Friendly staff. Rooms were good-size and very clean. Location is in town with shopping and other restaurants nearby.
I have been staying at this hotel for my visits to Marktoberdorf for over fi.fty years It is a friendly convenient accomodation. It is run by the third generation of oweners and the older generation is present daily to see that things are done right
meals, rooms and service are very good. There is a spa center in the hotel, but no pool one issue - the hotel is located across the railway station and there is a park behind the hotel where young people socialize till midnight and this is very noisy and annoying
The hotel is very close to the train station; it has a wonderful wellness center. There was a long circuitous walk to my room and my room was over the courtyard which was noisy and smoky.
Central location, large comfortable room overlooking small square yet still quiet with an excellent breakfast and u/g parking. Not cheap.
The staff. always a smile Is is a older hotel with nowadays prices. could be lowered
Everything was almost perfect: staff is friendly and ready to help, location is perfect for people travelling without a car, room was spacious, no noise from outside, breakfast is good, etc.
The room was very big and was facing the mountains. The bathroom was brand new, big and clean. The hotel is close to the castle and the mountains, very handy. The staff didn't speak English. The food wasn't good.
The Hotel was beautiful, staff were very friendly and the location was very good.
Friendly staff, cleanliness Our room was overlooking the train station which was noisy due to people (teenagers) hanging around
The location is very good and convenient, the staff was helpful and courteous. Please keep it up.
Everything, including the breakfast was great.
Location is good, just 5 mins walk fr fussen station.much cheaper than the adjacent hotels. But i think it cannot be regarded as a hotel. I guess the owner of the "hotel" owns several floors or rooms of the house and rent them out for tourist or for short term rental. The hotel checkin is supposed to be done at a cafe on the ground floor of the house, but the staff of the cafe are not quite helpful. When we arrived at 6pm while the cafe staff were closing their business, they refused to let us in and even ignored us. We need to go back to the station to make phone call to the house owner. ( i dont think the cafe owner n the hotel owner is the same person. i guess they hv a deal that the cafe just provides breakfast n checkin assistance). Then the owner brought us to the back of the house n walked along several stairs, which was quite dark, old n the setting was a bit terrible. But when we entered into the room, it was clean, bright, tidy n larger than I ever imagined. All in all, Inside the room was ok, n I just not felt quite comfortable with the setting of the corridor n the stairs. Btw, there is a supermarket near the hotel. We bought some fruits n drinks at v reasonable prices.
There was nothing redeming about this hotel We had to wait 20 minutes in the bakery for someone to show up to allow us to check in. Once in the "Bed and Breakfast" there are lights hanging from the ceiling, there are old mattresses in the hallway, the door to the bathroom doesn't close, the sweetly leave you the cleaning products so that you can clean the bathroom yourself, the tv doesn't work, and the room smells like old cigarettes. My favorite part of the experience was when he asked for cash as soon as we arrived (not at the end of the stay), and then added "fees" to the confirmed total, and finally asked us to take the paperwork for him to the tourist office. All of this is capped off with your breakfast - which to get you have to walk down four flights of stairs, knock on a door, wait for them to give you the food (2 pieces of bread, and some meat) and then walk back up the four flights of stairs to your room.
it is very convenient in terms of the location, close to the bus/railway station and old town. The room is simple and clean, it come with a small kitchen facilities which is very convenient, the bathroom is newly renovated too! The breakfast is from the bakery downstairs and it is very good. After all, it is a simple B&B, good enough if you are looking for something simple and money worth. The gentleman who lead you to the room is a very friendly and nice guy speaking very good English. the only problem was upon the arrival, as the bakery is simply a contact point, if you are lucky enough to arrive before it is closed, it will be better i think. We just happened to walk pass the bakery and when we returned, it was almost closed and we were waiting outside the bakery until the gentleman come pick us up in a cold and dark winter night.
Location is good.....near to train station. . The hotel should have a elevator, as we had to climb to the 3rd level with our luggage
It provided a perfect base for me to explore the nearby dream castles, the old town and other wonderful sceneries. Perfectly located in the town, only 1or 2 minutes from that small railway station where you arrive; the bus stop in the front of the railway station can provide you buses to castles. If you queue early enough for bus, it only takes you around 15 minutes to reach the tickets office to castles. A superstore is nearby, where I bought food and drinks with lowest prices I found in Germany. The room is quite good: clean simple, with all the basic necessities to help yourself, and the staffs are very friendly, with typical German breakfast, I found the price I pay was quite valued. This is no 'Haus Gabriel B&B' outside. Although the bakery is exactly like what you would see on their picture, I still spent some time to locate its address. As the first day I arrived there late, missed the check in time I had fixed with the staff, I found the bakery was closed, no one was there! It was only around 6 pm! I had to contact the staff through the telephone number they provided; I had to go to the nearby hotel to find a telephone to phone them. Fortunately, there was still an answer.
location is nearby the station , staff (owner) is nice and room is clean
The location of this B&B is perfect for those visiting Fussen. For American visitors...the breakfast part of the B&B will not be a traditional American breakfast.
