Pros. Location is fantastic and just minutes away from shopping and sites of maastricht. In addition, the rooms were spacious and very clean
Cons. The staff was fairly unfriendly and offered no support with our bags despite my wife being 4 months pregnant. Parking was also a nightmare. Worse however by far was that the room was baking from the truly hot summer and there was only one small fan to keep the room cool and as a result we slept quite poorly as we were drenched in sweat by the morning

What are the pros of staying at Boutique Hotel Grote Gracht?
Beautiful rooms, friendly staff, amazing breakfast. Central location Great price for spacious and comfy room Newly renovated bathrooms Comfortable bed Complimentary coffee and water in the room Charming room, rustic and modern. comfortable and very well located Nice hotel with a very nice location, walking distance to shops, restaurants and the Maastricht Christmas market. Great shower and comfy bed. Helpful staff. It's a little TARDIS - !'ve stayed in much bigger rooms that were much less well equiped!! Central location, nice interiors Great location, friendly staff, comfortable and clean rooms. The location was amazing. Right in the centre of the old city. Easy walk to many of the city’s attractions. Lots of cafes and eateries close by and a supermarket around the corner. I loved the old world feel of the building and surrounds. Big room with a very nice bathroom. The building is old and historical what I like very much. Everything was in the room coffee, thee, fridge, television, everything. Staff were really kind and helpful. Location was brilliant. Great mini fridge. Staff was amazing, room lovely. Great location. Lots of character, with ‘patina’. The courtyard is great for quiet sitting and outdoor breakfast, a true gem. Very friendly staff. Room was spacious and well equipped. The interior was an interesting and well thought of mix of "antique" and modern. Location was superb: in the middle of the city but the room so quiet you did not notice you were in the city, Exelent location.. Charming The staff was incredible! If for nothing else, I'd return for them! The room was gorgeous, like a rustic manor house, and the location was spot on, right by the city center. Breakfast was simple but decent, with a small selection of cheese and deli meats, baked goods, fresh bread, coffee and juice, as well as eggs and bacon, if one wishes. Not gourmet, but pleasant and filling. Cute little hotel with very friendly staff. It almost feels like a family-run hotel. Showing signs of wear here and there, but overall the room was fine. Very nice courtyard for breakfast. Very nice staff; location very good in centre of Maastricht. Beautiful building, at a great location. Loved the vintage feel of the rooms. Great location also Nice room - really nice bathroom Good facilities. Great location. Coffee machine in the room and room cleaning every day Wonderful location in the heart of Maastricht’s old town.
What are the cons of staying at Boutique Hotel Grote Gracht?
Absolute worst hotel experience ever! Noise on the street @ night No elevator, very steep stairs. Decor/finishing overall quite old Fridge in my room wasn’t working properly The hotel claims to have a private parking but they don't! We chose this hotel over other ones in the same location, based on that information but they turned out not having any.... It's not a temporary situation they just don't have... But they they do have a 2,5€ discount In 10€/day parking (I paid 15€ to park the car from 9pm to 4pm the next day!) https://parkingmaastricht.nl/ https://maps.app.goo.gl/Hb89Mvu27xZVovSt9 located at 12 minutes walking distance from the hotel... That is just really not honest, I couldn't look for alternatives on the spot without wasting another hour, it made me furious while I lost precious time and money dealing with the parking/purchase on my phone at the reception + then had to drive around 6min + then 12min walks, while sick and hungry. And while I was expecting a normal, immediate check-in and rest... It didn't turn out that way and for that reason we cannot give a positive feedback, We had some trouble checking in as we could not get into the hotel as the door was locked. The room was not as clean a we hoped for - a lot of dust, marks on the walls and calcium deposits in the shower. We also requested a quiet room, but the room we got was right next to a main entrance to other rooms with a door slamming as other guests entered the hotel section. There was a horrible smell in the room (on arrival) but it dissipated once I opened the windows and aired it out (and it didn't return). Humidity is infiltrating above windows, a lot of stains on walls, it would need to be refreshed. Rooms on the street are not quiet, people shouting late at night Beds uncomfortable and also no heating Some rooms have the sink and shower facilities in the room. This is not clear from the pictures and was an unpleasant surprise for me sharing my room with a friend. Luckily a room with separate bathroom was still available I was forced to move for the first night in another hotel because the water in my room wasn't working. Moved back the day after. They didn't offer to manage the baggage transfer at least. No more comments. The floor was cold because there weren’t any rugs. The shower hose was also quite damaged so it sprayed the water around. Bed was terrible. Headboard was old and fabric was falling off. Every movement resulted in fabric ending up on the pillows. Bed wasn't attached to headboard and was on wheels so kept rolling away from the wall. Matras was also old and soft. The rooms are in serious need of renovation; my room had an exposed shower, not a proper bathroom, which is not clear from booking photos. None so far the bathroom could be better The toilet should have a door! The breakfast so far overpiced..simple fresh, nice , but limitted options and expensive. Narrow staircase No elevator. the room was a disaster, bathroom facilities very poor, old and used up furniture - bad room design - not the money worth it no full figure mirror in the room. some free other guest in the floor kept banging the door and talk out during the night. Not very fresh, the sink was not working properly, dust in the stairs. It is an ok place but there is better. We had the ground floor room next to the open garden where people were sitting with dogs. A bit noisy. I think the breakfast was okay, but too expensive for what they offer. The toilet was not very clean (rotten wood). The single room was very small!!! The bathroom didn’t have any doors or walls, so there is zero privacy. And the beds were not very comfortable. Staircase was steep and no lift. Fine if you’re in annex or lower floors but elderly wouldn’t find top floor easy. Staff were really helpful so would just ask up front. After checking in, we found that the sewage had overflowed in the bathroom. Room smelly since content was from the toilets in the rooms above. We asked for another room, but we where told none was available. After 45 minutes wait for the room to recleaned, we reluctently moved in. At 2100 that evening the toilet in the floor above us was flushed again, which content ended in our shower. After reporting this, they found us a room in another hotel. So everything packed and moved. Other hotel was more noisy. Did not really like this since we had an early start the next morning to drive back to spain. Sent email to the hotel, but NO response. It was very hot in the room, no airconditioning or ventilator very small room, small bed that was standing against the wall. The light switch was in a place where if you turn around in your bed you touch the switch all the time and switch on the light in the middle of the night. Not a great experience. Breakfast was supposed to be ready at 07:30, but only at 08:00 we could start eating something - but there was no bread yet and half of the breakfast buffet was empty. We felt breakfast was pricey at 18+ euro so decided against it. No elevator, very steep staircase (maximum 3rd floor) -smells sewer in bathroom -shower won’t drain properly TV was to little ! No water bottles ! The bathroom was without door, and no privacy in this. airco made loud noise ethic room window broken shutters poor interieur poor lounge very poor garden with dead plants and very dirty Drain of shower did not allow full pressure showering. Curtain was not properly working. Fridge was missing (convenient for longer stay). TV was not working.
