Wonderful location, very good restaurant for lunch or diner, silence In our opinion, quality during breakfast was related with staff responsible for that, first day breakfast was really good and we expected the same second day, but the person responsible for that was not interested in quality, it was lack of everything, guests had to still ask for replenishment of products
Unique hotel in the caldera of the volcano. Good facilities, nice restaurant. Romantic atmosphere. On Friday, the lecture on astronomy. Disconcerting lack of air-conditioners. May be it one of the most amazing places.
This is an amazing place to stay The food was expensive, but I enjoyed my goat. The hotel is very remote and they have their own generator
The fantastic location, the peace and quiet, and being able to see millions of stars in a crystal clear sky. No english channels on T.V., no air conditioning. It was too warm to have the window closed, but due to severe winds for 48hours we had to.
Excellent location...helpful staff....good dining
Friendly staff. View of Tiede volcano in our decent sized standard room. Breakfast extra but excellent hot& cold buffet, always prepared to cook alternatives (scrambled, poached, omlettes etc). Perfect location for hiking. Hotel has telescope available to take to car park and look at marvellous clear night sky. Open fires in lounge and breakfast/dining room. Most tourist buses went to the cafeteria next door and all returned down the mountain by 5pm. dinner menu was ok but not inspiring. Alternative restaurants are a long way down the mountain (but the whole reason for going was the location, being at 2500m above the clouds, walking in lava fields in the caldera, not looking for a gourmet experience). No computer internet available but staff allowed me to use slow office computer to check in for return flight home. (not ideal for checking hiking routes on Google Earth)
The position of the hotel on an active volcano is something very special and an experience not to be missed.
Beautiful location within the park and easy access to surrounding trails, but certainly need a car to get there. Breakfast was good with fresh fruit, breads, and espresso machine! We ordered dessert one night and it was not very good.
The location speaks for itself, but the facilities and comfort levels were also excellent. Restaurant was good, the staff friendly and helpful and the pool with views of Teide a welcome bonus!
In a quiet location close to the Town Hall, this is a fine small hotel in one of Tenerife's nicest, unspoiled, towns. The restaurant serves decent food, the hotel is very nicely presented in traditional Spanish style around a central courtyard, and the staff are both friendly and helpful. No fan or air conditioning in bedroom.
Its central position, excellent service, food, comfort, and the total ambience was amazing. Wonderful stay. Nothing that comes to mind
the staff were super. 1 of us lost our Iphone & she helped translate the fax we needed to send to the airport. The patio off our room was super & allowed the 4 of us to catch up over our own drinks & snacks in a lovely environment.
The two recptionists/waitresses were very friendly and welcoming, not just to Rural Victoria, but also Oratava Little evidence of "management" or cohesive awareness of hotel guests (apart from above). Hoped for excellent cuisine but disappointed.
The food in the evening was excellent and the hotel was situated in a pleasant town The parking at the hotel was poor and in peak season there would not be enough. The breakfast wa limited especially when compared with the evening food
The room which we were eventually allocated was reasonably comfortable but was not the suite which we had booked for a romantic Valentines weekend. (we had confirmation of our booking)They originally tried to put us in a twin room after making us wait for over an hour for it to be cleaned.. We didn't get the room which we booked. We couldn't have dinner in the hotel on either night as it was fully booked.(we were never offered the option of booking). The breafast was very poor despite being there at 8.30 am.There never seemed to be more than one member of staff on duty
Good dinner menu from chef Richard Etherington. Traditional Canarian hotel, internal balconies, lots of wood, full of character. Nice roof garden. Multilingual staff spoke Spanish, English, French & German. Located in the old town away from the bustle. Much nicer than the concrete nightmares on the coasts!! We were there to go hiking but La Orototava is a lovely town which is worth exploring. Room was very dark but avoid room 104, the busy kitchen back door is just below the window (which needs to be open for air). If there is a function downstairs, like on Friday 6th Nov our last night , there is no soundproofing from the festivities below. Breakfasts not as good as dinner, manager happily made scrambled eggs but next day kitchen staff said "not possible". Not easy to park near hotel normally but situation much worse in November when the Commune blocked off the street to renew the pavements. La Orotava one way system is a challenge, so make sure your GPS map is up to date and memorise the route after the first time!!
The location,The Victoria is situated in the hilly town centre of La Oritava with its gardens, historic buildings and interesting shopping. streets. Rooms at the front of the Victoria a subjected to unpleasant street/traffic noise especially noticeable during the night.Ask for a room at the rear of the hotel where you will only hear the church bells chime and the village cock at dawn. The multi linguistic management is friendly and obliging.
