Excellent 10.0
Pros: it was excellent stay and very nice lady Elena take care of us, even she baked very nice cake for the guest. A very large kitchen and equipped with everything you need and best part there is dinning table and sofa if you want to hang out for some time. overall it is very nice place.
Cons: everything was great
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The owner was very kind, and there was hand-made apple pie for guests. Good experience here.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very very clean and warm welcome
Excellent 10.0
Pros: It almost felt like home. Clean, quiet and everything that you need, I definitely recommend it :-)
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I appreciated a lot the confort and the silence of the rooms, wich I asked to Mrs Helen, and the respect for silence in all the Haugen pensjonat. We could stay like at home : we had the possibility to cook in a nice kitchen. Helen preapered for us a lot of very good lemon and apple cakes and offered my favourite coffee: Lavazza Oro ! She is often present in the b&b and give interesting information for excursions and others things. My dougther Laura and me will always have memory of Helen and our staying in Haugen Pensjonat.
Cons: Nothing! It'is all perfect!

Good 7.5
Pros: Cool creative design and central, quiet, comfortable, next to Kroa, great activities and longer cabins and trips in outstanding locations, very welcoming and knowledgeable staff, double room excellent.
Cons: Basecamp is a very good place but breakfast needs a bit of attention - starts late (8am) preferred from 7am, hot breakfast standards such as scrambled eggs, bacon, tomato, beans, pastries, oatmeal porridge were all missing; an upgrade of the lobby drink flasks to a coffee machine, and/or kettle and cups in rooms
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The whole atmosphere of the hotel feels warm, woody and cozy. Especially after a day of hiking or sailing in the freezing cold. The rooms look like old (but very good) mountain lodges. The beds are proper although the one-person beds are perhaps a bit tight. Good Wifi, no tv but there is a big tv in the lounge and free tea/coffee/biscuit. I bought some nice stuff at the little shop near the reception.
Cons: There are steps to be made in the amount (variation) of breakfast that is provided. Its pretty average compared to the rest the hotel is offering. Would like some more warm food, also if you can't eat bread the alternatives are little. Other then that, a really great hotel!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I love this hotel located right in the heart of Longyearbyen, next to the best restaurant (with direct access from the hotel) and in front of the SvalBAR. The staff and the structure itself make people very welcome!!!
Cons: It is impossible to find something wrong :)
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Comfy hotel with friendly staffs
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This is the best place in LYR, period. Best people ever.
Cons: Too short a stay
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Wonderful place to stay in Longyearbyen. Excellent staff!
Good 7.9
Pros: + Beautiful, cozy lodge-style room + Very good breakfast buffet + Nice common areas + Centrally located
Cons: - Equipment in room (no closet, no hairdryer, ...) - Bath room below standard - Too expensive for off-season - Weak wifi signal in room
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Breakfast was amazing as were the staff.
Excellent 9.1
Pros: Very attentive and knowledgeable staff, unique atmosphere, great expeditions, plenty of cool places to read, hangout, play games, watch the sky, etc. Centrally located in downtown Longyearbyen
Cons: Room was a bit difficult if I'd had a partner come with me as they were very small (yet comfortable) bunk-beds, also, you have to remove your shoes every time you come in, and it would've been nice if the hotel would provide "indoor" shoes to all the guests, as I was okay with removing my shoes, but didnt like walking around in my socks everywhere I went in the hotel.
Good 7.0
Pros: The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Each room is unique in design and decorated/constructed using driftwood and timber. Good sized bathroom with in-floor heating. Be forewarned that rooms do not have TV, telephone, fridge, minibar or wardrobes. I did not consider this to be a negative point, though some people may.Loved the glass-ceiling attic (cognac room)!
Good 7.7
Pros: Friendly staff. Interior in wonderful woodbuild; feels really authentic.
Cons: There is none.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: nice and clean hotell whit good staff and god location
Cons: could be a better variation of the breakfast meny

