Excellent 10.0
Pros: Staying at the Diplomat in Merida is like being at home... This is such a lovely, cozy and chic place! Every detail is amazing; you are going to find fresh flowers in your room and at the breakfast place. Neal, Sarah and all the people working there are so kind and careful! Breakfast is delicious and the pool area is gorgeous!
Cons: Everything is lovely there. Even if I think about something I did not like I can not find it. Lovely and beautiful place!
Excellent 9.0
Pros: - Beautifully designed property - Wonderful helpful host - Great breakfast
Cons: - A bit pricey vs other options
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The Diplomat is managed with taste, intelligence and great attention to the customer and to details. The owner provided us with spot on recommendations for dinner, shops and places to see and we had an amazing, though short, time here. Simply right, we strongly recommend it!
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Such a beautiful oasis in Mérida! The rooms and the pool are super nice but what makes this place really special is the personal touch: Sara & Neil made us felt welcome from the first second. It’s a place of superlatives: We had the best Margarita there, the best breakfast and got the best tips for both, Mérida and Yucatán. The only downside, really, is to know you won’t get a better breakfast at any other place for the rest of your trip 😜 Thank you Sara & Neil 🙏
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Beautiful interior and exterior design, esp bathroom. - amazing staff, super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was AMAZING. So delicious!
Cons: Nothing!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: A quiet environment and a well-designed room give you a sense of relaxation. The hospitality of Sara and Neil makes you forget that you are in a hotel, breakfast is healthy and delicious, and all the details are perfect. It's an unforgettable experience.
Cons: it's all okay
Excellent 10.0

Okay 5.0
Cons: They said they have hot tub but nothing any hot tub.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: A beautiful gem tucked away on an off street in the older section of Merida. Excellent service, professional COVID-19 protocols in place, and a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. Exquisite!
Cons: Absolutely nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The provided a locked area to store our personal bikes. Very friendly. Was a nice quiet stay.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The service and staff at this hotel is outrageously good. The food is excellent. No complaints.
Cons: Nothing to report.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Outstanding food at very reasonable prices - this small hotel runs cooking schools that are frequented by tourists staying at other hotels; family run boutique hotel owned and operated by Jan and Rita for the last 15 years. Extremely well managed.
Cons: Location wasn't quite as close to downtown as we expected - but a manageable 10-15 minute walk to center of town. Not cheap, but reasonable considering the over-delivery by the owner/managers
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Highlight was the owners and the staff. Absolutely wonderful. So helpful and professional. The chef is great too. Amazing breakfast. And the hotel is lovely, an oasis of peace and quiet. Would 100% recommend
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This hotel is conveniently located to Merida’s shopping, ATMs, restaurants, and points of interest. Plus, the hotel offers a first rate breakfast and bar. The staff have great connections to guides and tours in and around the city. I highly recommend this hotel.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Excellent service - great room - delicious food and drink - cheerful staff- very quiet and good sleep Literally no complaints whatsoever - book early as it fills up !

Good 7.0
Pros: Inside the hotel has a castle feel, beautiful. The staff is very friendly, polite and helpful. Due to the bathroom on the mezzanine, the room feels big. Breakfast very tasty.
Cons: The fact that there are no actual windows that you can open, only a small skylight in the bathroom area, I always need a window where I sleep.. The bed had the mosquito net however we ended up bitten every day/night of our stay, not sure if this was in the room or outside.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The environment of calm and genuine is great
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Incredibly beautiful property. We (my wife, 17 yr old daughter and me) stayed in Room 7, which was palatial and incredibly comfortable. The staff was very accommodating, even serving us our included breakfast a half hour earlier than they would normally serve so that we could make our flight this morning.
Cons: That we didn’t stay longer.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: amazing room and common area. the location in the hipster, nice zone
Excellent 8.0
Pros: - good location - nice breakfast - very helpful, polite and good English speaking staff
Cons: - rooms with very small windows in high ceilings - extra paid parking quite far from the hotel
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very helpful staff!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The place was very clean. Also the staff is very helpful always checking to see if they can help.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Breakfast was amazing. The location to the city is fantastic! The pool was refreshing.
Cons: The hot water system for showers. Very very minor issue. I shouldn't even mention it, but i noticed it and I had to be honest. The water will just go super hot or super cold without adjusting anything.

