Extremely friendly and helpful staff, great location, nice view of the castle and cathedral right across the river, decent breakfast (included in the room price). Good value for money. We happened to be there during a 3-day fiesta, held virtually right outside, and the partying went on til 4am. Did I say loud? It's not the hotel's fault, of course, but worth checking if you plan on sleeping!
All the above plus secure parking. Having to pay extra for parking, and being told it was full for parking iniatially although it was very very obviously not.
Thw staff were pleasant and helpful;rooms light, airy, clean, and comfortable, with a lovely view.Good breakfast. Tea and coffee making facility in room would be good
The location and the friendliness of reception staff resturant not available
Good location. None.
Location and view of town, estuary, river, castle and mpountains in background. Plus helpfulness of staff
Really good location and facilties, lovely little town
The location close to the harbour and the city centre. Hardly any parking places close to the hotel. Best parking is in the harbour.
The only thing that I like about this hotel is it's central position in the town. I found that the staff were not very friendly, the room was dark and oppressive and the restaurant food left a lot to be desired.
Very friendly, helpful staff. Very satisfied
Stayed in this hotel last year with family for 2 nights and returned agin this year for a further 2 nights.
The hotel is conveniently located just off one of the main entrance roads to Comillas and it is just a few hundred meters away from the town’s centre. Staff was very kind and helpful. I had a large and very clean room. The free wi-fi connection was excellent. There is also free parking at the hotel which is great if you get to it by car. Breakfast was good. I definitely would stay there again. There was a swimming pool by my room window, at the ground floor, and people bathing there were making a bit of noise. Had to cope with it. But it was hardly a reason why I would not stay there again.
Decent WIFI, big lounge area, free parking, central in Comillas, room nothing special but not bad either TV signal was a bit weak
The village was very nice. There were some very nicerestaurants about 5 minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel should not have a 4 star rating. If you want a budget stay in the area it would be OK. The hotel had a restaurant, I am glad we did not use it for dinner. Breakfast was included in the hotel price but was very poor. The coffee was undrinkable and the selection of food available very poor.
Not very much. Totally un- appetising micro waved dinner courses which I found un- eatable.
Our room had a wonderful twin-view tiled balcony overlooking the town, palace, and several churches (very romantic) yet it was only a 5 minute walk to the centre of town ! Room was very clean and warm. Beautiful tiled bathroom. Breakfast was more than 'continental'. Free parking. A little tricky to find on narrow lane but worth it in the end.
The Hotel was convienient, the breakfast was good, as much as you wanted. Price was good for what was on offer. Staff and owners were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately our room appeared to smell a little damp at times, I think this was due to lack of extractor in the bathroom but unless you intend to spend a lot of time in the room this is not a huge issue.
Within easy walking distance of the town (5 mins.) Many places of interest to see. Fantastic views from hotel. Excellent breakfast. Hotel perfect but access narrow and steep. Also bar prices in the town are very steep compared with other towns on the Costa Verde.
good friendly and helpful staff.
We had a very nice friendly welcome from the family. The room was airy and bright, with re-furbished bathroom. No aircon but not a major problem. Breakfast was ample with good supply of hot coffee and toast.Very peaceful and relaxing. Difficult location to find with car, and possibly a challenge to anyone with walking difficulties.
Location. Peaceful location. Spectacular views of mountains and coast.
good position. Easy parking. Great views. Friendly staff. No problem with hotel. Difficult to find hotel when traveling from East. Sign post on wall at turn off has incorrect distance on it.
Beautiful scenery, lovely staff, gorgeous little beach nearby. Quite remote, no restaurant.
Excellent, nothing could be too much trouble, first rate hotel in a very beautiful area
Lovely quiet position on hilltop with views to sea at back of hotel and countryside and San Vicente de Barquera from the front. Only downside is that they do not offer dinner (just cold snacks) so unless you use a restaurant 2 mins walk from the hotel, you have to drive or take a taxi into town. Breakfast also is limited (just orange juice, tea/coffee, toast and cake)
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Organised places to eat and a taxi to bring us to town and to pick us up after hours. Breakfast was very good. Views from the hotel excellent. High standard of accomodation. Gave us a key to let ourselves in after hours.
This is a lovely hotel run by lovely people. Very pretty builiding and rooms in a very pretty area. The hotel is run by a very kind and friendly family that is very helpful. The rooms are beautiful. Rooms can be noisy at times due to thin walls.
Fabulous Family run Hotel, Spectacular views of the Picos de Europa and San Vicente. Hotel of the highest standard and very welcoming. A beautiful, tranquil and peaceful location. You do need a car for touring the area.and the hotel does not have a restaurant but there are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from in St Vicente itself.
Warm welcome from father & daughter, location just outside San V d.l.Barquerra, astonishing little cove with beach 1km away, handy for the coastal towns and beaches, an hour from Santander. Picos mountains an hour away in other direction. This is an immaculate hotel but b'fast is just minimum continental.
Upon arrival we were upgraded and had an enormous room and dito shower with amazing views. It is a very spacious castle where you start feeling relaxed immediately. Breakfast is very good, a nice variety of breads, cheeses, cereals, fresh fruits, ham, bacon and eggs with an Italian coffeemachine that at least makes you go twice! Easy parking too... The diner was obscenely overpriced for what it was (not!) worth...service was embarrassingly poor if not appalling for what you would expect at a four star hotel. Also, the hotel is not that easy to find!
This is a wonderful old house with great rooms, a relaxed ambience and exceptionally friendly and obliging staff. We had a two-bedroom apartment at the top of the hotel which was self-contained and very spacioius. Perfect for our family of 5 (3 young children). The kids loved it. The village is a good base for visiting the many seaside towns along the coast and for exploring the Picos de Europa.
Hotel location close to interesting and historic village within easy walking distance of a number of bars restaurants and shops. Difficult to find location of hotel, our sat nav could not find exact address. Bar but no restaurant at hotel.
I liked the design of the hotel and paintings. Easy to park the car just infront of the hotel. If you didn´t book breakfast you can easily add breakfast buffet for 6-7 Euros. It´s a very quiet hotel good to relax. Rooms are big with a small balcony. seems like there were no big beds available, just 2 seperate beds. I did not like the shower head.
There were horses in front of the hotel. Rooms were ok. Poor service. We booked specifically because it said laundry in the facilities but owner looked at us like we were crazy when asked about it. Charged an indecent amount for very bad supper. Large group was very noisy and waked us up on the way out.
We only stayed at this hotel for the one night, arriving at 8pm, and leaving at 10am the following morning. We found the place very clean and comfortable, in the few hours we were there. (this was the first stop over on our motorcycle tour of Northern Spain) If I had to be picky, it is that we had a bit of a late night, and had to knock up the owner of the hotel to let us in, and in the morning, I had to be let out by the owner, to go for an early walk. I feel we should have aour own key to come and go as we please. apart from that, all was ok. Ian See above
