one of the most important features for travellers is internet access. whether the trip is for business or personal reasons, internet access is almost mandatory to confirm reservations, make/confirm/check plans, do research, etc. the front desk said they are working on providing wireless internet in all the rooms. that will be a great selling point when they finally get it done. yes. the staff in the morning when i arrived for breakfast could have been much friendlier, more helpful and importantly, more punctual. i was on a tight schedule and they were late.
The reception staff were very helpful Could not change money the evening staff in restaurant and bar were not very professional. The location is very bad no place to go expect the hotel to eat. Many items on menu were not available even though it was only 9pm (early for eating in Greece) and the food was bland.
Big room, hot shower working, quick to the airport we had room in the basement, you heard the air conditioning from outside, toilet stinks a little because there is an open hole in floor through which runs the shower water this pipe has no siphon to keep smell from the garbage system, in a 4 star you should throw the toilet paper into the toilet and not to have it put in a basket
close to the airport where I wanted to rent a car the next day... ...but only reachable by taxi, with drivers requiring exhorbitant prices. It can be cheaper to go to town.
Nice, helpful, efficient English speaking staff. Awful location in the middle of nothing. Close to the airport but shuttle service was unavailable at 7 AM. Taxi costs 15 Eur one side. Breakfast starts at 7 what is quite late for airport hotel. No place to walk around, not talking about a place to eat out except a very expensive hotel restaurant with poor choice and only average quality. Thick warm blankets in early September and agressive mosquitos. Price of 70 Eur/night is absolutely inadequate.
The Avalon is within 5 minutes drive of Thessaloniki airport and is very suitable to catch a morning flight. The hotel had few guests and even fewer staff. The room on the lower ground floor was dark and had no view. The food was adequate.
Hotel was just as expected, and really that what was in the pictures, maybe more like a 3 star then 4 star Hotel, I guess the Pool makes the diffrence. A freindly staff, clean and bigger rooms then usual. The breakfest buffet was good too, the pool was clean and big. The shuttel bus from and to the airport goes monday to friday from 600 am to 6 pm. We arrived on Sat 2 am so no chance for a bus, but the cabs where reasonable at 10 €.
Very clean, very comfortable, very spacious, super nice facilities. Excellent breakfast. Hard to find, no address to google. Booking.com should have better map to the hotel.
breakfast very good, location near airport, clean rooms
Liked the proximity to the beach. Nice resort area Room and bathroom was too small. It was there that I discovered my wallet was missing. I cannot prove it but it seems that it might have been taken at night while I was asleep. Again, I cannot prove this.
Nice location, quiet area We stayed in Club roooms, while we were charged for Premium rooms, breakfast poor, service in restaurant - poor
the sea view the price of the suite, because it was too expensive.
location,it was realy close to the sea. the pool was very small.
Diner meal was quality and delicious. Breakfast above average. Proximity to a beach. For a 4-start hotel, I have seen much better in Europe and Greece. Small rooms with tiny bathroom. Balcony's in nead of repair. renovation desperately needed. In a bad, run-down area, would not be comfortable exploring. Wait staff rude, including desk staff. Parking minimal. 30 minute drive just 7km from the airport. Stay on one of many resorts just 30 minutes south instead.
The beach in front of the hotel, which has the blue flag for the season 2008. The music at the pool was to loud for my taste .
The View to the beach and to the gulf and town Very small and not clean enough bathrooms, poor breakfast.
Layout of the hotel, receptionist´s kindness and assistance Breakfast (especially quality of juice and coffee - just poor)
1St class hotel & service
Excellent location for a weekend break, lovely view of Thessaloniki and the sea, quiet at night, clean private beach, nice pool area. Rooms are very small, difficult to move around for 2 people at the same time. Breakfast quite poor, always something missing, no fresh vegetables!
The location is good -close to the city but actually on the beach and easy to find.Old facility that management successfully have redone and keeps a good eye on it.The pool is a good decision and the service is very good. They are struggling now to survive there and I hope they will make it.General manager very helpful as all reception stuff. One thing though -beds are really bad, need to change them!!!Good product for the money paid-do not expect posh but 3 star regular hotel We had a nice stay there. Beds really need to be changed-springs into your back!!!
Location good, rooms, bright, airy. Friendly effcient staff, breakfast very reasonable variety and good quality.
swiming pool, but beach is too far and not comfotable for long stay
Very polite hotel staff, good location of a hotel, cleanliness of a room... Breakfast was the same every day.
The view to the sea, good room service, friendly people
The service was good at the bar, very friendly. Good breakfast. No noise at night. On our first night, we had ordered a triple room, but were given a double room instead, although they gave us an extra bed for our second child. So we were a bit squashed - so we should have paid for a double room with a extra bed, but still had to pay for a triple room. The man serving us was not very helpful and it left a bad taste in our mouth, so to speak.
Staff was very friendly and helpful, nice swimming pool and the lounge area. Very poor location,is close to beach which is really dirty and uncomfortable,no any trips organized or water games, food is so bad, very boring, apart of staying in your room were nothing to do at all, everything unreasonable expensive, was really disappointing to waist this all money what is not worth it all plus we booked online were saying clearly that we paid for our reservation and on our check out we need to pay because the lady in the reception said they never taking money only booking the room till your arrival and taking payment on the departure that was really uncomfortable because we haven't got any cash because we was not informed and were no any information on the website so we needed to use our credit card what cause us stress!!