Pros: Nice and compact
Excellent 10.0
Pros: What a hotel in a great location. Right in the centre of Longyear. The hotel was lovely - and our room, wow, what a room A corner room with 6 windows, which we could sit and watch the northern lights from!!! The hotel was warm, quiet, served a great breakfast, and offered tea and coffee all day long. Nice lounge area to relax in, and helpful staff for advice and information. Can highly recommend.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The property had a modern feel, with very clean facilities. The staff was extraordinary nice and went out of their way to assist in all matters.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Cozy and clean room. Good breakfast. Good location- near the bus stop place.
Cons: No
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great hotel. Very clean. Staff were extremely helpful. Excellent breakfast. Would stay there again.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The breakfast was very good. Comfortable beds. The nice surprise for me was the Nuga restaurant, with delicious food and various Japanese drinks. The restaurant functions in the same location but doesn't actually belong to the hotel.
Cons: A bit too dark in the rooms. The light in the room is not so good, I had to stay by the small window to cut a broken nail. (during the summer time!). Sometimes in the morning it gets quite cold in the room. I had stayed in different rooms, the last one right above the restaurant, unfortunately I could smell in the room what was being fried in the kitchen.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: My best hotel in Svalbard I have stayed at! It is my second time here. Amazing staff, good breakfast. Super easy to book adventures.
Cons: I would prefer more hot food for breakfast ;)
Excellent 10.0
Pros: the hotel is so nicely renovated, stayed there a few years ago. Fantastic breakfast and friendly staff. Have a divine dinner in their restaurant. Located nicely overlooking the village and you walk down to shops and pubs in minutes. We got a little surprise when we checked in, a welcome drink
Cons: Last time we lived here we could bake waffles but it is gone now, that's sad ... although it was served a little cake in the afternoon but there is something cozy with waffles in the lounge. Beyond that we have nothing to complain about.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Incredible breakfast and view in the morning. Twin room was perfect...absolutely clean and had everything I needed including bath robe, coffee machine (water heater), big bed and luxurious bath room. Perfect view from the room - got to see the Aurora from my window. Work out room had everything I needed, too. Personnel was very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The sauna area could have been a little more 4-star like.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: I have been in my many hotel’s in my life, but I never seen hotel staff like here. Very helpful, nice and always smile. Fantastic breakfast, and atmosphere was amazing. The best option in Longyearbyen.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything was great. Location, cleanliness, staff and food. Aya was particularly brilliant!
Cons: .
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Fresh and very nice breakfast
Cons: Problems with air condition
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything: the staff is very friendly, the gym exceeded my expectations, the breakfast is awesome, the restaurant is classy and the food very tasty.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Wonderful surprise. Rooms were comfortable and well appointed. Would definitely stay again.
Good 6.3
Pros: History of it being an upper class gentlemans club house for the coal mines upper management. Beautifully lined with timber lined walls and many old paintings/photos.
Good 7.0
Pros: staff were efficient and friendly arrival and checkout well organised. rooms warme and comfortable
Good 7.3
Pros: The atmosphere and comfort was excellent. Very quiet, a homey feeling.
Cons: Since there is only one flight out from Longyearbyen every day, the check-out on the day of departure should be more flexible, so that it could be postponed until 1 p.m.
Okay 5.7
Pros: I liked the hotel loby, the staff and location. The room was comfort and pleasent, nothing special. Regular breakfast was good, but the early breakfast for early leavers was a shame. It is not fair to pay so much money for the hotel and to get such a poor breakfast.
Cons: I liked the atmosphere, I liked the loby rooms (three), I liked the staff and the pancake afternon.
Good 6.0
Pros: A very good overall experience, nothing extremely superb but everything worked well and efficiently. Friendly and helpful staff. An above average breakfast buffet.
Good 7.3
Pros: Excellent facilities, friendly staff, expensive but to be expected on Svalbard, authentic atmosphere

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great location, five min walk from center of town. Breakfast was delicious and comprehensive. Bus from airport drops you off/picks you up right at the front of the hotel (75kr non-concession each way). Hotel was very clean, very warm, great hot water in bathrooms. The shared bathroom was never a problem, but the hotel was not very busy when I was there so can't comment on peak season.
Cons: The spa wasn't working when I was there which was a bit sad, but apparently there was a warning about it on their website so I can't complain! There was an amazing bath though!
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Cozy, warm and relaxing atmosphere.
Cons: Considering that it is Spitsbergen then nothing.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very cozy B&B in the northernmost town. All major attractions in town (Svalbardbutikken, Pubs, Restaurants, Shopping Center) in a walking distance. Nice and warm rooms, clean facilities and cozy breakfast and common area. Staff was welcoming, helpful and really friendly, also Igor, the dog :) The sauna at -13°C was a great experience! Breakfast was amazing. Would definitly recommend this place and stay again!
Cons: Bar/Restaurant only open on demand / upon request.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This hotel is a short walk from the center, where all the services are. We had a suite in a separate building, which made us feel, we are the only guests in the house. It was nicely decorated. The staff was helpful and friendly. We ate at the restaurant in site two times. Menu is short. Food is local and very tasty.
Cons: -
Excellent 10.0
Pros: What a great place at the end of the world! Mary Ann (unfortunately very ill at the moment) did a great job to make this place feel like home; warm and comfortable. The rooms - old mineworkers sheds - are small but fine. The living room, kitchen and bathrooms very comfortable and breakfast very tasty! The restaurant serves local dishes (seal, whale, reindeer) as well as the dish of the day. Everything is super reasonably priced.
Cons: Nothing :) Just check the season when you go so you are prepared for total darkness (in winter) of total light (in summer)
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The atmosphere is really good. Warmly welcome, good and friendly support.