Staff was nice.Location was perfect.Room was clean.I like here!! I wanted to pay by creditcard coz I am tourist so I didnt have much cash! But anyways,I like this B&B.
Haus Gabriel is a B&B service, you get what's advertised. It is a budget accommodation albeit slightly on the expensive side for the offer. The rooms were fitted with facilities; this somewhat compensated for lack of dedicated breakfast hall. The staff member we met was very helpful, spoke good English, advised us on local attractions and places to eat. The quality of renovations made leaves a bit to desire in order to bring this B&B up to the European standard. The rooms were advertised as double but were in fact twin. No credit cards accepted - but this is somewhat of a problem for the whole shopping and staying experience in Germany so was no surprise.
Location Unpleasant attitude of male night clerk at hotel - night of 10 to 11 May - putting it mildly.
The hotel was very central to the places of interest and the many good restaurants and cafes. We had a suite of rooms which felt quite luxurious and the breakfast selection was amazing - smoked salmon and sparkling wine quite out of our league. very comfortable and very clean. Perhaps a bit noisy with German fans in the square celebrating one of Germany's wins in the World Cup but definitely a good experience and value for money.
central location in old town centre ;comfortable rooms ;friendly staff;excellent breakfast buffet. None
In the center of the city. Good reachable by car.
What a fantastic location in Kempten, The Keller Bar is well worth a visit under the hotel.................cocktails to die for :-)
Very good anf friendly hotel. We came on motorbikes and they had a garage for us. Very central placement.
The location made it easy to see Bavaria, and get to attractions in southern Germany. Breakfast time was problematic. Too few staff to clear tables meant that on more than one occasion we arrived for breakfast to find empty tables from previous diners that had not been cleared, and having to make space ourselves in order to dine. We dined at different times each day, so this was not just at one particular time.
The staff was friendly, the food at the restaurant top-notch, and I had a very large and spacious room. Very much enjoyed my stay and was only sorry that I couldn't stay longer.
Exceptionally helpful staff, extremely well run hotel
Relatively inconvenient for city centre: about 25min steep downhill walk, poor bus connections, and taxi costs around €8.
This hotel suited my needs very well as I had a very short visit to the area for a business meeting the next morning. There was little I could complain about.
Unexpectedly good Mediterranean restaurant obviously very popular with locals. Clean and comfortable generaly. A bit further off the autobahn system and out of the town of Kempten than expected.
Everything! The hotel was nice and a in a good position. The staff at the bar restaurant was simply great!
Friendly and helpful staff, clean and well kept rooms, good restaurant. Could do with more parking spaces.
helpful staff. Clean & spacious bedroom and en-suite. good buffet breakfast
Convenient stop after skiing holiday in Austria. Excellent Restaurant with vey good service.
An excellent breakfast but could do with re-stocking more regularly. Not much left at 8.30am!
Efficient and welcoming hotel. Generous sized room. Well located for a break on a long journey. The free cancellation was useful as we were one night late arriving and they re-booked us at no extra charge.
the italian restaurant associated with the hotel. breakfast had flies tooting about. no attempt to cover the food with a screen cover or anything. unsanitary....
Location Front day was not manned when we arrived to leave our luggage to sightsee. Had to time our departure around the time the desk was open so we could store our bags while we went sightseeing.
Great location. Loved having two bedrooms. No elevator. Parking was very expensive. Breakfast should come with the room but we found a great breakfast place down the street.
Very pleasant atmosphere; great breakfast; friendlyness of the staff.
All in the hotel is very well balanced and you dont feel you are in hotel but in a house of a friend. Decoration, confort, breakfast... everything was very good. The best was the sense of relax, confort and quiet hapiness you feel in the hotel. With no doubt, the character of the hotel ownership is in every corner and she is really warm.
Great location, excellent breakfast, courteous and friendly environment in a beautiful part of Germany. Very well located for access to castles, spa, car and bike hire. We will visit again!
