A very nice accommodation with large rooms. Very friendly hosts and very central location directly between Alfama and Bairro Alto. We really appreciated the kitchen, where you could prepare your own breakfast. We were completely satisfied and would go there again immediately.
We have very little to criticize, as mentioned we were very satisfied. Two minor points that could be improved from our point of view are the light in the rooms and the scent. The rooms are a bit weakly lit. As there is only a small window, it is always quite dark in the room. Maybe you could put more or stronger lamps in the rooms. Also the rooms have a strong own smell. This is not unusual in old buildings but when we entered the room we had to air it out.
This is pretty much the perfect place to stay in Lisbon. Incredibly well located, beautifully maintained, with friendly staff and all the facilities you'll need. Highly recommended.
The space is absolutely beautiful and unique. It added to our experience of Lisbon. The location is close to everything, but the street is quiet. If you want a truly authentic taste of the city stay here! I love it!
Now, I must first say that I booked on special and our double room was only $75 a night versus the usual $175 per night. I gave this place a very high score because I fell in love with it; however, if I had paid the $175 per night it would have gotten a lower score. Why? I feel that for $175 a night you should get a cooked breakfast not a DYI breakfast and your room should be cleaned every 3 days or so. Our room was never cleaned the 4 nights we were there. We were given new towels, but never more toilet rolls, etc. I also feel for $175 the bed should have headboards and the room places to put your clothes. We had a card catalogue as a dresser, which was fantastic aesthetically but not that functional in terms of using as a place to put clothes. I also think at the higher rate they need to provide shampoo, conditioner, etc. But again, I paid $75 a night which was a fantastic deal!!! I can't complain at all given that because it truly is an amazing place to stay. But I'd never pay $175 per night to stay here with the DYI breakfast, lack of toiletries, etc. So my thought is for that rate, either only offer an amazing continental breakfast or have someone else cook the hot items for guests. And offer to tidy up the rooms. People expect their room to be cleaned for that amount of money. It's a vacation for them.
I liked extreme cleanliness, fresnesss and huge lounge to chill and self made. Breakfast I
I did not like that I was told. I can't use kitchen after 12 noon - had to. Use it for eating take away or opening wine. Manager was barely talking to me. He came across super unfriendly I think as a result. It seemed like manager lived on premises and did what he wanted like listening loud classic music for example - came across as not very thoughtful or considerate of guests. Shower and toilet were individual but not in the room which was a hassle to go to at night and was not clearly mentioned on the website when I booked. Also when check in. I Wass told if I arrive after 7pm,nobodyy will be. There to check me iin. Although manager appeared to actually live on premises. So I did not understand why have 7pm. Cut off when and make a fuss about check in when manager could have. Done. It. I did not speak to manager as he was not very talkative but it seemed to me that he was the owner of the building living on premises and basically all the rules for guests in terms of check in and usage of kitchen revolved around. His wishes and comfort. At least I felt that way.. Not the best strategy to be honest
Totally lovely place and stay, unique interior!