Excellent 9.2
Pros: The owners are friendly and helpful, plus they have a tiny dog Mustasa, I believe her name is, that is as sweet as can be. I would get up a bit early and sit in the courtyard filled with trees and plants until breakfast time. Mustasa kept me company every morning. The house itself is beautifully restored and provides a venue for changing works of art. My room was a comfortable size and the air conditioner worked well—which was important during the sizzling days that I spent in Merida.
Cons: The bathroom sink is awkward. It is more a huge trough than a sink, and can’t be filled with water. The faucets are set far back from the front of the sink, which makes it difficult to use.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Ah we loved our short stay in Merida with Gina, Jean Pierre and Mustaza! We had a great room, the location is so easy to get around (and parking in front of the house) and we got so many local hints - amazing! Very loving, stylish and interesting furnishing. We became huge fans of this place and would go back any time! Thank you <3
Cons: Nothing to complain at all!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Jean Piere and his wife where great hosts. You live together at there incredible place, full of art and cosy furniture. We had a room next to the garden and it was just peaceful. The pool is refreshing and the sunterrace is a place to relax. Jean Piere gave us a lot of recommendations to explore Merida and surroundings. The best part was the breakfasts in the morning, each made individual and lots of interesting stuff to get to know the Yucatán kitchen. All in all was it one of our best stays at our journey. Thanks a lot.
Cons: Only the mosquitoes
Okay 5.0
Pros: - spacious and nicely decorated room (very artsy) - nice breakfast on the rooftop (different each day) - it is also an art gallery, with many paintings hanging in the hallway - the location is ~ 10 minutes from the main square, away from the crowds (but also from everything else) - good Wi-Fi signal
Cons: - in our room there was no bathroom door which was not always ideal - room insulation was not not great: our room was close to the kitchen and you could hear the breakfast preparation and other guests talking just outside of the door - the owners' small dog was barking each time we left our room or other guests were in the common space - shower: the pressure is low and you need to wait a few minutes to get hot water - even though the host is knowledgeable about Merida and day trips from there and very eager to help, sometimes he comes across as a bit obtrusive and overwhelm you with not always needed/wanted information (a solid 30 minutes introduction of the house at the check-in of our 2 nights stay was surely not needed; similarly we would have preferred to enjoy breakfast on our own) - "free parking" is just street parking (which is fine but I think it would have been helpful to have known that in advance since we were travelling with a rented car)
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very friendly hosts who have lots of stories about Merida. The breakfast was fantastic, one day salty and one day sweet. Very nice garden.
Cons: There was no solid door between our bedroom and the bathroom. However, there was another bathroom nearby which we was also usable just by us.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Amazing warm and caring and knowledgeable hosts. Beautiful old house with garden, pool and roof terrace. Splendid breakfasts with daily changing amazing local seasonal tropical fruits. The owners help with everything and share their knowledge of Merida and Mexico and its Traditions and events generously. I have never felt so welcome anywhere!!. Jean Pierre and his wife Gina are real Foodies!! Know every place in town and everything about every ingredient you never heard of!! Great books are available to view and there is fresh cold drinking water available 24 hours. The location is wonderful. You can walk to the main square and local market within a few blocks. I highly recommend staying at La Pantera Negra. Thank you Jean Pierre, GIna and princess Mostaza.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Thank you so much for this wonderful stay. The breakfast was different every morning and delicious. Jean and Gina are the perfect hosts and great together also her dog is lovely. We felt like home from the very first second on. We also got a lot of recommendations for places, beaches and restaurants which were more than great! So for us it was more than a perfect stay and we definitely can recommend La Pantera Negra to everyone who is planning to visit Merida!
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Very nice an helpful hosts, we good a lot of good tips and felt vey comfotable in the accomodation. The breakfast on the rooftop was really good.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This is a B & B. We had three lovely nights here. Spacious room with ensuite bath in a very large house. Plenty of spots to sit and read or watch tv. Lovely dipping pool, which was great in 38 C temps. Large breakfast served on the rooftop dining area. Hosts Jean-Pierre and Gina are extremely helpful with info about all things Merida - restaurants, sights, customs, history, etc.