The dinner produced by Richard Etherington was absolutely superb. Parking extremely difficult and the hotel staff were unhelpful to the point of indifference. Some constructive advice would have made a big difference.
Excellent location in non-tourist town. Beautiful historic interior. Great staff. Great value. Good restaurant. Free on-street car parking not too hard to find nearby.
Very friendly and helpful staff in all areas. Guest receive good hospitality and food at reasonable prices in a town with few places to eat. Comfortable rooms especially the suit, which is the old chapel. Breakfast is a little basic. Good base to see the town which can be done in a day.Bar closes at 10pm. No parking so park in road leading to cathederal the less than 10 min walk.Other choice is the Victoria which has a fine small restaurant which one would need to book.
Very pleasant and welcoming staff, good service. Room a bit noisy with the street right next door, but the double windows helped.
Rustic charm, beatiful atmospheric building, very nice food. Rustic plumbing!
Quality , value for money Difficult walk into town
very good location and excellent food not friendly reception staff, absence of wi fi, ocean pool didn't work in October
Food was excellent People using the dining room at dinner time wearing shorts and flip flops, this is not ideal for a 5 star hotel in the evening. The internet wi fi is advertised on bookings.com as free but it is about 2 euros for half an hour!
I liked the quantity and the quality of the food and the swimming pool near by the sea. Also, I liked very much the politely of the staff, the view of the room and the location of the hotel. Unfortunately, the staff didn't spoke english good enough...
1. its location on top of the cliff, the phantastic ocean view --- 2. the large outdoor pool facilities --- 3. the food buffet with enough fruit (which you often don't find in Tenerife) --- 4. the overall good price-quality relationship 1. Sadly, this is no longer a 5-star hotel. --- 2. The hotel should offer WIFI internet access for free (facilities exist) or at a reasonable rate; the current pay-per-use costs are much too high. --- 3.
Great lucation, big rooms, good service The only thing that little disterb me was that on the evening,at dinner the hotel took charge even on the water
View from the window is AMAIZING!!!! dinner is really really nice!!!! Puerto de la Cruz is beautiful city but not unless you want to have a lot of fun and good nightlife. it's better for calm holydays. way to the beach is toooo long((( and get back even harder because you have to go up all the time
The view from the room was exceptional, nothing but the atlantic ocean. The food was good and there was a wide variety to choose from. Teamaking facilities would have been nice. Although a 5 star hotel, needs updating, although very clean it is a shame that it is looking a little worn.
the rooms were very good and breakfast too
Shoud not be a 5 star. more a 3 stars. need to look at the hotels down south to see what a proper 5star hotel is like. was excited about my trip but was disappointed
Great views, very good breakfasts (don't know about any other meals), close to town centre. Very noisy room. I'd expect a 4 start hotel to be a little more cleaner (I blame the management, not the maids). If you get a room with sea view you'll probably enjoy you're stay even with the limescale in the shower and some stains on the bathroom ceiling.
Nice hotel, easy access from the main road. A little bit far from the sea but it is not an issue when you have a rented car. Overall, good value for the money.
Very clean, good service, good breakfast and friendly personnel.
The hotel was luxurious, the rooms special, the dining food very good and staff were very attentive. No
It is the best hotel that we stay in. It isn't cheap but it is outstanding! Paying the bill :-) However, you do get what you pay for.
cleanliness of the room, bathroom and even balcony - efficiency of the staff at reception desk and room service - presence of the manager - wonderful gardens - wonderful spa facilities - nice restaurants etc. etc. it's an excellent hotel the service at the "summer-pool-side restaurant" is rather slow - but you're on holidays ;-)
We enjoyed the extremely good service we received. The swimming pool was heated to a temperature that was very pleasant. We both had very good massages in the spa. We felt the only thing missing was the provision of tea and coffee making facilities in our room.
Everything - thye warm atmospher, the services (including the night programs),the food and the facilities Non
comfort, space, food, spa, large bedroom, met nice people, very well organised and lastly staff and management attending to detail and very nice with it
The predominating reason for choosing this hotel (and for coming back to it and recommending it in spite of the high price) is its magnificent garden. In general very friendly staff. Impressive breakfast buffet. All meals can be taken on the terrace at the pool and garden. For lunch and dinner, neither the (sometimes chaotic) service nor the food are consistently of the quality expected from a five stars hotel. For example, on our last evening in the hotel, I ordered salad bar as starter and steak with chips as main dish. The chips were delivered whilst I was serving myself at the salad bar and were thoroughly cold by the time the steak arrived. The steak was well done whilst I ordered it red/rare. And above all, the waiter serving the steak didn't even notice that he spilled a few drops of dark red sauce on my new beige trousers. Internet access for guests not bringing their own computer is also very poor and expensive.