Superb homemade breakfast with extensive range of homemade produce. Quite exceptional. Great location for visiting castles.
The view of the castles was excellent. The location was easy to find and get around from and the breakfast selection was exceptional considering it was the normal European continental - they even had eggs!!
Interior, good furniture, there is no smell of a smoke from cigarettes in premises(rooms) and on a balcony, absence of noise (silent hotel) Absence of a refrigerating case in a room
It was clean and the room large. The location is very average. The room looked out onto the neighbors clothes line. The proprietor uses many scents (perfumes) in the room and in the bedding. Not good for guests sensitive to perfumes. No internet access could be provided. The car parking area out the back was littered with dog poo. The breakfast was ok but cereal stale.
Nice and clean hotel, but wasn't what I expected (from the room description and pictures). I stayed disappointed cause the view on the Neuschwanstein Castle wasn't as expected (hidden from a fron building and a tree + very far).
Friendly staff, spoke English, able to advise on local restraunts
Good location and nice view. Breakfast is excellent There is no wireless internet and there is no cable for connecting through Lan
The pleasant atmosphere of the hotel, and kind restaurant staff Always having to remember to reserve a table for dinner
the coffee we had a room with no view
Good location; very friendly staff; good car park
Friendly staff on reception and in dining room. Easy parking, very good dinner menu and delicious breakfast. Nice atmosphere. No
Helpful staff. Good breakfast.Excellent location. Quirky design of room---Bathroom was on a mezzanine level up a spiral staircase, not the best after late night drinks.
hotel is in a historic building with a nice garden; Hotel has 4 stars but the equipement of the room and the services are not according to a 4 star hotel; room lacks style; pillows are far too soft; blankets too small; no cattle in the room;
The central locaton, and the friendly staff. Tables at dinner not being available to residents without an early proir booking.
location, 'ancient' charming building, good restaurant No english TV channel, magazines/newspapers
The hotel is centrally located and the rooms were very clean; the staff was friendly and helpful. The fact that a decent restaurant is part of the hotel was very convenient on a day where we ran out of time to search for a place to eat. Our room was facing a very busy intersection right in front of the hotel. I shouldn't complain since we could have asked for a different room which we didn't... Fortunately traffic calmed down at night but if you are planning to sleep in ask for a room facing the back since by 7:00 in the morning it's getting loud. The bathrooms are located in the upper floor which you reach through spiral stairs; this looks cool but there is no room for a shower but only a bathtub which you can't stand in due to the slope of the ceiling. What upset me the most is the fact that they charge for internet access, something that was appropriate 10 years ago but nowadays doesn't cost them any money
Beautiful setting outside of Fussen on a hill above a lake. Room nice size, clean. Quiet - great for walking and biking. Fun Irish pub with good food run by hotel owners in basement. Infrequent bus service to hotel area. We took taxi from train to hotel (11 each way) and to castle (22 each way)
Convenient for an overnight while on a long journey
Ideal location for southern Germany, Bavaria and travel to Austria. Friendly and helpful staff, secure parking and central location.
The room was clean. The breakfast buffet was good. No air-conditioning and only a desk fan in the room to cool down. Lots of street noise. Decor was very old, worn and ugly. Bathroom was very small.
Clean, good food, handy location We are non-smokers, too much smoke in the lobby from smoking guests, smoke permeates the rooms upstairs
location is fine, hotel is clean , staff very nice , breakfast very good ,price very good.
The hotel is ideally located very close to the town center. Rooms were well equipped, comfortable and clean. Hotel staff was very helpful. Breakfast was exellent, even better than we expected
Easy to find and really close to the city center, rooms well equipped but too small also for too people. none
Easy to find. Garage in the basement. Room quite small with double bed. Not much room to circulate. No hair dryer
All of it. We stayed there for 7 days and were well looked after, there was nothing to find fault with. We were a group of four persons 61 to 70 years. (but only 18 inside our heads !!)
Close proximity to Neuschwanstein/Hohenschwangau Castles. It was quiet and not too close to the busier, Fussen shopping tourist area but was only minutes away by car. The rooms were clean and spacious enough for a family with small children. A coffee maker, microwave, and iron would add the finishing touch of 21st century accomodations. Some of the services offered (Spa/Massage) and written about are not available on weekends. This might prompt some to stay at hotels with a more contemporary setting.
Nothing explicite NO Payment by Mastercard or Visa accepted, very low quality spa area for four star hotel
very friendly atmosphere, the price I got was very low and the breakfast was really good
the view, very nice studio, a very good location, and the swiming pool the lady at the reception wasnt kind, she didnt treat us nice.
