From entering the Hotel to leaving the staff were very friendly, helpful, could'nt do enough for you. It was very nicely decorated, they have a glass lift that shows the town, the room was delightful, the restaurant excellent. Lovely open space conservatory to sit and have a drink. Most of all were the excellent tapas that you were given free with a drink and the prices were very reasonable seeing as you were in City Hotel. Would definately go again to the Hotel Santiago. Nothing. It was lovely we picked the best Hotel in Linares.
Such a pleasant experience after a very long plane and car ride-Frederico our waiter in the restaurant was such a trooper trying to bridge the language barrier when ordering dinner. The hotel is deceiving from the outside-so beautiful in side with all it's hidden terraces and the rooms were very well appointed.
Lift down to garage ,close to all shopping and only 10 minutes to only golf course in Jaen.
I like the beds. They were quite comfortable. Nice presentation, clean, organized. Welcoming fruit basket was a nice touch, too bad we were too tired to eat any of it! Good breakfast selection, nice and helpful staff.
Good value for money + very courteous staff. Good buffet breakfast and secure parking. Good size room, bed and bathroom.
Spacious accommodation; nice bar atmosphere (mind you it was Real Madrid vs Milan on the telly) and excellent food. Nice touch to have a basket of fruit waiting you on arrival.
Excellent breakfast, great peaceful location in a city, clean rooms.
My wife and I stayed only one night in this hotel. Its fine central location meant we were in the heart of Linares. Breakfast was well laid out and plentiful with fresh food to suit all tastes. There were many good bars within easy walking distance - just remember that when you are asked what 'tapa' or 'tapita' you want to have with your drink in the bars you choose from the menu and you don't pay anything extra for it. We had no issues and no problems with the hotel, the facilities, the location or the staff. We would be happy to use the same hotel again.
The breakfast was fantastic! Just the pillow was not confortable enough
Good Value for the money, short walk from the historic center
new & modern hotel (Sept 2008) - coming from town it looks awful although it isn't at all ;) 4th floor bar was closed during daytime,
We liked everything about the Hotel. The rooms are excellent, spacious and clean. The breakfest is very good and well served. To say anything, the pool is small.
nice modern hotel, very clean, has pleasant lobby and coffee shop, has excellent view of valley, mountains and olive tree farms. Most important nice and very friendly staff, specially at the front disk. I think the cost was abit high for this area. But maybe it is atourist city.
Monuments and the country side
We visited the town of Baeza during the summer fete period. We spent time by the pool. We used the hotel as a stop-over between Madrid and Malaga The area around the hotel is a little scruffy, it is on the outskirts of the town.
The fact that one can leave the car in the hotel garage, because everything worthwhile visiting is within walking distance. Decided to have dinner in the hotel restaurant on 12/10, and were told that we could not eat a la carte: only a set menu was available - which was not bad, but certainly not excellent...
The location was good and the reception staff pleasant. The internal coutyard was pretty but was being used as a smoking area by other guests We stayed in a superior room. which although largewas in fact very basic. The cafeteria was not staffed and relied on the restaurant staff to service it, resulting in poor service from grumpy staff. The breakfast was only adequate
Hotel well-situated. Reception very welcoming. Room and bathroom VERY nice. Good breakfast. Price - very good. Hotel restaurant was also excellent.
Character of building;location and breakfast None
Convenient situation in cntre of town Difficult to find - need instructions and map.Difficult to get into garage ecause of narrow street
Nice clean hotel - central Noise from streets outside - Friday
excellent location but then Baeza is a very small town; spacious rooms; very good bedding; excellent value for money no parking in front of the hotel except to unload in the street
Excellent value for a money, comfortable, big A little cold and the heating a little complicated and noisy
Perfectly located, comfortable room. Early in the morning (5am) there was very loud shouting in the street, waking us up. Waiters did not speak english!
I chose this hotel as you are able to park your car in an enclosed individual garage adjacent to your room. There is a connecting door to your room. My car had all my possessions in it as I had driven from Santander heading towards the south coast. Such security is priceless. Reception staff were welcoming and helpful. I had a nice breakfast in the morning. I would have liked the opportunity to buy local products. These did not seem to be on sale.
El servicio muy agradable y la comida muy buena.
that the was a garage to each room the head waiter was not very helpfull or friendly. He said he could not speak english when we need the menu translated.
Easy assess from autovia. Garage next to room. Good size rooms. Good staff On our first stay there was far too much salt in the food
Bed was comfortable, and the bedroom and bar/restuarant facilities were good. Staff were very helpful on the whole. The bathroom was disgusting for a four star hotel. A 'rustic' tiled bathroom is not acceptable for this star rating. Also, a fiesta was being held the night we stayed, with very, very loud rave music ALL night, right next to the hotel, so that none of us got any sleep. We should have been warned about this on booking the hotel or offered full compensation.