Excellent 8.8
Pros: The location is fantastic - away from centre, quiet. Perfect place for seeing the northern lights - ca 100m walking and you are away from lights, in darkness. And if you´re lucky, you can see the northern lights even right from your bed! If you stay here, there is no need to book special northern lights tour. Good place for budget traveller, the room was spacious and comfortable. Enough showers and toilets (beware! there is no specific labels in the door of showers/toilets, only label "Warning! Dangerous marine life..."). Breakfast was simple but good. Coffee and tea were available all day long. And pancakes were so delicious!
Cons: Kitchen is small, if there´s one person preparing meal, it´s already full. It should be noticed beforehand that in winter reflective vests are strongly recommended. You can buy them from reception for relatively ok price, but still this information should be in "Practical information" booklet they send you in confirmation.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: breakfast, location and staff were great. We have stayed before and love coming back.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Excellent staff, prepared to support you at activities booking and getting supplies of basic goods. Well equipped kitchen, nice breakfasts.
Cons: Can’t really imagine 4 people with luggage in 4 people dorm - 2 were already at the limit of comfort.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: The staff is very friendly, everything is clean, very good accomodation.
Cons: You have to walk about 25 minutes to be in the city centre, even though it is no big deal for my perspective but it is something to keep in mind.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Breakfast was great.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: It is clean, warm, the reception girls are wonderful, good kitchen and wifi, cosy lounges, delicious brekkie.
Cons: Nothing apart from the 24 hours dark which is not the fault if the hostel.
Good 7.5
Pros: Kind staff, clean rooms and bathrooms, wi fi, hot shower water, heating, tv relax room and kitchen at disposition.
Cons: I suggest to book single room, dormitory is too small for 4 person and there is only 1 wardrobe (but single room is very expensive and there is no private bathroom).
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Absolutely everything it was fantastic, the staff the accommodation the view the breakfast- everything.
Cons: Nothing at all.

Excellent 9.6
Pros: Great place for Svalbard experience. Accomodation consist of couple of building, each has its own kitchen (great if you want to save some money on food - you can buy everything for cooking at the big grocery shop in the city). There is a restaurant with amazing food and local draft beer. Staff is very friendly and can help you with everything (booking trips, hiking tips...). There is direct bus from and to the airport that has a stop in front of reception. It´s not located in the centre but at least you can watch arctic foxes playing outside your room :D It is also a great place if you want to hike on your own, because it is closer to the glaciers and most of the peaks around the city.
Excellent 9.2
Cons: Located about 1.5km or 1 mile further away from the center of town. But very walkable and refreshing to do so
Excellent 9.6
Pros: great place to stay. loved Svalbard. Great staff, very friendly and very helpful. you feel welcome right off ! thank you for the great stay we had. The bathrooms were super clean and the room comfortable.
Cons: a bit more ventilation in the rooms would have been a little plus but overall all was fine.
Good 7.1
Pros: The breakfast was glorious. The shared bathrooms were large and clean and the staff was friendly.
Cons: The twin beds was not what was expected. We had expected a queen bed as we are a couple. We chose this place for the reasonable rate which is what we got but being farther away from town was somewhat inconvenient.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Guesthouse was good, surrounding and everything, only problem is the distance from the main town
Cons: The distance from the main shopping and eating place
Excellent 10.0
Pros: the property is located in Longyerbaen south end, in 2 km from city centre (if it is possible to say so). Taking in attention the latitude of Svalbard, you would never expect such a level of comfort that Coal Miners provides. Everything is in order as it should be, strating to WC and ending up with breakfast. Nice staff, cozy lobby, great people around.
Cons: -
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The staff were excellent in every respect. They could not have been more helpful. The layout of the accommodation was to be expected, bedrooms along corridors with shared bathrooms. There is a communal kitchen and dining area in each block, which means you can buy and cook your own food. There is also a lounge with a dining table in the block we were in. Some people are messy, though, and leave their boots scattered in the entrance area, whereas, once they had left, everything was neat and tidy. Everywhere is well heated and very comfortable. The walk to the main part of the town is only about 30 minutes and a real pleasure. There is a taxi for those who do not feel well enough for a 2 km stroll.
Cons: It would have been nice to have a basin in the bedroom for teeth brushing and a morning wash. The curtains are not heavy enough so the light comes in from outside. At the time we were there, it was not daylight when we wanted to sleep but there was a nearby street light that illuminated the room even with the curtains closed.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: A little slice of longyearbyn history. Coal miners accommodation upgraded to a hotel. Restaurant on site - good burgers. Would have liked a hairdryer in the room but everything else as expected
Excellent 9.2
Pros: We had a lovely stay in Longyearbyen. Staff was very kind and breakfast amazing (everything was sooo fresh and tasty. Its location is less than 30minutes of walking from the city center but definitely worth it. Rooms, common kitchen and bathrooms are well equiped, beds are very comfortable and the best is the view from the window. It is like a TV, every day we could watch wild animals living in the area how they are eating or playing.
