When you stay at Casa Albertino in Valdaliga, you'll be near the beach, within a 5-minute drive of Playa de La Rabia and Oyambre Beach.
Pros: Beautiful views from the balconies, very nice terrasse in the front. The host kindly let us use it, brought us an umbrella, and we were able to eat our own food there. Very convient and made us feel at ease right away. Simple but tasty breakfast. Charming decoration with freshly cut hydrangeas, natural wood throughout, traditional colorful ceramic.
Cons: Not recommended for traveling with babies or young children: no crib available, and the only way to have access to a fridge is through the host who is not always on site nor available and does everything on his own- reception, cleaning, administration... Limited and late breakfast window, strong pungent wine/vinegar smell in the lobby. The "deluxe" rooms are not worth the extra cost though: it is very hard to open the curtains and the slanted ceiling make you feel cramped.
Pros: Nice quiet place with a beautiful view to the mountains and valleys, easy to find and no problem with parking.
Cons: Breakfast could be little bit better
Pros: Helpful staff and beautiful location
Cons: Quite a long walk to the beach, but worth it.
Pros: Lovely small hotel / guesthouse in the hills - perfect for exploring the Cantabrian area. Room was great with stunning view. Friendly host who did his best to understand our poor attempts to speak Spanish.. Delicious breakfast on the terrace.
When you stay at Posada La Vieja Escuela in San Vicente de la Barquera, you'll be by the sea, within a 5-minute drive of Santa Marina Golf and Playa de la Maza. Featured amenities include laundry facilities and coffee/tea in a common area. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: We loved te location, a bit remote but beautiful scenery!! We also loved the hosts, very accommodating and friendly! Breakfast was homemade and amazing!
Pros: Quiet location. Friendly welcome. Comfortable.
Cons: Payment process was confusing as it wasn't clear whether the 30% deposit had been taken. In the end we had to pay 100% as the owner couldn't find a record of this despite this being in our booking.com terms.
Pros: The hosts were warm and very welcoming. The gardens were well kept and pretty with lovely views. Breakfast was very tasty, homemade bruchetta type dish with Jamon, and tomatoes. Delicious homemade cakes and good coffee.
Cons: The room was very small, with little space to put our things. The bed was not very comfortable.
Pros: Perfect place! We really enjoyed our stay! Fantastic breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice, fantastic toasts with local ham and home made pastries. The place is extremely clean and it has bucolic view from the windows. It is placed close to the beaches and many bars and restaurants in the nearby town. Highly recommended!
Cons: All was perfect and very clean.
Pros: A quiet location and so easy to park.
Pros: The quiet location, great views, the lovely rooms and villa. Our host was friendly and attentive. Ideal location for exploring the area
Pros: The location was difficult to find but beautiful. We had birdsong and sheep bells and friendly, kindly hosts.
Pros: My husband and I travel extensively. This is the cleanest property that we’ve ever stayed. The owners are lovely with an old world devotion to service, helpfulness and good manners. Seating both inside and out on a hill that overlooks green pastures. I could go on. Let’s just say worth every penny and minute of your time.
Located in Comillas, Abba Comillas Golf Hotel is by the sea, within a 15-minute walk of Fuente de los Tres Canos and Palacio de Ocejo. Featured amenities include a business center, express check-in, and express check-out. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Fantastic staff particularly Ursula. For instance we left item of clothing in dining room without realising and they went out of their way to make sure that it was returned. Good position and excellent facilities.
Cons: Breakfast starts at 08.00. Could consider slightly earlier start since large numbers seem to descend at 08.00hrs with set walking tours etc. Otherwise one of the friendliest hotels I have experienced
Pros: The staff of the hotel is exceptionally friendly and helpful.
Cons: The internet connection did not work sometimes
Pros: The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Cons: The hotel was a long hike towing suitcases and hand luggage uphill from the town centre as there were no taxis available. The shower had very little water pressure.
Pros: Really good breakfast.