Okay 5.0
Pros: Good
Cons: Air condition didn’t work property and the pillows were were poor quality.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Casona is a really beautiful property. I loved the decor in the lobby and the courtyard, and the staff were very sweet. I had to work during my trip and the wifi was excellent: took several video calls in my room and other parts of the property and never had a problem. One of my friends stayed at Casona the same time I was there and booked one of the rooftop rooms with a private terrace and plunge pool - worth the splurge! Mérida was still on a strict COVID curfew when we were in town, so we spent most nights up there drinking mezcal and watching the stars.
Cons: I felt my room was overpriced, especially for the neighborhood the hotel is in: my friend and I usually ended up walking at least 10-15 minutes before we found cafes/shops/bars that we wanted to visit. Also, there is a VERY busy bus/collectivo stop right in front of the hotel, and there were always tons of folks crowding the sidewalk. Mercifully the rooms are all far away from the hotel entrance, and the rooms and pool area were always very peaceful and tranquil. I did not like the breakfast they served, and only ate at the hotel one time.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: My compliments to the architect who designed the renovation of what was heretofore a dilapidated “casona” - big old house.
Cons: The only thing I missed was an armchair in my room, where I could sit and read - a not uncommon situation in many 4 star hotels!
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The breakfast was simple but it was a good option if you'd like to have something light in the morning. The staff were also nice and helpful. The room was a bit small but the hotel is quite stylish and centrally located, plus there's free parking!
Cons: There were some cockroaches outside, but luckily, we didn't find any inside the room except for mosquitoes and flies.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great location - few blocks away from the center. The rooms are spacious and VERY comfy beds! Amazing! The staff was really friendly and provided us with all the required info and tips for visiting places around Merida. Basic, BUT very yummi breakfast included in the rate. Very happy with the stay and the hotel itself. Looking forward to coming back soon!
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Nice rooms, beautiful patio, short walking distance to the center
Cons: staff was friendly but not very attentiv as expected in a 5star hotel. Breakfast was very basic and not very tasteful
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Perfect. Nice place, well located with nice and helpful people
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We had great days in this hotel. It is located near the center of the city, just a few minutes walk to Plaza Grande. The room was nice, very comfortable and clean, also the continental breakfast was good. The staff is really wonderful, hotel manager helped us to answer every our question.
Cons: The only problem was the bad noise isolation, so we heard our upstairs neighbor sing.

Excellent 9.0
Pros: - very friendly staff - 24h reception - breakfast incl - hot showers - shared kitchen can be used
Cons: - it‘s not the newest hostel but still everything is fine
Excellent 9.0
Pros: El Mayab is a nice, comfortable hostel. Plenty of places to lounge inside and out. Bathrooms are clean, though showers could use a pressure boost. Use the one on the left (ladies), which works better! :) Staff are very nice, helpful and have a lot of info about the sites, city and getting around. Ohh... and there is a nice breakfast, hot water and air conditioning in the dorm rooms. Also, just around the corner from ADO main terminal. Great value!! Would definitely recommend!
Cons: Shower pressure needs a boost
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Staff was very helpful and accommodating. I appreciated the location as it was perfectly situated between ADO and downtown, 5 mins in either direction.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Good location, really nice communal areas, showers were great and really hot! The room was really spacious and we were able to check in early. The breakfast is good too, with cereal, fresh fruit, coffee and toast
Good 7.1
Pros: Good location , close to ADO bus terminal, friendly staff , the room was big
Cons: Shower wasn’t strong enough but at least got hot water
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The only thing a bit annoying was that the bathrooms were a bit far away from the private rooms.
Cons: The staff is super friendly and gave us amazing recommendations for Merida. The hostel is cozy and there are many areas to relax. The private rooms are spacious and very clean. Thank you so much for also making us an early breakfast as we had to leave before the breakfast time started. We really enjoyed our short stay with you.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Location is prefect and the staffs are helpful
Cons: Equipment are old, but consider the price, it is a good place for stay one night.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The hostel is close to the bus station, but there are not many restaurants nearby. Everything is in the center which is about 10-15 min walk. I liked the security of the hostel, communal areas and the board with recommendations. lovely people running it. The breakfast, even though I didn't eat it as it wasn't food for me, I noticed it was better quality than other places - better quality cereals and bread It was a good hostel for us for one night stay. One night stand Hehe
Cons: I supposed the situation in the dorms... There is a window but it overlooks the main street so at night it's better to keep it closed. There is a fan and if I remember correctly the ac too, but we didn't need any of it and temperature was OK, but there was no fresh air in the room and feels stuffed. With fan running then it gets a bit too noisy so seems like there is no perfect solution.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: The food. The staff and it was a clean hotel.
Cons: I can't say I did not like anything.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: This hotel is located just a quick walk from centro so it is ideally located where visitors want to be. The rooms are comfortable and there is even air conditioning for the hot afternoons . Everyone was super friendly and went out of their way to accommodate everything I needed. They helped us find a car and new exactly what store I could find a difficult item to locate .
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Very close to centro . Right in the heart of the action . Easy to find .
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Welcoming , attentive and overall good service . Rooms were clean, spacious and enchanting.
Cons: I do wish the restaurant bar was open throughout the day. Or at least the bar of you wanted to order a drink ( even just a coke ) in the afternoon. Shops are nearby but sometimes you just want to arrive and sit down with something cold .
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Cozy place
Cons: Poor continental breakfast
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Good location. Close to everything! Has a bar and good drinks . Front desk accommodated us with a desire to take a tour to Chichén Itzá in a very short notice !
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Beautiful building and great location. Free parking.
Cons: Some of the rooms are visibly aged and in need of an update.

