Chambre Hôte - Lorient - Building
1
8.9 Excellent (359 reviews)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: for starters The host Chang was kind to pick us up from the neighbour village since the bus dropped us there instead of Lorient actually on a holiday. The room was super comfy with a superb view. The house is surrounded by greenery and tranquility. There will be water, kitchen faciltiies, free tea, coffee and so on. The host is always there and if not he is a phone call away...Though there isn't much one would need. Perfectly suited for people with cars. There is a bus station 5 minutes away but the schedule needs to be checked specially in holidays...
Cons: The only issue is the morning bathroom use, 3 double rooms using the same...
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Too comfortable
Cons: Shared bathroom
5.5 Okay
Pros: The décor. The air conditioning was a real bonus as the weather was hot. The location is handy for the N165 and Lorient.
Cons: We booked a room with private bathroom, the shower and wash basin was en suite but the toilet was under the stairs by the front door across the open plan living, dining, sitting room from our bedroom. A robe had been supplied, we now realise why, but we would rather not walk past people having breakfast to use the toilet. It would have been nice to have a bit more choice at breakfast such as fruit and cereal. The "swimming pool" was a temporary above ground pool approximately three feet high and eight feet wide not big enough to swim in. The property is a family home in a housing estate.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Really comfortable, clean and welcoming. Room was excellent and a very spacious bathroom. Quiet getaway
Cons: You need cash to be able to purchase beverages. Not a dislike, just something to be aware of
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely house all amenities, good value.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is very nice and clean
Cons: Everything
8.8 Excellent
Cons: Kettle in the room with tea, coffee etc. but considering price facilities were good.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: I was there for work which was a 2min drive away, so the location was excellent. Surrounded by cafe's and a short walk to the waterfront. The owner was very helpful and friendly, made me feel very welcome. I'd stay here again.
Cons: Although the room was small, it was very comfortable. Maybe it could possibly have been improved by a small fridge or tea making facilities. I am also not a fan of wind-down shutters on a window. They feel like a prison though I am quite aware that they are very common in France.
9.3 Excellent
Cons: It would be good if the rooms had AC
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good WiFi and lovely owners. Very clean and great breakfast
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We stayed for two nights in July when the Tour de France was in Town and regard Inter-Hotel Lorient Les Océanes as a lucky find. We had a very pleasant and clean room, albeit up two flights of stairs with no lift but the hotel was within a fifteen minute walk of the Town Centre. Breakfast was good and plentiful and good value. We arrived quite late but the Manager, who was on reception, very helpfully 'phoned a local restaurant (La Brasserie du Coin) to check they were still serving. Parking is possible on the wide pavement, both in front of the hotel and across the road. A good stay.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great Breakfast room and great breakfast selectioo
Cons: While the room was comfortable the room furnishings need an upgrade,.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely friendly little hotel. Very clean and lounge/bar/breakfast facilities were great.
Cons: We parked fine, but on road parking outside could be an issue. No other negative comments I can find.
7.5 Good
Pros: Was the closest hotel to the area we was visiting,
Cons: Hotel had no lift
6.3 Good
Cons: Location and very small rooms. Not Many facilities
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Booked online, turned up, went in and was pleasantly surprised. Fresh, very clean and friendly staff.

Victor Hugo - Lorient - Building

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and confortable room. Just a few minutes walking from the downtown and the ferrys. Hosts were very helpful and friendly.
4.5 Okay
Cons: Absolutely overpriced for this ugly room. The toilet flush didn‘t work at all and during the night I couldn‘t find any sleep because of the loud noises. WOULD NEVER GO BACK!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: close to town. #13 bus to the Eric Tabarly and Submarine museums is right there. Thanks for the concession tickets. Parking is good and €4 for a motocycle.
Cons: Its not the hotels fault that it was so hot, but it was their fault that they were prepared to do nothing about it, not even considering a fan, which, I tried to explain, would be a smart business move. So if it's going to be over the high 20c and your room is on the top floor and facing the road, I'd suggest you try somewhere else because you won't get much sleep. There was a persistent and annoying plumbing noise from the bathroom.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast
Cons: Bathroom is very small
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable clean helpful staff , great jam, garage for motorbike
Cons: Nothing
7.0 Good
Pros: Lovely staff doing their best in a property badly in need of refurbishment.
Cons: This is an old property looking very tired. The first thing that strikes you as you go upstairs is the worn and ingrained carpet and the shabby upstairs corridotmr. Some minor improvements have been made (usb sockets in the bedroom) but the bathroom door was simply hanging from runners with no means of closing properly. The room (which was one of the more expensive) was very small.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great for overnight- location, clean, convenient and friendly staff
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A very pleasant hotel, very close to the centre. The staff were very helpful and answered all our questions, breakfast was fine, nothing too much trouble

