Gem in the Desert
EVERYTHING! Updated rooms, Clean, just a great experience. The BEST of all was the Employees.,from the reservations agent, bell man, valet to the desk. Everyone was so helpful, not because of it was their job but because they like to help people. I should have gotten names but EVERYONE I dealt with was that way!
Bad beds smokey smell everywhere rooms were smelly air conditioning did not work
the staff was very friendly and helpful. the room was very nice and bed was super comfy.
that you can only ask for one extra pillow and it took forever to get it. and they need more 24 hour resturantes open. it was a busy weekend with concerts on fremont plus they had a craps tournament going and a huge line at their cafe at 3am. had to venture out to north vegas to get food cuz we didnt want to go back to fremont.
Great location! Delicious Hawaiian restaurants!
I enjoyed the restaurants and the all around service.
The valet and front desk personnel should smile more and remember that you need good personal skills in their field. All in all their service was good.
Incomptent management and staff
House keeping "Threw Away" My Rasberry Pi 3, the internet is wildly overpriced for 2016, They forced me to change rooms mid-stay. and Eric Eisenberg, Eric Eisenberg, Director Of Hotel Operations was completely unhelpful in compensating me for all that went wrong. His response to my missing hardware and move was "Can I buy you a coffee?" Just a nightmare but hey you get what you pay for....

I love the California hotel, whenever I visit Vegas it's my little slice of home (Hawaii). If you're from the islands the California is a pretty comfortable place to be. They have a variety of food choices, and a lot of things I can't normally get on the mainland. The gambling is fun, the people are nice, and overall I think it's a great hotel. The majority of the crowd is rather old so if you're looking for something more modern or trendy than you would probably be better off somewhere on the strip.
There was no microwave or coffee maker. I was kind of surprised by no coffee maker. I think curtains vs slats would be better for the window shades.
Very cozy and comfortable. Staff was amazing. Always willing to help in any way possible.
Rooms do need updating. We came with a large group and had quite a few rooms. Everyone ended up with some type of rash before leaving. Not sure if it was the hard water in the hotel, or whatever the sheets and blankets are being cleaned with.
Only a block from Freemont
Quiet yet close to everything . A great value and being partnered with Main St casino made it very nice . Just a short walk and Main Street Casino is where you will find a value priced buffet for all your meals at a reasonable price . You could walk out the east door and walk across the street into Binons casino or walk a block to the Freemont Experience . Very nice location and easy to find anything in downtown .
location was very good ,quieter yet close to fremont street . staff were friendly and helpful . breakfast buffet was good deal
rooms are a bit dated but comfortable . charged for Wifi ten dollars a day seemed a bit much.
The California Hotel Casino is located in Las Vegas on Ogden Avenue, right close to downtown. The California Hotel Casino has an on-site restaurant called the Redwood Steakhouse. This is a fine dining establishment where guests can indulge in a delicious steak with all the trimmings. For a more casual dining experience, there is the California Noodle House. An option for something quick and easy is Aloha Specialties. There is something for the sweet tooth also at Lappert’s Ice Cream Shop. Outside the hotel, guests will find all of the many restaurants and bars that Las Vegas has to offer. There’s nothing visitors can’t do in Las Vegas. There are concerts, shows of all types, shopping centers, casinos, night clubs, bars, festivals, sports games, and so much more. Fremont Street is nearby with its popular light show. There is no way to get bored in this location.