Romantic ex hunting lodge. Public areas charming. Great staff and really "sympathico" environment. Each bedroom comes with private garage - perfect if your car is piled with stuff. Resturant food excellent. Price excellent. Very happy experience. Staff on duty did not speak any english - however did their best to understand what you wanted and largely sign language worked.
the location, the design, the restaurant, the swimming pool,
the elegance of the site
Hotel staff very friendly very nice room good wine list and great area Parking a little tricky but a small price to pay ?
The building is tastefully restored and.the courtyard pool is lovely The rooms very comfortable. Restaurant excellent. Hotel in central location... The hotel is not the easiest place to find (, but it is well signposted in the town.)
Charming hotel +++
The food and setting were excellent
The rooms and facilities generally were exceptional. Great relaxing atmosphere. Nothing!
Everything - the setting of the hotel was beautiful. It felt very luxurious but not at all fussy - very relaxed. Bar by the pool was very reasonable and the setting beautiful. The beds were extremely comfortable. Very relaxed about our three children for a posh hotel.
Beautiful space in an interesting town. Breakfast was plentiful. The restaurant was closed on Sunday night - wish we had known! Hard to find the hotel...signs are misleading.
nice location. cold room with poor to no heat control that responded. Safe was locked upon arrival and never opened up. Breakfast buffet was meager at best. No internet in room at all.
Beautiful small place. Building is an old palace: very lovely w/ interior courtyard. Like a mini-Parador w/o the price. A nice stop, ok breakfast; we had dinner and flamenco, a special treat.
City center, decor Limited storage space, difficulty parking, breakfast closed earlier than stated time, no coffee/tea maker in the room, tight room.
The XVI century ambiance created in the hotel Should be better signposted. Very difficult to find.
It was very central , the breakfast was good but not exceptional. The building was very attractive. There was no pool, no bar and no restaurant.
ambience we had booked a suite to find that it had no windows. The air con was not cold enough and we had to change to a standard room to get some ventilation. Apparant some standard rooms did not have external windows.
Not a Parador but almost in same league. Superb feel to the hotel with old world charm in abundance.
The location is very nice. The Hotel itself is located in an amazing timepiece of artchitecture. Very nicely, warmly and comfortable decorated rooms. As the hotel once was a medieval type of city palace some of the rooms have windows only towards the interior patio (hall). if you need "daylight" then you definitely have to be aware of that.
Hotel was beautiful, breakfast, very Spanish but very good, good parking facilities in the next road. There could have been a noise problem if the hotel had been full, as there was a bar/breakfast room on the patio, the bedrooms were all round the patio, if you were on the lower floor you'd have walk out of your bedroom door directly into the breakfast room, although there is a restaurant connected to the hotel outside, as it was quite when we were there people were eating on the patio.. our room was on the 3rd floor and did have a window onto the side street.
Beautiful building The service was poor, though the people at the reception very nice. Breakfast not available before 8.30!!
Unusual hotel. Excellent location. Clean, comfortable rooms. Friendly helpful staff. Good breakfast. Be aware that some rooms face internal courtyard and therefore do not have outside windows. Also, there is no restaurant actually in the hotel, you have to take a walk outside for dinner.
We had a bath with waterjets. Hotel is nearby a busy road, very noisy. The room is outdated and the carpet in the hall needs to be renewed ! No free parking.
Somewhat centrally located to the places we wanted to travel to. We stayed on a Friday night. The walls are so thin that we could hear the person in the room next to us coughing. There were about 15 kids on the street corner from about 11 pm to 3 am and you could hear every word they said. Plus all of there yelling and screaming and racing their mopeds/motorbikes up and down the street all night long. I probably got 3 hours sleep that night. Luckily it was only one night. Plus the tub had hair in the drain...
Location in Balien
The hotel is a renovation project that took 3 years to complete to an extremely high standard. Therefore, as you would expect from such a project, the hotel is charming and spotless. It is positioned in the center of a charming village with a tapas/restuarant bar, chemist, 2 banks, supermarket and bakery within 100m. There is plenty of parking just outside the hotel on the main street. The hotel owners (Luis Miguel and Juana María) are particularly welcoming and will do anything to please their guests. Most people use the hotel as a stopover as it is just off the main Madrid-Seville motorway, however it is also a great place to stay to enjoy the local white villages and spectacular scenary in the national parks. Highly recommended. It is not possible to fault the hotel and the levels of service.
A real taste of Spain located just off the main route through Spain , Ideal for a stop over. Very comfortable and clean.
We enjoyed a very relaxing stay at the Hotel Palacio del Intendente and it was in an excellent position for a stop over on our way back to Ciudad Real Airport being only 5 mins off the main A4 motorway. The reception staff made us feel very welcome and did everythning they could to make our stay enjoyable. The Hotel is a beautiful building which is very well cared for and we appreciaed the lovely surroundings.
