Location Beautiful gardens - flowers Sound of the ocean They putting on a new roof - construction started too early and included our deck and deck chairs. Deck chairs were taken away and at one point plywood sheets leaned against our sliding glass patio door. They told us about the construction when we checked in but said we would not be bothered. There is however a new roof for future guest. We also wished the windows and the sliding glass doors had screens so we could open the windows and not worry about bugs or critters.
Beds could be more comfortable, and the remote didn't work in our room. The sliding door to our patio was very difficult to open but the space was large and the property was peaceful.
Location- walking distance to Mendocino. The staff was nice. The beds were bad and the wi-fi was terrible.
The proximity to town is wonderful. The gardens on the property are also lovely. My guess is that the property is just too much to maintain (the place is huge). The room was dark and smelled of mold. The wifi also did not work!!! I couldn't sleep a wink here. Done tv show was filmed here 20 years ago and the hill house has not updated since then. Not worth the money. For $20 more my companion and I went to a much nicer place with beach views and a fireplace the next night.
We had a wonderful stay at the hill house, if I could change one thing though it would be the odor of the room. It smelled as if a poopy diaper had been lost somewhere in the room. We looked everywhere and couldn't locate the source.
I arrived at the Heritage House Resort for a romantic Valentines weekend with my girlfriend. Booked 2 nights over 1 month prior and even was going to have Valentines dinner at their restaurant. Upon arrival checking in was slow and we had to wait for mandatory Bell Service to take us to the room...we waited over 30minutes in the lobby . They proceeded to take us through the restaurant, up a back staircase, and to a room above the restaurant. The room was very old, it smelled, wallpaper peeling off the wall, the chairs were stained, the bathroom had two faucets (one for hot water and one for cold), and the carpet had stains...VERY GROSS ROOM! I felt like is this a joke by putting me in the creepy haunted room. I paid for a upgraded room with fireplace, not an old room with a wall heater. I went to the front desk to get another room and of course they were sold out and there was nothing that could be done. The hotel said the room automatically was assigned when I booked and it is just "luck of the draw". This was not acceptable and it was a bait and switch since I booked via Kayak vs directly with their hotel. The only nice thing that happened is they refunded my money immediately and the front desk, Evan, helped us by finding a bed and breakfast nearby for us to stay...however it was only available one night and our long weekend away turned into a short trip with lots of driving for nothing since all hotels were booked for Valentines night. Needless to say we did not go to Valentines dinner at the Heritage House after they ruined our weekend. Don't stay at this hotel...but if you do I highly recommend calling and confirming your reservation and the room you are in to make sure it is a renovated room with fireplace.
Views, room size, bed comfort, location. Such a beautiful place but requires upkeep. And that is not happening. Understaffed so no housekeeping. Had to call 3 times to get towels and never got our room cleaned. No maintenance staff so bathroom doors off the runner, freezer door fell off in my hands and broken lightbulb with glass shards left in lamp.
Room w balcony and view of ocean
The room was beautiful. Very modern, clean, well laid out and comfortable. Staff was welcoming, helpful and efficient. Wait staff for both meals were friendly, well-informed. Food was very good and reasonably priced. The grounds were not as well kept up. There used to be a lovely "green garden" open to the public showing their home grown produce. I miss the unplugged feeling--no phone, etc. Everything was so luxurious but the towels in the bathroom were unraveling. When I I told the front desk, and showed them the picture, their reaction was underwhelming.
Our room was nothing special. There was a microwave and a coffee maker (but not creamer of sugar). The beach is just a five minute walk. Wi-fi was non-existent. Old TV. Generally a bit on the run-down side.
I liked that it was set back a bit and not right on the highway. It was quiet and the beach access suburb. Enjoyed a wonderful sunset!
The lady at the counter was so rude we walked out and didn't stay. Because of our reservation terms we had to pay for a full night still. We had to pay our one night and drove 8 miles north and found a much better hotel for the night. Stay away people.
Front staff guy was great. Comfy room Big room Lawn and yard area Private beach QUIET! A little worn Dirty/dusty baseboards Tiny bath towels Tiny tv No extra power outlets
Easy to find. Easy beach Access. It was run down and dumpy. First room we were in looked freshly painted, but musty. No phone, no cell service and wifi didn't work. Completely issolated in uncharted territory was a bit frightening. Second room we were in, the bathroom was so tiny I was claustrophobic. You couldn't even dry off without stepping into main room. Wifi somewhat worked but still no cell service and the room phone wouldn't call out. There was also ants everywhere. Bed had a pee pad under the sheets and was gross. The Thai food was disappointing as well. I asked for it to be cooked a little spicy and it was bland and mushy. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Would have rather gotten all my teeth removed then stay ever again
The location and the private beach were nice. The view of the private beach from the balcony was also nice. The rooms are old and not necessarily well maintained. The maid service was awful. We had no maid service on the first day and only partial maid service on the second day. Our coffee pot and cups were not cleaned and the beds were poorly made. The 19" TV worked well but was too small for the room and # of occupants. The wifi and cell service were non-existent in spite of having a wifi name and code.
The staff is really nice, the place is near several hiking spots and close to the Fort Bragg downtown. It has a private beach!
Quiet environment Free WiFi Ocean view is kind of misleading Poor customer service Misleading room rate Lights in room very dim Furnitures and TV are old and outdated Beds are too soft
This motel needs to be updated. Maintenance is poor. 19" tv, really? I haven't seen one of those since the 70's. Bedding and towels probably from the 70's. The door would not stay closed. Went to breakfast and came back to find the door wide open. No cell service. No wifi. Nice parking lot.
It was quiet and we liked the beach just down the hill The bathroom very worn