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful especially the two ladies working in the breakfast /bar room the view from the room was sea and hills fantastic
Pros: The hotel is spotless and staff very nice. Very fresh breakfast in the morning with plenty of fruits baked goods as well as cereals. The only downside and it's a small one is that it's €15 charge for two to use their spa this is basically a cornered off section of the swimming pool.with a jacuzzi and sauna not really a spa. The gym was well equipped and the pool area quite nice
Located in Comillas, Hotel Comillas is in the historical district, a 4-minute walk from Palacio de Sobrellano and 6 minutes by foot from El Capricho de Gaudí. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The staff were welcoming and helpful. The reception and restaurant clean and comfortable. The grounds were pleasant and there was adequate parking. The breakfast buffet had a good variety of food.
Cons: The bed was uncomfortable and the room bland and little in need of updating. The room was noisy as there were apartments above where the occupants drag furniture across their floor at all times of the day and night.
Pros: Great location
Cons: Very poor bathroom ventilation, and lack of hot water kettle.
Pros: Staff at reception very friendly.
Cons: Unfortunately the hotel didn't have a menu to select from on the evening that I arrived. They had a group already booked in for the night so I had to eat what they had preselected to eat. It was ok but the main course was not what I would have selected for myself. For a 4 star hotel I would have expected to be able to choose what I wanted to eat.
Pros: Only stayed one night while touring. This is the second time I have stayed here. Good clean comfortable room in a good location just a short walk from the main town. Excellent breakfast - lots of choices including hot food. I did not use the restaurant for an evening meal as it was closed on the Sunday evening, but plenty of choices a short walk away.
Pros: Good location, super clean, great shower, super comfortable beds
Pros: Comfortable room and bathroom about 10 mins walk from town on the Camino de Santiago. Very obliging staff.
Cons: The room I booked smelled of cigarette smoke so they upgraded me to a double room instead, my review would have been very different if they hadn't been able to change my room.
When you stay at Faro de San Vicente in San Vicente de la Barquera, you'll be near the beach, within a 5-minute drive of Castillo del Rey and Playa de la Maza. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage.
Pros: position, staff and all the small actions that make a stay memorable were here. we would go a little out of our way to stay in this hotel if in the area again.
Cons: would have been nice to have a safe and fridge in room otherwise perfect
Pros: comfortable hotel - great location. Nice bar and restaurant. Staff friendly and helpful
Cons: Storage for mobility scooter would have been nice with access to power point. The garage was okay - but couldnt charge battery
Pros: Excellent location overlooking the estuary with views of the castle,/old town, causeway etc and only a short walk into town where there are plenty of bars, restaurants etc. Lovely, expansive terrace out front - great place to sit with a G & T! Initially we thought that the breakfast was too expensive so went elsewhere but for the last 2 days we partook and it was excellent and actually good value given the extent of the buffet. But if you just want a coffee & croissant then maybe still best to look elsewhere, or use the attached café. Considering the setting bar prices are also very reasonable. Rooms are spacious with great views on the front but I would avoid rooms on the back. Would be happy to stay there again.
Cons: Parking is a problem - none on site, street parking is difficult and the municipal car park across the road is expensive - we were on 2 motorcycles and managed to find a space on a wide section of pavement in view of our room. Fortunately, unlike the UK, this is generally accepted in Spain and mainland Europe provided you are not causing a blatant obstruction so all good if not entirely secure.
Pros: Location and helpful staff. Very good breakfast too.
Pros: Bed is comfy and perfect location to stay in San Vicente
Cons: We stay on 2nd floor room no. 209. Bathroom smell was awful. We've tried to leave ventilation fan working but it doesn't help.
Located in Comillas, Hotel El Tejo is on the beach, a 5-minute walk from Palacio de Sobrellano and 8 minutes by foot from Palacio de Ocejo. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, a 24-hour front desk, and an elevator.
Pros: Great beds, air conditioning, bathtubs and right on the Camino Norte. Very quiet at night. Good location near restaurants and shops. We will stay there again!
Pros: Very clean and comfortable
Cons: The breakfast was horrendous- Nescafé in Spain? Diluting orange squash? Yuck
Pros: Very comfortable, nice clean room, a beautiful sitting area outside, staff was very helpful , a perfect place to stay in Comillas
Pros: Nice and clean hotel. Friendly staff. Great value for the money.