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Large clean modern room
Cons: Breakfast was expensive

Pros: Very well located staff was friendly and helpful. My room was on top of garage. Did not feel safe to open the window. The standard of the room was inferior to the usual quality of the Mercures Hotel
7.5 Good

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Have stayed in lots of Accomadation in France .worth paying a little more for better standard.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean, efficient, convenient and good service. Free and ample public parking very close by. Buffet breakfast satisfactory. As good a place to stay in Lorient as any if in town for one or two nights.
Cons: Design of ensuite bathroom awkward - have to squeeze past WC to get to shower. Drinking water not replenished for second night's stay. Nondescript, workaday outlook from bedrooms (may improve when building work on public square opposite completed).
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Shower was good
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good room, spacious and clean; comfortable
Cons: I drove to the hotel, I found a parking spot, but it's a public parking so you depend on your luck, basically. You're near the city center, so that's great, but the hotel's surroundings aren't that pretty
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room with a very comfortable bed, good pressured shower with free wifi to your use. Staff was very welcoming you.
Cons: Room price was a bit expensive for what you get and breakfast was very expensive for limited products. Wifi requires you to sign in by mail and was slow, though it was very consistent and did not lose connection at any time.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff are really friendly, and go out of their way to help
Cons: Nothing really, maybe a little bit expensive.

Cons: the fact that there is no soap or sponse for the kitchen. Guests are required to buy for their own use
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The place was easy to find, first the street then a sign with the name on so easy. Then the code given for the door entry was good but I was confused about the parking, in fact the same code operated the parking area security door, once the keypad was discovered since it appeared to be associated with another garage door not the one I had been directed to.

Cons: Price during the festival weekend was exhorbitant.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This Is a great little hotel. Nicest people you could meet. Although a three star, this would leave many four stars in the shade. Great central location, super rooms and super comfort. Really good restaurants nearby.
Cons: Nothing really.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: the best thing about the hotel was that the staff were really friendly and helpful - that makes a huge difference to the stay
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location was good, staff were very friendly and their English far better than my French. They were able to advise on good restaurants in the area and gave directions to the main tourist attractions. There is parking at the rear of the hotel but it is limited. The rooms themselves were very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was tasty, the DIY boiled egg machine was a bit hit and miss but eventually got the hang of it.
Cons: Only downside I can say was that the room itself size wise was good but the shower/toilet was a little......................snug!!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast. Very good hotel staff.
Cons: The elevator does not take you immediately to your room floor. As my room had a bathtub, I did not have a fixed shower, but a portable shower that I had to carry in order to have my bath.