Nothing particular. Poor Air-conditioning.
it is not on the beach
Great staff and excellent location
The hotel is close to the major shopping area out of the center of Thessaloniki, the Cosmos shopping mall, Magic Park. It is nice and quiet, although the micro location is strange - looks like in the middle of nowhere. The rooms are quite clean and the lobi is confortable The indor swimming pool was not heated at all (neither the wather nor the air) so we could not use it, althoug we booked here because we wanted a hotel with this kind of facility. The reception staff is not responding e-mail sent prior arrival. The toilet would need some reconstruction.
Nice comfortable room, clean, and quiet!!! Breakfast, not to charge for wifi!!!
fresh croissants at the free breakfast, location close to metro, a really good shower, an elevator, free internet in lobby no
Close location to the airport, comfort
Very comfortable room. Staff were extremely helpful. Courtesy bus facilities and 24 hours reception. Catering service good.
Athina Place Hotel is in a perfect location for the airport, serves basic food at resonable cost, staff very helpful, rooms clean and warm
The atmosphere, the facilities, the room. The breakfast was the same during all 3 mornings - not even a single item was changed.
Was close to my points of interest:Mediteranina Cosmos and Ikea. Easy access from ring road. Peace and quiet. Very friendly staff and good breakfast. Good value for monet. Very friendly staff.
Very convenient for airport with nice outdoor pool
it was very quiet and peaceful
quite confortable, new small hotel ,clean very difficult to find the location, esspecially during the night because the GPS doesnt work in that area, and it seams located in the middle of nowhere. It wold be usefull to have more indications on the small roads in the hotel direction
The facility is not a hotel, but some bungalows in the middle of a camping ground. There was a dreadful smell in our room so we asked ourselves lots of questions about the hygiene. The absence of tv and air conditionning are secondary...
excellent English from Katherina, good suvlaki in taverna expensive an d bad coffee in beach bar
placed in a quite environment close to the beach, if you need some rest for a couple of days, or a completely passive hollidays, then this is the perfect place. but for a one night stop (like we did) I would recommend a less remote location... way to hotel was horrible, after village Epanomi, GPS (2008 maps) wasn't showing any road at all to reach the location, we just drived in blind at 11 PM (!) after leaving Thessaloniki airport. I recommended to hotel's management to ask you at Booking.com to place the GPS coordinates along to their address. It could be usefull and ease reaching them.
The hotel was very quiet, in a beautiful location and had a very relaxing atmosphere.
The hotel is very close to the beach, so the sea view is fine. The people are very kind. We arrived late in the night, as the location is quite difficult to be found, but the owner was available.
There was a great view from the balcony. The family that owns the hotel and the camping is very nice. The rooms are big and the appartament was more that I expected. It is almost on the beach and there are no other resorts in the area. The food in the restaurant was excelent. The restaurant's position was with sea view. During 2 nights out of 6 it was a live band that sang and it was difficult for us to rest until they finished. The prices in the restaurant are a too high.
We went off-season, deliberately,so there were no crowds, no beach bar, no noise and staff was readily available to help without any waiting time. Even without a great number of guests the restaurant seafood was excellent and fresh, expertly prepared by Adonis, the apparent fac-totum at the hotel. As everywhere else in Europe, it seems, it was difficult to get a cup of what Americans call "coffee" or "Cafe Americano", a large (1/2 litre) brew of ground coffee beans. Also it remained unclear whether tips/gratuities were included in the prices; we understood they were, but the English menu was not clear on that. This is not a criticism, we just like to be fair to the staff and are more comofrtable knowing what the custom is.
Location and facilities. None
Our stay at Akti Retzika was superb! Katerina and her wonderful family were so lovely and helped us out whenever we needed. It was amazing to walk out from your door and onto the beach. The water was beautiful, warm and clean. A very safe place to take the family and relax. The restaurant made delicious food (especially the fried courgette) and the staff were so friendly. I would recommend this place to everyone. Such a beautiful and relaxing vacation spot. It will be a regular holiday spot for us now!
The sea view and the beach who was very close to the hotel
Great customer service.
a very helpfull reception we had a family room and the two person bed was too small for two persons. The second time we had one better room and one old room with an old toiletroom
For me it's convenient close to airport of Thessaloniki and nice for walking on the beach promenade
It is really a suitable hotel for a short staying or a business trip. Location is close to a walking boulevard but is 50 m away that helps to avoid noise. Good quality/price ration.
Very close to the beach and the promenade. The breakfast costs 7 euro and is only bread and marmelade, also I expected the money to be transfered from my accout electronically when I booked, but turned out I had to pay cash on check-out, and if I didn't have cash on me that might have been a problem.
TV in English.Shampoo in the room.
Easy Parking, comfortable bed. Good location. Not very much hot water. Staff was not always easy to find.
Staff particularly helpful and hotel well run. Otherwise, nothing special but quite satisfactory. I would return to the Avra rather than stay in other hotels in the area. It takes about three-quarters to one hour to take bus into town, but a good bet if you prefer to be located outside city centre.
location is great, nice beach and restaurants nearby. hotel looks good on arrival but the rooms did not match this standard at all. no mirror in room and took them 24 hours to provide us with one.the kitchenette was dirty and did not have basic utensils to cook with even if we had wanted to. the receptionist advised us just before we were leaving that the rooms are being refurbished and that is why all pictures and mirrors have been removed. if that's the case, they should have notified guests beforehand and offered a discount on their expensive prices.