Pros: Friendly welcoming staff and comfortable room on Camino del Norte
Cons: There was nothing I didn't like. I would recommend this hotel
Located in Val De San Vicente, Hotel Rincón de Antón is a 1-minute drive from Cueva El Rejo and 9 minutes from Ferreria de Cades. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: We arrived as a group of three mature bikers from the ferry at Santander. From the moment we arrived at this quiet hotel we could not have been made more welcome, although more Spanish lessons wouldn’t have gone a miss. The husband and wife team cooked us the menu of the day and we ate like kings, along with Vino Tinto and a couple of beers. After a comfortable nights sleep we were treated to a fresh buffet breakfast and were waved off to our next destination. This hotel is in a small village and the only place for drink and food, but you will not be disappointed and is a better ride from Santander than taking the A8 !!
Pros: The staff are fantastic, friendly and with great attitude towards kids. The hotel is nicely located in a quiet area, with easy access to the points of interests. The hotel has a nice lobby with sofas.
Cons: Our 3-person room was way too small as for a tipical room for 3 people. Moreover, as we got a room above the kitchen our comfort was additionally decreased. The bathroom is very basic, there is no even a rack for towels.
Pros: Great hosts, friendly atmosphere and wholesome food.
Pros: Clara and the kitchen were especially helpful with adapting the half board menu for the food allergies in our group
Cons: 8.30 to 10.30 was a little late for us to eat but its only a personal preference and not a problem
When you a stay at Josein in Comillas, you'll be on the beach, within a 5-minute walk of Comillas Beach and Parque Guell y Martos. Featured amenities include luggage storage and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: One of our favourite stops on our twice yearly trips to Spain and Portugal. Who could resist the location, rooms literally hang over the beach.
Cons: They weren’t able to fit us in for an extra night, never mind, we’ll be back another time.
Pros: The location of the property is just right on the beach. The interior is modern, lots of light. The bedrooms are very comfortable, with views to the beach.
Cons: I like everything
Pros: old fashion but amazing location right over the sea. don't hesitate to book a room with terrace.
Pros: Wonderful location with sea view. Walking distance to to town
Cons: Reception could have told us that the restaurant was open in the evening offering a limited menu. We were under the impression that the restaurant was closed.
Pros: Excellent location, sea view rooms where fabulous. Walking distance to local restaurants. Great stay.
Cons: Little bit dated, could do with a freshen up.
Pros: Quiet, comfortable even though right next to a beautiful beach. Windows open wide so we went to sleep to the sound of the surf.
Pros: Location, location, location! Lovely to be so close to the beach and only a short walk into the town. We thought breakfast was pretty good value. A great place to explore Gaudí’s El Capricho which is only 10 minutes away.
Cons: Our room smelt a bit musty, think it’s because of the high humidity that nothing completely dries out. I agree with others that it’s only a 4 star hotel because of it’s location.
Pros: Lovely room overlooking the ocean
Cons: No negatives
Pros: Location, location, location
Cons: As it was such close to the breakers the humidity in the room was quite high - but then again that’s just like it’s supposed to be.
A stay at Hotel El Canton places you in the heart of San Vicente de la Barquera, within a 5-minute walk of San Vicente de la Baruqera Town Hall and Castillo del Rey. Featured amenities include express check-out, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and a 24-hour front desk.
Pros: we were traveling the Camino de Santiago We had walked 30 kms thar day and we were exhausted . the lady who checked us in, greeted us, was just so kind and efficient; friendly etc. etc.
Cons: absolutely nothing. No complaints.
Pros: Central location, right in the heart of town. Minutes from the shops, harbour and historic sites.
Cons: On the weekend it’s quite noisy - but hey this is Spain.
Pros: The location is great - walking distance from the city center and just 5 min. drive to the beach.
Cons: The room is really small and so is the bed.
Pros: Greeted by very kind lady on reception who took us to our great rooms. Plenty of space in bedroom and bathroom. Good location, slept well.
Pros: The staff was excellent and incredibly flexible and attentive. The chocolate croissants at breakfast. A terrace was a nice surprise. The bed comfortable. Great location.
Cons: It didn’t feel very clean. It felt okay clean but not super clean, like wood floors not spotless like I expect. Older hotel with some of the floorboards felt like they would break when I walked on them. There was a pot of potpourri flowers that smelled strong to me. Shower was crazy small and had a weird contraption that I’ve never seen before.

Pros: The staff were very helpful and friendly at the hotel. The rooms were bright and airy and cleaned daily. The breakfast was an added bonus and well worth the money.