Hotel Konig Ludwig is in a very pleasant and quiet little town in Southern Bavaria. The castles are close by, as is dining and shopping in Fussen - about 2 miles away. Rooms are very clean and the facilities are beautiful - much more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel. I could easily live here for an extended period. The staff - all of them - were helpful and friendly. I enjoyed my stay and will return. Pack shampoo, conditioner, hand cream, etc. None of these are provided in your room. Morning coffee will require a short walk to the hotel's dining area.
Cleanliness and size of the room. Late arrivals are problematic (night guard was not present at the time of arrival and speaks only German). No shampoo in the room.
Very close to castles Neuschwanschtein and Hohenschwangau and close to Fuessen, but you need a car pleas note For such a high price relatively I was expecting Hair Drier, some tea/coffee facilities in the room and also an iron for ironing the clothes. So I guess it depends how much you get the hotel for.
The room was more like an apartment - very spacious & a lovely balcony. Because we were only staying at the hotel for one night we were only told on arrival that this didn't permit us to use the swimming pools/spa facilities unless we paid 10 euros each for the privilege. Also we were sent a letter telling us we would be eligible for a 15% discount off our bill as work on the spa facilities etc were not complete - why the letter when it didn't affect us? We were not given a 15% discount on settling our account. The hotel was very big & impersonal. Breakfast was a free for all!
Very nice, modern hotel, but most of the guests are over 50's ;)
Perfect quiet location with south-facing views across Hopfensee, undisturbed by small village road running between hotel and lake; private family-run hotel with individual character and efficient and friendly service; beautifully appointed, spacious and comfortable bedroom in unfussy modern style; pleasant walks right from the door, with start of mountain trails within a short drive (we picked up excellent free walking map at brand new tourist office a few steps away).
location, family atmosphere, good food noises from neighbouring room due to thin walls
The staff were very attentive and because I had booked for two nights, had upgraded the room to a front view of the lake. Fantastic. Nothing at all
excellent staff - very friendly. Room was fantastic with an amazing view of the lake. Breakfast was also plentiful with lots of variety and very tasty would have liked to have air conditioning as it gets very hot during the day and the room gets stuffy
The view and location where nice. The hotel has a little car park. Of course you can park in front of the hotel if its a quit day.
Very relaxing atmosphere; delightful balcony; good food; welcoming and pleasant staff; close to sights in area.
the best location ever!the room was lovely and everything from the breakfast to our room was great and luxurious!perfect 10 from us!!!
Beautiful scenery, lovely room, pleasant staff, delicous food. would have been nicer to have a double bed instead of two singles stuck together with individual duvets.
Super accommodation, friendly and efficient staff, good value for money No
I enjoyed every minute No
nice staff, pretty grounds, close to town nothing,, for the price a great value
Amazing views, tranquil gardens, great breakfast Extremely small room with the side of the bed pushed up against the wall, uncomfortable bed, no air conditioning, wasp nest on window
The staff was incredibly helpful and attentive. They seemed to really care and be very enthusiastic to help. The breakfast was good, not great. I have stayed all over Europe many times over the past three decades, so when I say that the rooms (we had to get two to accommodate two adults and two children ages 5 and 7) were small. I mean they were VERY VERY VERY SMALL. One of the two really was the size of a closet - my closet at home! The beds, themselves, looked like the cheapest plastic Ikea bed you could purchase. Needless to say the bed felt terrible and we all go a terrible nights sleep. Beware, this isn't really a Villa as described, and the grounds also were not as picturesque as depicted online. We paid WAY TOO MUCH for what we got. BEWARE.
The hotel is in a beautiful rural location between two towns with a beautiful country feel inside. We upgraded our room for a few Euro and got a suite with an included bathroom, balcony, huge bed, couch with a hide-a-bed and beautiful furniture. the staff didn't seem quite as friendly as I'm accustomed to in Bavaria, and their English was really rough for an area that I would think would attract so many tourists.
The friendliness and willingness of the staff to meet our every need. In fact, when we had to leave earlier then they served breakfast, they made a lunch for us to take with us instead! No, I cannot think of one thing I didn't like about this hotel.
Out of the way but has a lot of charm. The staff were great. Food was great and breakfast WAS included which made it one of the best and best value rooms we had on our trip. There were several bathrooms to choose from and they were clean and updated. No TV in rooms, but it may have changed the feel of the area if there had been.