A beautiful hotel with everything that you would expect from a 5 Star hotel, but the very best thing was that you felt completly comfortable the minute you walked through the door. There was no awkwardness or need to adjust. This comfortable atmosphere was very much due to the staff.
I liked the decor, and the hole atmosphere of the hotel.
The situation was excellent and the staff were very friendly. The swimming pool was a very good size and the flowers lovely. Good position on coast and at edge of old town centre. Pleny of restaurants and bars within walking distance. We were shocked at the price for using the hotel car park which was 20euros per day with no reduction for our stay of 1 week - toral cost therefore 140euros. This made garaging more expensive than the car hire. Also the buffet dinner was poor quality and expensive.
There was NO information about any facilities in the Hotel. The restoration was lovely, but booking a Hotel called a Spa should have those facilities available... OR state clearly at all points of booking that the Facilities are not yet ready. We were most disapointed.
the location and the view was very good.the food olso. the servies and the staff very good the bed was not comfortabel were from 2 bed
Design, comfort, geographical situation, very good breakfast Contrary to what is announced on the webpage, the Wi-Fi is not available in the rooms which are higher than 1st,maximum 2nd floor (the only signal emittor being situated in the reception hall).
The hotel has a great location and still under overall renovation. Therefore, Spa, parking and other services are not operating.
The staff were very nice and friendly, especially the waiters in the restaurant. We had breakfasts and dinners there and the food was excellent with a lot of varieties to choose from. On my birthday, they arranged my table with candles and delivered a birthday cake and a bottle of champagne. Before my check-out, the staff at the pool bar managed to teach me a delicious local sauce and she even gave me a piece of rose for friendship. I was so touched. Weekend nights the main bar had "Duo and Swing" and it was really fun. We also liked the location, so close to the tourist spots, but very quite and lovely views from the balcony and sea breeze. We had a great time there.
The position was good - an ideal base for exploring the town and the north of Tenerife. The sea view fron our room was lovely - perfect for people watching from the balcony. Car parking costs had been reduced fron 20 to 12 euros per day - a necessity if you have a car. Reception was a little slow at busy times. The buffet restaurant couldn't cope with the numbers at peak times. The food was ok for the price but tended to be lukewarm.
The room was extremely clean and the seaview fantastic. The hotel is situated in the centre but away from the noisy music bar corner. We enjoyed half-board and the food was fantastic. We would have liked to have international TV-channels like Eurosport. We did not like the staff trying to be funny by saying "terve, terve, mita kuluu" etc."in Finnish". It gives a cheap picture of the hotel (basic tourist two star jargon).
Location was very good, close to everything. Spa wasn´t open, some staff didn´t know what to do, food was appaling.
Nice and close to everything that the city can offer,, lack of parkingspaces. But thats a very common problem in tenerife in general.
The accomodation was very clean and comfortable. Good choice of food.
the staff was very friendly the food could be more children oriented
Excellent position Some of the room fitting were fairly old and damaged, notably the bedside light and the bath had rust patches which had been touched up ineffectively
It's position in the centre of town. Spacious public areas. Nice pool etc Dining room rather cramped
The hotel staff wasn't so nice exept the house keeper's.But the view from the balcony is beautiful. There wasn't problem with the stuff.
The location, entertainment, pleasantness of the dining room staff, entertainments staff and cleaning staff. The food was an acceptable standard however the variety of deserts and fresh fruit was very limited. The staff at reception were not very welcoming and curt on arrival and did not display the customer service attitude that one would expect/desire
Breakfast was good and plentifull. The hotel consept was for 60+ and most of the guests was 70+. The Hotel had sold for some congress a garden party with pool until 02.00 and the noise of it kept all other hotel guests wakeupp until 02.00
Location Some of the staff was quite rude
Big room, rich breakfast, nice view.