Pros: Perfect location just next to the surfing beach. Free parking.we could bring surfboards to the room. Spent only one night so can't evaluate more.
Cons: The room smelled of smoke.
Pros: Near the beach.
Cons: Very noisy HVAC equipment going all night long.
Pros: Walking distance to the beach, there are few shops/restaurants close to the hotel. Breakfast buffet was really good. Very nice inside patio to relax with your drink.
Cons: You have an option to pay for parking in front of the hotel. We decided not to pay as there are no security measures in the parking so it's the same as parking on the street.
Pros: All the meals we had at PDM were excellent, served with very fresh ingredients and by friendly staff. The location is great for the surfing and family beaches only 100 metres or so. The walk into the main town is about 20-30 minutes just over the linking bridge. On-site, paid for parking, takes the headache out of parking although the main surfing beach carpark seemed to have unlimited parking spaces.
Cons: We had a room that faced inwards towards the rear and the facing apartments that was a little noisy at night. There's also no air conditioning.

Pros: the hotel was amazing . we travelled on three motorcycles which we parked in their underground car park, the hotel is modern and spotlessly clean , breakfast was great , staff were amazing and very helpful, I will be staying here again when in the area
Cons: everything was perfect
Pros: Fantastic views from room. Very quiet. Comfortable beds.
Cons: Located at top of very steep hill so always took car into town - had no problem parking in October but might be more difficult in full season. Breakfast only adequate for money.
Pros: Superb views and lovely room, very helpful staff
Cons: Quite a walk up hill after dinner
Cons: Wifi not possible in rooms
Pros: Nice location, high above the town, great view from the room. The walk back up the hill to the hotel will keep you fit!
Pros: From our room, we enjoyed a magnificient view over the bay where one can just sit watching the tide coming in. The hotel itself ist located nicely outside of the town's hotspot, very calmly, yet only 5 minutes walk to the vibrant centre with its restaurants. The staff is friendly and tires its best even if you don't speak Spanish.
Cons: The breakfast is not the best you ever had, but it has fresh orange juice and local sweets and it is surely sufficient to start a nice day. Cheese, sausage, and jams can be improved.

Pros: Perfect location, the couple who own it are very friendly and helpful, I came in after a morning surf too late for the breakfast, they still got me a nice breakfast :)
Pros: We drove a bit around in the village to find the place but the house is nice. Room is really clean. You can walk 5-10 min and enjoy a quiet time and sunset by the sea (there is no beach). Only 7 min drive to Comillas.
Cons: I don't think we got served the full breakfast as we only had one toast, a juice, a coffee and couple biscuits. We waited expecting for more but eventually stood up and left but the hosts didn't say anything.
Pros: Beautiful rustic property and rooms with modern charm. Very hospitable and friendly hosts.
Cons: Rustic wooden floors are very noisy as was the plumbing. It sounded like the floor above got up to clog dance every night and then opened a set of flood gates.
Pros: Everything was comfortable and convenient. Nice simple breakfast. House was quite authentic.
Cons: A bit far from Comillas. You need a car to get there. Old wooden floors and stairs were very noisy, we could hear every neighbour walking in the corridor.
Pros: Peaceful location, good views
Pros: Very quiet, cute little guest house. Very friendly staff, comfortable room. Great value for price. Would return if we were int he neighborhood. There was also enough parking space next to the property too.
Cons: It was a bit hard to find the location as the GPS points slightly to the wrong place. The secret is to drive all the way up on the street.
Pros: We loved the accommodation from the kind landlady to the picturesque surroundings. The communal lounge overlooking the view was cosy and weljcoming.
Cons: The showet cubicle had a curtain which made showering wet the whole area. Breakfast was very basic.
Located in Comillas, La Montañesuca is near the beach, within a 5-minute walk of Fuente de los Tres Canos and Palacio de Ocejo. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage.
Pros: We are walking the cameno so room comfort is paramount and this hotel is just OK. Price was also to much for the room at 60€.
Cons: Cost at60€ is too high compared to others along the cameno
Pros: The owner is friendly and helpful.
Pros: Clean, cosy bedroom. Good bed. Friendly guy running the place.
Cons: Breakfast not the best. Maybe there was fruit and it was my mistake to not ask for it.