Good 6.0
Pros: I love the fact that it was extremely clean and the hotel staff were very friendly, professional and helpful, the location was great.
Cons: I requested a room with a bathtub and I got it. The hot water took about ten minutes to arrive and I had to open the shower, the bathtub and the sink all together to allow the hot water to arrive, one night about 9 pm and after 20 minutes of flowing water, it never arrived, I complained, but to no avail. Obviously the shut off the hot water sometime to save water, (not proper from a hotel)
Excellent 9.0
Pros: free parking good location clean
Cons: parking is in a closed gate, so you have to ask smbd every time when you need access to your car.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: An absolutely wonderful hotel in a perfect location. Large comfortable rooms, beds and pillows. The entire place was spotless. Staff was so kind and helpful. Lovely pool!! Restaurant in the hotel was a nice perk. Would definitely stay there again.
Cons: Nothing to comment
Okay 4.0
Pros: Location right in centro
Cons: It felt itchy and dirty. Uncomfortable bed. You get what you pay for, we spent $30 as an emergency for the night because there was no power in the house we were at.
Good 6.7
Cons: Air-conditioning not working and out-dated.
Excellent 8.0
Cons: A room with an outside window
Good 7.9
Pros: The location in the center of Merida, the room had everything needed and was clean, the shower and hot water were a good surprise
Cons: The unfriendly reception staff, no elevator and nor help for bringing the heavy suitcases up
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The cost per night at the front desk was 50% less than what Kayak advertised. We felt ripped off. The hotel was conveniently located, and the breakfast was excellent. The parking for the hotel is 75m away on the same street. The mattresses and pillows were firm, and clean. Having not been for paying double of what the hotel cost, this would have been an excellent experience.
Cons: That the cost was 50% for the walk in rate.
Excellent 9.7
Pros: Avery nice hotel . The staff was the Best I ever received.
Cons: Again the service. I have traveled to several countries and this was the best service. They really made one feel especial.

Excellent 9.0
Pros: We liked the pool and the room was nice. The overall atmosphere was pretty good, but not our favorite.
Cons: The bathroom/shower smelled really bad. The kitchen was really dirty. It was a 2 km walk to the main square.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The photos and what u have booked isn't matching.(initially). So I thought I was booked an air con room (showed in picture) turns out it was just a room with fan.** (And I purposely choose to walk further away from city center for that price with air con. If I want to pay more I would have just stay at the ones in city center with no walking) So I was a bit disappointed when I know there isn't one (but I never enter that no air con room, so I don't know if it is good or bad ) .After talking to the front desk girl ,she was okay with placing me in a air con room with no additional charge . (Thank u) also it was late at night and the room was empty with only one guest in that room . My staying was literally 9 hours (from 11pm to 8am ish ) if not, less . It was good bed. Quiet room. Clean bathroom and shower. If I remember right there is shower gel in the shower that is very thoughtful . Didn't get a chance to see or use other facilities. But overall I saw people talking by the kitchen. I am sure it is a good place to bond. Internet not the best .I wasn't able to send photos to friends but message is fine if internet is your concern .
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Fantastic place, what is situation near ADO terminal and very near local food street. Fast wifi, which for me on other place and hostel in Yucatan was very slowly. Here fast. Thanks. From this place have good memories.
Good 6.4
Excellent 10.0
Pros: It is one of the best hostels anywhere in the world that I have ever been to. The staff are wonderful. It is very clean and the one woman who cleans works very hard everyday to keep it that way. I liked my little private single room in a building with three rooms that share one bathroom. The dorms look spacious also. I liked the set up. The dorms are their own buildings and the common areas are pleasant. A good combination of indoor and outdoor common areas with a refreshing pool. It is the best option in Merida considering the value.
Cons: They do not serve breakfast during COVID, but that is common nowadays and there are cheap places to eat outside only steps away. And there is freshly brewed coffee in the morning.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Colonial Old Hotel. Beautiful! Historic! Best price in town. Good location. 3 blocks from ADO. Food and much more. I'll be back!
Cons: Nothing
Good 7.0
Pros: Lovely staff and good location.
Cons: The kitchen was very small and no AC only a fan.