The hotel is not in the city of Puerto de la Cruz but close enough to be able to visit in 5 - 10 mins by taxi. It sits on a hill and has great views and great facilities, 3 pools, area for children, but its also quiet. No
Great hotel! Very good location, super friendly and helpfull staff. Nice, big room with spacious balcony. Quite far from the beach, but ideal for travellers who want to explore the island, easy access to the highway. Some peace and quiet away from the tourist centre! Nice food with local specialties and fresh fruit and vegetables. The car park is certainly big enough, except when a wedding or other event takes place in the hotel. The walls are very thin, a baby in the room next to us kept us awake for four nights. Rooms with Teide view suffer from the noise of the highway a bit, therefore the balcony doors have to stay closed at night, there is a good airco though, so this wasn't much of an issue.
it was one of the best hotels i have ever been, the hotel stuff is so nice and helpful , so kind and lovly they need to improve their food ... its the same food every breakfast and every dinner.
The size and the comfort of the room.
Everything was just perfect, could´nt find any fault.Value for money allround
The rooms are big and well equipped There was no A la carte restaurant. This is a 4* hotel and to only have a buffet style restaurant is a bit poor.
The evening staff in the reception, Isodoro and his colleague were great (friendly and helpful). Certain facilities, like the tennis court and the rackets/balls were poor and outdated. There was no gym which is strange for such a large hotel. The rest was great.
The staff was helpful at all times. The buffet breakfast diversity. On the website, the hotel seems to be outside of the town in the nature. In reality it stands on a hill among a town and busy highway. We expected something else.
All was ok, the service was good and was pleased we chose this hotel, I thought the food would be more Spanish-like however I liked the choice of dishes that we had everyday.
It is located at the central of Puerto de la Cruz, walking distance to old-city, hotel it self is situated right at the sea side, which give you a wonderful view from room It is really old hotel, even it has 4* you cannot really find them there... I would rather consider it as a budget accommodation.
Location and breakfast and dinner buffet Drinks were not included in the half-board price and we were forced to pay the exorbitant hotel prices to have something to drink with our dinner
In my room I missed a Mini bar an free WiFi connection
Staff is speaking french (doesn't help to have clear explainations on issues we had) - relatively quiet - close to highway : easy to drive from there to the main touristic and natural areas. We definitely not recommend this pretentious hotel Price we paid, 65 Eur/night, too much for Canary and for 2 star service and confort. Instead of room with view of the moutain, without explaination they gave us first a "bungalow" on floor -3 with view of another bugalow; it was stinking humidity and we asked immediately to change. They gave us another bungalow on floor -1 "as a favor" , this one with view of the sea. The tinty bathroom was stinking humidity and we never succeeded to have dry towel. Mattress is similar to what you can have in holiday camp. Plastic furniture on balcony used to be blank. Breakfast is very average (7 Eur/person) : the only one on the island without fresh fruit juice or at least bottles of juice. Dinner's worst ! Paying was a problem : no credit card receipt.
Although in a quiet part of the island, and needing a car if you are independent. (There is a free bus to Puerto de la Cruz). It was very accesible to all parts of the island. Hotel was good in all aspects although the food at dinner could have been hotter. All in all a good value for money Parking is a problem as there is no hotel car park but successfully found spaces free every day around the streets of the hotel.
The reception staff, the pools, quiet location, excellent free bus service into Puerto de la Cruz. The lack of a decent waiter service restaurant; totally over-run by Germans; poor, unhelpful to English, tour booking service.
The food, and the heated pool.
View, peace and quiet, availability of sun-beds. Lack of nearby facilities, shops, restaurants etc
Convenience for the purpose of our visit - daughter's wedding. Lots of space in our suite, excellent buffet breakfast, good bar and snacks service and the spa services we used were also very good. Full kitchen facilities if you wanted to self cater. Towels provided for the pool area. Finding a parking space can be tricky but we didn't enquire about using the hotel's undercover car park, as we did not know it was there until towards the end of our stay. Some of the sea view rooms are on the mountain side of the hotel with a view of the sea to one side and mountains to the other side, so do not overlook the swimming pool area. It would not have been an issue if we had booked the mountain view rooms. Double beds are 2 singles pushed together.
Big and complete room, beautifull view, swimming pool and the very usefull shuttle service to Puerto de La Cruz. The restaurants services: twice they brought me dishes different from what I ordered (at the swimming pool restaurant), once they did not bring our drinks (at the dinner restaurant) and at the bar our order was complitely ignored!
Friendly, helpful staff.
The location was slightly uphill however, afforded easy access to the general town area. Most of the staff were very old and did not speak enough English.
It was practical, clean & decent hotel, but next time I would prefer Puerto palace, which is better hotel for the same price.
The hotel staff were courteous and nothing was too much trouble.all minor glitches were soon dealt with The hotels positioning in the town I also felt was perfect.