Pros: Spacious characterful room. Welcoming owner.

Pros: A true pensione on a quiet street, completely safe, coffee/tea/toast/juice included. Steep street, close to little plaza with several restaurants.
Pros: A lovely, traditional hotel in a beautiful setting.
Pros: Everything was perfect
Pros: Quaint and beautiful setting within the village
Cons: Having to carry suitcase upstairs after walking 20+ km on the Santiago Camino.
Pros: Great location, lovely host, gorgeous and clean room. Very accommodating to my special requests.
Pros: Location, Location, Location.
Cons: Price / Quality ratio was low.
Posada Punta Liñera is set within a country estate, 2 km from San Vicente de la Barquera town centre. It offers rooms with private bathrooms and flat-screen TVs. There is a selection of popular seafood restaurants in San Vicente’s old town, 20 minutes’ walk from the hotel. The beaches at La Braña are just over 2 km from the Posada. Pros: A really lovely property in a great location. The posada sits in quiet countryside with fantastic sea views, yet the heart of the town is within easy reach. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. The room was tastefully decorated and furnished. We appreciated being able to make a cup of tea or coffee.
Cons: Nothing negative to report
Pros: Beautiful property with lovely views. Walkable to town but hilly. Lovely room with bathroom. Showers were hot and good pressure. All day coffee and tea.
Pros: Brilliant location if you don't mind a 15 minute walk into town or the hill on the way back, or alternatively a three minute drive. The views from the rooms are excellent and the hotel is really relaxing because of its relative isolation. Nice hearty breakfast of assorted bread, cakes, fruit, ham, cheese and plenty of tea coffee and juice. Very good value for money, one of the cheapest in San Vicente. Friendly staff despite the language barrier! Fantastically clean and really comfortable bed.
Cons: Room was a trifle small but the price reflected this.
Pros: Beautiful property on edge of town.
Cons: It was a bit farther of a walk than expected, but was easy and beautiful in the Spanish weather.
Pros: Everything, beds were really comfy, staff were fab, value for money excellent, fab terrace with table and chairs, all great. Location very good.
Cons: We liked everything. And would return.
With a stay at Palacio Guevara in Valdaliga, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Playa de El Tostadero and Santa Marina Golf. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby and a 24-hour front desk.
Pros: The hotel is a mansion welcoming you into a beautiful conservatory and with sitting areas with antics on each level. Very friendly staff. Great breakfast and dinner in beautiful area. Comfortable room with charm.
Cons: The plumbing is a bit tired and some barking disturb our sleep.
Pros: Beautiful hotel! The staff was very friendly and the room was something special.
Pros: We liked the hotel building, the style. We had a great lunch just after we arrived. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Pros: The pueblo is nice and has nice views! The restaurant was really good and a great value! I would recommend eating there. The staff was very nice and the hotel is nicely decorated the room had nice tall ceilings and we really enjoyed our stay. We would stay there again!
Cons: The only thing was that the room was a bit hot as it only had a small window they should have a fan for that room, but the room was very nice and clean apart from that.
Pros: the restaurant. don't miss the restaurant
Cons: the stairs
Pros: This was a beautiful place! The grounds are lovely and there is a nice walk to a playground just down the road. The food was incredible. Definitely select at least half board! The value was tremendous. The other guests were friendly but also enough space to be able to have privacy. The staff was friendly, courteous and genuine. This place will stay in our hearts.
Pros: really gorgeous helpful staff, couldn't be nicer
Cons: it is all a bit dusty and needs a good clean out, must have been great 20 years ago difficult to walk up the stairs, nothing to hang on to, but the lovely girls at reception did offer to take up the little suitases. Get rid of those awful paintings in the hotel, throw out the dusty bunches of dried flowers/wheat bunches, give it a good clean out/replace the carpets , clean out the cigarette buts at the entrance. Food at the restaurant a little ordinary, to be kind. wine no choice , just the house red/white not good. Everything in the restaurant tasted a bit re heated. Well it was, we saw thekitchen taff arriving with lots of plastic boxes at after 8.30 and the restaurant opened at 0. We were a group of a chef, and two renowned front of house people. We were there to enjoy ourselves, not to criticise. Beds comfy, rooms clean but other areas need a good touch of the duster. Overall lovely reception and staff, give them a job any day.
