The staff was extremely nice and helpful
We liked having our own room and own space, we liked the free coffee though there were never any spoons. We liked that it was one of the few hostel which provides towels, though they were stained it was a nice touch.
The hostel was sold as having “free breakfast” which turned out to be a vat of pancake mix which you cook for yourself between 8-10am (which explains why the air is thick with smoke). However if you’re not downstairs by 9 to beat the other people to it, you best have a back up plan for breakfast, because you’re not getting any here. The kitchen facilities were extremely poor and not well monitored, we only saw two staff members throughout our 4 day stay. Cigarette butts lined the floor of the bathroom and dirty shoes take up the lengths of corridor. The kitchen window is held open by a chopping board and the whole place is extremely reminiscent of a very low budget university accommodation. “Free WiFi” is also a lie: you get about an hour a day and after that you have to pay.
It’s exactly as advertised and does what it says on the tin
10 min walk to the beach and right next to Albert park, also has a tram stop right outside. Pancakes you get to make yourself so no tiny meals!
After staying in the city for a while the place felt a bit dated, there was also a lingering weird smell about the hall.
I booked to stay 7 days but we had problems because of the noise in the night and we had to wake up very early to go to work. As soon as I realised it, I spoke with the staff and in the same minute he said if I wasn’t happy with my stay he could give me the money back because unfortunately he couldn’t make sure the people who were staying at the hostel were 100% of the time quiet. They returned all my money including the booking fees. Thanks! Regards, Mariana Bendix.