Very nice and assistant personnel! Big cockroach in the hotel room! Air conditioning was not functioning at all.
food, location, close to main shopping mall and bus station. 10 min walk from the famous pool on the sea. the hotel is built on the mountain, so the second pool was on a high platform at almost the 5th floor level We found on our last day while packing a pack of gum that we never used under the table, meaning that that part was not cleaned for atleast 1 week... still the rooms were very clean other than that.
Staff made effort facilities somewhat worne out
We enjoyed every minute in the sol Puerto de la Cruz, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the food excellent
Close to the port and beach walking area, the hotel is in a good location. Even though it looks a little tired from the outside, not to worry the rooms are very clean and well laid out with enough amenities. Check in and out was fairly smooth. Hotel staff also helped us check that our flights were still operational due to airport closures. Parking also provided for rent-a-car guests like us. Overall a good experience, but we believe the safe should be standard and included in the room rate, rather than charging an extra fee for the same.
The hotel is located nicely 10 minutes walking from main streets of the city. It also has a nice lobby and fair buffet breakfast. Very close to the main bus stops so if you are not by car it is definitely a plus. We also had a good sea view from our balcony. The fitness room mentioned in the website was the worst I have seen so far with four machines in total where 3 of them was completely broken and the other one is utterly useless. Internet connection was ridiculously expensive with 4 euros for an hour. The main target range of the the hotel was 60+ guests so not many activities for young people.
The accommodation was comfortable and provided a relaxing atmosphere. Although the food was plentiful, it became monotonous.
Nice room with view of the pool
The Staff, They Where So Pleasant, Nothing Was Too Much Trouble And They All Seemed Happy At What They Where Doing No
Very clean room, great view to the ocean. We enjoyed so much breakfast and dinner, the staff was very polite and nice. Nice women at the reception, very helpful. Also very good manager. We made the reservation in January at a higher price and we paid their current price in November. We apreciate the high importance that they give to their clients. The fact that there were much more mature couples and old people than young couples, but that was not disturbing.
The friendliness of the staff and the location
Half-board, excellent meals especially with poor exchange No
We had a nice balcony. but tennis players whack balls back and forth all day long till 10:30. Some food was ok - big breakfast buffet if you like that sort of thing. Too far from the center - nothing around but a German pub - Uwe was fun tho! This hotel is very dated and very boring and btw - they cannot guarantee parking - our only reason we booked there.
Great place to base yourself for touring the North of Tenerife delightfull town pleany of shopping cafe's and generaly a great place to stay. I would recomend it to anybody, very friendly staff & great food. The local Church rings its bell quarterly from 8am untill 11pm not good if you want to sleep. ( not the Hotels fault.)
Excellent value for money, the restaurant had a good range of choices, they even provided us with some fruit when we arrived. The accomodation was a good size room with balcony. I strongly recommend this hotel. Absolutely nothing
The efficiency and politeness of the reception staff The buffet dinner was below standard on some items.
The View. It was about 10 minutes walk from a free car park. And you can't even pull-up outside to leave your cases... and my room never got any sun.
good location, lovely sea view from my room, the swimming pool was a nice touch No free carpark anywhere in sight, if you're planning to rent a car to get there, be warned! Also there was no fridge in the room, something I would expect in a so-called 4-star hotel. Not a 4-star standard, I'm afraid. Reception staff had poor English - it took 20 minutes to check me in!!!
Very helpful and polite staff. Evening entertainment poor and aimed at non Brits. No parking.
This is the third time we have stayed and the staff do not treat us as strangers. Excellent service.
The staff must try to speak english for those who dosent understand spanish
The setting and location . The guests were allowed in dining room at dinner time in shorts
The breakfast provided was very varied. The lady in the beauty salon downstairs by the pool area did fantastic massages. Central location. Though a great selection was provided for breakfast sometimes the hot food was not that hot.
We had a room on the 10th floor overlooking the Lido complex- woh, in the daytime but obviously noisier in the late evenings until the music died down along the promenade restaurants. Great room for the prce we paid for B and B though the breakfast was very average.. The beds were very uncomfortable and we both woke up each morning with backache. They also sounded like they were covered in plastic as they made an awful noise every time you moved. We did swim in the pool on both the afternoons we were there but the water was pretty chilly - it said it was 23 degrees. I can see why few people were using it!
Excellent location, excellent staff, face some language problem very few know working english language. Telephone charges of 3 euro for no calls.
