Cons: Have to pay for parking. Breakfast extra charge.

Pros: Nice hotel with good facilities. Parking is paid either self park or valet. Concierge is excellent, took care of many things for us. The location is better than the waterfront because there are many restaurants and bars as well as the Citadel, Public Gardens, Museums, cool neighborhoods within easy walking distance of the hotel.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: We were upgraded to the executive suites, which had a small breakfast lounge on the floor. Great way to start the day in relative peace and the food was above expectations. Thanks you!
Cons: To be completely honest, we thought the room was going to be a bit larger and fancier for the price we paid as well as for the reputation of the place, but it was by no means a setback. The Prince George more than made up for it in facilities, staff , and location.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean modern rooms. Excellent service Great continental breakfast. Location was perfect for a short visit to Halifax

Pros: The bed was very comfortable and the staff was absolutely amazing - very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was delicious every morning and had loads of variety.
Cons: Walls between rooms are very thin - we could hear the phone conversations of our neighbors in the next room well into the night. I could hear exactly what they were saying - not very private.

Halifax Waverley Inn - Halifax - Building
6
9.0 Excellent (1,213 reviews)
Overview Reviews
The Halifax Waverley Inn is an ideal spot for travelers wanting to discover the city. With Halifax VIA Rail Station just 300m away and Stanfield International Airport only 33km away, transportation is very convenient. Guests will find Scotiabank Centre and Halifax Public Gardens just a short distance from the hotel. This hotel makes a great place to kick back and relax after a long day of sightseeing. If you are looking for a convenient place to stay, our guests have told us that this location is excellent. This hotel is consistently one of the most popular choices for travelers to Halifax.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The character and charm of the building
Cons: One of the male desk reception staff was unfriendly....not a great public relations person for the hotel, in my view.
6.8 Good
Pros: Location was great, within walking distance of the Citadel, Pier 21 and the wharf. Parking was free!
Cons: The hotel seems old and run down. No attention to the finer details...for example, our light fixture in our room had 3 different kind of light bulbs. The A/C unit made so much noise we had to shut it off, it was a window unit so we couldn't even open a window, the ceiling fan was also questionable. The bed, was squeaky and the mattress was very uncomfortable. This was our 5th place of accommodation on our tour of the Maritimes - it was by far the most uncomfortable. If you are trying to sell yourself as a unique, boutique inn, you've got to look after the finer details.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location, charming historic hotel, very good breakfast included, comfortable bed, good shower and friendly staff.
Cons: We didn't mind climbing the stairs to our 3rd floor room but some guests might. There are first floor rooms that don't require steps but breakfast is served on the lowest level and does require steps.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This period property has a lot of history and character with a lot of different rooms and suites. Ours was small but had everything we needed. Breakfast was a standard buffet with a good selection. Tea and coffee are always available in the lobby. Location was super convenient for wandering around Halifax, we enjoyed the waterfront trail ,
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to downtown and waterfront
Cons: Room was a bit small , but for a one night stay it did the trick.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Central location; nice buffet breajfadt
Cons: Standard room very standard. A/c seemed to have only one setting

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Grand old Inn wonderfully restored and appointed. Like going back in time.
Cons: Not much. It was all great actually.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location. Easy walk to everything downtown Halifax. Good breakfast.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were super helpful, and found a place to securely store my bicycle when I first arrived. The hotel is throwback to the early 1900s in style, which I personally loved, but may not appeal to everyone.
Cons: There was no mini refrigerator in the room. The TV was set up in an odd location... Stashed in a corner on the top shelf of a closet, so you could watch from only a part of the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly accommodating staff Free parking Close proximity to Halifax pier and restaurants Complimentary water Tea and cookies in the afternoon
Cons: Air conditioner noise

7.3 Good
Pros: \it was comfortable, had a really nice atmosphere, breakfast was included, and had computer access for guests.
6.7 Good
Pros: lovely old converted house, more like a large B & B than a hotel. Reception staff very friendly and obliging - obviously enjoy their job and are good at it. .
Cons:
6.4 Good
Pros: location
Cons: breakfasts were just ok; noisy hostel across street
6.0 Good
Pros: warm atmosphere, free access to internet, location, breakfast
Cons: decoration
7.4 Good
Pros: The location was fantastic for visiting Halifax, everything was so close, it was great to step out the door and walk everywhere. Our room was the Queen Delux (103) and the jaccuzzi tub was a nice size and a real asset to the room.
Cons: The bed had feather pillows, duvet and mattress cover. After the second night it was hard on my allergies to sleep. It was comfortable, and I'm sure a selling point to many, but not so much to my husband and I.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms was beautiful and the food was AMAZING
Cons: Our room was on the top floor which was 4 flights up. We made it okay, but perhaps patrons should be warned that it can be a hefty walk-up.