The hotel owner and his wife were helpful and very welcoming. The hotel itself is immaculately clean, newly renovated and decorated and has a real wow factor for such a small, inexpensive place - the lighting in the communal areas in particular is subtle and helps to create a warm atmosphere. The hotel has a contemporary design in an old building whilst still maintaining traditional values and charm.. It is well placed for the main (A4?) motorway and represented excellent value for money in an interesting part of Spain. We only stayed for one night but would have liked to have had more time to explore the surrounding area. We will definitely go back and have already recommened it to others. Nothing.
Breakfast was fresh and good. The pool was just right and the owners/staff were very friendly. An excellent hotel for travellers and also for those wanting to explore the historic area of Jaen.
The building itself is stunning, the spa very relaxing, the four poster bed was the most comfortable bed we slept in during a 2 week vacation in Spain and the room and bathroom very nicely set up. Its in the middle of nowhere
We loved the atmosphere and the way the place looked. Very comfortable and really added a golden touch to a romantic weekend. The breakfast on Monday morning was in the hotel bar instead of the restaurant and instead of the wonderful buffet we had had the day before we were served a standard breakfast at our table. Granted, you could ask and change things you did not like, but it gave a bad impression that most things were not availabe like the day before.
Areally wonderful building with excellent facilities The restaurant could have been better
The hotel was outstanding. Beautifully restored and decorated combining 15th century origins with a luxurious elegance. One of nicest I have stayed in and far better value than the Paradors. Sadly the stay was spoilt by the smell from the Smurfitt Kapper (sic) incinerator that was positioned about a mile away but the stench was terrible when outside or having the windows open and it ruined a perfect hotel stay
How they had blended the architecture of the Castle with a new modern look. The Hotel Staff was extremely friendly and helped in all ways. The only minor issue is the parking space. I stayed there in August which is considered low season and there were only around 15 parking spaces in total and 2-3 free.
The Palacio de Mengibar is an excellent hotel, with great facilities (especially the spa) and wonderful food. It was a bit quiet when we were there but it had only been open 3 months.
Very beautiful old building, fantastic bedrooms, very peaceful.loved it. Restaurent was only open at weekends. some food was available in bar
A superb and beautiful hotel, especially given how little we paid for a night's stay. The Roman/Arab baths were particularily delight and entirely free. The one major problem was that they were obviously not able to open restaurant either because of a lack of custom or staff. However, the town is a lovely place and we could not have enjoyed our stay in Mengibar more. Nothing
Very attractive historical setting. Wonderful spa facilities. We could not book a table for dinner for the evening we arrived. The town has a very small number of restaurants, in fact the hotel could not recommend any good ones that were in walking distance.
The building and spa are fabulous mengibar is not a big tourist town so don't go there expecting to stroll around and find lots of easy to access resturants/shops etc. If you want to stay in a castle and have access to a spa to use Palacio de Mengibar is for you
The personnel amabilityand the very clean and spacious room Everything was excellent
Staff at reception spoke English and were very helpful. The hotel is brandnew and the rooms were comfortable and came with a terrace (but without table and chairs). Plenty of free parking available on site. The beds and shower were fine. We couldn't have our morning coffee in the room. The hotel is located out of city center, but this wasn't a problem as we came by car. Spanish family with 3 children were ruining the (new) hotel bar and staff did not bother saying something about it. No road signs indicating hotel location (yet we found it rather easily in the end).
the evening meal (menu of the day) was very good the service was ok and it was worth what we paid the breakfast was very poor the rooms where 1970s and in need of up date the shower head did ent work the location was poor we walked up into the town nothing there
Relaxing on our trip from northern Spain (Rioja) to Andalusia(Almeria) as we have done many times at El Salvador. The location is an ideal stopping point for us. We have a well behaved dog which is excluded from the Paradors. If I could venture a small criticism it is that you no longer have rugs on the bedroom tiled floor.
Once again enjoyed our stay. The room with a terrace and coffee table was very good. The normal recommendations for the hotel. Fot the first time a problem with evening meal. As normal the Spanish custom of not opening the restaurant until 21.00. We wanted an early start in the morning and wanted and early night. Thanks to Juan who cooked us a quick bar meal we were able to get the early night. Other nationalities were complaining about the late opening.
Matresses and bed linens very poor
Everything! Helpful staff, lovelylocation. Music in the grounds. Spacious accomodation. Even a bed for our little dog! None.
The motel was like an oasis in the desert. The town itself is dusty and run down, but the hotel was in green gardens with fountains and finished to a high standard.
very nice lay out easy to find very comfortable and clean staff very curtious and helpful music on load speakers was a little to loud
The breakfast was very poor (orange, coffee, toast and jam)
restaurant not open ,so had to eat in bar which was full of old men smoking cigars
On check in the price advertised on Booking.com wasn't the price asked for by the receptionist. After some debate the booking.com price was accepted. But this isn't the first time this has happened when booking through this site.