Cons: Everything was great!
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Pool
Cons: Room with 2 beds instead one.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Hotel services (reception, waiters, cleaners) - fantastic, WiFi is free and good - available in all hotel areas (room too), food and drink in restaurant (alcoholic too) are relative cheap and very good (portions size are OK), swimming pool clean and big. Nearby hotel we can find gas station and OXXO shop (~150 meters). Close to the center (~4 km)
Cons: Included breakfast is poor (typical american)
Excellent 9.0

Excellent 9.2
Pros: Really nice terrace with nice view over street
Cons: Anoying little dog barking like crazy on sight freely walking around the place, owner said it does not bite and it did not, but I did not felt safe around the dog anyway
Good 7.1
Pros: Location was great - really close to main square and bus station. Staff were very friendly. The room was very spacious and had all the essentials within in.
Cons: Staff was not available most of the time, especially in the early morning. They did not answer numerous phone calls and door bell. They also had an aggressive dog which was kept in the home and not on a leash, and as the staff was unavailable, this was a difficult experience. There was noone available during checkout. Floor in the bedroom was not clean.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very good hostel in the centre of Merida. Walking distance to everywhere. Hostel very clean. Some traffic noise but otherwise very quiet. Would recommend as a great place to stay when seeing Merida
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The place was super clean, literally cleaning all the time throughout the day. Beds were comfortable, and the terrace was real nice! Kitchen was very welcoming, and what do you know, there's a barber school right nearby where you can get a haircut for free, if you don't mind the time it takes haha, was a nice experience. Oswaldo and his girlfriend are super nice and can help you to know how to get around, I appriciate the warm welcome (: Definitely recommands this place.
Cons: You can hear the people in the room next to you, and there were a little bit of noise from the street, but it didn't bother me so much. If you're someone who needs complete silence it might be an issue.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very clean, owners very welcoming, well equipped kitchen, nice terasse, lovely and comfortable room, quiet and peaceful
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Great location, well equipped kitchen and friendly staff. Rooms and roof terrace are beautifully decorated!
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Everything was fine - location, terrace (although a hammock would also be great), kitchen. Would stay there again.
Cons: A mosquito net would have been great

Good 7.0
Pros: Nice receptionist, she welcomed us and helped us on the crazy beginning of coronavirus lockdown. Nice ambience and very spacious.
Cons: They should let you know in advance that there is a surcharge for credit card. They are also very reluctant to let you pay with it.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Friendly staff. Nice open patio and garden. Private double room was spacious and stylish.
Cons: Vet basic breakfast, was often already finished towards end of breakfast time
Okay 4.0
Pros: Very clean, okay location, pool felt great, thx for the fruits for breakfast. Can pay by card but 3% commission
Cons: 1 toilet with a shower curtain in a 8 bed mixed dorm...cozy to take a sh*%&! Go downstairs for privacy :/ People NOT from the hostel threw a birthday party in the middle of the hostel, with big speakers, a DJ, super loud discothèque beat passed midnight, seriously?! No wifi in the dorms
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Great spot, nice building, comfortable beds and options to hang out in hammock / loungers by the pool. Really lovely staff. 24 hr staff.
Cons: No lockers for bags but you could ask reception to look after things which I did no problem.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Cleanest and staff
Cons: No comment
Mediocre 3.0
Pros: The staff trys it best.
Cons: The staff only speaks spanish. It smells like mould in the rooms. There is trash laying around. No wifi in the dorms.

Good 7.0
Pros: Clean hallways and room. Clerk having trouble with credit card reader so let me pay next day. Air Conditioner not working but ceiling fan was working. Good location 1 block from ADO station and stop for local bus to/ from airport. Vivid test site right in airport, $34, result in 30 minutes.
Cons: Air conditioner not working on hotel room. Merida live dancing performance at central plaza still has not resumed
Excellent 8.0
Pros: the location is very convenient, close to the center and to the bus terminals, easy to navigate everywhere. the place is very good for the price, clean. the room i had was very dark, which i dont like, but for short stay it is completely ok. the staff was very nice and pleasant and advised me with everything.

Pros: Good location, friendly staff
Good 7.9
Pros: Nice terrace on the rooftop with view over the city. Good location (walking distance to city-center near airport). Rooms not too big but ok. Big parking space.
Good 7.5
Pros: The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very nice and it has a roof-top area from where you have have a glimpse of the city.
Cons: It looks better than it is, take it in mind. The rooms are old and the airco is very noisy (and also old). Value for the money is good though.