Head downtown to see a variety of museums and landmarks, including the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site, the former Fort George complex used to defend the city harbor. 9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beds soft and comfortable. The bathrooms clean modern
Cons: No table in the room.v
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good, pool was nice and staff was friendly. It was also very clean.
Cons: I requested a room for 5 ppl, provided the ages and was given 2 queen beds, no pull out couch with no space for a cot or mattress. I would not have booked if I had been aware at the time of booking. I slept on the floor 1 night and my 9yo slept on the floor the other. Not exactly worthy of 200$. Also toilet clogged the first night and maintenance was off-site until the next day, we were offered a plunger. The bathroom fan was not strong enough, the ceiling was actually dropping on us after our showers.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Traveled with family and pets. The pet friendly rooms were very clean an nice with laminate.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was clean and staff accommodating! I asked for a later checkout and it wasn''t an issue. There was a wide variety for the continental breakfast and free tea and coffee available throughout the day.
Cons: The only negative was the strong smell of chemicals in the pool area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very clean and spacious. The location was very convenient.
Cons: Great coffee and breakfast! A good selection of cold and hot items. Super comfortable beds. Very clean hotel and pool. Great value for the price!
7.5 Good
Pros: Close to the airport
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Views of water. Pool
Cons: Costly
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location.
Cons: Single elevator. Very slow.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is just 11 minutes from downtown Halifax and is a fantastic deal--especially for families, if you book early enough. For comparison, the rate was $250 on the day of arrival but we paid around 1/3 of that by booking about 4 months in advance. Even though it's near the highway, we never heard any road noise. The hallways are especially spacious and the breakfast area is very modern and clean. The staff was exceptionally accommodating and satisfied our request for a roll-away bed on short notice, although I would recommend reserving one early, since they only have 5. The breakfast was delicious, hot and frequently replenished. It consisted of scrambled eggs, sausage (bacon one day) and french toast. There were also healthier options. The coffee was fantastic! Our wish-list would have been for a hot tub. The indoor pool was too cold to swim in even though it was indoors. This hotel is a bargain. You won't be disappointed!
Cons: Nothing.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: New and very clean. Beds comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Cons: I understand you can't change location, but our room faced traffic and you could hear it especially in the morning. Also, they need a larger breakfast area.
7.5 Good
Pros: Convenient, included breakfast, free parking

Pros: We liked the fact that we did not have to use our car to get around. Everything we went to see in Halifax was within walking distance. We love to walk anyway and we put 20 kms on one day alone.
Cons: We didn't like that the newer building that have been built around the hotel now restricts the harbour view.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Close to harbour and amenities.
Cons: Parking, at $22/day.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location is great for sight seeing and restuarants. Enjoyed relaxing on the rooftop patio after a long day.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Service was excellent. So were the rooms and proximity to all the action downtown
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was average at best. Nothing was fresh. The sitting area was so crowded that we had to wait and then cram 3 people into one spot.
Cons: It could use a refresh. Everything seemed just a little older and used than I would have expected to find.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff is very friendly and the beds are comfy. The hotel restaurant has awesome staff and good food well priced, including a daily happy hour for drinks and snacks.
Cons: Our room had a definite odour. Not sure if it was mold or what. The a/c did not work well but we were not in the room during the day and we were able to open the window to cool things down for sleeping. Fyi no meat at the breakfast buffet.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Room was big, hotel located walking distance from most attraction, easy to get in and out of parking lot for day trips outside the city
Cons: Slow elevator, noise from the hallway in the morning

Cons: I did not stay the night and was only in my room for 30mins and had to leave as my father was rushed to the hospital by ambulance so I needed to leave ASAP. The staff still charged me for my room and everything. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Bed and huge suite and rooftop hot tub and view
Cons: Room view; toilet broke but promptly fixed
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel in a great location. We could see the Citadel from our room. Our vacation was a driving tour of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. It was great to be able to spend two full days not having to get in our car, especially since Halifax is a busy area with a lot of pedestrian traffic and one way streets. The staff were also great, our room was clean and comfortable. We had the continental breakfast included in our stay which was also good, included hard boiled or scrambled eggs and potatoes. We were especially grateful that the housekeeping staff did not knock on our door in the morning which seems to happen at some many hotels lately.

Pros: To be honest, we chose this hotel for the pool and water slide! Fantastic fun for kids (and adults, if so inclined). Parts of the hotel is newly renovated and the room was modern, clean, and comfortable. Staff was really nice. Located close to one of the bridges into Halifax, so the location is very convenient.. note that each time you cross the bridge it’s 1$.

Cons: The breakfast was not that good.