Cons: Small rooms and for us as tourists the town wasn't a very touristic town. The hotel seems to be more geared to the overnight trade than tourism. The breakfasts are ok but get a bit boring after a few days!
6.3 Good
Pros: Breakfast was lovely and a good choice. Location to the city was okay.
Cons: Door didn’t open properly as bed was in the way.Room and bathroom were very small. It was very hot as windows couldn’t be opened much. It was overpriced for the area. Ghost area Saturday afternoon till Monday morning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It had everything we needed. Nearby parking, a supermarket, a bakery and far enough to walk into the centre of Lorient and the Interceltic festival to give a good workout and far enough out so as not to be disturbed by the inter-celtic festival revellers.
Cons: No air conditioning. Normally it wouldn't matter but as the temperature was nearing 30 degrees every night, it would have been good. A fan was provided but I don't enjoy being buffeted by a gale while I sleep. It was actually a very quiet fan!
6.8 Good
Pros: Bed very comfortable. Excellent choice for breakfast and good value.
Cons: Have stayed in Ibis city centre hotels before but this room was very much smaller than I had expected. Bathroom had black mould in shower and around window and smelt of damp. My experience of Ibis ‘towels’ is that they are all hard, thin miniature pieces of cloth so in this hotel wasn’t surprised to find same.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great helpful staff. Perfect location. Very clean. Amenities all very close by.
5.3 Okay
Pros: Friendly helpful staff at desk. Rooms are freshly painted well maintained even though the hotel itself is small and old.
6.4 Good
Pros: The hotel was very nice with spacious rooms. The location was a little farther from the water than we had thought, but it was centrally located.
Cons: The main thing we did not like was that there was no elevator.
7.2 Good
Pros: Clean, central, helpful staff.
6.4 Good
Cons: I stayed at the hotel with 2 other couples so that I could see that the sizes and the styles of the rooms were different. The prices of the rooms should depend on the sizes of the rooms. I had a small room with a tiny bathroom but I paid the same price than my friend who had a large room. Not really fair...
7.6 Good
Pros: It was very clean and comfortable and very central.
6.4 Good
Pros:
Cons: No Lift
5.2 Okay
Pros: The lady who ran the hotel was very nice and spoke some English which was helpful (hardly anyone in restaurants spoke any English at all). She recommended a great restaurant close to the hotel when we requested. We enjoyed breakfast, the long french bread, cheese, cereal, fruit, coffee and juice for eight euro.
Cons: There was only two very flat pillows on the bed! No computers available for internet access and no receptionist at night.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very pleasant and helpful, the restaurant food good value although the menu is limited - similar to menu ouvrier lunch time set menus. Breakfast was very good with a good selection. Bedroom small but very clean.
Cons: The double bed is 'standard' size and as a big person used to a larger size bed I found it cramped, should have asked for a twin room - my fault not the hotel's!! The outside of the hotel looks a bit run down but inside it is well decorated and modern. The hotel faces the docks and a large lorry park where there are freezer lorries parked, these have motors running all night so with windows open as it was hot (no air con!) it was a bit noisy. But this is a budget hotel not the Ritz so not really a complaint, more an observation by me.
3.8 Mediocre
Cons: We had previously asked to be given a quiet room and were told that all rooms were quiet. This was not the case. The walls seemed paper thin meaning that there was the sound of furniture being moved around a lot of the time, a couple adjacent were having a 'heated discussion' until 1am and we heard EVERY word. It sounded like there was someone playing a drum kit above us and in some other adjacent room it sounded like someone had a power tool workshop. Added to this was the tiny bedroom; the only place that 2 slim adults could pass each other was near the door. The hotels own description of a 'harbour view' is misleading. They fail to explain that the view is actually the back of crumbling dock side buildings that were built by the Germans during the second world war. There is no view where you can see water in a harbour.
2.5 Mediocre
Cons: Smells damp rendering come off the walls
7.0 Good
Pros: The manager was very accommodating as we had booked three twin rooms but he let us have six single rooms at no extra charge. It was very clean and the rooms had a modern feel. Close walk to the WWII submarine base.
Cons: Location was chosen as it we very near the submarine base we had planned to visit, looked very nice on the web site but was located adjacent to a busy industrial estate and looked a little run down from the outside, nice and clean inside with staff happy to help. Breakfast was a little bit expensive at 8 euros but it was nothing out of the ordinary, typical continental breakfast.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast on Monday was good but we did not realise we could have it on the Sunday morning as we thought the restaurant was closed.
Cons: Better signage on the restaurant to indicate that it would be open over the weekend for breakfast only.
5.5 Okay
Cons: No hot water available in the morning and evening
5.5 Okay
Pros: Location was reasonably good.
Cons: Very basic hotel and prices doubles for festival.
6.3 Good
Pros: Not too hard to find a parking space at the weekend.
Cons: Arriving to find the place deserted,I then used the door access code that had been sent to get in and retrieve my room key.The hand basin in the bathroom leaked around the pedestal and the grimy floor tiles indicated that it had been doing so for a while.During the night, the wind got up and the roller shutter on the window clattered constantly from 2.30 am and prevented further sleep.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Room comfy and large, staff friendly and welcoming, breakfast and evening meals were excellent value for money. I stayed earlier in the year with my daughter so knew what to expect. I would go again.
7.0 Good
Pros: Clean room
Cons: In middle of an industrial estate ideal for lorry drivers
