Thank you for this unique experience. Highly recommended.
Pros: Breakfast by candle light (we had an early start) A unique place to stay.
Cons: Room was cold, that said it was late in the season
Pros: Beautiful setting, very quiet, wonderful atmosphere, amazing period bathroom facilities.
Cons: It rained.
Pros: Beautiful Castle open to the public, so interesting to view. A unique accommodation experience for the night. The breakfast was delicious served in a beautiful room with eqisite crockery, nice touch. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Cons: We would have liked tea/coffee making facilities in the room, a simple addition. Unfortunately the bath needs to be renovated as looks unclean due to condition therefore didn't wish to use it, but excellent shower.
Pros: The location of the room within the chateau itself Wow!
Cons: Nothing - it was beyond perfect !
Pros: Our hosts were so gracious and accommodating. We arrived on a Sunday when most restaurants are closed, and they so kindly made reservations for us at a lovely restaurant nearby that was open.
When you stay at Hostellerie du Château les muids in La Ferte-Saint-Aubin, you'll be 8 minutes by car from Chateau de la Ferte-St-Aubin. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. This hotel has 2 meeting rooms available for events. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Was great for our dogs . Lovely walking in the grounds .
Pros: The starter of smoked haddock was delightful. The location was beautiful and easily accessible from the motorway.
Cons: Wifi speed very slow indeed. No signal on TV. Very little information in hotel room. No alcohol in minibar. Shower appliance only hand held. Carpet rod missing on staircase. Main course of joue de porc was rather cold and under seasoned.
Pros: The Castle itself ..
Pros: The property took payment in advance presumably because so many people are disappointed. On arrival the used laundry was piled up outside the door to the room. The room was old and tired the bed sheets had numerous insects on them and the room smelt strongly of disinfectant. The grounds were not well kept and the member of staff on reception seemed to find the arrival of guests an inconvenience. The room rate was £122 which was on par with other hotels we stayed in this week but the standard was far lower.Suffice to say we walked out and did not return .As we were on holiday I could not be bothered to argue and put the the £122 down to experience.
Pros: The ambiance, tranquility, Pool area, laid-back atmosphere. Very good food in restaurant.
Cons: Staff were all very nice but service is a bit it slow. Rooms are very warm with no air conditioning anywhere. Unfortunate for us as very hot week Pool area more than makes up for it
Pros: Very friendly staff and beautiful chateau and gardens.
Cons: Dinner was good but a little disappointing.
Pros: The beds were very comfortable. We were very pleased with the cleanliness of the linen and the room. The location was charming. The staff were very helpful and their demeanour was friendly and very polite. The meal in the restaurant of the Chateau was delicious and served promptly with explanations for each course. Breakfast was varied and there was a very good choice of savoury and sweet. The Chateau was interesting historically and in good decorative order. We both loved our stay. We will definitely be visiting again.
Cons: The internet was poor but that is not the fault of the Chateau. There are frequent problems with reception in France in our experience.
Pros: Our room was amazing and the bed incredibly comfortable
Cons: There wasn't anything we didn't like
Pros: Everything was great