Pros: Really comfortable beds. Decor was of a hIgh standard and everything was very clean.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was phenomenal! I wasn’t expecting there to be so much food and so much room for everyone to sit :) food was delicious. And the beds are soooo comfortable!
Cons: The only thing I didn’t like was that there wasn’t a microwave in our standard, 2 queen beds room. But that’s it :) other than that everything was great!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Extra pillows were great
Cons: Guests above our room were loud and banged or stomped on floor throughout nights. Called front desk. No change. Unable to sleep through noise for much of three nights.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff, great pool and slide
Cons: Gluten free sausages for our coeliac son at breakfast!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: When entering it was clean and the women at the front desk had a smile and was very friendly. No issues with the reservation and was given information about the hotel facilities and how to get to our room. We had 5 adults and we all fit comfortably in the room with 2 queens and a pull out couch. The room also had TWO TVs which was pleasant. Mini fridge and microwave as well. Shower had great pressure and temperature(it gets hot fast). No complaints at all the water slide was an added plus. Seriously no complaints!!!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We opted for a handicap room because of the good price , so this room was extra spacious. Loved The Triangle nearby. Loved the ability to go down to the boardwalk on the spur of a moment. Easy to find. Good quality seating in room.
Cons: We liked that we never heard our neighbors, the elevator, the laundry machines, so concluded the Hollis was well insulated. But too much traffic noise on third floor and I would have chosen a room on s higher floor if I had known that.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location. Bed was very comfortable..It was like sleeping on a cloud.. Plenty of towels.Location walking distance.Staff was very awesome, professional and very helpful..
Cons: No complaints to address.
6.3 Good
Pros: The location to walk around was quite nice, I did appreciate the umbrella in the suite.
Cons: I felt that the overall fee for the room was slightly higher than required for one evening and I think a few non feather bed pillows are an important addition for those who may want the option.

Pros: Suites were very nice and roomy.
Cons: No free parking. No onsite parking.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful organising a late check in for me. It was clean and well maintained. The location is excellent. Rudy's cafe next door is great for breakfast.
Cons: The room was quite small for the price and was overlooked by other windows so privacy was less than it could have been. There was noise of other guests coming and going. I think the CAD300 deposit over and above the price of the room is a bit steep for two nights and the level of accommodation; I've never been asked for such a deposit anywhere else I've stayed (fancy or basic) before.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is awesome - right downtown and handy to everything. The room had the basic necessities and was decorated in a very cute way. I felt safe and accommodations were very clean. The bathroom set up was better than I expected. The discounted parking passes were a lifesaver and cut down on what could have been a bigger expense. The communal rooms and kitchen were a nice bonus for work space or when you needed a drink of water late at night.
Cons: The rooms aren’t air conditioned so it was really warm (they did provide a fan though, which certainly helped). The beds/pillows weren’t very comfortable. Thicker pillows and maybe a foam pad for the mattress would go a long way to add comfort.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Love that its walking distance to almost everything downtown
Cons: No elevators
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Tens across the board for me. When I’m in town I just usually just need a place to crash after my gigs, and this was THE perfect place. Clean, comfortable, functional yet stylish decor in an otherwise really cool old building. The electric fan in the room was a lifesaver. The staff were also incredibly nice and very helpful! Oh, and the parking arrangement was a huge bonus. 100% will rebook here.
Cons: Honestly if I had to pick at anything, I’d say the sound of the other doors slamming was the only thing that “bothered” me, and that’s mostly on the other guests. A box of tissues in the room would have been great, too!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location was great. It was very clean
Cons: I paid for breakfast but there was none available
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast at Rudy's cafe next door was tasty.
9.3 Excellent

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Mutsa, the Residence Manager, was very gracious and accommodating. She let me in when I left my keys in the car and she was an engaging conversationalist who clearly looks after her guests with very little fuss. A great human asset to the facility!
Cons: Although rooms are modern and very clean, the walls carry sound very clearly. I know this is a structural thing, but it surprises you given the building's quality upgrades and finishes. Otherwise, everything else was great!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The residence was in a great location close to the waterfront and historic Halifax. The staff were great, friendly and helpful. The kitchen was well equipped and clean as was the lounge area. Modern furniture in all rooms and comfortable bed. The laundry was good to have as I stayed for about 3 weeks. It was ideal to explore Halifax and surrounding area. We were given fans in our rooms when the weather turned hot and humid. The Wi-fi was good and the bathrooms were plentiful, clean and worked. I never had to wait to use one. I enjoyed my stay.
Cons: It was hot and humid in July and while the communal areas had air con it was not in the bedrooms so quite hot though we were supplied with fans. While the residence itself was quiet at night if I opened the window it was noisy but I did sleep ok.
